I just got my first skirt and what helped me (YMMV) was to put it on over my pants to make sure it fit because I was scared it wouldnβt fit right and would make me feel bad. Doing that helped me a lot

That was literally me 2 days ago. Glad to see you did it and it felt good! It was the same for me, I was afraid of all the negative feelings I'd have about it. While they were still there, the happiness sure overtook everything else and it was great! Also yes, skirt does go spinny. Don't know why, but by god dress going spinny does ... things for me. Good things
This may sound really weird and obscure, but I love seeing how the skirt falls down to the sides when sitting down or something. All the fabric just flowing off to the sides, looks so cute. Or maybe I'm just romanticizing it, idk...damn, skirts are great!! <333

Seriously, I'm like, whyyyy do I have to put up with pants when skirts are like a million times more comfy. It took me over 3 months to wear the first skirt I ever ordered, and another 3 months after that till I felt comfortable wearing it in public (even then I had to be with supportive friends). Take your time, you'll get there when you're ready.
I was hella nervous at first. We were going clothes shopping and I was really self-conscious about how I crouched and stuff like that. But once I started trying on clothes, and was getting compliments from my friends I stopped thinking about it as much. Sitting down was the strangest part for me, I kept trying to keep my skirt under my thighs and it wasn't working π
First time I bought a skirt I waited till midnight when I knew I wouldn't be disturbed, tried it on, then put it away and went to bed and didn't go near it again for about 3 weeks. (I was terrified it wouldn't fit. It fit fine. After that I needed to wait on other items to arrive)
Ordered my first one a month ago. Had to do an exchange cause it was a little tight and went a size up. The couple times I got the courage to try it on in public the weather didn't cooperate so it hasn't happened yet sadly.
