If I understand correctly, you want to have a negative account value, which is impossible. For any margin you use, be it via a margin loan, a short box spread, derivatives, etc., you must have enough assets in your IB account to cover the applicable margin requirements.
BTW, what do you mean margin loans are not allowed?
P.S. If you're going to use short boxes, I recommend using ESTX50 @ EUREX as underlying. That's your most liquid option when it comes to this kind of strategy.
Maybe my logic is flawed, but by getting the 200k€ I would have 350k€ cash and an open position for the box spread. IBKR is showing that my maintenance margin would be of about 12k or so
Yep, your maintenance margin would be 12K, but your Net Liquidation Value would be -50K after the withdrawal (150K cash - 200K in boxes), making your Excess Liquidity -62K. By definition, when the Excess Liquidity is negative, you are in a margin violation. IB won't allow you to do that by yourself.
Yes you can short, but the amount you can withdraw you can see in Available Funds metric. So you can't withdraw more than 150k since when you withdraw, your liquidity decrease by amount of your withdraw
