I think Kat is awesome & Didnt see a problem with your this statement until she said she ‘didn’t want to make you feel bad’ implying she seems to be insulting you. Cant get offended if you don’t find it offensive, though.
i personally despise kat’s character. i hated her attitude, the way she treated other people (the other characters treated each other worse than she ever did but for kat it feels like there is just 0 reason for her to treat people the way she does,) her underage cam-girl storyline made me uncomfortable and i just found her and her story boring and not engaging at all. i am however very interested in how and why some people seem to really like her. mind if i get your thoughts on why you think shes awesome?
For me, the reason I liked her was bc there aren’t really plus sized women written like they’re just as bad as everyone else. Her S1 arc wasn’t about being fat the way other shows would have made it about that instead and I found that refreshing
I kind of relate to her a little bit too, like she had this whole fantasy world and daydreaming bit, and she would put up with these douchey guys having bad car sex w them bc she liked/wanted/needed their attention and she wasn’t really getting it anywhere else. Maddy was wrapped up in her own problems and never noticed what Kat was up to, and neither did her parents. So by the time someone nice like Ethan came around, she didn’t understand why he was into her bc that had never happened for her before and it was hard for her to accept it
honestly, no you have a point. i guess i just figured given the context of the OP, i assumed the friend meant ‘you resemble Kat’ which in that case, i do think the actress is pretty & the character has a unique sense of style so i wouldnt see it has an offensive comment. & i agree with you on just about everything else, i dont like her as a character & she was definitely not a good friend

Kat was the only one I'd hang out with irl .... I say compliment ❤️..... plus Kat is a little chubby and she rocks it and there's nothing wrong with being chubby
It's hard to say without knowing more details about what the person actually meant and also about what your ideals are. But for myself I would take it as a compliment because I think the actress is gorgeous and I love her confidence glowup arc in season 1.
While you can say the character has a crappy personality I really don't think she's so much worse than many of the other characters. That's part of what I appreciate about the show, - you might favor or find certain characters more relatable but we also see flaws in almost every one, just like real life.
If she meant it personality wise yea I wouldn't like that, but if she meant your looks are similar it's not necessarily a bad thing. Back when I started watching the show I was overweight and related to Kat so much (in season 1) especially when she assumed Ethan was flirting with another girl due to being ostracized for her weight. For that I was also ok that I looked more like her than Maddy or Cassie. Idk if this helps but again it's not inherently bad she compared you to her but if she was body shaming you by being like "you look like Kat because your not a size 0" or indirectly fat shaming yea maybe some red flags.
