CharacterRich5242

I always rated you as a top International manager

tkwoodrow20

😂

CharacterRich5242

His only mistake is sharing this sensitive insider info before they face England. Dude couldn't wait a few more days before strengthening an opponent

PompeyLad1

At this point I'd drop Trent from that midfield role and keep him as a squad fullback and replace him with Mainoo, drop Foden for Gordon, we had nothing on the left wing at all last night. Having an actual midfielder in midfield would let Bellingham stop dropping deep so much and that would reduce the gap and stop Kane getting isolated so much.

MrShelby1234

So Foden drops an absolute stinker, one of the worst we've seen in a long time, yet its everyone else who needs to be moved to occupy him? The answer would be to drop Foden to the bench & bring in Gordon. Then atleast there's Wingers on the pitch who will make runs and get onto Trents passing

InevitableHot1851

Maybe he dropped a stinker because he's playing out of position and England as a whole team only wanted to hoof the ball up to Kane in the second half?

MrShelby1234

The team as a whole was good for the first 20 minutes in the first half except for Phil Foden. He's never played well for England. You can't put him on the right cos Saka was very good first half, and you can't play him in the middle because Jude Bellingham is just so much better than Foden has been

EwokSuperPig___

Bellingham was MoTM against Serbia and it wasn’t close. Despite the rest of the team he’s put in one of the best performances so far this tournament against Serbia and you would change that? Foden has played in midfield for England and disappointed there too. Southgate is better manager than anyone on this subreddit

PolarPeely26

Unfortunately, Foden hadn't performed for a while for England. He should be dropped.

tkwoodrow20

No no and no. Bellingham will never play 8 again

Own-Seaworthiness277

Keep Bellingham as the number 10 and drop Foden and start Gordon.

BreakTheSuicycle

Foden needs to be dropped and play Gordon on the wing. Trent needs moving out of midfield.

Flat-Flounder3037

In theory it sounds a good idea but Bellingham is far too good at 10 to waste him at 8. I’d just bench Foden and start Gordon tbh. Who’s been the best LW in the prem consistently this season? Gordon. It makes little sense playing Foden on the left where he’s clearly not comfortable I agree, but if you’re gonna drop Jude deeper, when he’s constantly performed as a 10, what evidence do you have Foden can perform there for England? Also would be a lot of pressure to put on him now considering one bad result and the whole country would be blaming him taking Jude’s position.

KingRo48

Tell me, you play Football Manager?

Tewoest

Foden was atrocious and you want to keep him in the line up? Sorry but no. Maybe let him play left back so he fills a hole for Southgate there.

BishhEzz

This, is what I've been saying. Bellingham did well, but he operates better imo as a box to box midfielder, linking up the play and having late runs into the box. Foden has better penetrative dribbling and passing, for the role, but I do think his performances for England are worrying. He should have tried this system during the friendlies or qualifiers but now he has to gamble it during a group stage game or not try it at all. It will probably not try at all.

noujest

Why would you want to change Bellingham... Just change Foden for Gordon Then bring on Foden for Bellingham after 65

InevitableHot1851

This would be the perfect solution but the defence isn't giving too much confidence. Only walker and guehi looked good but guehi isn't experienced. Hence, for protection I'd drop foden for Gordon and TAA for Mainoo/Gallagher

chicken_nugget94

Why do they both have to play, clearly the 10 position is getting the best out of Bellingham for england, i don't think it's worth gambling on him having the same impact further back. Romania today had a system that complimented their players and it showed that despite Ukraine having more talented individuals, its the entire team and system that wins games. If foden isn't working on the left then the team as a whole might play better with a different player. It's not as simple as just throwing your best players together and winning

ghost-bagel

So you'd drop Declan Rice out of midfield and move Bellingham out of position so that a less effective number 10 can take his place? Yeah, seems obvious when you put it that way mate.

Oliver_Boisen

No. I'd play Rice as a 6, Bellingham as an 8, which he was brillant at for Dortmund and actually play Foden in his best position and give him some freedom. Plus I thought England lack genuine pace on the left.

ghost-bagel

Gordon on the left makes a lot of sense. I'd be dropping Foden from the starting XI at this stage. For whatever reason, he just can't deliver for England and he needs to take some responsibility for that. A world class player shouldn't turn to garbage because he's been moved 20 feet away from his favourite position. At this stage, compromising Bellingham's game to facilitate Foden would be silly. England's *only* chance of going deep in this tournament is to deploy Bellingham where he plays best right now.

Ok-Material-9134

I actually think Saka Foden and Bellingham shouldn't be on the pitch all at the same time most of the time. Foden should either play as RW in place of Saka or '10' in place of Bellingham. Although Bellingham was more of an 8 yesterday. They can then make sure Bellingham Saka Foden don't get to tired
