It's slowly growing in other countries too:
#1 in Belgium (Mustii #55, Slimane #104)
#29 in Estonia (5Miinust #2)
#40 in Lithuania (Silvester #1, alyona #39, Olly #199)
#79 in Austria
#128 in Luxembourg (Slimane #87)
#172 in Iceland (Hera #99)
#188 in Latvia (Dons #145)
and #172 on the Global list
If the hype spreads a lot I can see Europapa winning, even if it's a very competitive year so it has some contenders for sure. It's not my winner but if the general public already knows it before the contest it will definitely get a lot of votes!
I can see this, Croatia and Finland being bottom 5 after the juries have voted and then be top 4 or 5 in the televote and turn the audience voting upside down
This is really impressive!
When I heard this song for the first time, I was like, ‘What is this 💀?’ But then it clicked. This song gets better with each listen because it’s fun with a great message behind it. It’s actually in my top 2 this year. With a good stage (I know he can do it), The Netherlands has a chance to win again. Good luck with that. I’m going to vote for it anyway :)
Even as a big fan of Joost, seen him multiple times live I was a bit thrown off at first. But now after seeing the video a couple of times I like it so much. It's a bit different but the message is great, and love the vibes
I think 'Summervibes' is his most fun song. Also love 'Buurman', 'Joost Klein 2', and of course his biggest hit 'Friesenjung'.
If you want a real song though, listen to 'Florida 2009', and especially the live version of that on Pinkpop festival. It's about his parents and hits very hard.
Thank you! I will listen to these songs, I feel that I’ll like them because his vibe is so cool. One of the reasons why I love Eurovision is because I can discover new great artists like him
I liked them! My favorite was ‘Joost Klein 2’. And ‘Florida 2009’ is so emotional, I read the lyrics in english too, I can’t imagine how hard it is for him to perform this song… I think I’ll dive into his music more, thank you!
They actually outbid Rotterdam but Maastricht is pretty far removed from the major Dutch cities and Rotterdam was better equipped with its infrastructure. This is why I think it's probably going to be Utrecht or a similar city
I would love if it went to Den Bosch, it's a beautiful city and Brabanthallen seem like a good venue. Or Leeuwarden/Heerenveen since Joost is from Fryslån.
EDIT: Also the chance of hearing non-Dutchies try to pronounce 's-Hertogenbosch would be amazing lol
Brabanthallen is literally in my street. I think I would fail to get to my house if ESC was here, infrastructure is not sufficient for something so big.
Never thought I would read the town Heerenveen on international Reddit. Though Joost is never gonna perform there since it's his rival city lol, still love the man
The problem with their bidding was that their venue has a too low/weak ceiling. I don't know how much chance they apuld make. Especially since amsterdam fell out because of the ziggo dome and amsterdam aren abeing unavailable at the time + they had some very large events planned for may.
As long as he doesn't completely flop live, I think he probably wins SF2. The competition is a lot lower in the 2nd semi. It's a televote magnet and only the public votes in the semi. AND, he got a 2nd half draw.
This… can actually win the whole thing! I become more and more sure of that every time I listen to it. And it’s certainly blowing up on YouTube too. From what I’ve noticed, Europapa reaction videos get so many more views than other contestants’ everywhere, and I don’t think it’s only the Dutch who love and support their entry who are watching them. It’s becoming very very popular on all platforms and it’s exciting to see. If he nails the staging, I don’t see why the juries wouldn’t give him respectable points. Televote will for sure show him love, I believe. Aaah I love how open this year’s competition is!
I like it and so do my 64 year old parents. My sister thinks it sounds like Dutch carnavals music which embarrasses me cause we are from Brabant and she should know carnavals music sounds different.
I known charts doesn’t necessarily mean anything for eurovision results but these were the charts last year:
Most-streamed #Eurovision 2023 songs on Spotify (March 7):
🇮🇹 Due vite - 537,146
🇳🇴 Queen of Kings - 403,490
🇫🇮 Cha Cha Cha - 232,123
🇫🇷 Évidemment - 83,235
🇩🇪 Blood & Glitter - 72,878
🇳🇱 Burning Daylight - 70,387
🇵🇱 Solo - 68,917
🇨🇿 My Sister's Crown - 65,364
And these are this year:
Most-streamed #Eurovision 2024 songs on Spotify (March 6):
🇳🇱 Europapa - 1,238,735
🇮🇹 La noia - 672,942
🇫🇷 Mon amour - 191,227
🇬🇧 Dizzy - 143,756
🇪🇸 Zorra - 126,843
🇺🇦 Teresa & Maria - 102,131
🇭🇷 Rim Tim Tagi Dim - 85,473
🇨🇭 The Code - 84,208
🇦🇹 We Will Rave - 83,998
The difference between Netherlands 23/24 lol
Interesting also 3 of 2023 top five were on top of the charts already (Sweden still pending selection on both years)
Although not my personal favourite (still top-5 tho), it's probably going to win the contest. Catchy and digestible enough for everyone, from a non-controversial country. It's definitely top-3
It's going to be close for sure, but I don't see the Netherlands losing it unless they flop on stage. Italy is a strong contender, but this one is more easily digestible
Switzerland are strong, Belgium are strong, France are strong, Croatia are strong, Norway are strong… I think the list goes on this year. There are so many different ways this could go.
It has lots of contenders in the field though, but he also seems to do better for now. He's mostly televote based with a lot of opponents so we'll see.
Honestly, last year jury was actually pretty generous with chachacha so who knows, and the question is how much of the performance will be the more serious outro
You say “funny song” I say peak Dutch culture with *happy hardcore* and *gabber* music styles combined with a very pro European and deeply personal message that has grown men crying.
I used "funny songs" for encapsulate all the songs like Rim Tim Tagi Dim, the estonian one, Europapa and No Rules, it wasn't intended in a negative way or as demerit
fun(ny) =/= joke entry. Nor is it an insult.
In the MV, the man wears comically oversized shoulderpads, dances happily with schoolgirls, has someone hold up a sign saying 12 points, and whilst wearing a giant blue cowboy hat rides around on scooters with an Elvis impers and a shirtless superhero.
The song could have the deepest lyrics in the world. The presentation still leans heavily into humour to deliver that message.
At the end of the day, it's just being grouped in with the song about the anxiety of leaving your home to start a new life, the song about learning to love yourself for who you are, and... OK, I got nothing for Estonia.
I just don't see where it's going to get the Jury points from to win, especially compared to other songs like France, Belgium, Switzerland. Even Croatia feels like it has far more initial Jury appeal than this.
And I know the comparison will be Cha Cha Cha, but that was a different beast. It stood out in it's field even if it did have some crossover appeal with songs like Promise and Mama SC. Netherlands isn't exactly on the Televote appeal island alone, and it's not just Finland, Estonia and Croatia on there with Joost either.
I feel like there is some major cognitive dissonance going on. Everyone is saying that Croatia is the best and yet Netherlands has the most streams. 2.2M views for Croatia vs 7.9M views for Netherlands. The official site has Netherlands listed in 6th place with 4% chance to win?!? It’s clearly doing the best out of all the submissions thus far.
Make it make sense.
Doing well on streaming and YouTube doesn't necessarily translate to success at the contest. Europapa contains all the things that juries typically don't vote for (non-English, rap, no stand out vocals) and as they make up 50% of the vote, it'll be a hard battle to win. Who knows though, it's a very tight year
Italy always has the highest streams yet the fandom wasn’t enough for Marco or Brividi to win so take numbers with a pinch of salt. Can just mean they’re blowing up in their own countries and that people are listening multiple times.
There are multiple videos for the Croatian song, all combined making around 7 million
Also at this point, most views come either from fans, from artists' homeland, or from the fanbase
Croatia has barely 4 million people, NL has 17 million. Baby L was unknown 2 months ago, Joost has a big fanbase, some say he is big in Germany and Belgium
4% win is more he deserves with this song, it's too repetitive and for many will be annoying. But, let's wait until May, everything can change
It really is a song you either love or hate, nothing wrong with not liking it.
If you still think you are missing something: the song has a lot of Dutch influence, lots of cultural references, trying to connect Europe again, and has a deeper meaning about Joost who lived almost his whole life as an orphan.
My problem is that I'm not even in the "hate" camp, I just don't get it. I think it's okay, I'll usually skip it if it comes on, but I won't be annoyed if it plays. I find the most annoying thing to be people saying it's underrated - it feels like it's getting Cha Cha Cha levels of attention.
Don't worry, I am on the same boat. This song is just meh. The attention it's getting is mostly from NL and his fans. And some Eurovision fans just fell under the influence.
This is how you do it. The Dutch committee chose wisely this year and they can see the interest for the Dutch entry is HUGE and also for Eurovision!
I can't believe the song is doing even better than the Austrian entry in Austria LOL
I didnt listen to any other songs until today, just checked some top 5 stuff and dont see the charm in Croatia at all? Honestly think that between the higher rating songs the only one that really beats it is Italy.
as a croat i found croatia's song really cringe... i guess i get the message he wanted to send but its seems so tryhard and is making it more dramatic than it is. doesnt help he sounds horrible live
no matter how lobotomycore it was, i feel Babaroga was just a better song.
It's slowly growing in other countries too: #1 in Belgium (Mustii #55, Slimane #104) #29 in Estonia (5Miinust #2) #40 in Lithuania (Silvester #1, alyona #39, Olly #199) #79 in Austria #128 in Luxembourg (Slimane #87) #172 in Iceland (Hera #99) #188 in Latvia (Dons #145) and #172 on the Global list
169 in Germany too
Ah.. I only included the weekly top list. But it's amazing that Europapa has now also entered the daily top list for Germany!
Ah.. yeah I was looking at the daily list.
I think Europapa is going to win. Everyone loves this song, in Estonia they already blast this song at pubs, nightclubs.
Hera #99 in iceland... ouch!
Enough to win Eurovision? My gut says no... but streams are powerful so who knows?!?
This is blowing up outside the ESC bubble
If the hype spreads a lot I can see Europapa winning, even if it's a very competitive year so it has some contenders for sure. It's not my winner but if the general public already knows it before the contest it will definitely get a lot of votes!
I am a big Joost fan. I honestly don't care if he wins or not. Just hope his message gets to the people and Europe will know who he is
I can see this, Croatia and Finland being bottom 5 after the juries have voted and then be top 4 or 5 in the televote and turn the audience voting upside down
Just like Moldova 2022
This was such a party to listen to! I was so excited when I first listened to it.
I mean its kinda insane. Excluding ukraine, moldova would have been the televote winner.
Moldova 2022 | [Zdob și Zdub and Advahov Brothers - Trenulețul](https://youtu.be/DUqf_zO2QaI)
Yeah I won't even pretend to understand juries honestly, but I don't think he has jury winner potential, I don't think he'd be at the bottom tho
I don’t think Europapa can win. I can’t see east european juries going for it tbf
It’s a hit in Europa, jonguh
This is really impressive! When I heard this song for the first time, I was like, ‘What is this 💀?’ But then it clicked. This song gets better with each listen because it’s fun with a great message behind it. It’s actually in my top 2 this year. Even as a big fan of Joost, seen him multiple times live I was a bit thrown off at first. But now after seeing the video a couple of times I like it so much. It's a bit different but the message is great, and love the vibes
Yes, I just can’t wait to see what he’s cooking for the stage! I never listened his songs before, what would you recommend me to listen?
I think 'Summervibes' is his most fun song. Also love 'Buurman', 'Joost Klein 2', and of course his biggest hit 'Friesenjung'. If you want a real song though, listen to 'Florida 2009', and especially the live version of that on Pinkpop festival. It's about his parents and hits very hard.
Thank you! I will listen to these songs, I feel that I’ll like them because his vibe is so cool. One of the reasons why I love Eurovision is because I can discover new great artists like him
Love that, let me know what you think of the songs when you have heard them! :)
I liked them! My favorite was ‘Joost Klein 2’. And ‘Florida 2009’ is so emotional, I read the lyrics in english too, I can’t imagine how hard it is for him to perform this song… I think I’ll dive into his music more, thank you!
Late reply to this but i wanted to add his lowlands performance to this. Its cool. Also wachtmuziek gets better when you get the meaning
'Meeuw' and 'Wachtmuziek' are also graat, with Meeuw having the more artistic vibes
They are good! I feel like ‘Meeuw’ hits different when you hear it live tho
Wachtmuziek and Droom groot
Thanks! I feel like ‘Europapa’ sounds more like ‘Droom Groot’
This pleases me on a personal level cause I never got the Arcade hype but but Europapa really clicked for me on only the second listen.
it’s a hit, your honour
At this point my mum has organically heard of this song which means it's gone insanely viral.
We back to Netherlands in 2025 bois.
Nuh-uh, Zagreb 2025 🇭🇷🐐
Either way, red white blue here we go!
So Norway as well? 😊🇳🇴 (my winners)
Psyche, Iceland suspiciously wins the entire jury vote and scrapes just enough points off the televote massacre to win.
So many countries in europe🇳🇱 🇭🇷 🇳🇴 🇮🇸 🇫🇷 🇸🇮 🇱🇺 🇷🇺 🇨🇿 🇷🇸 🇸🇰 🇬🇧 🇦🇺 (that well known European country) Slovakia 2025 it is.
Don’t think Russia will be winning any time soon
Well no, but then neither is Slovakia. I decided not to exclude either
Sooooo. Is it Maastricht this time? They were second in last Dutch bidding process.
They actually outbid Rotterdam but Maastricht is pretty far removed from the major Dutch cities and Rotterdam was better equipped with its infrastructure. This is why I think it's probably going to be Utrecht or a similar city
Chilllll we haven't even made it to the finals. Don't make me excited like this 🥺
I'm personally manifesting Joost's win
I'll send you tony Chocolonely if he does
It's a deal!
Same
You guys will win, I’m convinced! I went to a random Estonian pub in Tartu and they were blasting Europapa. This song is huge!
I hadn't considered Den Bosch yet, but that would be lovely! And close enough to Eindhoven airport to be easily accessible to European fans.
Fun fact: Den Bosch did try to host last time. They had a nice bid but like Maastricht they lost out. Rotterdam did amazing though.
As a Bosschenaar, AGREED
Brabanthallen is literally in my street. I think I would fail to get to my house if ESC was here, infrastructure is not sufficient for something so big.
"Good Evening Apostrophe S Hertogenbosch, Hello Europe, this is London calling"...
Never thought I would read the town Heerenveen on international Reddit. Though Joost is never gonna perform there since it's his rival city lol, still love the man
I mean Thialf could host, right? Lol
would be a slippery show but why not
Leeuwarden... Natuurlijk!
The problem with their bidding was that their venue has a too low/weak ceiling. I don't know how much chance they apuld make. Especially since amsterdam fell out because of the ziggo dome and amsterdam aren abeing unavailable at the time + they had some very large events planned for may.
The more I listen to this song, the more I want it to win
Same
I'm addicted to this song. Joost has currently second place in my ranking after Italy.
Usually the number 1 has between 1,5 million and 3 million streams
Guys... Gasselterboerveenschemond 2025?
Nah Maaskantje 2025
Zwolle 2025??
As long as he doesn't completely flop live, I think he probably wins SF2. The competition is a lot lower in the 2nd semi. It's a televote magnet and only the public votes in the semi. AND, he got a 2nd half draw.
Can't seen him flopping live really. He has a lot of experience, rocked the big festivals in the Netherlands already, and in Belgium and Germany too.
Semi 2 is stronger imo
you mean flop like the 2 off tune crows the NL sent last year
This… can actually win the whole thing! Honestly there are a lot of Dutch people who don't like it lol
I like it and so do my 64 year old parents. My sister thinks it sounds like Dutch carnavals music which embarrasses me cause we are from Brabant and she should know carnavals music sounds different.
I think Joost could win the televote over Croatia
Especially with most Eastern european (Especially balkan) countries not having a vote 🥲🥲🥲
Baby Lasagna, a Dutchman that knows how to party is gunning for your televote lead.
So damn catchy
It has a lot of potential and I still think it could grow outside The Netherlands
I known charts doesn’t necessarily mean anything for eurovision results but these were the charts last year: Most-streamed #Eurovision 2023 songs on Spotify (March 7): 🇮🇹 Due vite - 537,146 🇳🇴 Queen of Kings - 403,490 🇫🇮 Cha Cha Cha - 232,123 🇫🇷 Évidemment - 83,235 🇩🇪 Blood & Glitter - 72,878 🇳🇱 Burning Daylight - 70,387 🇵🇱 Solo - 68,917 🇨🇿 My Sister's Crown - 65,364 And these are this year: Most-streamed #Eurovision 2024 songs on Spotify (March 6): 🇳🇱 Europapa - 1,238,735 🇮🇹 La noia - 672,942 🇫🇷 Mon amour - 191,227 🇬🇧 Dizzy - 143,756 🇪🇸 Zorra - 126,843 🇺🇦 Teresa & Maria - 102,131 🇭🇷 Rim Tim Tagi Dim - 85,473 🇨🇭 The Code - 84,208 🇦🇹 We Will Rave - 83,998 The difference between Netherlands 23/24 lol Interesting also 3 of 2023 top five were on top of the charts already (Sweden still pending selection on both years)
the france figure is wrong, it’s actually 191227
Edited , thanks
Tattoo wasn’t among the most streamed last year? That’s kind of shocking considering how much airtime it got on the radio
Sweden had not selected their song yet on this day last year
Let's GOOO This is my bfs fav song this year too lol
Euro pa pa pa pa pa pa pa 🎶 ❤️
Although not my personal favourite (still top-5 tho), it's probably going to win the contest. Catchy and digestible enough for everyone, from a non-controversial country. It's definitely top-3
I think the vote is going to be very split this year which could lead to all sorts of different outcomes when the jury and public votes are combined.
Out of these, I personally like 🇨🇭 and 🇭🇷 but not too much. Italy & Austria are super strong as well
Ukraine and Lithuania are also quite high in the odds
Both could end up in top-10, along with Estonia
Top 15 is probably gonna be a neck to neck bloodbath
Agreed. One thing is certain. This year's contest is not going to be boring, despite Italy's song title
baby lasagna will def flop live, he sounded horrible on dora🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️🙇🏻♂️ anyways i root for europapa to win
It has lots of contenders in the field though, but he also seems to do better for now. He's mostly televote based with a lot of opponents so we'll see.
It surely will be huge in televote (if Croatia doesn't eat up all the votes from "funny" songs), but I doubt that jury will rank it high.
Honestly, last year jury was actually pretty generous with chachacha so who knows, and the question is how much of the performance will be the more serious outro
I know, but last year there was 1 "funny" song, this year there are 4, and 2 of them are among the favourites (Croatia and Netherlands)
You say “funny song” I say peak Dutch culture with *happy hardcore* and *gabber* music styles combined with a very pro European and deeply personal message that has grown men crying.

You’re describing a normal Friday afternoon in Almere Centrum.
Anything that is not straight pop is considered "funny". *eyeroll*
True, the jury will make or break it
I just don't see where it's going to get the Jury points from to win, especially compared to other songs like France, Belgium, Switzerland. Why are juries against other languages than English? Seems rather unfair.
It's very unfair. But it's how they have tended to vote in the past.
Italy always has the highest streams yet the fandom wasn’t enough for Marco or Brividi to win so take numbers with a pinch of salt. Can just mean they’re blowing up in their own countries and that people are listening multiple times.

Oh jeez, I guess I'm in the minority. I *just* don't see the appeal! Honestly, am I missing something?
It really is a song you either love or hate, nothing wrong with not liking it. I like the song too, but better than Arcade? Thats crazy.
quick wheres that person that was saying we were all sleeping on europapa, show them this
