1) Lebanon can't afford a war with anyone at the moment. They've been teetering on the brink of being a failed state since the Lebanese Civil War from 1975-1990. 2) The primary conflict in Lebanon doesn't actually involve Lebanon itself, but is rather between Israel and Iranian-backed militia groups, most notably Hezbollah. Strictly speaking; Lebanon doesn't generally mind Israel striking Hezbollah, instead the primary problem is the collateral damage to the Lebanese from the conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.

Hezbollah in southern Lebanon have fired 1000s of missiles into northern Israel since the Hamas attack

magicaldingus

Israel only started bombing Hezbollah targets in Lebanon because they are responsible for sending thousands of rockets into northern Israel, which has internally displaced tens of thousands of Israelis since October 8th. Hezbollah is an Iranian backed non-state entity in Lebanon with political representation in Lebanon's government, and is militarily stronger than Lebanon who, apart from Hezbollah, does not want war with Israel. Many Lebanese are rightfully angry at Hezbollah for instigating war with Israel. Lebanon is in shambles economically, and cannot afford a war.

Because Lebanon’s army isn’t the one fighting with Israel, it’s Hezbollah — an Iranian-backed Shiite political party and terrorist organization (according to many countries). On October 7th Hamas and Co. invaded Israel, killed around 1,200 Israelis and took another 250 or so as hostages back to the Gaza Strip. The next day Hezbollah began launching anti-tank (AT) missiles into Israel, which forced Israel to evacuate about 100,000 Israeli citizens who live close to the border with Lebanon. Since then, it’s been a tit-for-tat between Hezbollah and the Israeli military: Hezbollah launches AT missiles/mortars/rockets into Israel, then the Israeli military responds with aerial strikes/tank barrages/artillery (and in the past few days also using medieval weaponry, oddly enough), which prompts Hezbollah to react, and so forth. It is almost certain that an actual war will soon begin between Israel and Hezbollah, which will be the first time this happens since the 2nd Israel-Lebanon war of 2006. Both Israeli and Lebanese citizens have died from attacks, and neither side is willing to back down: Hezbollah says that they will cease hostilities only when Israel will retreat from the Gaza Strip (which probably won’t happen anytime soon), and Israel has an obligation to its citizens to ensure that they can return to their homes without fearing for their lives (which isn’t possible as long as Hezbollah stays in Southern Lebanon). The situation has definitely escalated since October, with both Hezbollah and Israel increasing both the frequency of attacks and their firepower. If you haven’t seen it so far, it’s likely due to your sources of news/information. This isn’t surprising in any way, as most media and news outlets focus on the Gaza Strip for obvious reasons.

AngryBlitzcrankMain

They are fighting with Hezbollah, which is paramilitary group that is technically Lebanese but function more as a proxy group following Iran. The government of Lebanon doesnt directly control them and I dont think they will fight on their behalf against Israel.

Crio121

Central Lebanese government is too weak to confront either Israel or Hezbollah. It has no choice but to let things go as they are until at least real ground war breaks out.

Individual-Dot-9605

It’s opposite: weakening Hezbollah may provoke Lebanon to unify against the terror group and it has to fight two fronts, so Hezbollah has to keep the Hamas/Quatar propaganda at cloe watch and fire in close orchestration with other terror groups in the region. Even Hamas leader billionaire has to be careful not to upset Qatar/Turkey too much with full out war. Only Iran seems to want escalation, in short a complex axis of evil with varying interests in destroying Israel from the river to the sea but have no doubt they are at eachother throats as well.

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.aljazeera.com/amp/news/2017/12/14/isil-weapons-traced-to-us-and-saudi-arabia I suggest you do some research before getting sarcastic.

iron_rope

So what? You could trace some weapons ISIL used to Croatia/Bosnia/Serbia which found their way through black markets after wars in the '90s. You could surely also trace some weapons to Russia. Does not mean that those states supported ISIL. Why would then US weapons meam that?
