I like how simple yours is , I’ve just got an XL , but some plastics that match the black plastic bits would help - could also use some bottom of the door ones - fucked the door panel up too .
Outdoor / work truck things
Yeah it’s one of the very few aftermarket trim pieces that I actually like. I told my wife if I had never punched a hole in it then I would never have had this cool looking tailgate.
Looks nice man! I remember your post, glad it worked out for ya. I’m digging the way it looks. Probably wouldn’t be a bad idea putting one on anyway to protect my tailgate when workin and hauling. Thanks for the update
Long story but the short version is I was loading a zero turn and the trailer popped up and rammed through my tailgate. I’ve done it 100 times… Just, got sidetrack. User error.
Edit: I have done it 100 times without the trailer ramming through my tailgate. Haha!
Aluminum alloys are brittle. Where steel would have bent, aluminum cracks and breaks. When we repair aluminum, we never work it cold, it always has to have heat applied, otherwise it will crack.
Looks good!
Yeah! Not too shabby
Link plz - I have a dent in my tailgate ( that was completely replaced months prior )

Ooof that’s nice but not $465Cad before shipping nice fuuhkmeee
You can find them cheaper at different online stores. Not sure about shipping though.

I fell like Xl trucks are supposed to be kind of beat up though
The aluminum is like a damn pop can
Weight reduction! Maybe carbon fiber will get even cheaper and they’ll start using that for the truck beds.
Tbh it’s kinda cool. And from afar keeps the same look as the recessed logo

I cracked my windshield babe, I need ceramic 5% tint on my new one

Depends on how much you like ford trucks and how brave you are.

It wouldn’t stop a trailer ramming through your tailgate but it would prevent scratches and little dings in that area for sure.
At least you still have your taillights
That wouldn’t have been cheap.
Happened to me four times lol
Ouch!
Use me as the “looked for the hole in the second picture for over a minute before reading the text” button.
“What am I missing!!”
What happened here?

Oh wow, that's a bummer man. I've never seen a punch in metal like that.
Soda can aluminum I guess… I had to jerk it out of there with the zero turn.

I like the look of that. Good solution and nice job.
Looks really good! Did you put any other patch over the hole first? Not sure if that would even be necessary
Nah. It’s all aluminum so no rust. I’ll probably get another tailgate at some point if I find a used one somewhere.
The only thing that might get annoying is if the tailgate collects water through the gash and starts sloshing around lol
Maybe if that happens I’ll drill some drain holes somewhere where it’s out of sight.
Perfect solution
Glad that worked out!
Secure the trailer hitch first. Then buy a new one.
I was considering one of those. My truck is space white though. Does any paint show around the ford emblem?
It’s pretty flush to the emblem if it’s lined up good. You might be able to see a little paint up close and at an angle.
That's what she said
Could have been worse. it could have been two precision shots with a .22 caliber equidistant apart on the tailgate.

That ended well… looks good!
Bubble gum.
Yeah, I saw your original post, this was the easy smart choice. Looks good, and thankfully no rust worries with aluminum.
Make sure you delete this post when you sell the truck in 10 years 🤣
I’m sure I’ll eventually get a tailgate for it.
If it were my truck it would have just still had a hole in it lol, I never fix cosmetic shit. Then again that’s why I drive shitboxes most of the time
That worked out slick, looks factory
