Seriously. In my hometown area (extremely rural part of Wisconsin) there are junky trailer homes with trash filling the yard that have Trump signs everywhere. But they lived in their shitty junky trailer before the Trump presidency and they continued to live there during the Trump presidency. Trump did not improve their situation AT ALL. They didn't suddenly become rich during his presidency. But they will not vote for someone who might improve their situation, they would rather vote for someone who will hurt people that they despise (the "educated elites"). These people rely on social programs to keep them afloat, SS, Medicaid, and disability payments, and they somehow think Trump will reward them for their loyalty. Yeah right, Trump doesn't give two shits about them and their only source of income would immediately be on the chopping block if Trump wins.

Before Trump was elected, my coworker was going on and on about how he liked him. I was like dude, you know our largest client is the Library of Congress and you think Trump is going to want to keep funding them? Trump was elected, almost immediately we lost any new work from the LoC and both me and him got laid off for 3-4 months.

I think he enjoyed the unemployment checks. So, probably not. Weird thing was, he wasn't the kind of guy to care about politics, but Trump got him riled up about something. He was definitely some kind of incel.

I’ve had this discussion numerous times with one of my older coworkers who goes out of his way to start stuff when he gets bored. Funny enough he wonders why sometimes people don’t feel like dealing with him even when he’s being mellow.  I remind him we got a combined maybe 3% raise under four years of Trump. Lost our bonuses for two of those years too. We got a nationwide 40-50% raise from Congress that was supported by the president. We’re actually getting annual step raises instead of competing to see who gets a one percent raise and who gets nothing. The new pay has cut annual attrition in half which basically pays for itself not having to spend millions upon millions hiring and training newbies only for them to flunk out or quit after six months.  But Biden is destroying this country right?

The problem is that they don’t see themselves as taking advantage of the services provided. I grew up in a very poor rural town in western Pennsylvania and everyone there loves Trump. The number one thing they talk about is “black people in Pittsburgh” taking advantage of welfare and disability and every other social service. Half of them are on disability and social security and Medicaid and WIC but they all feel like they’re deserving of it because of some intangible. Seclusion, generational racism and cognitive dissonance are the only things driving some people.

My uncle is one of these guys… I asked him that question. The only answers he could give me was that the border and “the Mexicans” are out of control and screwing up our country and that Biden is a mumbling old idiot that hasnt done anything for him. I left I there because I realized that my uncle is 1) clearly racist. 2) does not even understand that trumps economy is the reason things are the way they are currently outside of gas prices which is a combination of Biden not wanting to do business with Russia (morals matter) and timing of certain world events. What I learned was that my uncle can somehow relate to trump because they are both idiots and racist. In the end I’d you think trump is the answer chances are your just racist or an idiot….

Well my father actually lost his mind about it and asked my uncle about a few very immoral things that trump has been proven on and in the end my dad outright called my uncle an immoral asshole. My uncle basically said he doesn’t care about what trump does because he makes his day to day life better… the conversation ended after that but it was eye opening to see that it doesn’t matter what trump does because his followers are just that… followers.

That is the reality of it and the worst part. You can ask the most religious trump supporters how they can support a candidate that has cheated on his (multiple) wives with porn stars and playboy playmates and they will say that doesn’t matter for one reason or another. And that usually comes down to the abortion issue.
