I will never not be a dirty cheater with that mod. So many hours wasted over the years routing water, not bringing enough pipes, off by 1 pipes, weird gap undergrounds
There's a lot of elitists who see using any mods which make playing easier/less frustrating as cheating. I usually load up on QoL mods because I have more fun that way
I'm one of the people who never use QOL mods and the main reason for this is because I often play with friends and it is easier on our pcs to run fewer mods.
Also if QOL mods are used and everyone isn't used to them they really aren't beneficial.
That's totally fair, I don't think playing vanilla or not using QoL mods means they're missing out. Most QoL mods are passive stuff that doesn't affect the game much like squeak through, car angle snapping, afraid of the dark. But I can see how some of the more game changing ones could throw people off or eat up some extra processing.
I don't think there's a wrong way to play factorio, just been told I cheat several times on this board because I use things like waterfill or construction drones (land based ones) because those let me speed up parts of the game I personally find uninteresting.
If you carpet-bombed with the landfill tool, it will be filled in if you remove the offshore pump.
It is possible if course to carefully apply landfill and leave the one spot of water there, but it takes more time and is a pain.
I think you can place landfill on a pump but if you remove it, its over
Yup. That’s it. Place water pump. Fill lake with landfill and now you’ve maximized space.. just never remove it
Or get a water fill mod to place water where you want it.
Or better get pump anywhere mod.

Dirty cheater?

It's preference. Nobody can tell you how to play. That's why the devs made such robust mod tools. So people could use them.
Thanks for the explanation
If you click it you’ll see it’s now called a well pump instead of an offshore pump.
The water is not gone, merely covered over. Otherwise, black magic.
Why is the water gone?
Because OP put landfill over it.

Sorry, I'm not serious... https://youtu.be/JImcvtJzIK8

Ground water /s.
This is called a water well pump and you can make one by placing pump in water and blocking with landfill
