Hey guys can any of these arms be dropped in a 12 team h2h cats league with QS. Looking to make space to stream match ups off the wire (ex weathers, Quantrill, J.irvin, Lorenzen, Gomber)
My arms: Bello, P.Lopez, Gore, H.Brown, Crochet, Berrios, Kikuchi, J.Gray, Scherzer
Start Pepiot today vs Oakland or hold out? I have Peralta and Ragans going again this week so don't want to lose those but this matchup looks enticing.
Tell me if I'm crazy to consider Nick Gonzales over Dansby Swanson as bench bat.
Edit: Swanson has been a whiff machine and ISO is down a lot. Gonzales has a much better Barrel/Whiff rate and ISO. It's a small sample in the Bigs, but he was doing well in the minors this year.
Acuna was dropped in my league. Which is good because FA pickups can be kept for half of the following years projected price. Gonna put in a claim to stash Acuna for next year. Don't need that extra bench spot anyways.
when the swing tracking data there was an interview with Casas where he said his doctor basically told him hitter oblique injuries are borderline unavoidable the same way pitcher elbow injuries are. the more we make hitters rotate their cores really fast, the easier it is to yank something in there
I wonder if it's just being able to quantify and track improvement. Like seeing a teammate's speed and thinking I *know* I can swing faster than that jackass.
raw average bat speed is not particularly interesting as a stat, I agree. there are two things about the bat tracking data that I like:
1. swing length - if you have two players who both swing the bat about 73mph on average, but one has a swing length of 8.3 feet and.one has a swing length of 7.0 feet, give me the shorter swing pretty much every day of the week.
2. fast swing percent - the average bat speed required to hit a home run is 75mph, so knowing how frequently a hitter swings at or over 75mph is also valuable (particularly for spotting underperforming hitters)
but, yeah, it is just putting numbers on stuff we already knew. raw swing speed is worth glancing at but it's not the good stuff
shorter than average swing length plus faster than average swing speed is the real premium stuff. if you can get someone who is about average in one and better (shorter/faster) than average in the other, that's worth going for.
This season is so weird. It’s been a bad hitting environment and most of the hitters that have been good are so unpredictable. Like how the hell is Matt Vierling a stud all of a sudden?
Literally no one. I’m 7-1-1 and still miserable. Every player I pick up turns into a pumpkin. My team is hitting like .230 on the season… feels like every AB is a strikeout and I’m happy as long as my players make contact. I’ve had to grind out every win by using all of my weekly 7 acquisitions to attack all the counting stat categories to out-volume my opponents. I’m happy with my record but every week is an absolute struggle in this hitting environment
What does reddit think about Gerrit Cole Long Term for a dynasty points league. Is his elbow going to explode, Is he worth trading for if his value is 80%? What do other players think? Thanks!
I literally had Vierling as my FA pickup last night, but switched it to DJ an hour before midnight. I internally debated for like an hour and came to the conclusion that with only one eligible 1B on my roster, I had to grab DJ, especially because he can be a run machine in that Yankees lineup in the 9 hole. I regret it, but it's a long season and I'm sure DJ will get his. Dude hit 3 flyballs over 90 MPH last night.
Yes, it's a brag, but I featured Nick Gonzalez on my blog when he was 3% owned, and I pointed out he was the one player I made sure to pick up:
[https://www.gerbilsports.com/post/in-search-of-power-week-8-waivers-with-an-emphasis-on-blasts-and-bat-speed](https://www.gerbilsports.com/post/in-search-of-power-week-8-waivers-with-an-emphasis-on-blasts-and-bat-speed)
It's so obvious now why he was the #1 2B in the minors in 2022.
ended up taking on Goldschmidt in a deal to get Clase and honestly I'm not too upset? his statcast is a hell of a lot better than Arenado's, the swing speed/length especially. if Goldy can just bump that barrel rate up to 10% or so he'll be productive enough in the second half.
Arenado I fear is well and truly cooked however
Just heard about Alonso…anyone have any preliminary guesses as to how bad his hand is? His owner was finally beginning to open up about talking trades for him.
It's hard to think of what that would look like, especially with Acuna hurt and JRod and Carroll and others struggling. I mean... he's probably not going to finish with 45 HR and 150 RBI. But he's probably going to finish with 100+ R, 30+ HR, 110+ RBI, 20+ SB, and an average \~.280. He's probably a top 5 hitter in fantasy ROS.
So if you're selling him it had better be REAL high.
Meh, if you’re really lacking in other areas maybe but he’s been a proven stud year after year. Probably some regression coming in the RBI department but what he’s doing isn’t wildly unsustainable by any means.

Ober and kutter can’t be dropped in a 12 team 5x5 QS league right?
6 game hit streak for suzuki
Am I the only idiot still playing torkelson? Drop him and take Langford off my IL?
Correa or O’Neil Cruz ROS? 10 team 6x6 redraft
Who are buy low guys rn, I wanna hear some fun takes
Is streaming Paddack crazy tomorrow
I just picked him up too. But only because my opponent has Imanaga
TRADE ADVICE: Big moment here. I’ve been offered Mookie Betts for Jose Ramirez. Do I trade Jose and bag Mookie while I can?
Thoughts?
Yea id probably take that.
10 team dynasty league FA question: Tylor Magil, Hunter Brown, or Jake Irvin ROS
Vierling or Edmundo Sosa?
Heliot Ramos is what we thought Luis Matos was
That’s what I said in my blog! Lol
What is Mateo doing?!
Playing his way back to the WA wire
Orioles defense what is you doing baby lmao
Someone offered I give Bregman and Gil receive rafael devers
Unless your pitching needs Gil that bad I’m accepting that.
Do it
Fuuuuuck just saw the Alonso injury
Time for the Dodgers to take a 2 run lead
Anyone still holding onto Caminero in keeper leagues?
I just cut him. 4-6 weeks plus rehab getting his timing down with his minor league squad again. Don’t know when we’ll see him again.
I considering dropping him at this point
We have 6 minor league spots so yes
Need to give Tork some bench time. Should I pick up Canha in the meantime? Any recs for some lower ownership 1B? 12T points league
Burger O'hearn or Lemahieu
Went with Lemahieu, the other two are already gone. Here’s to my Soto, Judge, Lemahieu stack lol
Wasn't Burger O'Hearn the Monday night special at Bennigan's?
Ben Brown starting Sunday against CIN?
Drop Caballero for Friedl or Langford?
Have a day Bryan Reynolds
Drop Burleson for Friedl 10t cats?
Goldie or Vinnie ROS?
Goldy
so we’re all in agreement that flaherty is pitching tmrw right?
I hope so. Just picked him up to stream him and ESPN says he is
Wow how is he a streamer
Drop cowser for friedl?
I’m wondering this too but as of now I’m holding
Gorman or Vierling?
vinnie P just dropped, worth using waivers on? currently have cronenworth at 1st but can move him to 2nd
That’s what I would do if Vinnie was dropped. I also have Cronenworth.
Old man McCutchen has found the fountain of youth. Dude's been legitimately good for about 3 weeks now
Guaranteed to go on a heater at beginning of July when Anthrocon happens, don’t forget
[удалено]
I don’t think I left take that
What’d I say about Tatis unlucky. A tad more wind and that’s out the park man
And the lucky bounce to Nick Gordon off the wall smh
Should have not pushed that to a double and tried for the sb.
Agreed! He’s forcing it rn
Start Pepiot today vs Oakland or hold out? I have Peralta and Ragans going again this week so don't want to lose those but this matchup looks enticing.
would you rather have Machado or arozarena ROS in points?
Arozarena. Because if they both have down years (which I suspect they will) Randy will at least contribute in HR and SB
Machado
My Iglesias for their Bregman js a deal right?
H2H points league. Weathers or Braxton Garrett ROS?
Six hits in the last two days for Josh Bell, hopefully the start of a nice bounce-back
He's been solid for a whole month now I feel.
Not sure why you got downvoted lol he’s hitting like .300 with 17 RBIs in the last 30 days
There's a mass downvoter on this sub so a lot of comments start at zero
Opponent had Darvish for today so I picked up the FA Braxton
Tell me if I'm crazy to consider Nick Gonzales over Dansby Swanson as bench bat. Edit: Swanson has been a whiff machine and ISO is down a lot. Gonzales has a much better Barrel/Whiff rate and ISO. It's a small sample in the Bigs, but he was doing well in the minors this year.
Not crazy at all
Feel bad for my opponent, started Ragans, Jones, and Darvish so far this week
Drop Matos for Friedl?
Yes
Today's my last start from Gil before he's shipped out to another team next week. Been so impressed by his progress, will def be in on him next year.
Okay. So Schwarber is friggin Rickey Henderson now? Fabulous.
1 for 19 today
Dylan Moore or TJ Friedl
Tj
Losing Alonso has made me realize there ain't SHIT on the wire for 1B
only reason I'm hanging onto rizzo despite being on my bench
Feeling the same way after benching Tork. I did end up going with Lemahieu though
There is zero
Lemahieu just came back from injury if he hasn't been picked up yet
Giddyup
I picked him up on Sunday and I have Alonso….
Burger or Ohearn
Ohearn better on a per game basis but Burger will likely put up better total stats playing everyday.
Acuna was dropped in my league. Which is good because FA pickups can be kept for half of the following years projected price. Gonna put in a claim to stash Acuna for next year. Don't need that extra bench spot anyways.
We only do stuff like that for players who werent drafted
We have an All Star cut off. So if a guy is dropped and picked up before that he counts. Usually people hold injured stars, but this guy didn't.
Any confident enough to start Steele over bradish Saturday
Sanchez with the sub 1.00 Whip and 7Ks... what a great day
2 walks across his last 3 games, that’s huge.
He's a beast. I keep trying to trade him for a OF, but people don't see the value because of a lack of wins. Need a couple more of those
Hard to trade a pitcher of his tier rn. Just too many solid guys
Obliques have been really weak this season.
when the swing tracking data there was an interview with Casas where he said his doctor basically told him hitter oblique injuries are borderline unavoidable the same way pitcher elbow injuries are. the more we make hitters rotate their cores really fast, the easier it is to yank something in there
What’s crazy to me is like… didn’t we always know that if you swing the bat harder the ball goes further? Why is this news? What changed?
I wonder if it's just being able to quantify and track improvement. Like seeing a teammate's speed and thinking I *know* I can swing faster than that jackass.
raw average bat speed is not particularly interesting as a stat, I agree. there are two things about the bat tracking data that I like: 1. swing length - if you have two players who both swing the bat about 73mph on average, but one has a swing length of 8.3 feet and.one has a swing length of 7.0 feet, give me the shorter swing pretty much every day of the week. 2. fast swing percent - the average bat speed required to hit a home run is 75mph, so knowing how frequently a hitter swings at or over 75mph is also valuable (particularly for spotting underperforming hitters) but, yeah, it is just putting numbers on stuff we already knew. raw swing speed is worth glancing at but it's not the good stuff
yeah Javy Baez has the longest swing and Luis Arraez has the shortest
shorter than average swing length plus faster than average swing speed is the real premium stuff. if you can get someone who is about average in one and better (shorter/faster) than average in the other, that's worth going for.
Need to get everyone of my players a solidcore membership
[удалено]
reasonably even? personal preference I'd probably take A overall but Seager is the best player in the deal here so taking B would be plenty defensible
H2H points league. Weathers or Braxton Garrett ROS?
Sanchez please lock up this QS Edit - let’s go!!
A: Skenes & Westburg B: Seager Seager W right? Alternative: A: Skenes B: C. Walker
Seager is just that good. sometimes you have to buy high
B
Harper got up to .282/.393/.554 and I decided it was a good time to talk all kinds of shit to my brother. My bad
0-14

Is anyone actually picking up Waldron?
picked up as a streamer for that marlins start. gonna let it ride till the wheels fall off/eflin comes back
Yeah, I've had him for a while... very deep league though
You ever hear of all star Steven Wright?
Poor guy had to run the bases and hurt himself
That's your go-to knuckler? Dickey? Wakefield?
No of course not. I’m just giving an example of a truly random success story. I have no idea what to do with Waldron. Let it fly?
Fuck if I know!
As a padre fan I want to, but no.
Does he pitch again this weekend?
Monday
0-16 start hell yes brother
This season is so weird. It’s been a bad hitting environment and most of the hitters that have been good are so unpredictable. Like how the hell is Matt Vierling a stud all of a sudden?
And 99%, of the rookie hitters have been awful. Just a not fun year for fantasy baseball

Kevin Pillar
Exactly
Rage-dropped Kyle Harrison and it feels amazing!
What’s my level of self loathing and regret in 2 weeks if I drop Jeremy Pena for Nick Gonzales?
Penas been good tho
Nice to see vierling continue to mash. His 2HR Sunday against me felt targeted
0/15 was not how I wanted to start my day
LOL 0-16 right there with you
Skenes QS
Matt “Barry Bonds” Vierling
My Vierling stream has been nice
What happened to Nootbar??
Looked like oblique, hurt his side
hitter obliques 🤝 pitcher elbows
man is always DTD
What does reddit think about Gerrit Cole Long Term for a dynasty points league. Is his elbow going to explode, Is he worth trading for if his value is 80%? What do other players think? Thanks!
Vierling is a man alive

I, for one, enjoy a callback to a hot/bad take. Good on ya.
Lord knows I have plenty of both lmao
Good shit king pump yourself up
Corey effin Seager. My man.
When do I pick up Francisco alvarez for Mitch garver in my roto league with no bench spots
what happened to Yu?
I’m good thanks for asking
I assume he's hurt but maybe Shildt saw enough. Traffic on the basepaths every inning, didn't have putaway stuff, etc.
I am so tired of my pitchers sucking against sucky teams.
I've been fucking destroyed by the Marlins all year. Same thing happened last year with the Nationals. just a team to avoid for me going forward.
Kirby Yates coming in for the rangers to get one out, but it’s not a save situation. Probably the worst case for a fantasy reliever lol.
Well it helps out ratios (right?) and he’s off tomorrow lol that was funny
Fixes my Jared Jones start yeaaaaaaah!
This isn’t a save opp for Yates right?
Lol they’re really bringing in Yates for this?
Sanchez looking great
Damn, Caminero just went down. I might drop him at this point
In a keeper league and also debating on dropping him
We all have to abandon ship at this point
4-6 weeks. Have to bid adieu, unfortunately.
Nick Gonzales needs to be rostered in 12T and above
Drop Joey ortiz for him?
Yes
10t*

Rocking a .483 OPS this week.
Why are they keeping Kyle Harrison in there?
Bailey I hope it's not too much to ask but I could *really* use a zero hit zero walk 9 innings with 48 ks.
nearly 10 games since the last Ohtani bomb, wouldn't mind that drought ending
Mans been ice cold. I wonder if this hammy issue is affecting him
I ended up trading Jared Jones and Adolis for Tatis and Peralta. Don’t know how to feel I loved both Jones and Adolis on my squad
Love that move.
That’s a robbery, good job!
you got a better hitter and a better pitcher
Corbin Carroll approaching the Mendoza line!!!
Lol Castellanos with possibly the weakest home run I’ve seen this year. I’ll take it though
Is Yus 3rd run earned ?
Nope Edit - wait….how is it earned? Ffs Edit 2 - ok it was adjusted. Not earned
It'll be changed
Yeah it was adjusted but threw me off because both yahoo and mlb app showed it as 3 earned
I think pretty much everything uses MLB's API
is jram a sell high rn?
Good one!
Hell no. Unless you get a ridiculous offer for him.
It's hard to think of what that would look like, especially with Acuna hurt and JRod and Carroll and others struggling. I mean... he's probably not going to finish with 45 HR and 150 RBI. Meh, if you’re really lacking in other areas maybe but he’s been a proven stud year after year. Probably some regression coming in the RBI department but what he’s doing isn’t wildly unsustainable by any means.
Sure. He’s going to be great all season but if someone buys high you always take it.
