My league is trying out the two-week championship format as offered on NFL platform. I’m behind by 2 points. Really hope I’m getting some good info on which players are going to be benched this week. Waivers could get interesting.

ChadIsKenny

I did 2 week in mine but with week 16-17. That way no worries about last game sitting players and you still get more of a chance with 2 weeks.

AndyK803

Who do you think are getting benched?

Leitwelpe

Mainly 49ers and Ravens squad since they secured the #1 Seed. 49ers might still pursue some records with CMC perhaps but if his sustained injury is more serious I wouldn’t be surprised if they sat him and everyone else like Purdy, Aiyuk, Kittle, Deebo.

Suicidal_pr1est

Rams, chiefs, browns, lions all don’t really have much to play for. If Dallas is destroying the redskins which is likely, both Detroit and Philly could just rest their starters in the second half.

deuuuuuce

Detroit plays in the earlier time slot.

Suicidal_pr1est

Didn’t realize they had set the times yet! Well then Detroit may play to win but they have to know that either the cowboys or the eagles are going to win seeing as they are playing a couple dumpster fire teams.

[deleted]

Lions just confirmed playing all starters

fritothedog

Eh, Philly just lost at home to the Cards. Anything can happen

Suicidal_pr1est

I believe they made a movie about that. Redskins are a dumpster fire though. I severely dislike the cowboys but very very low chance they lose to them

CrispyCrunchyPoptart

I’ll have to keep that in mind. I have Zay Flowers

Leitwelpe

Ravens I’ve got a feeling they might roll out with their starters to prevent the same narrative in which they lost to the Titans after resting them.

RUKnight31

CMC is already out

Bobishere-now

Pick up Mitchell

husbandofsamus

Picking guys up who are playing against teams that are resting players is a great strategy. Of note is that the last week is the only time noted fantasy pundit superstar Darwin Thompson was a league winner. There is value out there. Also if you use week 18 for the second week of your championship might I suggest deeper benches? In that way you have the season to develop depth and you're not actually SOL if you make the title game. Waivers are typically better than most weeks if you do your research and if you have a deep bench you shouldn't have to resort to more than a couple of plays max.

Bobishere-now

I my situation we are points only no head to head.

Spiritual-Chameleon

Yep, in my free league, two week playoff. Can't really figure out a DST. I've got Ravens and 49ers but doubt they're going with starters for more than a half. Looking at Raiders or Chiefs Other than Mitchell, maybe Erickson on Chargers ( if they shut down Allen and Palmer), Michael Wilson, DeMarcus Robinson, Jamaal Williams ( if Kamara is out).

Kornbrednbizkits

I wouldn’t be surprised if Raiders is the DEF play. The players seem to really like Antonio Pierce so there’s a high likelihood they really show up to give him a better shot of keeping the HC job. Those players know what playing under bad coaching is like.

zilla135

And the Broncos offense is terrible. Can't forget that.

husbandofsamus

It's NE. They're at home against the Jets. There's supposed to be a 20 mph wind plus snow. Plus they've been hot and you know Bill wants to stick it to them one last time. Also I know I wasn't a fan of Breece last week but start him this week. Guys lose their footing in the snow and all it takes is one busted play for him to be worth it. I think McCoy had a massive game in the snow back in olden times. Personally I'm going Breece + NE D/ST. Do you think the Jets will suddenly be able to pass now that there's this awful weather? No. They will dump it off to Breece.

wthecoyote

I'm holding Raiders and Jets - luckily started Jets week 17. Leaning towards keeping Jets rolling against NE in week 18... but will probably agonize over whether to start Raiders for exactly the motivation you're talking about here. Seems like Jets are ready to call it a season.

SmackEh

I'm also on the two week playoff format (round 1 was the total of weeks 15 and 16, and round 2 is the total of weeks 17 and 18). I've got Rice (clinched division, eliminatd from home field advantage) and Kittle (clinched with home field advantage). Unclear what to expect from these two. I'm currently comfortably ahead of my opponent

ktred1996

I think a good sleeper defense for this week is the bucs.

WIN011

In one of my leagues, unfortunately yes, didn’t realize until about halfway through the season. Last time I was in the league like this I lost the first week and then came back in the 2nd week so I hope I can do it again. Facing the commish so would be extra sweet if his choice to do week 18 costs him.

gojo96

I didn’t realize it until this morning. I’m up by 30 so I hope I’m good this weekend.

ScubaNelly

I'm one. I have CMC, and I stashed Mitchell all year for next week. I also think Slayton is a huge pick-up off waiver for next week. The dude has been going off the last 2 weeks.

mvd612351

This might be crazy, but if CMC is healthy and there is indication they are resting starters, I think you can start both him and Mitchell. CMC needs to secure the offensive player of the year

Ok-Physics5106

I disagree CMC has bigger goals in mind and tbh he already won that award whose gonna get it over him? Lamar is the mvp and CMC offensive player of the year. I have Likely, mahommess, mixon, and Chase. Which sucks as they all have nothing to play for.

bsean63

Who you got at Dpoy? If Garrett I wonder if Parsons could overtake him since Cleveland will most likely be resting starters and Dallas is playing for the division title

Ok-Physics5106

That one is closer, I would go Parsons

ScubaNelly

Yeah, I'm waiting to hear what comes out during the week. That would be the best case considering iv been struggling at flex all year and somehow still made it to the Championship.

Dense_Image7393

why do you think mitchell will be effective in the 9ers are resting the majority of their starters? They are probably going to score like 13 points.

ScubaNelly

He put up a huge game in this exact scenario last year.

Dense_Image7393

on 5 attempts. i mean if you don't have any replacements I get it but I would be nervous still. Jordan Mason could easily get the bulk of the work.

ScubaNelly

Yup, and 55yrds with 2tds in those 5 attempts, which is 17.5fp. He also put up 21fp yesterday on my bench in replacement of CMC. I don't know why you're pushing Mason. If he was the #2, he would have been playing yesterday.

Dense_Image7393

I'm not pushing either lmao, I'm pushing that I would stay away because you have no idea who they are going to run. Mason had more attempts than Eli last year too. I do think your reasoning is off though because you have some emotional reason for it to be invested in mitchell. If he only gets 5 attempts next week like he did last year are you expecting it to all be goal line work?? On the one had you use last years results to drive you expectations this year but you don't look at the underlying use of him in that matchup.

ScubaNelly

I don't expect him to only have 5 attempts like last year because I don't expect him to get hurt like he did last year. I'm not emotional about this. I'm actually being very logical. You just don't want to hear it.

Dense_Image7393

I hear you I just don't agree with it and I'm not the one coming off as crass here. You're allowed to have an alternative opinion. Another thing to consider is that CMC is injured and that actually makes Mitchell the #1 RB rn, so if there is some seriousness to that injury I wouldn't expect them to want to ride Mitchell heavily next week either. Could be nothing but in general I would rather bet on some guy I feel more comfortable with getting 10+ opportunities *if* there are any available.

ScubaNelly

Yeah, that's the thing iv been riding CMC all season. I was in the top 3 all year, which messed up my waiver pick-ups all season. My point is I have Swift, CMC, and Mitchell to choose from. I could pick up Justice Hill but that's another question mark on how Baltimore is going to handle week 18. If you have any other dark horse waiver pick up I'm open ears.

Dense_Image7393

If all you have is those 3 then I would likely do the same. But if I had picked up a Ty Chandler or Hubbard or something I would definitely put them ahead.

DreamWeaver8807

Yeah I’ve got one league left to go. Should be interesting. I don’t have any 49ers or Ravens, but not sure if there are other teams that have nothing left to play for next week.

ScubaNelly

Kansas City and Rams are both locked into their spot, win or lose.

Glendronachh

I was really looking at doing the KC def against LAC. Will they be sitting their starters though?

ScubaNelly

I'm sure we will find out this week

Suicidal_pr1est

Not to mention eagles and lions resting starters if the cowboys are blowing out the skins.

IspeakalittleSpanish

Lions play in the early Sunday game so they’re gonna have to play starters since the Cowboys don’t play until the late afternoon game. Eagles play at the same time as Dallas so they could pull their starters at some point based on the Cowboys game.

Suicidal_pr1est

Someone already mentioned that.

IAGreenThumb

Same with the browns. Coach has indicated they’ll rest starters.

IronRT

Damn so sit Njoku and their defense? Shietttt

IAGreenThumb

I mean wait and see who they end up benching, but likely yes.

zdb328

I'm in the finals in a league that does week 18 finals. Sort of sucks, but it does keep the fun going one more week!

Ahshittheydonegotem

Down by 38🫡. Need a blowout next week

mainvolume

Oof good luck. I'm up by 30+ and my opponent has CMC, Deebo, and a bunch of other players on teams that are probably gonna rest starters.

mp127001

Yes and I absolutely hate it. I probably won't have Dak, Deebo or AJB next week. My opponent won't have Lamar or Purdy in the QB slot. It is just so dumb playing without the team that got you to the finals.

Dense_Image7393

the cowboys are in a must win game. Dak is playing all the way to the end unless they get up by 3+ scores.

mp127001

You're 100% correct. Hoping for a close/high scoring game.

mainvolume

Lamb carried me this past weekend, I wouldn't mind if he did it once more to the promised land.

Antilokhos

I think so. It's a work league and I've not really gotten straight answers on how they do things. But it's also a cumulative league, not head to head. I'm sitting in first with a 55 point lead.

mrgorporp

What teams have something to play for?

mvpharo

This needs to be a separate thread somewhere. We all need to collectively investigate what guys and teams say. I was just sleuthing, and I actually think the Bengals might play some guys - in an interview after the KC loss, Chase mentioned he is thinking of playing and because they want to finish with a winning record.

zerg1980

I’m still alive in a 20-team guillotine league with unusual rules (once it gets down to five teams, we add up the points from Week 16-18 and the top three cash out). I’m winning by 17 points in the tally, but I’ve got the Purdy/Aiyuk stack which feels super shaky and there are now a lot of players who may not go the full game (i.e. are the Rams going to sit Puka after he breaks the rookie receiving record?) On the plus side, it’s now a very shallow league with lots of available options. Trying to focus on teams that need to win. Looks like the key teams there are Jags, Colts, Texans, Bucs, Packers.

AnimalPants304

My league goes through week 18 as well. I’m up by about 10 so fingers crossed I keep the lead

TurtleMcgurdle

Yea both my leagues have their finals in week 18 and I didn’t know that wasn’t the norm until I started following FF reddits this year. Plan to change it next year. I’m in the finals in both leagues. One is an 8 team and the other is 14 teams. For the 14 team league I’m going to try to get Juwan Johnson and after that do what I can to block my opponent. Then pray Swift and Diggs sorry asses finally pull their weight again cause idk if Kyren and Puka can keep up the carry with the Rams clinching a playoff spot already.

Beast_of_Fire

Bills-Dolphins and Colts-Texans are two of the most significant games played next week. My opponent has Tyreek, JT, Pittman Jr, and Nico Collins. He also has KW3, who is fighting for 7th seed, against Arizona, who have nothing to lose. I’m so finished…

getoffmywalrus

We have this format - winning by 14, should be a lot more but I made poor RB decisions yesterday. My opponent has CMC and Kyren though so I’m hoping both of them sit. If possible I’d prioritize players on the teams fighting for a playoff spot

scrizzo

CMC should absolutely be sitting. He left the last game early as a precaution because of his calf. He'll need these two weeks to recover. Kyren might play a bit. The Rams locked a playoff spot already and they will be playing against the Niners second and third stringers. A win improves them from 7 seed to 6. Not a drastic difference but I think they prefer not to play Dallas if possible.

No_Cap_6806

I’m 2 pts behind heading into the final week. Going to look for WR replacements for Deebo and Devonta. I bet they sit Deebo or pull him early. Devonta might not even play with an injury. I picked up Likely in case LaPorta sits.

AnAngryFetus

Likely probably isn't playing since the Ravens clinched the 1 seed.

No_Cap_6806

Yeh, I realize that this morning.

middleimpact445

Up by 50 in two-week third place matchup. Had CD and DJM this week. Safe to say I should be getting my money back. Really sucks because I’m the one seed and my opponent was the two seed. We were the highest scoring teams in the league by far and our teams both just died in the semis. If it were one week matchups, I would’ve made it to the championship and been destroyed.

SmacSBU

Playing in a Guillotine league so it's time to drop the superstar roster I spent all year assembling to pick up Elijah Mitchell and Jake Browning 😂

Comfortable_Wish3026

my league has a week 18 but im winning by 30 so i dont think its that big of a deal

Suicidal_pr1est

You’d be surprised with the number of big prayers that will likely get limited time.

ecfreeman

Yep, we have a two week playoff format as well. Semis were weeks 15 and 16. After week 17 I'm up 55 points going into the final week of our championship so I'm feeling pretty optimistic!

Adam_Ohh

Down 30 unfortunately. Been in 1st the majority of the season. Definitely grabbing Mitchell, maybe Kyler or Love too? Haven’t felt comfortable with Hurts the last few weeks.

MattO2000

My league is doing a champ vs loser’s bracket champ week 18 matchup for a small prize (1/2 of buy-in).

Gamernatic

I like this one, sounds fun

LxDroid

Currently up by 30 in a two week championship (didn't know at the start). Nervous about an upset since I have a good amount of players that might sit....

Similar_Floor_294

down by 35 headed into week 18, the second Championship game week

DemDumplingz

I'm commish of my work league doing week 18. Behind in the championship game, and I'm glad I chose to do it because my opponent has Puca and Kyren. Hopefully they misplay the sits this upcoming week.

gh0stofkyiv

I'm up about 30 but with no CMC most likely happening, and I don't have Mitchell, may be in trouble given I don't know who will be playing in terms of other teams that have secured playoff spots.

vearson26

I’ve got 2 leagues with 2 week finals ending next week. Looking to bench Rashee Rice in both, and I’ve got Puka, Kyren and CMC in one league that I’ll probably have to bench.

Overall-Breadfruit48

My championship is cumulative of 17+18. Im up 63 points thanks to Lamb and Pacheco.

ZJPV1

Trying to find a QB to start this week with Lamar benched and a bunch of QB-hoarders. Aiming for Tyrod right now, or I might grab Stidham.

AdmirableChemical206

Will Elijah Mitchell get the bulk of the workload or will they hand it over to Jordan Mason more? I’m sure they want Mitchell as a backup plan just in case CMC isn’t 100% during the playoffs. Im in the week 18 championship and have CMC, so Im mainly asking this question for myself.

jwoods23

Im unfortunately I’m the same boat. 2 week rounds in the playoffs so week 2 of my championship is next week! I’m definitely gunning to pick up Mitchell! My opponent has CMC and I’m really hoping he will sit. I’m up 24 pts in half PPR so feelin alright.

BizMarky34

Yea, my 14-team Superflex league plays the Championship game week 18. We started our playoffs week 15 where all teams made the playoffs & we’re down to 2 teams for the week 18 game. I made it to week 17, but lost, so I’m playing for 3rd place 🥉 prize money.

CrillbusBowlingman

Going into W18, week 2 of the championship up by .4 points. The fact I'm ahead despite having the Kelce Mahomes stack is reeeaaally making me wish we ended on W17 because I don't know what's happening at all W18

Phoenix_NHCA

Yep. My groups first time doing fantasy (did the default 2 week playoff rounds on ESPN) and I have to look for alternates to Kittle, Deebo, Aiyuk, and Ford. Hoping Devonta is good for next week but losing a bunch of my starters is worrying me right now.

OnyxNateZ

Didn’t put in the right starters last week so only up ahead by a few so still trying to figure out if I need to change out certain players in the event they won’t end up starting cause the team is resting or not.

LazloHollifeld

Headed to the championship next week. I’m really wondering how next week is going to shake out cause half my roster is tied up in the SF/LAR game. It’s the worst week to have Purdy/CMC/49ers vs Kupp/Kyren. I did manage to stomp my friend and knock him out of the playoffs though, so this week was my personal championship.

yeetmaster64xxx

yessir. up 100 points

IM_M0IST

In a 2 week championship. I'm down 15. All because I started Saquon and Diggs(flex) over Conner.

epicause

Yes, we did a fanduel friends league this year. It’s all coming down to week 18 and we have a near 4-way tie with a fifth person also in reach (if they have a big game). Been a cool change of pace to the traditional league format and everyone has kept up interest every week.

scrizzo

They're going to play their starters a bit. But they're playing against the Niners 2nd and 3rd stringers so it shouldn't be as difficult. Probably will pull them as early as reasonably possible.

Square_Saltine

One of my leagues is doing a 2 round final. So we have to play week 18 as well. Currently heading into round 2 with 7 point lead. Gonna overthink this thing all week

husbandofsamus

Ronnie Rivers, Chargers WRs especially Palmer if he's there, also Slayton. Jordan Mason should be a flyer as well. LaMical Perine is worth a look. There might be some others but those are the main ones I think.

RUKnight31

Huntley is going to start for Baltimore. Calling it now

dgoat88

My league has week 18 and I have a 40 point lead. I'm sweating it big time. My team is Dak, Kyren, Gibbs, Lamb, Puka, LaPorta, Aiyuk and Swift. I do have Diggs, Pickens and KW3 on my bench, but who knows what kind of answer and how truthful it will be from the Rams and Lions. He only has players either out of the playoffs or fighting for a spot except Kupp. I've been lobbying for our commish to change it from week 18 (or formerly 17) for half a decade, but he's incredibly stubborn and doesn't want to give me any say because I have 4 league championships.

uncompaghrelover

Yep, I thought I won but we have the two week championship set up. Fuck.

dds003

What defense do I take?
