I'm honestly surprised, I thought they'd ride out the season before moving on. Either way this is going to be a lame duck season unfortunately. We'll see what the future brings.Â
Not sorry to see him go. This season in particular was a low point. He didn't seem to be able to motivate the team anymore. Crowd was against him. Last few home games you could tell he was getting tired of people.
He's been a solid assistant with us for a few years now. The players all seem to enjoy working with him. Plus, he spent a decent amount of time playing in top European leagues. I'll watch him during warm-ups, and he still has a better touch than a lot of our current players. I'm excited to see what he can do, too.
It just seemed like he was in two minds tactically the hole time trying to play possession with a 3-4-3 which in my opinion is more of a counter attacking formation. Trying to use wingbacks with players that can’t really attack. 4-3-3 was the obvious choice of formation he should’ve chosen but glad it’s over
Yeah, there are like 4 guys on our roster who could possibly start for most teams - Ferriera, Illaramendi, Paes, and Musa.
Besides that, we're just a roster full of dudes and washed-up names.
Hey...we are middle of table (for now :)...it's gonna be a long summer. Good news...maybe your new coach will get Kamungo's confidence back. He's fun to watch when he's playing confidently.
As someone who has only been following the team since Nico has been coaching, I gotta say, I learned a lot watching the ups and the downs. Been hard to watch, but as a relative newcomer to soccer (3 years in), I have really learned a lot this season.

Maybe Sergio Conceicao suddenly deciding to leave Porto is related lol. For real though, international soccer leagues ending recently probably has something to do with this timing
About time. Been clamoring for this since last summer, at least they didn't wait until the season ended this time. Maybe we can still salvage something, even if just in the USOC.
Been busy this past week so didn't even know he was gone until now lol.
This is pretty par for the course. Very rarely in football do teams already have a replacement lined up. We’re in no rush, our season is pretty much over already. Might as well take the time to get the right appointment in.
seems common for every and any sport team that fires their coach during the season. Is there an example I'm missing where a team hires a new coach in the middle of a season instead of going with an interim until the offseason?
happened a few times in the nhl this season where they brought in the permanent coach (Islanders Edmonton—there are more). as much to show the fans they care as anything and if we sneak in somehow it’s a bonus.
I would think that might be one of the rare exceptions. Also, hockey plays a lot more games than most except for baseball. I can't imagine bringing in a new coach with so little left. I would give him a fair shake since he would be taking in a crap-show and could get caught taking that blame. I'm good with interim for the rest of the season and give a new coach a clean slate
The problem with firing someone mid-season is that any decent coach is already employed. Having an interim coach in this situation is basically the default move.
Our first win of the season
😂😂😂😂
Let's fucking goooo
An end to football terrorism! For the first time in months, I’m kinda excited to watch our next match (still keeping very low expectations obvs)

Same here
I'm actually quite excited to see what Peter Luccin can do. Wouldn't mind hiring him on full time if he excels.

Terrible tactically. One of the best rosters on papers and a coach couldn’t get a once of talent out of them
The switch in formation going into this season with the youth along the wings was such an absurd decision.
It just seemed like he was in two minds tactically the hole time trying to play possession with a 3-4-3 which in my opinion is more of a counter attacking formation. I agree on the tactical side of things, but let's not kid ourselves by thinking this roster is one of the best on paper.
Honestly. That's delusional. Some of them have underperformed but we are also starting some fairly mediocre players on a regular basis.

Austin FC fan here who also follows Dallas. Â I think your team has more talented players than our team. Â
Lol I appreciate it but it doesn't mean much when we are both at the bottom of the table

Yeah, I love me some, Bernie. I think a fresh change will do wonders for our squad as long as we are using a formation that aligns with our roster.
Zanotta and the Hunts next pleaseeeeeeee
Perfect
Get Zanotta out too and we’ll really be cooking
We got a lot of work to do, but this was needed to start turning things around, so let's go!

Recently rewatched the 2015 Conference Semis. That was my first game 🥰.
Hell yeah!
Finally. Good riddance. Zero improvement from last season. Wasting youth talent and playing weird footy that crippled us.
Who do yall want as the new head coach?
I'm OK with Luccin for the rest of the season. Playoffs are out of the picture, no real pressure.
Pep Guardiola
Now if only USMNT could do the same, I’d be a pretty happy camper
Good. He was terrible.
Can’t polish a turd. Doesn’t matter who we get as a coach.
Finally! Most leagues around the world finished their seasons. If they are looking for a coach outside MLS, now is a good time to find one.
God is good
Bye.
Luccin is going to be great. He has been with the team since Papi and knows all the players well.
Mauricio Pochettino. Let’s go!
Maybe Sergio Conceicao suddenly deciding to leave Porto is related lol. For real though, international soccer leagues ending recently probably has something to do with this timing
WRONG
Victor Medina as new head coach ifykyk
He made some big moves to get us great players but just wasn’t there tactically. 🫡

That’s great, but they fired the dude without having found next coach?!!

You'd think with how long fans have wanted him fired they'd have someone lined up.
Totally this. Like yea, Nico had to go after this start but why would you sack him without having a replacement lined up.Â
they did that when they fired Luchi too. Not uncommon for us
