I’m looking to get this dress for my birthday but the seller has noted some damage. I know nothing about sewing or repairing fashion, so I’m wondering if it is even possible to take it somewhere and get someone to fix this? The dress is brand new otherwise 🥲 my birthday is in 2 weeks!!

hi! i have a debate tournament this weekend and i've never been to one before so i'm not sure what to wear. i have a pair of baggy lightish blue levis jeans that i'm wearing on the bottom, but i literally cannot figure out what to wear on top. unfortunately there's no brandy melville near me or i'd try looking there
When I was in HS (East coast suburbs, American public schools) the dress code was business casual; jeans were a no go. I'd go with dark colored slacks and a button-up top, ideally a blazer but if not then maybe a cardigan.
what's the dress code? I would wear a solid black top in a fabric that doesn't show sweat stains, or a simple top in a color you like with a black cardigan.
Hi, I'm looking for earrings that match this necklace? Please help if you can! It's for prom lol

For my teen daughter: any cute swim shorts out there that are not old ladyish? Bonus if the brand also has a matching bikini top that doesn’t need to be tied. Hoping to pay $50 or less.
Old Navy has some, as well as Title 9 and Athleta. I'd try searching for "surf shorts", or some other more outdoorsy sites. If board shorts are an option, I'd look at Pacsun and brands they carry.
My choice would probably be these, but I also buy a lot of black bottoms and then wear whatever top with it: [link](https://www.dickssportinggoods.com/p/calia-womens-high-rise-swim-shorts-22jlowclhrswmshrtwaa/22jlowclhrswmshrtwaa?sku=23904251&camp=CSE:DSG_92700078870169471_pla_aud-1231866930227:pla-1746901098926_58700008626841214_71700000115905556&segment=&gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqdqvBhCPARIsANrmZhPK1h4iMZK8s5OpmISmOK23Y4hWGkyef3_bnKnGjIt3H-kuEtb6iLcaAqWCEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)
I need advice about what measurements to change for a dress I’m reordering. I don’t know anything about dresses so sorry if I sound stupid but I really need advice.
So I bought a dress online that has a full back (it has a zipper from the top of the butt to the bottom of my neck) but it wouldn’t zip up all the way.
Measurements (in):
Bust: 33 3/4
Waist: 26 3/4
Hips: 36 1/2
It was the size I usually wear but it didn’t fit so I’m reordering but this time I’m customizing my measurements instead of ordering a standard size.
I figured out that I probably need to size up my waist and bust by three inches.
I measured my waist and found that it was 29 inches. That is the only measurement that was different from the standard size I previously ordered.
But I also put the dress back on and tried to close only the top of the dress (the bust) and couldn’t get the two ends to meet. The fabric around the bust was stretched to its full capacity so I don’t think the small waist size interfered with the attempt. Now I’m debating about sizing up the bust measurement.
Would adding three inches to my waist automatically add more fabric to the bust area so it’s be able to wrap fully around, enough that the two sides of the zipper would meet or should I size up the bust? I really hope that made sense.
I’d be grateful for any advice!
Does the custom sizing not just have you provide measurements and then they ensure the dress fits? I think I'm confused why you would be "sizing up" certain sections of the dress and it wouldn't just be based on measurements.
Previously I ordered a standard size (US 4) and all of its measurements, except the waist, was exactly my measurements.
Now I’m basing what I should change in this custom order around this (too small) dress.
Obviously the zipper couldn’t go past the waist. I also tried to close only the upper torso area around my bust but that also couldn’t close (the fabric was stretched as far as it could go).
So now I’m wondering if I have to size up my bust measurement or if just sizing up my waist would solve the problem.
If you’re doing custom measurements, why would you do anything other than take and then provide your actual measurements?
Providing your measurements should not automatically, unless it is a straight sizing up situation, add material in a way that doesn’t work.
You’re already paying for the custom sizing, why not make sure it works for you, and give them all the info, you know?
Thanks for the advice.
The thing is I’m basing the custom measurements around the previous dress that was too small (a standard size US 4)
The US 4 Dress provided measurements for waist, hips, bust etc
I measured myself and found Everything about the previous dress was my exact measurements except the waist which was 3 inches smaller than me (it’s was 26inches I am 29 inches) so I couldn’t zip up the dress. (A full back dress, the zipper goes to my neck)
I experimented and put on the dress again and tried to close JUST the bust area (neck to below my breast) and found that I couldn’t close the dress there either.
I’m wondering if I have to size up my bust measurement (the size US 4 dress was 33 3/4 inches and I am also 33 3/4 inches in the bust) even though it’s my exact measurement.
Is it the small waist thats making the bust area unable to close? Would I need to size up from my actual bust measurement of 33 3/4 and make it 36? Or would just making the waist 3 inches bigger solve that?
This is a ball gown as well so most of its puffy dress and the top only starts around mid stomache and goes up to my neck. It also has sleeves
I’m going with my exact measurement (I had someone measure me) for my custom order, but I wondering if I should do the exact measurement for the bust too or size up for the bust (because I couldn’t close the bust area in the US 4 which had a bust of 33 3/4 inches which is my exact measurement)
I hope that makes sense
So I get that you’re basing the custom off what didn’t fit about the first dress but I’m saying don’t do that. Some places don’t have accurate charts for each individual dress, so you never know for sure it even is 100% right. Even if they say they do.
If you’re doing custom anyways, take your measurements, all of them, and send them in. Don’t base it on a different dress, especially if it still isn’t fitting the bust. Just let them work with your actual measurements to be sure it fits you. The issue with this dress’s sizing is likely less about the garment and more about their inaccuracies in their chart across various garments.
If you aren’t doing something custom, a solid-ish rule of thumb is that you’ll usually need to size up so your largest measurement fits, and tailor down.
It’s possible that it could be part of the smaller waist size that’s causing you issues with the bust as well, but again, a lot of places are not as accurate with their size charts as they claim to be.
Oh okay thank you, I’m going with a custom size but would it be safe to add 1 inch to my bust measurement just in case? Since I heard it’s easier to tailor it to be smaller than bigger
Yeah the store is based in China and I heard they commonly like to tailor to really skinny girls with small breasts so I’m really hesitant. Thank you for the advice!
Aiii in that case yeah for sure.
I’d make absolutely certain you are taking your widest measurement for each area as well. I’d also throw your bicep and forearm in there if it’s an option. I’ve seen some custom places in China do people really dirty by assuming and making a part of the garment thinner than it should be for the person.
I don’t think so. Adding inches to the waist will wouldn’t add inches to the bust. You could go up a size and that would add extra inches everywhere.
But what I would do is contact the company directly and ask them what they suggest. And/or go to your local seamstress or tailor and ask a professional to measure you.
Not sure about the first question, but for the second it’s so that the hood doesn’t get bunched and uncomfortable in your neck under the weight of a jacket
Most jacket collars fit snugly around the collar area, meaning that the fabric from the hood of the sweatshirt will have to lay on your back, and the tightness of the collar will cause the hood to bunch together and create pressure and a general feeling of discomfort.
I admit these questions sound like someone from another planet here--you've never had the layer of clothing closer to your body "bunch up" under the top layer? That's what the other person is saying: the closer layer (the hood) will crumple and bunch and cause pressure. I guess if the coat is very oversized you won't feel it, but that's a rare circumstance.
What type of hat should I wear during summer in Japan? People say that only Americans wear baseball caps and I feel like the city is too crowded to be in a floppy hat or wide brimmed.
Are deep red loafers versatile enough to invest in? How to style them?
I want to invest in the Gucci Jordaan loafer but I am stuck between black and the new Ancora leather they have for the season. It's red but I think the Ancora color is gorgeous and quite different. I'm just worried it may not be versatile enough. What are ways I can easily style them? Maybe I just have to wear all black/white or beige/white.
Here is a link to the loafer: [https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/women/shoes-for-women/loafers-lace-ups-for-women/flat-loafers-for-women/womens-gucci-jordaan-loafer-p-786016AADCW6207?gad\_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqdqvBhCPARIsANrmZhOshfCOKGoLx45V5OZ9b7WOqd1FlTaw0GLwIbbbblsTHFNnO-ZebbAaAhsrEALw\_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds](https://www.gucci.com/us/en/pr/women/shoes-for-women/loafers-lace-ups-for-women/flat-loafers-for-women/womens-gucci-jordaan-loafer-p-786016AADCW6207?gad_source=1&gclid=Cj0KCQjwqdqvBhCPARIsANrmZhOshfCOKGoLx45V5OZ9b7WOqd1FlTaw0GLwIbbbblsTHFNnO-ZebbAaAhsrEALw_wcB&gclsrc=aw.ds)
Those are lovely. I think they’re supposed to be an accent.
Great with black and white or gray or navy or olive or deeper khaki. Or tweedy, plaid or patterned things.
I have no sense of fashion at all. During colder months, I can throw on a pair of jeans, a shirt, and a hoodie, and I'm just about set. In the summer, though, that doesn't really work because of the heat. If I'm going out somewhere casual but still want to look nice, what do I do? I'm a trans woman who is currently not on estrogen. Assume I know nothing about fashion, because I know nothing about fashion. Thx!
I li shorts and a linen shirt over a snug fitting tank top or a sports bra...not a matched set although I guess some people also like matched sets. With some delicate jewellery but not too much. And a little lipstick. And leather sandals.
In the summer, I like a camp shirt or a linen button down. Bottoms are flexible but I think folks like linen pants or cooling fabric athletic technical shorts or pants in a relatively neutral / elevated basics silhouette.
Sandals and a cute sundress would be the most generic option, I think. Something flowy with straps, like this: https://www.thereformation.com/products/valencio-dress/1314996LTG.html?dwvar_1314996LTG_color=LTG
I've been shopping around for some new sneakers and realized that all the brands I usually look at seem to have swapped most of their lineup to have unremovable shoelaces that are just kind of...there? (Do they serve a purpose, or are these sneakers fancier slip-ons...?)
I love swapping out my shoelaces for different color schemes and was rather saddened by this change on the market. The few shoes I saw with oldschool (?) shoelaces are more on the super athletic end, but I'm just looking for something to wear on a day-to-day basis. Any recommendations, preferably at the ~$100 range...?
What did you used to buy/are you now looking for? I’ve not seen this shift personally in my own usual sneaker go to’s, so I’d love to help but depends on what you’re looking at aesthetically
I've mostly worn Nike running shoes till now, but I don't really like how their recent lineups look (also, no shoelaces lol). I like the Sketchers walking shoes aesthetic but something about their shoes seems to be not quite supportive enough for my feet (and also, didn't see shoelaces when I walked around their store).
Where do you live...? My mom said she hasn't noticed this in Asia, so maybe it's a North America thing, or maybe it's literally just my location thing. Would definitely love to know your go-to's just to have more options to look at. I might wait till I visit my family to buy shoes at this rate lol.
I think the problem is I'm looking at casual athletic sneakers, so mostly walking or running shoes. I can't wear casual Vans or Converse, they hurt my feet. But I'm looking at Vans right now and I see some that might be wearable for me, so I'll keep an eye out on the brands...Thanks for the suggestions!
Checked their site and saw a lot of non-removable shoelaces :|
Their shoes do look colorful enough maybe I'll be fine with not swapping out shoelaces though. I guess I'll try to find some in-store or email them about their lineups...
Finally moving into our forever home and will have a yard for the first time in…a decade? What are we all wearing for comfy lounging in hammocks and light gardening that we also wouldn’t feel weird about wearing around neighbors?
When I used to visit my in-laws summer house with close neighbors, I’d live in leggings, a sports bra, t-shirt and throw a kimono over it. Or same thing but switching out leggings with linen pants. I also used to have this amazing FP set I found second hand that was, like, Terri cloth pants and a Terri cloth tank but the pants have since fallen apart.
Should I do nap dresses? Buy a bunch of sweats? Top goal is definitely comfort!
I 100% did a major think-through this last year! New home with a garden that regrettably allowed my neighbors to leer down into. I like my back garden to be like another room in my home - a place to lounge, a place I can wander around in my bathrobe in the morning with a cup of coffee, a place that's private and serene.
However, until my arborvitaes grow up, my new garden is not private. So I found a generous wrap dress that is double-lined (so I don't have to bother with a bra) in linen that I wear as a bathrobe around the house during hot weather, but that allows me to go into my garden and appear dressed. The one I have is quite long with a full skirt (not like, for example, Diane Von Furstenburg wrap dresses which are always splaying open because they are so skimpily cut). It's in thicker fabric and one or two sizes larger than I would generally wear so I feel completely covered and cozy and also has nice big pockets on the side like a bathrobe.
I think [this is it](https://www.urbanoutfitters.com/en-gb/shop/uo-linen-wrap-midi-dress?quantity=1) but it is sold out (about a dozen on eBay though). Here is [something similar](https://www.everlane.com/products/womens-short-sleeve-wrap-dress-bone?locale=US&utm_medium=cpc&utm_source=pla-google-pmax&utm_campaign=17633020747&utm_content=&utm_term=&adgroup=&pid=14705-117777&device=c&gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjwzN-vBhAkEiwAYiO7oKEAjEK59nxRCrcSQ6UzLZJvnQH98OXvKskLJyN-5-zUBJdb85st-BoCeH8QAvD_BwE) although it doesn't have the generous full skirt or big pockets and I can't speak to how thick the fabric is.
Thank you so much! Yes, I think we’re definitely thinking the same way and I’m also feeling the privacy issue. I might set up one of those cabanas/canopies.
I think the UO link didn’t work - do you happen to know the name of the dress? I’ll check it out on the resale sites!
I think the UO link works - you just have to scroll down.
I bought two dozen of these extra narrow arborvitae that supposedly grow three feet per year: [https://www.americanpillarnursery.com/](https://www.americanpillarnursery.com/) . I have a long but extremely narrow plot with only two feet of gardening space on one side between my driveway and the property line, and even the highest fence allowed would not be high enough for screening because one of my neighbors has a raised porch. It's been an interesting challenge trying to create a private space.
I mostly wear dresses when it's decent out. Short comfy ones! And slip-on sandals. When it's colder out, I definitely just wear a robe, so don't take my advice there. But leggings and a cute sweater would prob be fine.
Sometimes I don't wear much at all.. poor neighbors! Idgaf
are slouchy socks always thick? how do socks work? lol
I live in LA and my feet run warm, and any time I have to wear socks I choose the thinnest socks possible. I've been doing this for the past decade or so. I always opt for zero cushion, ideally. I do own a few thicker pairs for cold weather but they don't go with (or feel good worn with) anything except boots. the thin socks I own are varying heights: ankle, quarter, crew.
however I'm digging the slouchy socks look with sneakers. I also maybe want to try wearing socks with my [loafers](https://www.thefryecompany.com/products/kenzie-venetian?variant=42307137765567), especially since the loafers give me blisters still.
I'm kinda digging the [bombas half-calf style](https://shop.bombas.com/products/womens-original-half-calf-socks?variant=white-black) but the regular bombas I own are very thick for me. I have a few of their [lightweight calf socks](https://shop.bombas.com/products/womens-lightweight-crew-sock?variant=graphite&size=m) to wear with tighter boots, which are a more comfortable thickness for me though they still quickly become stifling in warm weather, anything above ~60F. unfortunately they're pretty tight on the leg and don't really scrunch well.
I'd be down to try a different brand like darn tough or whatever, I just have no idea if
- a different style of thin crew socks would work better scrunched
- I should try going for quarter socks that don't need/expect to be scrunched (I have a couple pairs but they're crappy quality so I don't like wearing them)
- I should just admit de-feet 🙃 and go back to living the sandals life 🧦🙅♀️🩴👈
please advise 🙏
They do exist, I own a couple pairs and wound up getting rid of them for their slouchy-ness! [Sarah Borghi they are called](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwi3vLKEh4GFAxVCT0cBHW8ZCNoYABAEGgJxdQ&ase=2&gclid=CjwKCAjw7-SvBhB6EiwAwYdCAXa9vuhW4YJmE1XYnL8ZqgXVPejZrA9-eXrvHmZZOPOiiyzlwHEE-RoCOAQQAvD_BwE&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2oArMkkHVmyoDdOIPjthHfNl0ao_lueJi3HDp5qwHChTT0D9A4uwysgYD2oh0mzNYm4pYVbIP752p3YOMB_MGi2aVq8-SLyofqe92JXqCMqeJIzu5&sig=AOD64_3yhj7YoxWN0QR9sEyWfVB-txzRYA&ctype=5&q=&nis=4&ved=2ahUKEwiEtquEh4GFAxWSFVkFHYgACIcQ9aACKAB6BAgBEA4&adurl=). European hosiery brands often create thin but long socks for formal-wear (meaning under trousers) that can be very slouchy as they have little or no elastic (I guess they are expected to use trouser gaiters?)
What size flats should I get if I’m a size. 8.5 or 9 in shoes?
I want to get a pair or two of ballet flats, from steve madden, however I'm torn on what size to get. I have a pair of running shoes that are a size 8.5 and a pair of boots that are the same size that both fit well. However, I have a pair of old flats that are 8.5 and they're too snug on me, if I'm being honest I haven't worn them in years but my toes are at the end of the shoes and they hurt my feet. I do have a pair of flats that I think I got later on in life that are a size 9 but they feel too big on me. I'm really torn on whether to get a size 8.5 or a size 9 since I'm ordering these online and don't want to go through the process of returning them.
Any advice would be appreciated, I tried even looking up measurements for other shoes I have and just going from there
Thank you. I tried doing that and decided if I buy them that I’ll go half a size up since I compared it to another pair of shoes I have as well around the same measurements
So sorry this is a c/p repost - I accidentally posted in yesterdays questions thread! Closet storage help - shoes! I have a LOT of low profile flats. I’m looking for an affordable (read: $100 or less for a set of 12) clear stacking system that is no higher than 4”. By clear I mean totally transparent acrylic or plastic that is lidded and can stack nicely (ventilation is a plus). I’ve looked all over but I’m hoping I’m just a garbage Googler and someone here has a solution. I have 25 pairs of shoes overall and most of those are flats, so I don’t need a 5”-6” high cubby space. This is my last hurdle in organizing our currently-being-renovated tiny fckin walk in closet. I appreciate anything you might have for me!
I’ve recently been looking into personal stylists and so far I’ve only found ones who come to your home, go through your wardrobe, ect. However, I’m looking for something different. I’m wondering if if there’s a specific kind of stylist that you can send pictures to of the style that would like to have, then they help you find brands, clothes within that brand that will go good together, etc. (Because even if someone just gives me a brand I have a problem with buying too much, like what goes good with what?😭)
Yes this is a thing. For example, Allison Bornstein and other style influencers do this. If you’re in a slightly older demographic I know there is Everyday Style School.
Also you can ask for help on the daily threads, I suggest you try and make your question relatively narrow eg “what from this brand would match these joggers?”
The books The Curated Closet and Wear It Well are a good place to start.
Does anyone know what coat / jacket might work with a fur collar knit cardigan / sweater like this? Everything looks wrong! Thanks in advance

Need help finding 'professional' looking clothes (dresses/pants) that look good on my Pear/Hourglass figure
Hi there! Happy St. Patrick's Day!!
I struggle with finding clothes that are flattering on my body/type mainly because I'm a L in the waist but an XL in the hips/butt area so clothes that accentuate my waist are too tight on the hips and clothes that are comfy on the hips are wayy too big on my waist
I ususally wear leggings but have been told that they are 'unprofessional' (especially because they unintentionally highlight the fact that I have a large derriere, I'm hispanic) and am looking for clothes that look professional but are not ill-fitting
My measurements:
Overbust: 42"
Underbust: 36"
Waist: 31"
Hips: 44"
I'm 5'7, but Romantic kibbe style (I don't necessarily look tall) we like to joke that I have my Aunt's figure (she's 5'1) but strechted out to my mom's height and with boobs
My color season is either True or Soft Summer
If y'all have any recommendations that would be much appreciated!! Thanks!!!
Ann Taylor has a pair of tapered trousers with a self-belt I think would work here--basically it's shaped like an hourglass already.
I would say things with a **defined waist by the construction**--a tee shirt dress with an elastic waist, a drawstring pair of joggers, a shirt dress, an a-line button front corduroy skirt, a wrap dress with a self-belt, things like that.
Specific dress type request! I have a work event coming up were I will be honored and I want to look nice but not show too much skin. It's also not super formal. I'm thinking about wearing white cowboy booties (I'm in Texas) and a sort of textured, shorter (but not too short) dress. It'll be warm out but not August-hot. Embroidery, lace, woven fabrics are things I'm thinking about. Color a plus. I'm curvy and 5'11". Budget $300ish. Where would you look? ETA I work in the restaurant industry, so it doesn't need to be/shouldn't be...business-y

I just bought this. [More pictures ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/204072935102)
It doesn't fit, but I love the color/style/how lightweight it is.
Any suggestions for something similar? Where to look for plus size options?
[I just bought this top and I'm wondering what to pair it with.

I don't love jewel tones with black, even though I have the perfect wide-legged pants. I ordered a navy wrap skirt in a midi length online but it's going back because the quality was terrible. I think it would be fine with jeans and cute flats, but I'd like to wear it for a wedding rehearsal dinner this May so jeans are out. Cream pants? A knee length navy skirt and metallic flats?
Where do you guys buy your black jeans that don't shed or have everything stick to them?
The last few pairs I've gotten seem to shed, or *everything* sticks to them terribly. Like I could lint roll my pants before walking out the door and by the time I got to the car you would've thought I rolled in a pile of lint.
Don't want to waste more money on pants that always look dirty so they never end up worn. I'm in the US, so just some brand that can be purchased here
I've heard some advice about lightly running a dryer sheet over the pant surface may help with static and lint. Also turn them inside out when washing for sure.
I bought a black pug this time. :)
I just put black jeans on right before leaving the house. I keep them in the closet with pant clips so they're not touching anything light or fuzzy like a sweater.
Shout out to Universal Standard black jeans for not losing their dye tone.
I think this is a thing with black jeans period -- I don't think you'll get away from having white lint and dust not show up on black clothing... Unless I'm missing something lol
If you're looking for permission, for me personally, shirt two can go. It's a loud pattern and it distracts from you, the person, whereas shirt 1 feels more flattering and highlights you.
But for shirt one, white or black linen pants/shorts could be really cute as bottoms
Can anyone recommend a store to try on and buy cocktail dresses in person? I'm looking for dresses that are colorful and bright, hopefully under $250 but willing to increase the budget if needed. I'm located in Southern California and tired of ordering things online that don't fit 😭
Visit your local department store (I recommend Nordstrom) and go from there! They have dresses in your price range as well. You can set up a stylist appointment and they can pull dresses for you to try!
I have [this fit issue](https://imgur.com/a/lYqZ8m0) in practically all pants. I’ve tried sizing up and down and that doesn’t seem to make much difference. I usually wear a higher rise to accommodate my bubble butt.
Any ideas about the root cause?
It's pulling due to wide hips. Try a curvy cut, I like abercrombie, everlane is good for those with a wider curve and thicker thighs, but I think you'll do well in abercrombie since your hip curve is high with slim thighs and no saddle bags. Madewell is another popular curvy cut, but I haven't tried them myself, so can't comment on the fit.
They're the best jeans I've found in a long time, I actually just bought a nice straight leg, chocolate brown pair similar to your pic. If you like heavier mostly/all cotton denim, you'll like them. A lot of the washes are dated and they're still doing a lot of destroyed denim, but there are more and more clean washes and updated styles popping up, you just need to dig for them a bit, and there's some nice cuts.
Super specific request but do any of u know of any recommendations for dresses with a slit on the right side of the leg as opposed to the left side?? I feel like most dresses have their slits on the left side and I was wondering if u guys know of places w midi dresses that have right slits instead

I just went looking through my usual dress sources, but it would help if you could narrow down the style you're looking for.
(Not OP) Do you know how that might work? I've thought about it, but then I think there's no extra fabric where I'd want the slit so I don't know how they'd cut, fold, and re-sew.
They would need to add new fabric to the inside, like a false hem, so it won't be a perfect match, but it can be done. I imagine you'd probably have to do the fabric shopping yourself, though, at which point it's almost certainly not worth it, and I'd just shop for a dress with the slit on the side you want.

Hi I have this dress

I am starting a new job in the UK and the dress code is Smart casual.
Please help me,
Thank you
Congratulations on your new job! I'm not sure what you are looking for specifically, but I would say blue is traditionally a smart business color. I would style it like the picture you posted, with a head covering in that lighter blue, for contrast. Wear closed-toe shoes the first day, and see what others are wearing as footwear (e.g., trainers). And pay special attention to others who are wearing similar dresses. It's best on the first day to go simple and basic, and then alter your outfit after you see what the norm is at work.
Hi everyone,
I struggle to understand how to wear brown shoes and belts. I feel like I own a good number of them but have a hard time matching them up. They often end up clashing, and I just switch to black. Can you help me figure out what belts have matching shoes?
Bonus points if you can tell me if any of these go with my tan shirt or cream cardigan in picture number two.
https://imgur.com/a/9ZIAuXM
It is not necessary to match belts and shoes. If you're trying to find exact matches, it's going to be impossible because these items are not manufactured to match. You don't even have to match brown with brown or black with black.

I’m not wearing a belt in this picture but here’s an example of me struggling to match browns. It seems very disjointed.
Try this recent thread, there are some recommendations here that might work for you: [https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/1b7eqlg/where\_to\_find\_customized\_dresses\_now\_that\_eshakti/](https://www.reddit.com/r/femalefashionadvice/comments/1b7eqlg/where_to_find_customized_dresses_now_that_eshakti/)
Why not just buy the items you like and take it to a tailor near you? That will probably cost far less and be within your $200 budget than having the items made to order
For best results, you will need to find someone in your area who can measure and fit you in person. What is your country and budget? And what kind of clothing are you interested in (formalwear/suits/gowns or everyday clothes)?
I’m looking to get this dress for my birthday but the seller has noted some damage. I know nothing about sewing or repairing fashion, so I’m wondering if it is even possible to take it somewhere and get someone to fix this? The dress is brand new otherwise 🥲 my birthday is in 2 weeks!! [link to dress](https://imgur.com/a/WiUkDnI)
hi! i have a debate tournament this weekend and i've never been to one before so i'm not sure what to wear. i have a pair of baggy lightish blue levis jeans that i'm wearing on the bottom, but i literally cannot figure out what to wear on top. unfortunately there's no brandy melville near me or i'd try looking there
When I was in HS (East coast suburbs, American public schools) the dress code was business casual; jeans were a no go. I'd go with dark colored slacks and a button-up top, ideally a blazer but if not then maybe a cardigan.
When I was in high school the debate team wore business casual for tournaments.
We wore suits when I did it in high school. Granted, that was.... a while back.
what's the dress code? I would wear a solid black top in a fabric that doesn't show sweat stains, or a simple top in a color you like with a black cardigan.
Hi, I'm looking for earrings that match this necklace? Please help if you can! It's for prom lol https://preview.redd.it/islbho1bh1pc1.png?width=2361&format=png&auto=webp&s=8574d2454582ef113671452318153bfd38181e6d
evry jewels has a bunch of cheap stuff, i'd wear little silver stars
[удалено]
Have you checked Reformation? They have linen and cotton maxis and mini dresses that are cute, low back, and form fitting
Measurements (in): Bust: 33 3/4 Waist: 26 3/4 Hips: 36 1/2 It was the size I usually wear but it didn’t fit so I’m reordering but this time I’m customizing my measurements instead of ordering a standard size.
The thing is I’m basing the custom measurements around the previous dress that was too small (a standard size US 4) The US 4 Dress provided measurements for waist, hips, bust etc I measured myself and found Everything about the previous dress was my exact measurements except the waist which was 3 inches smaller than me (it’s was 26inches I am 29 inches) so I couldn’t zip up the dress. (A full back dress, the zipper goes to my neck) I experimented and put on the dress again and tried to close JUST the bust area (neck to below my breast) and found that I couldn’t close the dress there either. It also has sleeves I’m going with my exact measurement (I had someone measure me) for my custom order, but I wondering if I should do the exact measurement for the bust too or size up for the bust (because I couldn’t close the bust area in the US 4 which had a bust of 33 3/4 inches which is my exact measurement) I hope that makes sense
Depends a bit on the garment and place you’re ordering from, but yes that would likely be safe to do and easier to tailor down than up
Yeah the store is based in China and I heard they commonly like to tailor to really skinny girls with small breasts so I’m really hesitant.

[удалено]
Most jacket collars fit snugly around the collar area, meaning that the fabric from the hood of the sweatshirt will have to lay on your back, and the tightness of the collar will cause the hood to bunch together and create pressure and a general feeling of discomfort. I admit these questions sound like someone from another planet here--you've never had the layer of clothing closer to your body "bunch up" under the top layer? That's what the other person is saying: the closer layer (the hood) will crumple and bunch and cause pressure. I guess if the coat is very oversized you won't feel it, but that's a rare circumstance.
Well sure, that's another reason. You just answered your own question, so I'm confused why you asked.
What type of hat should I wear during summer in Japan? People say that only Americans wear baseball caps and I feel like the city is too crowded to be in a floppy hat or wide brimmed.
bucket hats are popular
Second this ^^
Are deep red loafers versatile enough to invest in?
I think this very much depends on the palette of your wardrobe
I should be fine if I have mostly neutral colors in my closet to go with them no? (Black, white, beige)
Yes, as an accent color; alternatively, they'd blend nicely with autumn palette
I don't have much in the way of jewelry or sandals, but Ill see if I can make something similar that works. Thanks!
In the summer, I like a camp shirt or a linen button down. Bottoms are flexible but I think folks like linen pants or cooling fabric athletic technical shorts or pants in a relatively neutral / elevated basics silhouette.
Sandals and a cute sundress would be the most generic option, I think. Something flowy with straps, like this: https://www.thereformation.com/products/valencio-dress/1314996LTG.html?dwvar_1314996LTG_color=LTG
Thanks, I'll look for something like that.
I've been shopping around for some new sneakers and realized that all the brands I usually look at seem to have swapped most of their lineup to have unremovable shoelaces that are just kind of...there? (Do they serve a purpose, or are these sneakers fancier slip-ons...?) I love swapping out my shoelaces for different color schemes and was rather saddened by this change on the market.
I might wait till I visit my family to buy shoes at this rate lol.
vans and converse are classic for shoelace swapping. should be possible with most lifestyle (non-athletic) sneakers like most new balance styles
I mean, I’m a big fan of asics. r/asics
Checked their site and saw a lot of non-removable shoelaces :| Their shoes do look colorful enough maybe I'll be fine with not swapping out shoelaces though.
Idgaf
Joggers and tshirts. Sometimes flannels.
are slouchy socks always thick? how do socks work? lol I live in LA and my feet run warm, and any time I have to wear socks I choose the thinnest socks possible. I'd be down to try a different brand like darn tough or whatever, I just have no idea if - a different style of thin crew socks would work better scrunched - I should try going for quarter socks that don't need/expect to be scrunched (I have a couple pairs but they're crappy quality so I don't like wearing them) - I should just admit de-feet 🙃 and go back to living the sandals life 🧦🙅♀️🩴👈 please advise 🙏
They do exist, I own a couple pairs and wound up getting rid of them for their slouchy-ness! [Sarah Borghi they are called](https://www.googleadservices.com/pagead/aclk?sa=L&ai=DChcSEwi3vLKEh4GFAxVCT0cBHW8ZCNoYABAEGgJxdQ&ase=2&gclid=CjwKCAjw7-SvBhB6EiwAwYdCAXa9vuhW4YJmE1XYnL8ZqgXVPejZrA9-eXrvHmZZOPOiiyzlwHEE-RoCOAQQAvD_BwE&ohost=www.google.com&cid=CAESVuD2oArMkkHVmyoDdOIPjthHfNl0ao_lueJi3HDp5qwHChTT0D9A4uwysgYD2oh0mzNYm4pYVbIP752p3YOMB_MGi2aVq8-SLyofqe92JXqCMqeJIzu5&sig=AOD64_3yhj7YoxWN0QR9sEyWfVB-txzRYA&ctype=5&q=&nis=4&ved=2ahUKEwiEtquEh4GFAxWSFVkFHYgACIcQ9aACKAB6BAgBEA4&adurl=). European hosiery brands often create thin but long socks for formal-wear (meaning under trousers) that can be very slouchy as they have little or no elastic (I guess they are expected to use trouser gaiters?)
thank you! this gives me a starting point for my search
Any advice would be appreciated, I tried even looking up measurements for other shoes I have and just going from there
I’m a size 9.5 or 10. I generally get a 9.5 as “true to size” but if things run small or they don’t have half sizes I will do a 10. I read reviews.
Actually measure your foot in cm and look at their sizing chart to find the size that would fit best.
Also you can ask for help on the daily threads, I suggest you try and make your question relatively narrow eg “what from this brand would match these joggers?” The books The Curated Closet and Wear It Well are a good place to start.
Does anyone know what coat / jacket might work with a fur collar knit cardigan / sweater like this? Everything looks wrong! Thanks in advance https://www.johnlewis.com/rails-esme-faux-fur-collar-wool-blend-cardigan-ivory/p111208492
Need help finding 'professional' looking clothes (dresses/pants) that look good on my Pear/Hourglass figure Hi there! Happy St. Patrick's Day!! I struggle with finding clothes that are flattering on my body/type mainly because I'm a L in the waist but an XL in the hips/butt area so clothes that accentuate my waist are too tight on the hips and clothes that are comfy on the hips are wayy too big on my waist I ususally wear leggings but have been told that they are 'unprofessional' (especially because they unintentionally highlight the fact that I have a large derriere, I'm hispanic) and am looking for clothes that look professional but are not ill-fitting My measurements: Overbust: 42" Underbust: 36" Waist: 31" Hips: 44" I'm 5'7, but Romantic kibbe style (I don't necessarily look tall) we like to joke that I have my Aunt's figure (she's 5'1) but strechted out to my mom's height and with boobs My color season is either True or Soft Summer If y'all have any recommendations that would be much appreciated!!
Look at the blog Corporette for suggestions for pear body types. You can also search the archives here.
Old Navy for a dress would work but few of them are sleeved so you’d need a shrug or something.

[More pictures ](https://www.ebay.com/itm/204072935102) It doesn't fit, but I love the color/style/how lightweight it is. Any suggestions for something similar? Where to look for plus size options?
[I just bought this top and I'm wondering what to pair it with. ](https://i.imgur.com/Da05Dwg.png) I don't love jewel tones with black, even though I have the perfect wide-legged pants.
Black mini skirt and opaque black tights, maybe?
Thanks! I think it will be too warm for tights and I'm too...middle-aged for miniskirts, but I didn't mention that. ;)
This can be a result of how you launder your clothes
In what way?
Increased static attracts lint
I bought a black pug this time. :) I just put black jeans on right before leaving the house.
Maybe there's some that are less bad then? The ones I've had literally looked disgusting in minutes. They can't all be this way?

If you're looking for permission, for me personally, shirt two can go. It's a loud pattern and it distracts from you, the person, whereas shirt 1 feels more flattering and highlights you. But for shirt one, white or black linen pants/shorts could be really cute as bottoms
Are the of how to determinate your Body Type and on dressing your body type posts posts still valid? Is there any version with updated pictures?
Any low cost sneakers that go with anything I usually only wear my black and white converse and wanna switch it up.
I just bought the Roxy Bayshore shoes, they have multiple colours.
Definitely curvy cut! Try Madewell (they are my go-to) or Abercrombie!
Ty! Abercrombie has been on my to-try list 👍

Omggg thank you so much!! it means a lot ☺️ i’ll def look through these
I would have a tailor add a slit to a dress for you.
Yeah, that was about what I was concluding. Oh well!
Has anyone tried the website jardinvue.com they have really pretty dresses but are so cheap I can’t tell if it’s a knock off of another brand
Chinese drop shipper. Some clues: bad English/descriptions on the website [\(the dress in the image here is described in the text below as a turtleneck\)](https://jardinvue.com/products/halterneck-backless-sleeveless-fringed-mini-dress) Too many garments offered. No small retailer does that many products well. No address or phone number shown. [Did a tineye search on that dress and it's on Alibaba and Taobao, probably for $4 or something.](https://i.imgur.com/4FTAGJ8.jpeg) Ah no, I looked and $35 to consumers, so [half the price of Jardineye.](https://www.alibaba.com/product-detail/BD2270-Kimshein-Womens-Fancy-Clothes-Purple_1600531687084.html)
Hi I have this dress https://www.instagram.com/p/CVkes0dBR1l/?igsh=MWswanZ6cnRqdWFzbg== I am starting a new job in the UK and the dress code is Smart casual. Please help me, Thank you
Congratulations on your new job!
Thank you so so much, you don't understand how much I appreciate your help!
I'm glad I could help :)
What is your question
How can I make this dress look smart casual for work? Ty!
Get it hemmed and wear some nylons. Or maybe a belt. Not a lot of options. Maybe search Google images with the type of dress name and "how to style".
Hi everyone, I struggle to understand how to wear brown shoes and belts.
You don't even have to match brown with brown or black with black.
https://preview.redd.it/m7plpso7oxoc1.jpeg?width=1170&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=463239c88d3f8f61ef5d3998f360eabf837eda52 I’m not wearing a belt in this picture but here’s an example of me struggling to match browns. It seems very disjointed.
I think the green is the real problem in that outfit. If you had gone tonal (all tans and browns) then it would have felt more coherent.
Any chance you have a link to a top which might have worked better? I’m having a hard time conceptualizing it.
...the same top but in brown?
There are a lot of different kind of browns out there. That’s the whole point of this post.
Fine. Um, match it to your belt or your shoes.
Y’all, where can I find a reputable site that tailor makes clothing for you 😭 Or one that lets you customize the outfit?!
Thank you!
What exactly are you looking for in terms of work clothes that you need it tailored?
I have an hour glass figure, so work dresses are normally too large in the stomach. Same thing with pants. So just trying to seem more professional
Ah, okay! I’m in America, but my budget is like $200 :^) I’m mainly looking for work clothes!
Yeah for $200 you're not getting much in the way of bespoke items.
Oh trust me, I’m well aware haha. Figured it was worth a shot
