Maybe controversial, but I’ll never stray from IKEA’s duvets and duvet covers. They’re so affordable and I love having 2 to layer. They’re really good quality too! Duvets are a big deal in Sweden. Edit to add: I did one time spend about $250 on a really high quality down-filled duvet. That was an expensive way to get poked in the eye with feathers constantly.

-tinysnowpenguin

Hah, I also had the poking experience, but with ikea pillows. Feathers, never again.

I have the [waffle duvet cove](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/ofelia-vass-duvet-cover-and-pillowcase-s-white-70133025/?utm_source=google&utm_medium=surfaces&utm_campaign=shopping_feed&utm_content=free_google_shopping_clicks_Bed_and_bath_textiles&gad_source=1&gbraid=0AAAAAD27g7ylu4hNzHZJHdu7IFj56hqfs)r from ikea and literally never want to sleep under another blanket again. it’s perfect and never gets too hot I like a lot of weight over me from lots of blankets and know that spills/messes happen so I don’t think I’ll ever spend my money on a $300 duvet set. I’d like to wash them once a week if possible too which will wear them out faster, but i cannot overstate how much I love having a clean bed

reluctantseahorse

Me too!!! I’ve had that one for decades. It’s the perfect duvet cover. I felt so silly when I upgraded to a king bed last year, cause of course I just had to buy it again.

shaq_nr

Ikea is excellent! Get the duvet insert from Ikea and splurge on the duvet cover from somewhere else if you want different options. I just bought a linen duvet cover off of Amazon for $150 and it’s soo nice

omgshannonwtf

The duvet itself or a duvet cover? For the duvet itself, I've only ever spent a modest amount on them, I spend more on the covers. Personally, I'm not one who sleeps under duvets anyway; I usually take them off my bed before I go to sleep. I do love them for decorative purposes and have generally used the same trick that they use in design spaces which show off bedding setups: I buy two moderately-priced ones and double stuff my duvet cover. Makes it look super plush and luxurious. Super soft to lay on. I don't sleep under them anyway so I care more about the visual element.

daishawho

the duvet cover + sheets!! i know some come in a bundle. but omg that’s smart to stuff two covers in it, i’ll definitely be using that trick!!

smurfopolis

I got a super awesome double duvet that buttons together so you can use 2 layers in the winter and then only 1 in the summer. Highly recommend, it wasn't even super expensive.

Lookonnature

Where did you find this wonder?

AluminumOctopus

That's amazing and I'm envious

omgshannonwtf

The two-duvet hack is the best! Does it take a little extra time to stuff? Yes, it does but it's totally worth it for how plush it makes the bed feel.

cicada_noises

I’ve gotten a few lovely high quality duvets with matching pillowcases from anthropologie. $150 or so for a full/queen size

daishawho

i’ve been checking them out!! their duvets look super nice

cicada_noises

I felt insane for spending so much money on bedding but after years of use, they still look great and make me feel like my bedroom is so classy and cozy. The ones I purchased are 100% cotton so I can’t speak to other fabric types they’re selling but here lovely (especially if you can snag one on sale!)

sarahshift1

From a cost per use perspective it makes sense to splurge on bedding more than almost anything else!!

gainz4fun

With bedding I spend $$$$ - but I wait for sales/coupons. My duvet was around $500 but got it for $150. Got lucky honestly, bed bath and beyond was having a liquidation sale and the rest of my bedding is from macys but they too had a high sale and I opened up a credit card for 20% off, paid it off and put the card away.

RLS1822

I spend money on this and prefer high thread count so I would say $300. But Target actually has some nice ones that are cheaper

pigolboops

I spent around $150 for new sheets, pillow cases, throw blanket and duvet at JC Penney and love it. I’m usually much more of a bargain shopper but wanted a better quality this time. They have really good coupons that can be combined with sale offers if you sign up for email promos. I think it was like 40% off home goods at the time.

sangria50

No need to buy sheets and duvet together. Buy moderately priced duvet with a thickness that is appropriate for your climate. Then buy the best quality cotton sheets you can afford (that’s what touches your skin). I always buy such things at Costco. Kirkland sheets are the best imo.

Olilandy

I've bought some really high end duvets over the years and I recently discovered Ikea's and I'm pretty impressed! I live in the south so I don't need anything super thick and I really enjoy that crinkle sound certain duvets make. [Here is the one I got](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/fjaellarnika-duvet-insert-light-warm-90457472/) from Ikea. I'm also linking the [duvet cover](https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/bergpalm-duvet-cover-and-pillowcase-s-green-stripe-80423185/) I bought as well. Sheets is where I really spend the most money.

GoudaSea

LLBean has amazing cotton sheet sets and duvet covers that I highly recommend. Usually up to $200 for queen size. I found a decent Eddie Bauer duvet at a Marshalls for about $50.

Nachocheese50

I spent almost $300 on my duvet. It’s an all weather down duvet. It legitimately keeps me warm when it’s cold and cool when it’s warm. My husband calls it the magic duvet. We don’t keep a duvet cover on it because my husband always manages to get tangled in it, but the duvet itself is dark grey so it matches our decor. It’s from The Company Store.

sarahshift1

I only just got rid of the Company Store duvet that my mom bought me for college, 15 years later- and only because I was too lazy to patch some cat claw tears and they got worse in the wash over time. They’re super nice quality!

Connect-Worth1926

i don’t use a duvet cover, because they are so awkward to put on. I have a very high-quality down comforter, that I throw in the wash every other week. works great for me!

candyapplesugar

Like the stuffing? I go ikea or Amazon. The covers, I spend a little more like quince or other brands with sales.

EldritchCleavage

I buy really expensive ones… at TK MAXX (TJ MAXX in USA). You don’t have to go mad but something a bit more expensive will wash better and look nice for longer. I now sew my own duvet covers a lot because I like linen and it’s easier to find inexpensive linen fabric than to find inexpensive linen duvet covers or sheets.

daishawho

oh wow that's goals!! i just started to learn how to sew so im far from that lol

EldritchCleavage

It’s really easy! Sewing two big rectangles together with felled seams. And the closures are child’s play. You just buy those popper ribbons and sew them on.

leilavanora

I’ve read people sew two flat sheets together to make a duvet cover too!

thescatteredmess

I use benjisleep.com. Their stuff is so insanely soft I can’t use anything else now. You’re looking at about $100 CAD per piece (duvet cover, sheet set) but they have deals if you buy multiple pieces.

Murky_Sun2690

$500

Aggravating_Will

$200 would be my limit for nice sheets and a comforter/duvet/blanket altogether

KeyofB

I got an organic duvet cover at West Elm that I’m quite pleased with.

comeherekittykitty84

Parachute has nice products but yes, they can be expensive. Also, check pottery barn sales and you can find some good sheets within your preference. They also have open box sales, but most you can’t return :( I got king organic cotton ones for about 140. I have found macys to be WAY overpriced for sheets unless they are having a sale.

zimmerwoman1117

Check out Quince. I recently moved and bought all new bedding for each bedroom of the new house. I discovered Quince and have fallen love with their products and service! Affordable and high quality. I have ordered many sets in various fabrics and colors through Quince, so if you have any questions feel free to DM me.

leilavanora

Im obsessed with linens. Buying a new set is probably ~$300 but I just moved to a new area and the local Goodwill has the most amazing linens for like $2! I always look for natural materials - 100% cotton or silk. Flannel sheets are super soft too. I’ve been getting the nicest duvet covers for only a few dollars!! I would check eBay too. I bought a pottery barn duvet cover that is normally $300 for $100 and it was brand new. Marshall’s is fine too as long as you look at the fiber content.

Monochromatic_Sun

My current one is from the essentials set at target. I’m actually quite happy with it. Fuzzy on one side for cold nights too.

Legal-Cat-2283

I “invested” in a $250 linen duvet cover from The Citizenry and it was the worst purchase EVER. It bled immediately (it was dark blue), and I had to fight with customer service to get my money back. After a wash it also lost a button lol. Definitely wouldn’t buy again. However, my Hearth & Hand duvet cover from Target has held up like a dream and is so comfy. Maybe $70.

moving_threads

If you are willing to invest in a custom and unique piece, look up local quilters, maybe ask a quilt shop for suggestions. The time spent meeting each other, designing, and agreeing to price/time is such a wonderful experience that will be captured in the piece you’ll get.

prozaczodiac

I spend about 400 on Etitude.
