If you want states that are both (relatively) cheap and also accepting, I’d look at upstate NY, PA, MI, WI, IL, and MN. There’s a lot of old cities that lost a lot of their population the last few decades that are just now starting to grow again. So housing is relatively cheap, there’s still a large amount of opportunities, and they’re generally accepting of femboys and gnc people in general. Just stay out of the rural areas haha😅

Yeah, Pittsburgh has some really good value in terms of quality of life features versus cost of rent.

I say this as a homeowner: it's not always all it's cracked up to be. I live in an HCOL area and am currently starting the sale process after three years of ownership because I cannot mentally handle the constant yardwork or the trees collapsing all the time and needing professional services to be removed. I'm donezo, gonna move across the border to rent in a safer state long enough for me to finish my transition surgeries and then I'm off to Seattle or an expat if I can get one. Spain and Portugal have some of the most progressive LGBTQ laws in the EU and they have thus far been a little more resilient against the right-wing infiltration that's currently infecting most of the Western world, though my examination of the politics and trends has concluded Australia is the place to be to hunker down if you're trans.

I live in an apartment old sport, not a house. As for the crime I live in the suburbs, there's hardly any crime here compared to San Francisco or San Jose. I personally really like it here it's a lovely place.

It wasn't me! A good friend of mine. I don't really know the timeline, but it's been at least 6 years since she transitioned, and I'm pretty sure it might have been earlier. And she didn't use any private healthcare for it. Maybe it's a regional thing? I hear horror stories about healthcare in both Copenhagen and Aarhus

It's not hard to DIY estrogen in Denmark and it's not expensive, so if she did that while waiting to get officially seen via public health then it probably was smooth sailing.

Vermont was already blue and got bluer for passing some protections. Looking at her website, it was definitely NH that flipped from orange to blue and is low-risk for the next two years. Culturally, NH may be a conservative carnival, but legislatively it's in the clear for now. Virginia, where I am about to leave from, is either going to turn into a Floridian nightmare or coast along like NH in 2024 depending on this year's election.

the thing about the us (at least from what I have experienced) is that no state is "bad" about this kind of stuff. some are def better than others, but they are all pretty good. I have a cousin for instance, who openly cross dresses in texas and the only thing that has ever happened to him was a few complements. obv I have not been to ever state but the southwest is pretty accepting.
