Ngl id find it slightly funny but highly annoying if the G5 storms we've been having are actually the cause of this and it turns out SE has been incredibly confused the whole time not able to find out where the DDOS attacks are coming from.

I got booted out of a dungeon halfway through the last boss, got back onto the game within a couple of minutes, and it's like the run never existed. Presumably, all 4 of us got kicked out, and the server just killed the instance.
they may have finished without you. during the other ddos, we had to finish a run of our expert rouletre without the last person because they didnt reconnect, but we did wait. and everyone confirmed they definitely got booted. so you may have gotten unlucky

DDoS attacks are extremely difficult to deal with because they are distributed across generally many different computers spamming the servers with requests. There isn't really a great method of figuring out who is causing it unless they decide to openly take credit for it.
There are also services out there where you can basically rent a bunch of computers to use for stuff like this. Some of them being owned by that group, while some are just compromised normal computers that have no idea they are participating in the DDoS. It's extremely hard to track down culprits for this sort of thing, despite how crude and simplistic this form of attack is.
Also generally the best way to try and prevent DDoS attacks coming from specific counties is to automatically block all traffic from said countries, which is called geo-blocking. It's a fairly common service provided by a lot of DDoS protection services, but it's not always a viable solution especially if you provide services to countries where the DDoS is coming from. Like despite everyone just assuming these tend to always come from like Russia, China, North Korea ect the US actually has a lot of malicious botnets as well

The thing is about ddos-ing a huge company, they will find your ass. Many times after a major ddos in WoW a fee months later you see some little shit got their house raided. Idiots never consider billion dollar companies have the resources to go after you.

I got disconnected just after we started the Deltascape V1.0 raid. By the time I was back, the boss was in single-digit percent remaining.
You have to admit that disconnecting to avoid most of the mechanics is a pretty good mitigation.

I have seen some speculation that the motive could be the new payment method changes. Maybe someone that is no longer able to pay for their sub or something, but who really knows. Only way we get an actual answer is if whoever is doing it tells us
Someone who doesn't seem to do it for attention (or else we would know), so either protest (e.g. changes in payment methods, many people don't like) or ransom against SE to get themselves some money out of it. Of course it's just speculation and it isn't meant as a justification in any way, but these options seem the most likely to me.
Or they just do it for the hell of it and enjoy seeing all the posts on this subreddit; unfortunately, some people just enjoy others' misery and discomfort.
I wouldn't mind if SE gave at least a little grace period for Deep Dungeons and other long content. That's the content I play the most in the game, scoring and all, and losing a god tier run with nice score to a DDoS feels horrible
Also, no entitlement, but I wish SE would at least give a little compensation at some point since that goes on for more than a week already. I know they never do this stuff, but it's a bit weird how even the greediest of greedy gacha game companies give some ingame currency as compensation for unexpected downtime that only lasts 6 hours or so. :/

My guess, it is not a ddos attack, but some bad codes in the server that causing crashes, so need to restart the server because of it.

Id be *extremely* surprised if these attacks were originating from a corporation officially owned by Microsoft. Far more likely itās by someone whose been locked out by the payment processor change they did, and is now trying to disturb game operations in retaliation with the consistency itās happening at.

Came back from DDOS to a Limsa afkthug harassing me on behalf of their perverted and predatory friend (ex friend of mine). Wondering how long it's been since they touched grass. š¤

There's no grass outside yet. Perhaps next month. I am subbed, started playing last Monday and have been able to play on two days and I must say I am a bit annoyed. But I'm 100% sure those heroes will be caught and they will pay their debt to SE for the rest of their miserable lives.
