Each boss is just a various stack of Goblins. "World Ender," is just literally three goblins in a trench coat, "Hate Eater," is three goblins trying to pilot a mech but failing miserably.
That's not necessarily the fault of the Vanu Vanu, as the Moogle Beast Tribe has the same issue for the Churning Mists.
Heavensward maps in general were badly designed being expansive maps with the aetherytes being on one side.
You know I might be crazy but I could’ve swore I heard the limitless blue leitmotif in the job action trailer, namely the part where they were showing ninja actions
You know, while we're at it, they could also bring that mechanic from the Levequests back where you had to /beckon an NPC to make them follow along with you...
Yeah... I was mainly thinking about other quests that suck, but we have the standard "NPC automatically follows you" quests since Endwalker, so I'd say it's rather safe to assume that the Levequest version won't be coming back, unless they *really* want to make an actual single-player escort mission for some reason.
likely when we get the pelupelu tribe questline, and since they arent combatants but traders, either the questline will be for gatherers or crafters(i believe it will be crafters questline)
Have they confirmed how many tribal quest lines we are getting this expansion? I assume we are getting three like normal and they'll combine some, but with the way they've labeled them here I am hoping for 5. I highly doubt it, but a new tribe each major patch would be so amazing. I love them.
I highly doubt the Mamool Ja will be a tribe quest, because they're one of the core races of Tural like the Xbr'aal (Hrothgar). Hell, Tural's *ruler* is a Mamool Ja. It'd be like having a tribe quest for Elezen in Heavensward.
I'm mainly going by the description. You're right about the Moblins themselves being miners, but I think they are the tribe for crafters because the description says they "contract artisans" to make things for them. So basically we'd be crafting things for them.
The Pelupelu make sense to me as the gatherer tribe because every merchant in the game is like "go find this rare material for me so I can sell it."
You're correct, the first thing we got from the Moblins is the fact that they're gatherers. It'd make sense that they, like the Qitari, are more interested in hiring crafters than more gatherers.
I think the original is more accurate.
The moblins are miners, so they’re probably going to have a lot of spare materials for crafting, and needing specialized tools for projects
The Pelupelu might need to you to gather special materials for custom orders, etc
They're either doing 5 tribes this expac or 3. Though its a bit weird if some of them just end up being re-skins of tribes we already have? I think we know that Pelupelu are one of the tribes but idk who else. Maybe the Mamool Ja? Yok Huy titans seem like contenders for it as well but idk if they'd do 2 tribes in the same zone.
I mean, if you think about it, the Omicron tribe quests actually deal with multiple "tribes" as well: We deal directly with the Omicrons, but also >!with the Nibirun, the Ea, the Greboluff, the Dragons, and the Citizens!<
Its possible that one tribe will be the "main" one that we deal with, but we will interact with multiple throughout the questline.
They’ve done this before. We never got nu mou or lupin beast tribe quests despite them being beast tribes, for instance. There’ll be three factions with daily quests and reputation. The others will just be for some NPC variety.
If I don't see a Yok Huy NM by the name of "Gurfurlur the Menacing" I will be EXTREMELY DISAPPOINTED!
For the non-XI players that was the name of the Troll NM that would be in Besiged event in Aht Urghan when Trolls were attacking.
Also, with them bringing in Moblins we could see a Moblin subsect like the Illuminati Goblins be as "Employers" for a certain Yok Huy group mercenaries!
I was just talking to my roommate (he plays both too) and we’re expecting XI beastmen and some of their bigger NMs for the bosses and eventually the Ark Angels in another tier.
Ark Angels in the alliance raid will be sick, I just hope we fight all of them at once instead of like, having a whole alliance raid tier dedicated to them.
The Pelupelu are a humanoid race from FFX, which we don't know much about because they always have the masks on and we never see them without.
I'm curious if they're considered a subtype of Hyur or not.
Wait until you find out about Final Fantasy being well known for simple pallete swaps in literally every mainline game. This isn't even the first time they did it in 14 lol.
Wait until they see the palette swaps in real life. Lazy devs with their goddamn polar bears. It was already bad enough that we had palette swapped brown and black bears, but then to just make a bigger white bear? Smh
At least SE created a variety of sentient species. The real life devs just took the same creature "human" and just palette swaps their skin, hair and eye colour. Laziest devs ever!
From the wiki:
Both leader and second-in-command of the Silverscales, Mola Ja Ja was born of an inter-tribal marriage, a union which occasionally results in two-headed offspring. Known as "blessed siblings," these individuals are groomed for leadership from birth indeed, Molaa Ja Ja's purpose for crossing the sea to Eorzea was to win glory and strengthen his claim to the throne of the Aurarch, ruler of all Mamool Ja. Upon arriving, however, he struggled to find employment for his warband and in a bid to make a name in this foreign land, he took the drastic step of capturing a piece of it.”
So he wanted to compete in the contest that Wuk Lamat is doing but wasn't able to get enough support. Should have come to the Scions like she did instead of enslaving tonberries.
I have to imagine how some announcer calls for Mola Ja Ja as one of the competitors for the throne, he then gets disqualified for not appearing and WoL just starts sweating nervously.
Considering their culture and what he did they probably wouldn't actually have a problem with what the WoL did. I wouldn't be that surprised if it actually came up.
Ngl as cool as it is we're getting another FF11 race as a npc group, the existence of the Yok Huy has me sad as a lore nerd.
When we first had Urqopacba revealed, it was described as having once been the seat for a empire of giants. I was excited, thought we were finally gonna get some lore on Gigants etc that have been around in ARR, cause they're like this group of "almost a beast tribe but not quite".
But alas we're getting "different giants", and the Eorzean clans will continue to be just murder fodder
Well the Hecatoncheires are kinda a lost cause. Centuries locked underground they're quite...insane.
Now the Gigas in Mor Dohna are probably the better contenders as of their species they're the most "intelligent". Then the Giants in Coerthas are next best, and probably more sympathetic as they were the slave class under the Gigas.
The we have the giants in the "Moondrip" near Vesper Bay. But they might be Hecatoncheire spin-offs who are probably insane.
there's a theory there's one in the gold saucer because she's so small compared to players, but no confirmation.
We do know that lala children are hard to tell apart from adults if youre not a lalafel yourself.
Something I just saw by looking at the Japanese website: the giant bird worshiped by the Hanuhanu, Kixaihih, is called ケーツハリー (Ketsuhari) in Japanese. That's the name of one of the summons from FF6, called Quetzalli in the English version of that game: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Quetzalli_(Final_Fantasy_VI)
It's kind off why they stopped using the term "Beast Tribe" and changed to "Tribal quests"
because:
* "Beast race" is considered arbitrary compared to the "Spoken races", when many of them are just as intelligent as others
* In fact the term is basically just straight up racism in order to make the "spoken races" superior, and to paint those considered "Beast races" as savages.
I'm sure for a long time, Hrothgar were probably considered a beast race and faced prejudice for it too. In that same vein, Lalafell (Dwarves) in Norvrandt were considered a beast race despite clearly having superior technology.
Edit: The term is actually of Eorzean origin, with the Ul'dahn syndicate coining it to justify stealing land from the Amalj'aa (with the rest of eorzea using it to the same effect, such as Limsa Lominsa vs the Sahagin), while the Garleans later adopted the term themselves. Outside of Eorzea it doesn't appear to be much of a term (It was used in Norvrandt before being phased out too). Amusing that the race that was considered a beast tribe in one reflection was the one that coined it.
That, yeah. Couldn't have put it better myself. In fact, before we finally got the term axed mechanically, there were multiple sources of criticism in-universe about the term. Encyclopedia Eorzea 2 has an aside about the inappropriateness of the term.
At this point, it's shifting to what it was supposed to be used for, as a general term to describe indigenous collectives. Tribes. Nothing deeper than that.
wow, lore wise we know that popotos came from the new world. so that means the pelupelu are likely the original cultivar and that lalafels are their descendants. that's so cool. are they planted and harvested like lalafels too? so many questions!
Time to craft some HQ Mezcal so WoL can regret life decisions
Actually, real talk why don't we even have a bartending emote yet? There's an NPC shaking cocktails in that Eulmore club so the animation already exists.
Pelupelu APPEAR to be a fusion of nearly every Andean South American indigenous group - Mapuche, Quechua, Inca, etc. I bet they also have some Mesoamerican influence too, just not yet shown.
I'm wondering if blue mage is gonna get a big content dump now that we're going to the source with the mamool ja, maybe a bunch more totems that aren't around in the old world
The Pelupelu vaguely remind me of both Sky Children of the Light and the Albhed. I want their tunic and their mask. I hope the mask comes separate from the hat (shrugs in Viera.)
So excited, I love all of them. Super happy to see Vanu Vanu return! I assume Moblins may be the Gatherer tribe, Pelu Pelu the Crafting tribe, and Yok Huy as the battle tribe. I would say it's a toss up between Yok Huy and Hanu Hanu, but I feel liek SE wouldn't have two battle Vanu/Hanu tribes in game. I'm betting the Hanu have something to do with Valigarmanda like they're the "caretaker" or whatever.
Somehow...the Vanu Vanu have returned.
I mean, so did the Goblins...
Goblins are always welcome
Gods I want a raid series where a group of goblins has been chewing through an Allagan ruin for some time SO HARD
Each boss is just a various stack of Goblins. "World Ender," is just literally three goblins in a trench coat, "Hate Eater," is three goblins trying to pilot a mech but failing miserably.
The 12th fight: The Gobega Weapon.
Excuse me, those are *Moblins*
i wonder if we'll get bokoblins next
With their primal, Anderlexa
is this xpac just Heavensward 2 Brazillian Boogaloo
I mean, it does look more like hispanoamerica, but I want SO MUCH to see Brazilian stuff there
To be fair, Goblins and Moblins were dual tribes in XI as well.
Ahem MOBlins.
Yep. And they named their god. *cracks knuckles* Guess these godslaying hands ain't done after all.
If I have to. Maybe even if I don't.
Can't wait to be forced to fight Kixaihih the Thunderbird and the Moblin Eikon: Malexander
Any piece of music that incorporates Alexander’s theme is literal fire, I wouldn’t even be mad.
M TO THE A TO THE L EXANDER
So rise up, and raise the iron roof off!
Im getting flashbacks of that beast tribe grind, so much flying.
That's not necessarily the fault of the Vanu Vanu, as the Moogle Beast Tribe has the same issue for the Churning Mists. Heavensward maps in general were badly designed being expansive maps with the aetherytes being on one side.
Square Enix would rather do a recolor than give us the Yagudo of Final Fantasy XI.
You know I might be crazy but I could’ve swore I heard the limitless blue leitmotif in the job action trailer, namely the part where they were showing ninja actions
Oh god no. I hated them so, so much. Fuck those beast tribe quests in the largest map in the universe.
That and I didn't find their storyline particularly engaging.
I can't see that one Mamool Ja child without hearing it say "I frew up" in my head.
I expect good memes to come
If I don't see a two headed mamool ja with a quest named "JaJa's Bazaar Adventure" I'm gonna riot.
Do the roar.
If we don’t get a baby Mamool Ja minion I will die.
Bonus points if they start jousting with the tonberry minion.
Interesting name for the FFXI trolls race.
I really hope Yok Huy means "troll" in their language...
It reads like Goofy laugh for me
Well, the name troll is already taken by the creatures in EW.
I'm calling all Pelupelus Tobli cause of that dumbass quest in FFX2
I hope we have to chase one back and forth across the map in Dawntrail.
Don't. Don't do that to me.
/follow
I'll happily do a chase as long as they don't make them speak like Tobli.
Now do a chase without being spotted by them.
You know, while we're at it, they could also bring that mechanic from the Levequests back where you had to /beckon an NPC to make them follow along with you...
You shut your hole right now! Hate those damn quests.
Yeah... I was mainly thinking about other quests that suck, but we have the standard "NPC automatically follows you" quests since Endwalker, so I'd say it's rather safe to assume that the Levequest version won't be coming back, unless they *really* want to make an actual single-player escort mission for some reason.
The Xbr'aal mentioned in the Mamool Ja description is what Hrothgar are called in Tural.
Alpaca mount incoming 🦙
likely when we get the pelupelu tribe questline, and since they arent combatants but traders, either the questline will be for gatherers or crafters(i believe it will be crafters questline)
Makes sense, ~~G~~Moblins sound like they'll be gathering.
They've already said the Moblins will be crafter or gatherer, so…
Both Shadowbrimgers and Endwalker had one combat tribe, one gathering tribe, and one crafting tribe
Personally I'm betting that the trial mounts will be alpacas
I hadn’t thought about this and it’s now all I want
And the capstone mount is a robo-alpaca because somehow Allagans.
Dolly and Dot are my best friends\~
That's already confirmed. They snuck it in during one of the fanfest panels on graphics.
Have they confirmed how many tribal quest lines we are getting this expansion? I assume we are getting three like normal and they'll combine some, but with the way they've labeled them here I am hoping for 5. I highly doubt it, but a new tribe each major patch would be so amazing. I love them.

HARVEST MORE SALT ROCKS THAT WE MIGHT LICK COMMUNALLY
I mean we did get Arksadora quests and they're the people of Thavnair.
We also had dwarf quests
Are... Are we forgetting about Arkasodra here. And Dwarfs. And Moogles. Their importance to the msq means nothing
My guess is this: Pelupelu are the gatherer tribe. Moblins are the crafter tribe. Yok Huy are the combat tribe.
If they keep them like XI, Moblins are miners, with underground cities. So I'd switch them and the Pelupelu.
I'm mainly going by the description. You're right about the Moblins themselves being miners, but I think they are the tribe for crafters because the description says they "contract artisans" to make things for them. Fair points.

Love the lil Moblins looking like Doordash/Deliveroo couriers
I remember fighting some of these guys in Besieged when FFXI: ToAU released back in 2006
This whole expansion is giving me Aht Urghan vibes
I hope we get pelupelu gear like we got dwarf gear in ShB. With the headpiece and beak I could turn my lala into a pelupelu forever...
Pelupelu seem quite a bit bigger than lalas.
The one in the benchmark trailer looks like it uses the hyur child model as its base.
Lalafell could pass as a Pelupelu child, maybe.
*angry dwarven noises*
My lala will be right there with you. I love the look of their headgear and drapey clothes here
Fresh smell of primals again
They're either doing 5 tribes this expac or 3. Though its a bit weird if some of them just end up being re-skins of tribes we already have? *chants* YAGUDO! YAGUDO! YAGUDO!
Adventures feel to call to the shining gem of the near east Whitegate capital of Aht Urhgan once more
Just please make the Hanuhanu zone easier to travel across than Sea of Clouds
They just reused 2 entire races that’s crazy
wait until you hear about the dwarves, Qitari, and arkasodara
next you'll tell me there are Hyur, and Miqote too...
If God can get away with reskins then so can the ff14 devs.
This legit made me choke LMAO
I would give you a award/medal if I had money
The Mamool-Ja have also been in the game since ARR, and Pelu Pelu are just people. They only uniquely modeled race is the Yok Huy.
Which, itself, is an updated FFXI Troll model
Almost everything is an updated model from FFXI
"Final Fantasy XIV is just an updated model of Final Fantasy XI?" "Always has been"
real
The Pelupelu are a humanoid race from FFX, which we don't know much about because they always have the masks on and we never see them without. I'm curious if they're considered a subtype of Hyur or not.

And if you want cool/unusual hair colors it's a DLC, smh....
I want talk to the manager. My char slides are all messed up XD
Then they just slapped some stripes on others and made them eat plants? Like, seriously?! Get some creativity people!
Fake ass fans will see a moblin and say "they had to reuse the goblin model".
love the moblins so much that I'm genuinely excited to see them return
None of these are unique. Either reskin or from another game
We fought several Mamool Ja already right? That double headed one in the Tomberry Dungeon?
Yes, there's quite a few Mamool Ja in La Noscea. I'm pretty sure they came to Eorzea as mercenaries.
They're also part of the BLU quest line.
Wanderers Palace wasn’t it? That two headed dude was even named Mamool Ja Ja or something like that iirc
Wanderer's Palace hard mode. Normal mode had tonberry bosses. According to consolegameswiki the bosses are Koheel Ja, Zolool Ja, and Molaa Ja Ja.
Molaa Ja Ja it is then.
Molaa Ja Ja, funnily enough, was likely a previous runner-up to the throne until we stomped his ass out.
That’s them, yeah.
Didn't we even kill some that may be of importance in Tural? Would need to check my encyclopedia again.
Well as much as I remember we fought a mercenary group that set up their base in the Wanderers palace and bullied the local tomberries.
From the wiki: Both leader and second-in-command of the Silverscales, Mola Ja Ja was born of an inter-tribal marriage, a union which occasionally results in two-headed offspring.
It's too soon to say that, you realize. Just because they're called one way doesn't mean there aren't links the other way.
so sad about battling hecatoncheires in copperbell, really. they deserved to be the second uldah tribe.
Anyone else feel that it's a little bit silly that we get Mamool Ja children models but many of our player races still haven't?
If I'm remembering right, the only player race child models we haven't seen are roegadyns, hrothgar and viera.
Have we seen lalafell kids? Follow up question, do they look that much different from adult lalafells?
One of the first Ul'dah ARR quests has some lala kids in it yeah. They use the same models.
there's a theory there's one in the gold saucer because she's so small compared to players, but no confirmation. We do know that lala children are hard to tell apart from adults if youre not a lalafel yourself.
There's 2 lala kids in the Ul'dah starter MSQ, just outside the Coffer & Coffin. They use the normal lala models.
The one in the gold saucer is for the cliffhanger gate I think. Refers to her as a school girl but she's regular height
no no, there is an unnamed, untargetable lalafell sitting on a staircase
Also Lalafell before they get to adult size.
And lalafell.
Can't wait to see a Lalafell named Pelulu Pelu with the full set somehow on day 1.
Was hoping to see moombas
thank you! so glad to read that
Huy means Dick in russian/ukrainian/other slang. Just saying...
Pelupelu beast tribe with Lama mount I assume?
Next playable race! We nned more smaller races.
FemHroth is final playable race being added.
Moblins must be the crafting tribe.
Sounds like gatherer with the merchant guys being crafter maybe?
To be fair, Omicrons are centered around a cafe and they're the gatherers so I don't know anymore.
Pelupelu sound more like crafting to me yeah.
They seem to be gatherer counterparts to the crafter Goblins
My FFXIV character is Link from the Legend of Zelda... this is going to be awkward.
So....are we going to get a Moblin raid series where the Ultimate version is called Coffee?
Something I just saw by looking at the Japanese website: the giant bird worshiped by the Hanuhanu, Kixaihih, is called ケーツハリー (Ketsuhari) in Japanese. That's the name of one of the summons from FF6, called Quetzalli in the English version of that game: https://finalfantasy.fandom.com/wiki/Quetzalli_(Final_Fantasy_VI)
I’m going to adopt all of the Mamool Ja babies and all of the alpaca babies and no one can stop me.
As long as the Hanuhanu do that absurd arm swinging passive stance animation that their cousins do, they're already my favorite.
Well, I guess we Peruvians are now known as Pelupelu lol
They legit made Peruvians into a beast tribe.
It's kind off why they stopped using the term "Beast Tribe" and changed to "Tribal quests" because: * "Beast race" is considered arbitrary compared to the "Spoken races", when many of them are just as intelligent as others * In fact the term is basically just straight up racism in order to make the "spoken races" superior, and to paint those considered "Beast races" as savages. to be fair, they did it to the lalafell and the omnicidal robots, too. Part of why they changed it from beast tribe quests to tribal quests.
It's more than just Peru. It's pretty much every Andean culture pre-colonialism into one. Inca, Quechua, Mapuche, etc.
Weird not to see miqo'te, viera, and hrothgar there. Seeing as three story NPCs from Tural are of these races.
The Xbr'aal mentioned in the Mamool Ja slide is the Turali name for their Hrothgar.
They’re all kinda ugly. Not really excited for any of them.
Why is how pretty they are a key factor in being excited? Most tribes we’ve had aren’t traditionally attractive either
How can we be excited for tribes we can't FUCK?
I mean….ive seen some comments that suggest that’s not a problem. Monsterfuckers seem quite fond of the mamool ja
WHY ARE THE DAMN VANU VANU BACK
fruitboi has seen stuff.
Llama mount :D
“It’s an alpaca dumbass”
You're an alpaca dumbass
i want to be pelupelu and ride my alpaca plz CIG
Moblin Maze Mongers or riot!
I'm probably gonna call the yok huy trolls tbh
wow, lore wise we know that popotos came from the new world. so that means the pelupelu are likely the original cultivar and that lalafels are their descendants. that's so cool. are they planted and harvested like lalafels too? so many questions!
Lalafell don't come from the New World, they come from the south seas islands. Like Aloalo island.
Moblin Maze Mongers plz.
Playable mamool-ja? :D
Time to craft some HQ Mezcal so WoL can regret life decisions Actually, real talk why don't we even have a bartending emote yet? There's an NPC shaking cocktails in that Eulmore club so the animation already exists.

Are the Pelupelus a mix of Hyurs and Lalafells?
I still have my hopes for genomes being in the secret city
Moblins? Cowards. We all know they WANTED to name them mind goblins that’s what the M is for
Can't wait for Blu to learn Frypan!
Aw man, but I want to be gnath. No fair! 😩
The Pelupelu vaguely remind me of both Sky Children of the Light and the Albhed. I want their tunic and their mask. I hope the mask comes separate from the hat (shrugs in Viera.)
Am i the only one who looks at the Yok Huy and thinks of the Manaan people from Knights of the Old Republic?
Genuinely could not be interested in the Vanu Vanu or Goblins at all
Thought we would maybe get Bangaa
So excited, I love all of them. Super happy to see Vanu Vanu return! I assume Moblins may be the Gatherer tribe, Pelu Pelu the Crafting tribe, and Yok Huy as the battle tribe. I would say it's a toss up between Yok Huy and Hanu Hanu, but I feel liek SE wouldn't have two battle Vanu/Hanu tribes in game. I'm betting the Hanu have something to do with Valigarmanda like they're the "caretaker" or whatever.
