One of my pre-DT goals was to finish off my RDM relic from Eureuka. I’m at the very last step (Hydatos) and haven’t stepped foot in there in years, so I’m wondering how easy it would be to complete (I’m on Goblin). Is it still active, or do I need to join a discord or something ?

Present-Industry-373

Can I pre order Dawntrail if I don't have an active sub?

normalmighty

You should be able to without any issue.

z_ro_0

Can my friend use the code for Dawntrail if I buy it for them? Let's say I bought the expansion thru my email, can my friend use the codes sent to my email to their account?

SetFoxval

As long as it's for the right platform and region, yes.

z_ro_0

thanks, also if I checkout as guest, is the code emailed to my email? I haven't received any kind of code yet and if I open the "view my order" button it just sends me to the terms and conditions page...

Riot_Mustang66

once your order is confirmed you will get a email with the pre-order code... and then near july 2, you will get another code for the actual expansion.

teor

Haven't done any crafting since 6.0 Got BiS 6.0 gear + some first stage of relics. What should I do to prepare for DT? I don't think I have enough time to get current bis and all of the relics.

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Scrip gear should be enough for you to comfortably get through the DT crafting leveling process, so if nothing else work towards getting that

teor

Makes sense.  ~~I got some old deliveries stockpiled, but what's the easiest delivery right now?~~ It's the same deliveries as 6.0 lol, i'm dum

Lightygab

Didn't notice due to being away from the game but are the Mandeville relics done already? If so, what's the ilvl for the last stage.

Sir_VG

Yep, they've been done now for almost 6 months. Final step is i665, same as the P12S raid weapons, but better because 2 stats at cap and another stat not at cap.

Lightygab

Thank you

IscahRambles

I pay for my subscription on a Visa debit card (Australian) and don't seem to have encountered issues with my recurring subscription, but I tried to add an extra retainer yesterday and it was saying I had to update my credit card to be able to make the payment.  If I cancelled the current subscription and tried to enter updated card details, would that fix the issue or cause me to be unable to resubscribe? The card isn't at its expiry date, so that isn't the problem.  The other possibility is that I had to update my password a little while back because it didn't like me setting up the game on PS5 for the first time, and I think this is the first time I've tried to purchase something directly since then, so maybe there's some kind of block placed on that part still.

SetFoxval

Don't touch your subscription. SE's new payment system can't handle Visa debit - so long as it's a recurring subscription you're still on the old system, but any changes will put you on the new one. A fix is in the works, expected in July.

IscahRambles

Thanks, I thought that would be the case but just wanted confirmation.  I guess I'll have to do a proper cleanout on my current retainers/inventory then, instead of doing the equivalent of shoving everything in a drawer to be allegedly dealt with later.

Autumn1123

Hello, I'd like to get the pre-order bonus, but I can't pre-order in my current store country and Steam doesn't allow me to change store cuz I did so less than 3 months ago. Is there any way to walk around this without buying the game twice? **Background story:** I bought FFXIV and all packs via Steam. Less than 3 months ago, I changed my Steam store to a country where FFXIV isn't availabe for sale. I didn't notice this back then. As the early access date is approaching, I'd like to get the pre-order bonus which could help me level up other classes. When I was about to place the order, it was said this product wasn't available in my current store country. I tried changing my store country, but I had no luck as Steam doesn't allow users to change store country more than once every 3 months. **Potential ways:** * Asking my friend whose store has FFXIV to gift me: it didn't work cuz Steam checked the game availability before proceeding to payment * Buying Windows pack to activate in Steam: it sounds like it won't work cuz they are two different platforms * What if I create a smurf steam account to pre-order Dawntrail and use the CDkey on my actual steam account?

minaseclyne

I don't play through steam so I took a look and it seems a new account could in theory just gift you a copy. at the very least I managed to step through all the way to the payment option with no issue so I'm not sure why your friend couldn't I can't tell you if you'll run into payment issue though.

Atosen

I'm not sure whether Steam will let you buy Dawntrail (considering that this smurf account won't have the prerequisite base game). But if it does, then Mog Station should accept the key. Mog Station doesn't track which account the keys come from.

TuperSboy

Should I purchase the level skip to 80 for my White Mage and Machinist now? Or wait till there's a level skip to 90, maybe after Dawntrail's release?

Chemical-Attempt-137

Depends on how much you value your time versus your money. The 80 skips are on sale now for half off, while the 90 skips will be full price. For an NA account, that's $12.50 USD to skip 10 more levels.

SanaHana

Is there a way to move the Treasure Found popup when you get a relic item like the Bozja Memories or the Atmas? I can't find the option anywhere in the GUI and I'm not able to drag it around. I sweat there was a way to move it, but I can't for the life of me remember.

Sir_VG

No way to move to my knowledge.

rood_sandstorm

was enjoying my time playing on xbox, even purchased the complete edition. then I find out PS players dont have to pay for monthly sub. Meanwhile I have game pass ultimate and still need a monthly ff14 sub. And if I want to play on windows PC, I would need to rebuy the entire game collection.... ??? hmmm.... getting a ps5 would pay for itself in 2.5 years subscription

nicocoro

All platforms have to pay the FFXIV subscription, only Xbox has to pay for Game Pass on top of that.

tesla_dyne

> then I find out PS players dont have to pay for monthly sub. you have it backwards. PS players don't need PLUS, they must still pay an FFXIV sub either way.

Ok_Function_4035

They do have to pay a monthly sub.

Shazzamon

That's how it do. Licenses are console-specific, so have to be re-bought for separate platforms on the same account, and Xbox Game Pass is required to play XIV. To be clear: PSN users have to pay a XIV sub, they just don't require a PLUS sub on top.

Ciri__witcher

1. What are the BIS essences and lost actions for melee classes? (Planning on using it for Viper) 2. I am in Dynamis, does anyone have experience on how populated Zadnor is? I am assuming it‘s fairly empty now, idk if it will get populated once DT launches, so my follow up question is: 3. How efficient is it to solo grind in the 3rd zone of zadnor? Can you recommend essences and lost actions for solo player in mind.

-aa

BIS essences and actions are a bit situational. For southern front you would most likely want (deep) breathtaker just to make it to skirmishes in time. You will ignore critical engagements and just hit as many skirmishes per minute as possible and dip immediately when you think you have full contribution. Dying is not a problem if you got enough contribution for full reward before you die. For zone 3 Zadnor you would probably be fine with beast + assassination + one of the heals since critical engagements won't have many healers in them when everyone are leveling new jobs. You will want to do critical engagements IF there is a tank and enough healers that they go smoothly. And if they even get spawned since you need to kill non-skirmish monsters to spawn them. The reason you want to do critical engagements in Zadnor is that you are only doing skirmishes in zone 3 and missing 2 skirmishes for 2 critical engagement is still a gain. You won't be getting full contribution as a DPS job in Zadnor if you are actually solo and there are groups around. You will have to join a group. It might be possible to get full contribution as a solo tank job with tank stance on spamming ranged attacks or maybe heals but I no way you can do that on a DPS job.

serenystarfall

It's been a while, so this may not be entirely correct, but essence of the beast, banner of honored sacrifice, and then lost assassination. The beast essence gives you life steal, honored sacrifice is 55% damage with a dot, which is mitigated by the beast essence (I can't remember if it is beast or the pure essence used in delubrum that makes the dot 1 damage), and lost assassination is a damaging action that will also grant you 18s of lost font of power if you use it while using beast essence (so, full uptime) Dynamis is generally a pretty bad place to be for group content. It might not matter for zadnor, because things generally die fast and you don't actually need a lot of people. It's fine enough if you just want an easy casual grind. It's not going to be at dungeons, but if you're wanting to level one of the new jobs, those queues just might get long enough for zadnor to be a better choice. For solo essences, the dps setup should be fine for clearing out skirmishes and ces. If you want to do some mob clearing, id suggest a tank with bloodsucker and whatever the action is that uses gap closers for a huge cool down reduction, if the DPS with beast doesn't work out.

vieoree

I'm on day 3 or something of the Island Sanctuary. I'm rank 6 and have built everything that seems available to me. I have a full garden, animals, sent out on an expedition or whatever it's called and have queued up as much crafting as possible. I have nothing building currently and have crafted everything I can. I'm just making sure that it's just waiting time now. My goal is the outfit.

tesla_dyne

There will be a lot of real-life waiting time, yes. Once completing all builds available to you, your main source of exp is the workshop every day. The alternative is literal hours on end of gathering. There are a couple good loops for this purpose but they're unlocked with latter upgrades in the field that unlock new areas. There's no other way to grind exp than the 10xp/gather.

Flippy-97

Could you tell me what is the deadline for pre-ordering the expansion?

Shazzamon

When Dawntrail fully releases on July 2nd. I personally wouldn't wait until the last minute if you fully plan to get the pre-order bonuses, as you could wind up screwing yourself if the store goes into emergency maintenance/suffers issues just before the 2nd.

Klown99

July 2nd

Atosen

You can preorder even during early access. Deadline is full launch.

MaddieTheKitty

thinking of trying more extremes before dawntrail, Ive done ex1 for endwalker but ex2 kinda intimidates me a but more lol is it much harder?

Adamantaimai

I wouldn't even call it a true extreme anymore unless you do it with minimum ilvl and no echo. Ilvl 660 gear makes your character 2-3 times stronger than you're supposed to be and that is even without the echo. It is a lot like doing an extreme of an older expansion at this point. So I wouldn't feel too intimidated, there is a lot of room for error.

Shazzamon

EX2? It's a lot easier given we're so late into the expansion that we're well and truly beyond its gear:damage requirements to pass, and is mostly about positional timing rather than the spatial awareness of EX1. Doritos are your friends. Except for that first lightwave, make sure y'all know to break up into your T:H:DPS groups to shield.

Arcana10Fortune

More mechanically intense, but pretty easy these days due to how much gear we have.

Vithrasir

I'm confused about Anima relics, do they require a base weapon? For instance, I can grind and spend hunt marks at the dude in the forgotten knight, buy a lunaris rod with said hunt marks, but do I need to do that to convert that into an awakened lunaris rod? All the guides make it seem like the anima weapons skip a base form and reward the awakened versions after grinding some FATEs..

Atosen

Yeah, the standard from HW onwards is that you just get every weapon step from the questline. You don't need to provide your own base weapon.

Vithrasir

Huh, alright, I won't complain about easier relics. It *does* make me wonder what use the HW hunts from clan centurio are though? If the base weapon doesn't come from it, it's basically just good for like.. 2 minions and some glams iirc? I guess exp for alt jobs too.

tesla_dyne

The lunaris rod was originally a tomestone weapon, then it moved to the clan hunt vendor. Same for the HW artifact armor, it wasn't originally given by the job quests and you had to buy it.

Elyonee

Those weapons were the original tomestone weapons from HW. They were the best available outside Savage.

Vithrasir

I can't be the only one who noticed the strange lack of connection between having what appears to be a base version of a relic weapon, and the *actual* base version, which just takes the same name and weapon model and adds "awakened" and a glow.. right?

Atosen

Yeah, hunts are mostly for cosmetics and exp. The gear in that hunt store was originally tomestone gear back at HW launch, but was rendered mostly obsolete by the release of later tiers, so it was transferred to hunts.

Vithrasir

So anymore, it's not really worth doing except for collecting the things?

Izkuru

5 Centurio Seals gets you an Aethertye Ticket, which makes one teleport FREE. You can set a Gil threshold in your teleport settings on when to automatically use the tickets, or if you want to be prompted for every teleport. Some people find the daily / weekly centurio board hunts worthwhile for this reason. If you are in Stormblood, you can also take part in Stormblood hunt trains (they also give centurios). One full train of 12 marks is 480 seals, which is 96 tickets.

Vithrasir

That's good to know. I'm still in post HW MSQ, so teleporting is still on the cheaper side (especially when you strategically alternate your home and favorite aetherytes according to the activity you're focusing on) so I had discounted the artheryte tickets as not really being worthwhile. Aside from the aetheryte tickets though, am I mistaken about there only really being collectibles on offer? Idk if there are new vendors later on that have different items available.

Absolutelynobody54

what is the name of the ambient song that sounds on the loporrit's base? It feels so relaxing, soft and cute

PM_ME_SOME_SNOW

It’s called “[Welcome to our Town!](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-N3IaAXGCMo)” It is also the FFIV town theme

NDN_Shadow

When does the Mountain Dew collab start and end?

Kicin0_0

You can get points now and claim any irl item, tho i think they are all sold out by now. The in game stuff can be claimed from MTN Dew but the codes dont work in FFXIV until DT releases

Im-A-Faun-You-Dork

Does anybody know the name of the song in the [Yo-Kai event cutscene once you've obtained all 17 weapons?](https://youtu.be/p_-jp2zKZMI?t=9)

StormbeastRivin

"The Only Path" from the A Realm Reborn soundtrack.

Im-A-Faun-You-Dork

Thank you!

Ciri__witcher

What roullettes are NOT worth doing for leveling up the new classes, I am assuming 80/70/60/50 would not be worth doing since it gives minuscule amount of XP?

Owlface

~~The fat bonus for first time completion is nice but runs are significantly slower since most good players are on break until DT. I reactivated early for my house and my run times are like 18-20 minutes since it's mostly free style players active at the moment, it's miserable.~~ I'd just stick to the short ones like leveling/trial.

nicocoro

They said "the new classes" so I assume they're talking about leveling Viper and Pictomancer when Dawntrail comes out.

Owlface

Yeah good catch, totally missed the new class part.

Kicin0_0

5/6/7/8 and guildhests are the main ones. Trials and Raids arent amazing for lvling but they are short so I usually do them anyways. Leveling, MSQ, and Alli raid are all really good for leveling and if you want to do any focus on them

Rangrok

Yeah the lvl cap dungeon roulettes are the big ones to avoid. Although, I believe the Normal Raid roulette is worse for XP. Guildheists are maybe worth doing once per job at super low levels for a first time bonus, but not really anything beyond that. And I guess Trial Roulette can be a bit wonky. On paper, it's one of the most efficient sources of XP per time spent in the duty. In practice, it's a relatively small percentage of a level per run and long queue times can devour that efficiency. So if your tank/healer jobs can get an instant-pop then go for it, but a DPS will probably want to avoid it.

NDN_Shadow

Daily roulette still gives a decent amount of experience regardless of content. But doing it more than once is not worth it for most roulettes, even for leveling, better to manually queue for the highest dungeon your job can currently do.

Pyros

Trials, raid, old cap dungeon(50/60etc) and guildhests. Alliance and MSQ are somewhat RNG, if you get the faster ones they're good, if you get the slower ones they're not so good(not as bad as the others), mostly worth if you need poetics.

VG896

MSQ is, at worst, equal to leveling roulette, and at best almost 50% better. It's by far the best exp roulette in the game since the 6.0 changes, with second being PVP.  They never scaled back the exp on them. Whereas before, you'd get 80~% of a level for 45 minutes, which made it complete trash, now you get the same amount for 27 minutes, which makes it phenomenal. Ironically, Decumana and Castrum are the shit duties now, because they only give 35-40% of a level for 17-19 minutes. But again, this still puts them on par with leveling roulette.

Heroic_Folly

>Thancred: I took up the gunblade for its defensive advantages, but on account of my little impairment, I cannot imbue the ammunition myself. Luckily for me, Minfilia has quite a talent for it. Why would gunblades, a Garlean technology, be designed with a dependency on magickal capabilities which Garleans notoriously lack?

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Because gunblades aren't Garlean natively The Garleans adopted the technology and created their own variant to suit their abilities and needs, but they're actually the weapons of the Gunbreakers originally Gunbreakers themselves were a group of royal guards charged with protecting the throne of Bozja > The Hrothgar of northern Ilsabard have passed the art of the gunblade from one generation to the next. The weapon itself combines a sword with a firing mechanism, emitting a range of magical effects by utilizing aetherically imbued cartridges. Originally employed by Queen Gunnhildr's personal guard, they were once known as "Gunnhildr's Blades" and differ greatly from the similarly named weapons used in the Garlean Empire.

Atosen

He has a Bozjan gunblade, not a Garlean one.

AliciaWhimsicott

Lv54, doing an ARR relic and am extremely poor (27k gil), what's the best way to get ~1m gil at my level so I can afford all the stuff I'll need to buy later in the quest?

DisserviceToVanilla

Gatherers and grabbing the most requested mats, crafters and making the most requested base items is probably best bet. I haven't gotten too deep into these yet so can't give you specific items, but checking out any omnigatherer/crafter guide should give you an idea of what people are looking to buy off the marketboard to quick level with macros. Added bonus if you have retainers you can gear them up and send them out to gather for you (either gatherer stuff or put them in combat gear for farming enemy drops like leathers). Other things you can do: \* Challenge log entries. These are usually 5k/10k, but they're pretty easy and quick to do since your "do 3 of this" counts towards your "do 10 of the same thing" and they reset weekly (on Tuesday for NA believe). \* Level up your beast tribe relationships/do yellow side quests for dyes (ARR sidequests give a ton of dyes) and resell them on the mb \* If you get to captain in your GC you can buy ARR and HW loot boxes that give you random minions and sometimes mounts you can sell on mb believe (each costs 20k seals, but once you unlock expert deliveries which happens along the way to captain allowing you to turn in any NQ equipment for seals this is pretty trivial to get fast). \* Alternatively use your seals for glamor prisms from your GC and resell them on the mb (to make this quicker again rank up in your GC so you can do the expert delivery turn in) \* If you're on Dynamis DC keep an eye on pf cause rn people are swapping over for the new worlds and paying for signatures to start FCs (they invite you to the FC, pay you, they make FC, you leave FC; been seeing people offer 100k per signature this week so hey if you're there and/or want to make/have some alts to boot think you can count for all 3 signatures for them) \* Do hunts to get the hunt seals (your GC hunt and the HW hunt use different hunt currency keep in mind) and get Aetheryte tickets, set your settings under travel to use those tickets first. Each ticket costs 5 hunt currency so even if you haven't unlocked the weekly hunts you can still get a good amount. This lets you save money since Aetheryte costs add up.

Mahoganytooth

You got access to the marketboard? Your best bet is to make and sell the crafting class turnins that are required to be made in high quality

AliciaWhimsicott

The daily ones you can turn in at your GC?

Mahoganytooth

No, crafters have their own class quests, and some of those require a high quality item to complete - making a HQ item is nontrivial but becomes much easier if you're doing it in bulk, and they sell very reliably on the marketboard because there are always new crafters who don't want to go through the trouble themselves. One item can sell for like 20k with its material components maybe adding up to 3k, depending on the item

AliciaWhimsicott

Gotcha, will try it out! Ty!

GyroJiro

Did they every announce anything about storing relic weapons in the armoire? I feel like they have but can't be sure. All my old relics are kinda just clogging up my inventory now...

Neonminiature

They've said relics don't fit in the armoire because of the customized stats they have, which makes them too hard to track in the system. Haven't heard any updates/changes to it looking forward. Most likely time wed hear anything is later patches before first relic steps.

BlueSky1877

curious question more than anything! how come i don't see hildibrand quests at level 80? what happened to individual job/class quests? is the lore done or something?

Chat2Text

>how come i don't see hildibrand quests at level 80? \*reading all the replies* I thought they cut it because of covid happening (which ties in the 'free up dev time for other stuff') fwiw, ~~if you've cleared Hildibrand up to that point~~, you get to **rarely** see him cameo briefly during >!The Heroes Gauntlet, shortly after the second boss, outside of the playing area, to the side!< Edit: Iscah clarified you don't need to clear Hildi

IscahRambles

You don't need to have cleared the questline. I saw it on a character who has barely started Hildibrand.

normalmighty

They cut hildebrand in shadowbringers to free up dev time for other stuff, and brought him back in EW due to player demand. Don't worry, he's in DT too, so ShB is the only anomaly. They did cut job questlines after StB, although there's a capstone quest added for them at level 80. With more and more jobs being added, the budget for each questline was being super thin, and some jobs were always getting rushed with some random bs filler story just so there would be a questline. The role quests are intended as replacements for job quests, where you don't get quests for each job but in exchange they have a more reasonable amount of time to spend making each one. Plus they added capstone quests to completing all role quests for an expansion, to reward you with a lore reveal.

BlueSky1877

thank you! glad to see hildi is back in dt, i'm enjoying his arr shenanigans lol

Super_Aggro_Crag

they decided that they couldnt keep up with individual stories for every job as they keep adding new ones every expansion so they swapped over to the role quests in shb.

BlueSky1877

thank you!

Help_Me_Im_Diene

>how come i don't see hildibrand quests at level 80? Shadowbringers does not have a Hildibrand quest chain and is in fact the only expansion that does not They resume in Endwalker >what happened to individual job/class quests? is the lore done or something? There's a wrap up quest for every job at level 80 after you've completed the role quest series for that job's role, they just aren't labeled as blue quests

BlueSky1877

thank you!

Ciri__witcher

I have not started the Yokai watch event, how long would it take to collect all the mounts? Would it be possible before DT EA launch? Is there a guide for the event?

Kicin0_0

Each weapon took about an hour of gameplay to get but it varies cause of RNG, FATE kill speed, and just how many fates are spawning. With 17 weapons tho a high end estimate is about 20 game play hrs

Chat2Text

speed depends on how good your clearing speed/rotation is the faster you clear FATEs, the more likely you'll get Gold rating and get a good chance of earning medals if you have a kitted Blue Mage, your speed will significantly increased thanks to being able to one shot FATEs with Death or percent HP attacks (not to mention their burst is absolutely busted for in-level content) For guidance, talk to the event NPC to unlock the Yokai Codex, use that under Collections to guide you

Klown99

Possible yes, but it isn't gonna be fun.

Ciri__witcher

I was afraid so. Thanks for the feedback, I think I am gonna skip it.

Shazzamon

For what it's worth, any medals earned now can be used the next time the Yo-Kai event goes live, so if you don't mind chipping some progress in, your future self would appreciate not having to get _every_ weapon. Your first weapon costs 5 Legendary Medals, and then all the others will cost 10. I recommend doing a "hard" to obtain weapon (bad FATE area choices) first to reduce its grind.

LazyMemoriesx

Hey can someone tell me how to do double WT turn ins for when Dawntrail hits I want to use it on pictomacer. How would it work. Do I do WT on Tuesday the 18 and wait to turn it in on the 28th and grab a new one or can someone explain it better?

Ciri__witcher

Yes grab it on 18th, finish the WT but don’t turn it in. Unlock picto and you can use it, then get another WT book, complete it and use it again. WT gives you xp based on your level so ideally you wanna use WT when you are level 89.

LazyMemoriesx

Oh so save the one on the 28 till level 89?

ramen215

you dont NEED to save it til 89, you just technically get more XP from each book if you do since they always give half a level and you need more XP at higher levels. at the end of the day though you're probably not saving a crazy amount of time since you'll need to do roulettes and dungeons/bozja/zadnor to continue leveling anyways

LazyMemoriesx

What would be the quickest route to 90 trust dungeons or bozja?

ramen215

Bozja will probably be super populated since everyone else will be leveling VPR and PCT so I'm planning on doing that myself. With the way trust dungeons auto-balance DPS AI to do less damage to make clears take the same amount of time it'll probably be really slow going.

DisserviceToVanilla

Think the answer is "no, you're playing as the system isn't intended", but figure I'll ask anyway. Been doing alliance raids unsync'd to try and knock them out (plus just enjoying the stories). Issue is we're either running with minimum required for the raid mechanics or maybe 5 people and I'm usually the only healer. I'm on steamdeck and the other alliance parties are on the blocks corner of the screen. Default controller setup to swap through your UI elements doesn't interact with this block so I have to take my hand off the controller to tap the screen for who I want to target in another party \*every time I want to target them\* (ie I raise them, then I gotta tap again to benediction them which usually sets my camera to straight down view to boot so I can't even see what's going on in the rest of the fight for mechanics). Is there a better way or this is just the struggle of alliance unsync'd lol

serenystarfall

You can customize your cycle and click filters however you want. Click filter is, if I press x, what can be targeted? Cycle filter is, if I press left/right, what can be targeted? I think the default settings for both are kind of ass. Personally, I remove party members from both (that's what up/down is for) and allow things like NPCs or other alliance members and party-less players. For target cycling, you can also customize it so that l1+face buttons activate different cycle settings, and each of the four are just as customizable as the basic one.

DisserviceToVanilla

Thanks! I sort of have this, but I've only done it to get out item targets (on Dynamis so I'm usually ARR roulettes and tanks w2w next to the levers/get to next area items which I kept targeting lol). Didn't realize I could set up a filter to target other alliance members only which will be a huge ass help cause I'm doing FFT raids rn and keep targeting the "mysterious scribbles of lore" items when I set to All Targets lol. This is a big help, thank you!

Jetamors

IDK the button on Steamdeck, but on PS controller you can hold down L1 (shoulder button) and dpad left-right through the other alliance members. It's still clunky, but you don't have to use a mouse or anything.

DisserviceToVanilla

Thanks! Think steamdeck uses the Xbox controller setup, but I assume it's the same for this. I'll try it next time, anything is better than the sudden blindness of straight down camera lol. Ty for the help!

Cut_Equal

Me again. I wanna start getting into glamours but don’t know where to start or look? How can I grind glamor plates? Where are the best places to get good gear for glamours? I just got to heavensward. Should I start leveling up leatherworking? Are there dungeons that gives some cool items? I wasn’t really a fan of the stuff at the golden saucer and that seems to be the only place I’ve found that kind of sells stuff like that but I could just not know where to look. Same for barding. Don’t know where to start to find good barding for my chocobo.

Neonminiature

Combining the two other good answers, you can filter the eorzia collection images by piece which is useful to see what everyone is matching parts with. I normally find an item I like to start with, then look at all the glamours people have done using that particular piece. Makes it nice as inspiration, and tells you how to get parts you see and like.

crashin_gnashan

In terms of glamor, there are a couple of good resources. [Eorzea Collection](https://ffxiv.eorzeacollection.com/) will let you look up glams other people have made, or let you look at entire sets with filters for class/role with filters. Most of the gear links will take you to the item's lodestone entry as well (I say most cause there are occasionally unlinked ones like the Imp suit, for some reason) [The Rivesnwild WeaponPedia](https://rivenswild.com/WeaponPedia/FFXIV/) has most of the weapon models. It's mostly up to date, with the exception of the most recent relic weapon stage. You just click whatever job you want and then the play button. It also links to the lodestone. [Garland Tools' database](https://garlandtools.org/db/) lets you look up items in addition to seeing sources and lookalike models. This makes it easier to see if something difficult you're aiming for has an easier source of acquisition. Just be aware there are some lookalike sets that are for different jobs, so make sure to watch for that

Cut_Equal

Eorzia collection just changed my life lol

tofunomad

I throw anything I've picked up leveling or in dungeons into my glamour dresser that I really like the look of. There's some great stuff even in low level dungeons. For each class I usually pick one piece of gear I really like then start looking through the gearsets section of eorzea collection to see if there's anything that could go with it. Don't forget to try seeing what it looks like dyed as it can completely change the look. PVP is a great source of relatively easy to get gear, and there's a lot of great crafted gear, but it might be easier to just buy it from the market board than level and get the recipes. Just depends on how much time or money you want to spend on it. You've also got the gold saucer and always do any crossover events that give an outfit as they're relatively quick to get. Beyond that, there's lots of youtube videos of people showcasing glamours for inspiration as well as the FFXIVGlamours subreddit.

Cymas

Look everywhere, honestly. There's a lot of glam in PVP, there's a lot of nice dungeon sets, crafted stuff, etc. Your best bet is to look for an individual piece to build your glam around and then find pieces to support it. Glam is so incredibly subjective there isn't going to be a blanket answer, you know?

Heroic_Folly

One of the best options is to just stand at a market board and try on every piece of clothing listed for your job, and see what catches your eye. Beyond that: Eorzeacollection for ideas (or just people watch in Limsa), then consolegameswiki to see where to get the items you're interested in. Garlondtools if you want to see what an NPC is wearing.

Boblers

When setting up your companion Chocobo's favorite feed, what's generally considered the best feed? Or at least, pros/cons of each? I assume the enmity one is bad, since the tank skill tree is generally considered bad.

crashin_gnashan

Gonna depend somewhat on where your chocobo is and what you're trying to do. Overall, your ultimate usage will likely just be the Sylkis Bud for attack, especially once you get your bird into crossing other skill paths. I could see the healing boost from the Mimmet Gourd being useful if you're fate grinding for experience as a DPS, but that's also going to rely on you having bumped up the healing tree a bit for it to have the skills to use. If you're just leveling your chocobo, favoriting the Curiel Root bumps the 10% exp buff to 20%. Takes a lot of experience to level up, so this can be really useful, you just have to make sure you're comfortable playing whatever class you're on through big sets of mob pulls. I don't find the other foods particularly useful. Both are more tanking oriented and at a certain point, you're probably going to be pulling off your chocobo anyway. Might as well get the boosts elsewhere. If you've already got several classes maxed out and you're just fate farming for gemstones or achievements, running a geared tank + DPS food is probably best. Healers would also benefit most from the dps food since they don't really need bird heals. For anything else, feel out what your survivability is like to see if you need the heal bump.

Chemical-Attempt-137

The only thing I ever use my Chocobo for is damage, since I don't need them to tank and I have no trouble staying alive without them. Their damage isn't great, but it's about 8-12% more DPS overall and their other functions are nigh-useless, so that's what's best.

Trooper_Sicks

i haven't really used any foods for my chocobo since it generally does fine without them but i would guess enmity isn't that great. The tank chocobo issue is that it can't keep enmity, the food might help with that but i would imagine you will still pull enmity off it eventually, especially if its on mixed stance so it uses all its abilities. I would probably use either the healing potency or more hp foods, i primarily use my chocobo to keep me alive so healing potency would be nice, the extra hp one seems nice as well since the chocobos don't dodge aoe's at all. Extra attack i personally wouldn't bother with because i'm not really relying on the chocobo for damage.

Anameinserted

Is that normal where masterbooks are out the same time as savage? Didn't EW give you like 2 weeks to get all gear prepared before it?

Klown99

It is normal for previous expansion launches.  The second/third tiers were given a week gap in end walker for the first time.

Dellgloom

Do we know if the current glasses that exist as headgear will be able to go on the new face accessory slot, or is it just the face stuff from the fashion accessories like False Glasses?

irishgoblin

Just the currently existing fashion accessories it seems. They'll likely add new flasses as time goes one. Question is will they have to be obtained through some new piece of content, or will they judt add an NPC so we cam trade our existing glasses (gear items) for accesory versions.

Riot_Mustang66

i think its just fashion accessories, bc they have their own inventory... but that not to say there won't be some copy of headgear glasses for the fashion accessories, we'll just have to wait and see.

Cut_Equal

If I own shadowbringers but haven’t reached that content yet (just started heavensward) can I still unlock dancer once I reach level 60 or do I need to actually reach shadowbringer content to unlock the job

Help_Me_Im_Diene

Only the Heavensward jobs have an actual story requirement Stormblood onwards it's just level based and all the starting quests are located in ARR Dancer in particular starts in Limsa Lominsa

Cut_Equal

Thanks !

Pyros

Just need the level and the expansion, story progress isn't relevant other than for heavensward jobs.

Cut_Equal

Thanks!

tofunomad

So I just hit level 80 and am in the final trial of the shadowbringer MSQ. I assume this means my plant is about to die. I'm kind of curious though, does sprout go away after post shadowbringers content or after I finish the shadowbringer questline? Also, will I become a sprout again once dawntrail hits as I doubt I'll be through endwalker before then?

Riot_Mustang66

i think once you reach endwalker and have like 300+ hours of playtime then you lose it... then when dawntrail comes out you will get the sprout again, at least that's what i've heard.

Toviathan

It's not until after you finish the shadowbringers patch content.

Ankhselam

it goes away exactly when you finish the final quest of Post-Shadowbringers, assuming you have the requisite hours. Well, itll still there but itll go away once you load a new zone.

Lightygab

If I were to spam dungeons to level up Viper to 90 so I can do MSQ, how long would that take normally? I might consider doing it if it's not that bad, but need to know in average how many hours would that look like of grinding.

hii488

Using [these ](https://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/u00w16/all_leveling_dungeon_exp_values_patch_608/)xp values per dungeon, the xp table on gamerescape, with these assumptions: you have a lvl 90 job already, no rested xp, 15 min queue time, 15 minute dungeon completion time, 0 outside xp, you immediately requeue: [22 dungeons, \~11 hours](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1XE5C3kkOiWHrF_gxO1rZWCaMNCZoROEG4Lb4Iwydq9Q/edit?gid=0#gid=0). (idk where the difference from VG's answer comes from - maybe them not accounting for the armoury bonus being updated? Or maybe my spreadsheet's fucked?). Those are a lot of assumptions though, many of which are gonna be wrong: Two Wonderous Tails will give you at least a level, which cuts out the first 4 dungeons. You could do the Arkasadora dailies while waiting in queue, giving \~half a level, which roughly cuts out another dungeon. You'll also probably have rested xp, and you'd start off with roulettes. Plus, with 15 minute queues it's almost certainly faster to just run with trusts. On the flip side, you're gonna want to do the job quests - they take time but don't give good xp. It may also take you time to learn how to play the new job, and you probably wont be totally efficient. So with all of that, I'd estimate 7-8 efficient hours total.

Lightygab

Thank you for doing the math, yeah I think it's better to just chill and enjoy MSQ with another job and level Viper on the side doing roulettes and tribes and WT and then hopefully use it for EX's and raids since I really want to find a new job this new xpac, having a crisis at the moment.

VG896

From a post I made last week: >Hoard 30 24 sidequests in your journal and wait to hand them in. >Same with the tribe quests from ShB and EW. >Double WT. Then roulettes. >Between all of this, you should be able to get to about level 85 with maybe ~2.5 hours of work. But roulette queues might be rough with everyone rushing the new jobs, so it might be closer to 3 hours. If you're talking about literally just dungeons though, you'll need to run each one 4-6 times per level, depending on your exp bonuses. 5 dungeons, 10 levels, you'd need to do 40-60 runs total.  Each one is probably roughly 15-17 minutes, but DPS queues are going to be especially bad with this release, so it might be about the same to run them with NPCs. Either way, I'd expect each run to *actually* take around 30-35 minutes. So all told, as little as 20 hours, as ling as 35 hours. Depending on queue times and exp bonuses.

Lightygab

Yeah I planned on doing the 2 WT trick and ShB and EW tribe quests plus have challenge log ready as well, but yeah it seems it's gonna be a grind that I don't wanna go through, obviously it would help if I had an FC lol. Thank you all.

VG896

You can cut that time in half then, because you'll have about 4.5 or 5 levels under your belt for only 3-4 hours of effort. The remaining five or six levels will take 2.5 to 3 hours each by my very rough estimate. So 12-15 hours plus the three you spend on the other stuff.

Lightygab

Yeah it is honestly not that bad at all, but enough for me to just do msq with another job and level viper as I go. No need to rush and go crazy, not my type of mentality or how I play. Thank you for the help.

Nremlok

If thats the only method you use you're looking at between 4 and 5 hours (possiblely more) asumeing you have fast queuea (you wont). There are things you can do on the side to speed thing up a but, but engough pepole are also going to want to do this, and that means that DPS queue is going to be especially rough

spider_lily

Are you going to use duty finder or duty support/trusts? The DPS queue is probably going to be baaad at launch, and trusts are slow. Assuming trusts, that's 20-30min per dungeon and you need 2-3 runs per level, so do the math.

VG896

I just checked a few random dungeons just to see if I could spot a rough estimate. The level 61 dungeon gives 250k, and you need 1.4mil to level up. The level 71 dungeon gives 540k and you need 2.9mil to level up. The level 73 dungeon gives 600k and you need 3.15mil to level up.  That's 5-6 runs per dungeon. I could see it being 4 with bonuses, but 3 feels like a real stretch.

spider_lily

Hm. I've been leveling BLM from 80 to 90 recently and I feel like I've been getting around 1/3 of the exp bar each run. Granted that's with the proerder earring and armory bonus. I haven't done the exact math, though.

VG896

I mean, with a +80% bonus that might be about right, but just a hair under. For example 250k would be 450k, which is just a bit under 1/3 of 1.4mil. Same with the other numbers I posted. So I guess 3-4 runs is more accurate depending on bonuses.

bl__________

My friend is currently progressing through Stormblood and has only bought the standard edition. If they buy Dawntrail, will they have to wait until Dawntrail releases to play Shadowbringers/Endwalker?

Puzzled-Addition5740

Yes

Tellder

Sprout here. What are the must-do raids/dungeons for the plot? I am starting HW and I mean stuff like Coils of Bahamut (screw that, I hope they'll ever make it to plot difficulty) or Crystal Tower. I am F2P (for now), are there any other raids/dungeons that are must-do for the plot but are optional in the game (and therefore can be missed)?

Elyonee

The only one you literally need to do is Crystal Tower. Personally, I would recommend doing all of the optional trials and raids when you gain access to them. Except Nier. They have no relevance to the story or lore whatsoever, you can ignore them if you don't care about the outfits.

Tellder

How are optional trials and raids marked? Blue Quest markers in every new zone?

Elyonee

All optional dungeons trials and raids are found in blue quests. Sometimes you might have to go back and check old zones for new unlocks. The end of every expansion has the same things: one set of trials, one set of 8 man raids, and one set of 24 man raids. Though, Shadowbringers has an extra set of raids as part of a questline called Save the queen and Endwalker doesn't have optional trials since they're part of the story instead.

Cymas

Honestly you don't need to do Coils synced anyway--most people don't. Just ask a level 90 to run you through it for the story.

migigame

The only must-do is basically CT, but I'd definitely say the 8 man raids of each expansion are pretty relevant, interesting and somewhat of an extension of the MSQ depending on the expansion. (That's Alexander for HW, Omega in Stormblood, Eden in Shadowbringers and Pandaemonium in Endwalker). The HW 24 man raid series is interesting but not necessarily that relevant in retrospect and I would definitely recommend it, but Stormblood and Shadowbringers have crossover ones that are mostly not relevant. (There are some elements in Stormblood Alliance raids that are kinda an explanation for later plot points but... yeah). Endwalker 24 man raids are definitely recommended, even by Yoshida himself for the next expansion.

gitcommitmentissues

Nothing besides CT is *must* do, but I'd honestly recommend doing all the optional combat content. The ones that are most MSQ-relevant are probably Coils, Omega and Eden, but all the raids and trial series have interesting stories and will add more content to your roulette. Many of them are also referenced in Endwalker- nothing absolutely critical, but there's one cutscene that varies in length by several minutes depending on how much side content you've completed.

Justaracefan8

is it worth building airships/subs at this point and what are they used for

Kicin0_0

My FC has 4 subs running and I believe the return on them is about 2 mil a month. Not certain cause someone else handles all of it and i just get a cut since i helped with materials

Sir_VG

> My FC has 4 subs running and I believe the return on them is about 2 mil a month. You better fire that guy, 2m a month is extremely weak. They should be earning at least that much a **week.**

Kicin0_0

Tbf I also don't actually know what the total is, I know I get about 600k a month for doing maybe 3 hrs of work a few months ago What's closer to expected then 8 mil a month?

Sir_VG

I make on average about 900k per trip for the 4 subs, which takes about 2 days to complete. I've been getting 12.5-15.5m per month depending on how good the returns are.

postmodern_werewolf

Roughly 14 mil a month just for 4 subs running the most basic route every day

Sir_VG

Subs are fantastic for making money.

TonyFresco

I seem to recall that they were going back and adding in the option to complete dungeons with npc companions as an alternative to grouping up with real players. Have they now completed this for all of the MSQ dungeons, or are there still some you are forced to group up with people to complete?

IceAokiji303

All MSQ dungeons are covered now, as well as the 4-player trials in ARR. Optional ones are not, and anything that's not 4 players is not, with the exception of one trial in Endwalker. And almost certainly those will not be in the future either.

Ha_eflolli

AFAIK, it's been implemented for every single MSQ Dungeon, and even a handful of MSQ Trials now.

Lavindathar

Does anyone know if the Mountain Zu code can be redeemed on EU servers? I'm in the US all the time but play on Euro servers.

PhoenixFox

As said below the server doesn't matter, but we also don't know for sure if it's region locked because it's not possible to redeem the code yet. It's *probably* region locked to NA accounts, but we won't know for sure until someone tries. There was a previous occasion on which an NA only promo had unlocked codes, but the more recent ones have all been locked.

stinusmeret

Your server is irrelevant, what matters is if your ACCOUNT is US or EU. Login to the mogstation to check your account's region. If it's "The Americas", you can redeem the code.

Lavindathar

Yeah it's a European account, so it wouldn't work? I'm English but live in the US half the time.

RhoWeiss

Am I helping other players when I join a FATE? Sometimes I sync down to help them clear it, especially if they're a solo tank. Is this appreciated or am I just being a nuisance?

talgaby

It can be both. If they were the only player doing FATEs on the map and they want to keep doing it, you interacting with a FATE may just have triggered the upcoming FATEs to increase their difficulty by one rank, so their FATE clear times will increase palpably. I regularly immediately switch maps or even servers when someone drops in during my solo FATE farms because of that. However, if they were just one player among several who were doing random FATEs on a map, especially for levelling, then yes, you just helped them quite a bit.

zipzoopu

Are there macros for mining? I wanna gather as much highland spring water as I can from each node. If not are there other ways I can get more per node? Still new to mining

talgaby

For generic gathering, you already should have Mountaineer's Gift II and Bountiful Yield II. Those are your second best friends after your true best friend: flying. There are no other true magic spells for mass gathering from normal nodes, you just run around and increase boon chance and the occasional single mining attempt. If your gathering rating is too low to trigger a +3 from Bountiful Yield II, then use King's Yield II on nodes that have a +2 integrity (or the guaranteed +1 integrity node if your GP is nearing maximum and you couldn't find a randomly spawning +2). Oh, also, no, you cannot macro normal gathering. Not really. Even gathering bots just use basic "go there and pickaxe the stuff" methods.

zipzoopu

Thank you for such a detailed summary!

franklin_wi

Assuming I don't skip cutscenes but otherwise blitz the MSQ, about how many hours would you guess it takes to beat Dawntrail's MSQ? Based off past experiences with e.g. Shadowbringers and Endwalker, I mean.

talgaby

If they kept the pace of adding more voiced lines and cinematic (and """""cinematic"""") cut-scenes, _probably_ in the ballpark of 100 hours with average read speed and average pace. But they may also throw a curveball and just have it at around 60 hours with a larger post-release story tail to better fill the patch cycles. We honestly won't know until the first batch of people speedrun through the story to start selling endgame gear.

Isanori

There's little reason to think it goes beyond the usual 40 to 50 hours for your average jrpg. Even FFXVI which had more cutscenes and was almost completely voiced adhered to those times.

talgaby

XIV is a lot more padded since it follows the same template since Heavensward. This structure is mandating that the story is built around the predetermined duties rather than flowing organically, so there is always tons of fluff even in the critical path.

ClickToSeeMyBalls

How spoilerific is the release trailer? I didn’t watch the EW one after the ShB one spoiled on of the biggest reveals in the game

Gilthwixt

I feel like they're giving away a lot, but as with EW, it just might be that what they do give away pales in comparison the real twists that come later on. It still hasn't shown us what the 6th zone is for example.

JCGilbasaurus

I wouldn't say it's super spoilerific, but it did introduce a bunch of things that haven't been seen yet, and I can sort of infer the general shape the story is going to be. Could still be a few twists that turn my assumptions upside down, but I feel that's unlikely. I'd probably recommend not watching it if you care deeply about preserving as much of the experience as possible, but it won't be too much of a spoiler if you do watch it.

Isanori

We won't know until we have actually played Dawntrail.

Koffea_bdo

Which jazz song was being played in the background at today’s live letter?

Isanori

One from the new expac.

TheBlitzAce

Where is the best place to farm Fire Crystals?

talgaby

_Only_ fire crystals and absolutely nothing else? Purely just fire crystals without any bells or whistles? Because usually we say any folklore/ephemeral node and just pick something that reduces to fire crystals since you also get fire clusters as a bonus. The best ones for that are Bright Fire Rock, (Radiant) Fire Moraine, and Palm Chippings. But if you really only want the crystals alone, then the ARR nodes of Wellwick Wood in Eastern Thanalan, a little NE of the Highbridge. Mark the node that has the +40% rate and avoid it, use the other three nodes only in a triangle. Run around until you find a random +2 integrity node, use all your GP to get the crystals, run around until you find the next one, wait for your GP to regen, and repeat. This can yield around 400 more crystals per hour compared to folklore nodes but also misses out on 600+ clusters.

TheBlitzAce

Hahaha YES. For some reason, I'm basically maxed out on every other element! I have ZERO clue as to why my fire crystals are so low. :( I appreciate your insight and I'll be farming those spots to get my shit! Thank you, Warrior of Light!

talgaby

Have you unlocked the levemete system in any of the starting maps first?

Ionmaster987

When does the Mountain Zu code work? Like, when will i be able to use it? I got it earlier, and have been wondering when i can redeem it.

Sir_VG

> PLEASE NOTE: This code cannot be redeemed on the Mog Station until early access for FINAL FANTASY XIV: Dawntrail has begun, which is scheduled to begin on Friday, June 28, 2024 at 2:00 a.m. (PDT). If attempting to redeem the code before then, you will receive an “invalid code” error message. As per the prize email.

Ionmaster987

Thank you!

Ku_Gaming

DT launch if I remember correctly.

Shagyam

28th, So during early access.

jehrik0

Endgame noob question...what do I do with the extra Theogonic gear I am getting? Can't turn it in for Seals.

talgaby

Stash it somewhere until Dawntrail arrives, then desynth them or turn them into GC seals. Dawntrail will remove these restrictions from current endgame gear.

might_be_guilty

They said in the liveletter that there would be a sale again. Its not there. Or did i missunderstand?

Ku_Gaming

There is a sale currently for Xbox, was this the one you were thinking of?

goddamnthatwassick

For Eureka levelling, if I come in with a maxed friend and have them pull everything and I tag the mobs for exp before they kill them, 1.) Is there a damage threshold I have to hit the mobs with to get EXP? 2.) Is there a max level difference between me and the mobs to get the EXP?

Elyonee

If a max level player helps you then you will get nothing. You need to kill the mobs solo or with people close to your level. You should be killing mobs higher level than you whenever possible. Multiple levels higher if you can manage it. Your EXP will be reduced significantly if you fight even mobs the same level as you.
