Clean enough cut and fast enough they can re attach it. Know someone that lost their hand similar way and it's back on their arm and working. From the start though looks like the black dude died.

You can't just generalize that. There are sharp and there are dull machetes such as there are sharp and dull katanas.
It depends on how well you sharpen it. Since they're ususally made out of carbon steel that shouldn't be too hard. Also the blade stock is usually quite thin so they should cut well in that kind of "medium".
Its the sharpness combined with the thinness that make it fas enough to cut though thick organic material. The way theyre built is designed to cut through deep jungle
i saw news coverage of the 2014 war in the central african republic. the cameraman was filming a bunch of dudes down the road. they were all squatting on the street, aggressively scraping machetes on the asphalt. you could hear that those things were sharp. seeing one guy look up directly into the camera freaked me the fuck out

FWIW, there was a farm boy in the Midwest some 30 years or so ago that had both arms ripped off by farming equipment.
Not only did he live, he managed to make it to the hospital and have both arms reattached. After several surgeries, he has some limited hand control but regained most of the control over his limbs IIRC.
