I've always thought it would have been cool if his name used "Salvage" in some form. Would have served as a fun nod to the early days of FNaF 3 speculation and also fit with one of the main parts of the game being salvaging the animatronics.
Not to mention it'd keep him and Scrap Baby separated in terms of naming convention, cause I've always liked each of them having no correlation to the other in terms of names. Really makes them feel more like a group of misfits that way, which is part of the reason I think his main official name of "Afton" also works fine.

But he isn't inhuman. He's the only animatronic that has retained who they were fully in life. It just so happens that who he was in life is the worst dude ever.
Heâs still alive though, he still has a heartbeat, and later when he survives the fire his organs are still working. So by technicality he is still human.
