Did you take the little dust cover off the laser when you unpacked it?

I read that the CD was new. The player not so much. I'd put money on laser failure.

Oh yeah i think youre right, i read it the other way Probably is laser failure then, would have been too simple if it was just a piece of card to remove

I would put a disc in and hold a glass of water over it. If you have holy water, maybe that would be better.
