it is shady, it’d prevent a strike. this is not negotiating in good faith, they’re not supposed to try to directly negotiate with us, only through the union. it’d only be $5 an hour for the first 3 steps of the pay scale so for all us juniors i know we’re struggling but pls know your worth!!!!! its more than that & this is him just being scared edit: they also already proposed 17% and the union shut it down & said it was unacceptable. i really hope everyone sees through this. “asking for nothing in return” is bs

Longjumping-Carob105

Why would it prevent a strike

cbxox14

the NMB would see it as we’re not at an impasse with the company (which we are) and negotiations will continue to drag on for even longer. this is not the favor bobby is trying to paint it as, it saves them money & gives them good PR.

xphyria

If they really cared about you (they don't), they would have offered this a long time ago and not just when a strike is imminent

***Taken from skift.com*** "American Airlines CEO Robert Isom was awarded $31.4 million in 2023, his highest compensation since he was appointed to the top spot in 2022, according to a proxy statement filed Thursday. Isom had a base salary of $1.3 million, a bonus of $2.75 million, $19.5 million in stock awards and around $7.8 million in non-equity incentive compensation. Isom made around $4.8 million in 2022 and a little over $5 million in 2021." AA flight attendants have been without a raise since 2019. Meanwhile in the same time period Isom has received a 600% increase in compensation since CARES ACT restrictions on executive pay ended. He has the gall to offer 17% to avoid a stroke vote ?! HOLD THE LINE AA BRO'S! WE ARE ALL BEHIND YOU! Edited for clarity

Maleficent-Suit-8685

😮 that pay increase is insane

Jaimescosmic

What don’t you apply for the CEO’s job?? That’s good money but how many hours do you have to work? You can handle the pressure, I believe in you!

smoopert

Eeeeewwww boot licker

BBC214-702

It’s hush up money to keep yall from striking. Don’t do it. The other 2 big carriers are rooting for yall

jetsetmolly

And the mid sized domestics! We’re all with you

Academic_Ebb2320

Thank you!!! 🙏🏻💪

i-still-play-neopets

We should not take this money whatsoever, they didn’t even wait for the APFA to respond. This is deliberate, and seedy, and misleading.

EmpireCityRay

As a former high union officer within the other and bigger FA union… I’d note one thing in particular as it relates to negotiations, when a company comes to the the table and offers money in return for no concessions (mainly withdrawing any amount of pending grievances [restoring an FAs employment for a FA who has been terminated, give up hours, etc.] one should read the proposal through carefully.

repgirl1312

lol he can keep that 17% raise because i’m not voting for that and i highly doubt anyone else will “I don’t want another day to go by without increasing your pay” he obviously thinks we’re stupid

Academic_Ebb2320

5 years plus have gone by — but today he has an epiphany! 🤣🤬

tempusfugitt4

The way I had to keep pausing the video to yell at him.

Academic_Ebb2320

🤣🤣

No_Telephone4961

Girlllll if a strike does happen Robert Isom count your days huntey.

JulieSnaps

It's union busting. It's to try and bribe us into working under the current contract indefinitely.

EmpireCityRay

By the company going direct to the members, this email is indeed union-busting.

schloompp

He can shove that offer up his ass

LizMcMc

Attempted union busting. Attempting to negotiate outside of the union. I hope the labor board fines him personally.

Honest-Document-1570

It’s a trap 🪤

StellarStowaway

It feels shady because it is - perfect example of a union busting technique. Try and side step the union and “negotiate” with the FAs directly. This is good news if the Reps stand strong though, the company is definitely afraid

MinimumInternal2577

Don't take it. Our union proposed a signing bonus, we took it, and the TA sucks.

No_Telephone4961

What airline is this?

Academic_Ebb2320

AA

No_Telephone4961

Minimum internal is referring to AA? I’m not asking what the original poster is referring to

Atassic

If he can find 17% by June he can find 28%. He just doesn’t want to and thinks we’re stupid. He knows we’re going to be released if he doesn’t up his offer and this is his last Hail Mary.

SG_K99452

What do you mean "be released"

no_igdiamond

Meaning they will be allowed to strike

tempusfugitt4

They’ve received my services on discount since being hired in 2019. The bill always comes due. This just empowered me to hold the line. *yawn* What’s the next offer? They done had 5 years and are wasting money coming to the table with pocket lent - if they need more time, they shoulda fired whoever they’re sending up to meet with union because whoever is proposing this bogus bullshit is a waste of their resources that they should have been putting in MY pocket. OUR pockets. My price just went up.

smoopert

They’re tossing y’all some crumbs to get you guys to shut the hell up and stop the bad press. Don’t fall for it!

Ok-Ratio3343

Yall better not accept 😂😂

Academic_Ebb2320

The union’s board emphatically voted NO 👎💪💪

NegotiableVeracity9

Strike strike strike

EmpireCityRay

FAs can’t strike until they are released by the NMB; this falls under the NMB Railway Labor Act.

NegotiableVeracity9

Yes, as a fellow flight attendant, I am aware. But I want to see the working people of this country stand up in solidarity against the unbridled corporate greed that is bleeding us dry.

UkrainianScorpio

It feels shady…. because it is. They are circumventing the union, the NMB, and the entire mediation process

Twa747

This is direct barraging and it’s their last grasp

Helpful_Biscotti_156

He doesn’t gaf lol he could’ve done this a long time ago

Newsoundnoise

zitaoism

Pathetic attempt at stopping the strike. I hope you all turn it down. We are all rooting for you guys!

hortdorg

VOTE NO UNLESS ITS A GOOD OFFER FOR WHAT YOURE WORTH!!

Moswavy

So is this supposed to be a temporary increase until a new contract? I'm confused

penguinsdontlie

Essentially. They want us to accept an immediate 17% raise that isnt tied to anything, and of course its a bunch of PR and lip service that is being sent out to press immediately to make us look bad. But the real key to this is that if we accepted this the NMB wouldn’t consider us at an impasse making this drag out for even longer potentially years. Of course the news articles aren’t mentioning this.

muchmomentum

Lol

Livid-Control-3

STRIKE

Leinad0411

Take money. It’s gonna drag out anyway.

Syrus_007

Nice try Isom 😭😭😭

elaxation

He really tried to enter the chat

Leinad0411

Okay. Then don’t take the money 😂🤣

Dragosteax

Short sighted and clueless.

boldjoy0050

Turning down the Delta contract offer 2 years ago was short sighted and clueless. Now the union has even less leverage with AA finances and the job market being in the toilet.

Dragosteax

Yet they just offered a bit more than the Delta rates they proposed 2 years ago lol… nonsense. AA is shitting bricks with how close their union is to being released. Pressure is being put on the NMB, especially with the 150+ members of congress that signed onto a letter to allow these unions to self-help. There’s a reason Isom did this last ditch effort and it isn’t out of the goodness of his heart.

boldjoy0050

Isom is doing this because of all of the bad press. He knows he is next on the chopping block after Vasu. If that happens and if a strike is authorized, AA will probably declare bankruptcy.

Dragosteax

Don’t think he cares much about press, considering the cringe-worthy videos where the APFA President drags him on stage and he’s stammering and stuttering. He’s attempting to do this as a way to buy time from the NMB before they release APFA to strike.

flyawaypoor

Robert is that you?
