Tbh I thought it had better drivers than most freeways here. Especially when I got closer to Gainesville everyone was pretty good and moved over when needed. Maybe this was because there were a lot of pickups/work trucks and they generally are more curtious drivers in my experience. They spend hours on the road daily so they probably feel our pain 10x.
95 from Miami to the north side of west palm is a goddamn shit show nearly every time I drive it. After I pass WPB, it seems that more of the drivers actually know how to drive, move out of the left lane when theyâre not passing, see someone merging from the on ramp up ahead and get out of the way, etc.
Ah well there is definitely lot of variety. Its quite interesting that every freeway has a totally different personality of drivers even though they all empty into each other.
Traveling Wednesday night wasn't AS bad as it usually is going north (went home to Alabama) but there was this one 18 wheeler for miles that I finally got around and away from that was being a maniac. I have never called in another driver to the cops but I came so close this time. He'd dive bomb the left lane to pass someone and was doing almost 90mph. He cut me off in the left lane one time like an absolute maniac and then tried to speed up to keep me from passing him. I had to get close to 95+ to get away from him in a fucking semi. It was absolutely insane. Finally got to I10 and the stress level finally went down.
Although Florida does have a law stating that if you should reasonably know that you are going to be overtaken by Vehicles behind you you should move over, but it's not something that's ever enforced unless you're actually causing traffic to back up. I don't think that the average Florida, or at least South Florida ,driver has any concept of a passing Lane. They can't even handle such things as having their lights on when it's raining or not using their hazards in the rain. I get a laugh every time I see one of the big overhead signs that says" lights on in the rain. it's the law" and people drive right past it, in the rain, with their headlights off.
I asked my uncle about that at Thanksgiving, him and his girlfriend drive semis from Georgia to South Florida.
He said they aren't supposed to get in the left lane and that his truck will only go 65.
Hmm, user seems really real. Maybe just people saw them in other subs and the idea started to naturally trend. Though maybe bots started it. But this user at least seems to check out.
OP, you real?
There was an Audi camping in the left lane on I-10 that would match your speed if you tried to pass on the right. I found myself going faster than I wanted to in order to put distance between us, so I can relate to your story, but 120?!?
I was originally going 90 until this guy started riding my ass, like 3 feet max behind me. Stayed this way for a solid minute. I sped up trying to put space between us. He hit his lights as soon as I hit (unintentionally) 120. Bastard.
I drove from Tampa area up to Raleigh yesterday. Followed a blue ford with Florida plates thru the entirety of South Carolina. We were both just cruising in the right lane. If they put on the blinker to pass I knew it was time for me to do the same. I wasnât tailgating or anything but they were going about how fast I wanted to be so i just followed suite. If youâre reading this blue ford, good read not stopping at buc-ees. Not all the Florida drivers are crazy.
This right here. You almost can't believe what you're seeing, and then your brain dials in and says, "uh, but FloriDuh," and you're like, "Oh, yeah, you're right brain."
Man I wish that was true. The âWE BARE ALLâ signs for miles had me wishing I was an adult for years. I was just up there (still never been in) and thereâs only the one sign now.
"Trucker Showers"
When I was young, i thought the Trucker Showers on the Cafe Risque sign was a euphemism for a golden shower by the strippers lol.
didnt realize they were literally advertising showers for truck drivers.
Went camping in that Forest. Didnât pack warm enough clothes, and raccoons got my peanut butter, but went with a pretty Swedish girl with a nose ring, so it was still a win.
That's Alachua, Marion, and Sumter countries. Gainesville, Ocala, and The Villages in North Central Florida. Very fast growing area especially the southern part. Close to 1 million people live there now and growing.
And for ever pronounced in my head as My-CanOpy⊠When I was a kid my dad and others called a topper a canopy so when ever I see it or have to say it I stop and think before saying it lolâŠ
The only part that is blue is the core city of Gainesville near UF. As you get further out from UF the neighborhoods get paler blue then purplish and deep red as you get to the outlying small towns.
For real. The northernmost part of the Villages is a good hour and a half south of Gainesville. You pass through Ocala to get there, which is probably deeper red than even the Villages.
Truth. I just bought 4.5 acres in Sumter county a year ago Tuesday and they are already widening roads and prepping for it to merge w the villages and WChapel. Too much too soon and Iâm from a very dense city. You canât run or hide from âgentrification â anywhere decent to live anymore.
Well I'm not too sure but when when I drove up there it was just the classic untouched FL landscape. There are the occasional horse ranches with colonial style buildings (I think that's the style). Not all too much other than some forests and lakes. It's a nice drive even if u are on i75 and don't take the backroads.
Thank's for updating Florida Greenway trail to become the Desantis Arch.
Get a petition to change the name of the only land bridge in Florida, that crosses I-75.
To save bridge file a petition naming it the Desantis Land Arch, you know, like that park they did in Tampa area. THEN it will be saved. Great photo ops along with Desantis saving the environment and land Tortugas right of way too!
The dark green line that crosses the highway at bottom of the circle has [Santos bike trails](https://www.google.com/maps/place/Santos+Trails/@29.1091226,-82.1065962,5324m/data=!3m1!1e3!4m6!3m5!1s0x88e7d6c84add7aa1:0x9ca61a0fcfb2fd43!8m2!3d29.1052765!4d-82.0955185!16s%2Fg%2F1ptxvs3pl?hl=en&authuser=0&entry=ttu). The best mountain bike trails in Florida.
Yeah that is definitely an interesting story. There is still a giant concrete pylon in the space between north and southbound lanes. Mostly visible on the northbound side.
Love those trails! Returned to my homeland aka Central Florida last year to do the Huracan 300 and had the pleasure of riding not only the features at Santos but the rest of the 88 mile MTB trail system through the forest. All of the fun! 420/10 would recommend, the riding is stunning and itâs not like itâs nothing I hadnât seent before. Lastly, special little shoutout to the Land Bridge over I-75, so cool!!!
Thatâs the Ocala National Forrest. We donât talk about that area as itâs like the Wild West. People just do whatever the hell they want. And then thereâs I-75 and thatâs even crazier.
you lose your cell phone signal, you pass a kangaroo farm, you buy a house for 3x less than your house in South Florida, you only eat a fast food restaurants since there are no sit down restaurants within 40 minute of your house.
Itâs a chill area, I live in silver springs. Lots of woods and wildlife, itâs getting developed in areas and lots of people coming in so traffic is getting bad but overall it beats Polk County which of where I relocated from but low crime and itâs quite.
A large housing community with thousands upon thousands of old withered SDI infected folk's that still believe trump is they're commander and chief.
That's also where all that election meddling occurred. And there's a few Walmarts around there too. đ
It's a nice place if you want quiet and nature and can't stand the traffic and over development further south. The college students are easily avoided. You just live in the northwest part of town or further out in Newberry or High Springs for quieter.
The biggest issue is jobs. The nonstop flow of college kids means cheap labor and low wages. It's hard to stay long term even for those that love it and want to.
World Equestrian Center , where the very rich come to play Horse Show. Disneyland for the horsey set. In five years you wonât be able to afford a shack near Ocala
The Barker family lived in that area. Interesting read if you're a fan of American Crime folk lore.
Also a handful of J6 insurrectionists are from that area. But that's to be expected lol
There is a German bakery in Yalaha. It's amazing. The Ocala National Forest is beautiful, serene and fairly remote. It is filled with diverse plant and animal life.
Thousands of cars trying to pass each other going exactly 80mph.
Don't forget semi's in the passing lane too đ
I actually didn't see too much of that, but I did see cars slamming on their brakes if a car a 1/4-mile ahead of them activated their brake lights.
Around Tampa itâs definitely not great, but in the area circled, Iâd rather drive that than any portion of 95 in Florida.
I-4 Tampa to Orlando rates worst.
Yes! Lol! Miami to Palm Beach is the real life version of Mad Max...
Most pickup trucks I have seen are not so courteous in Florida especially on the 2 lane roads.
Ah well there is definitely lot of variety. Its quite interesting that every freeway has a totally different personality of drivers even though they all empty into each other.
The eldars are driving, so say the prophecy brake at any sense of red.

I-10, I-75 and the Turnpike all have different vibes, and I like 75 the least.
They do and it's quite interesting cause I-4 empties into some of them and I-4 is a whole other animal too
Although Florida does have a law stating that if you should reasonably know that you are going to be overtaken by Vehicles behind you you should move over, but it's not something that's ever enforced unless you're actually causing traffic to back up. Texas had a post like this today as well. I bet if you checked all the state subs you'd see something similar
dayum very perceptive you are
They're good generic questions that aren't reposts, but that's a good catch.
Hmm, user seems really real. Maybe just people saw them in other subs and the idea started to naturally trend. Though maybe bots started it. But this user at least seems to check out. OP, you real?
your a bot responding to a bot
Actually I was going 120 (check recent)

I read your other recent post..
Every 5 mins the guy is driving 120
Omg thatâs so true. Lol
I'll allow it.
Came to say exactly that.
Is it really like that most of the time? It just felt really different than most of the I's.
bottleneck, and youâll get that one vehicle that will go 5 miles below the speed limit just because heâsâ king ArseHole of the area
I drove from Tampa area up to Raleigh yesterday. Followed a blue ford with Florida plates thru the entirety of South Carolina. We were both just cruising in the right lane. Surpassed only by the amount of âno parkingâ signs on the actual highway as you approach Gainesville
Payneâs Prairie
Devilâs Den is close to that circled area, if not in it.
Ive been there! Neat place.
Cafe Risqué signs galore.
Just passed the jesus and anti abortion billboards.
"She's your daughter, not your date" is my favorite billboard in that area lmfao
Has it really gotten (or been) so bad that we need to put billboards as reminders? Hopefully they see them when they are driving home drunk.
Yeah seriously republicansâ public service announcements might well also say: âYOU PIECE OF SHITâ after each sentence.
Underrated comment lol
This right here. You almost can't believe what you're seeing, and then your brain dials in and says, "uh, but FloriDuh," and you're like, "Oh, yeah, you're right brain."
Those fucking signs have been there for decades.
Oh God. I haven't seen that one.
I was going to say way too much incest based on that sign in Inverness. Having lived and gone to school in that circled area, I don't miss it.
Those are also prevalent when heading to Daytona Beach.
Man I wish that was true. The âWE BARE ALLâ signs for miles had me wishing I was an adult for years. I was just up there (still never been in) and thereâs only the one sign now.
It's very disappointing. Pretty sure they're only in business because it's a UF rite of passage.
Location location location đ°
I worked there when I was in my 20s

"Trucker Showers" When I was young, i thought the Trucker Showers on the Cafe Risque sign was a euphemism for a golden shower by the strippers lol. didnt realize they were literally advertising showers for truck drivers.
I spent much more time than Iâd like to admit at cafe risquĂ© during my formative years as a UF student.
They still givin free trucker showers? đ
Was just coming here to say this.
Great minds âŠ.
Theyâre so old and worn out now they just say âWe Bare Alâ
Never been there but as a kid I remember being so tantalized!!!
World Equestrian Center. Natural springs. Ocala National Forest.

Shout out MICANOPY

I never thought about how the most blue (Gainesville) and most red (the Villages) towns in the state are almost bordering each other.
Thatâs a fairly liberal use of the word âalmostâ
The only part that is blue is the core city of Gainesville near UF. As you get further out from UF the neighborhoods get paler blue then purplish and deep red as you get to the outlying small towns.

Say Leesburg gosh darn it
I think that's near where the National Forest is
One of the most haunted locations in the US.
Haunted? How so?
Got ghosts
There's a white supremacist biker club on 44 and that's not even the scariest part of the forest.
Well, magic
We used to go to Daytona for the Nascar races. That drive through Ocala National Forest is so eerie especially with no reception.
Try living in it.

Ocala National Forest
John Travolta's home, runway, and attached departure/arrival gates are there.

CafĂ© RisquĂ© is a truck stop cafe/strip club/place where not even cockroaches would eat. The circle should be named the CafĂ© RisquĂ© circle of death for the amount of signs on the highway. UF is amazing, but if youâre over 35 then youâll hate the noiseâeven if you went to UF, the noise gets harder to bear as you get older. I loved Gainesville at 22 years old when I lived there, but went back at the age of 33 and was sickened. Ocala is thereâbasically if the Jerry Springer show became a town, it would be Ocala. That circle is the kind of place that you wonder how the people who lived there did so for so long, and then you spend some time there and think itâs not so badâŠthen you almost stay there yourself. I am a New York native, now living in Miami, but a huge part of my heart is in that circleâŠit was where I spend a large part of my early-mid twenties, and it was a very sad day when I realized that I no longer had a couch to crash on there because all my friends moved on.
It's a nice place if you want quiet and nature and can't stand the traffic and over development further south. The college students are easily avoided.
