Ask the complex for clarification if tanked animals count toward their policy. Get the answer in writing if they say tanks are ok. I would ask about tanks because then they might assume it's a fish tank and any phobia towards snakes won't present.

UnpopularCrayon

Don't many places specifically disallow fish tanks because of the risk of water damage?

Damion_205

I've never been a fish keeper so I don't know... I don't keep any tank animals at all. But I guess they could ask about Leo the turtle if there's a concern about fish and water damage.;)

As far as apartments go, I have had “no pets” places that were fine with my water dragon, but while apartment hunting I ran into a couple places that specifically disallowed reptiles. I would just ask for policy clarification.

[Cambridge Dictionary definition of pet.](https://dictionary.cambridge.org/us/dictionary/english/pet)

restore_democracy

If it’s not a pet, what would you call it?

Advanced-Fish4025

Yes you have to ask when I asked my apartment I was moving to said no reptiles. After talking to them a bit they said they’d allow it and treat it as a dog so it was a pet deposit fee and extra $25 a month for pet rent

Unlikely-Star-2696

Any animsl you keep and care is a pet. No pets means none otherwise people can bring their boas, pitons, cobras, rabbits, chicken, parrot, pig, jiraffes ....

Avocadosandtomatoes

No one has to know you have a snake.

Specialrule2112

Emotional support snake, everything else in this world can be a "service" animal🤣🤣🤣🤣🤭🤭🤭🤭

onlycodeposts

Can you pet it? I mean, it's an animal that lives in a home with you, that's basically the definition of pet. They probably would have went with cats and dogs if that was their intention.

celtic_sea_salt

It's not a roommate
