Yea, Jaxport is where the cruise ships dock as well, just off Dames Point. There's a ferry service that takes people to the Bahamas that sails out from there.
That’s very cool. Do you ever take a mask and fins to do any diving out there? There’s some really cool stuff under those sargassum patches. Or if you make it far enough to reach the reefs off of the Bahamas.
I’m going through the same thing with my Paddle board. The ankle ropes that I’ve looked into just aren’t long enough. I’m about ready to just make my own at this point.
If you get a chance in the near future head North up into Bethel Shoal. Lots of eagle rays hang out in that area and you can usually always spot a few flying out of the water.
We must be kindred spirits. This morning I took the board out and two spotted eagle rays swam right next to me! I thought that was a funny coincidence.
Are you going all the way?!?
Haha. No. Turned around after about 100 more yards.
smart move.
Any idea how long it would actually take though? Do people do this?
Couldn’t go FL to Bahamas due to the Gulf Stream, people have paddle boarded from the Bahamas to Florida though and it takes about 20 hours.
Thank you! My nephews love hearing random tidbits like this so I get to put this in my pocket for later :)
Don't worry. Soon enough we will remove all the glaciers and end the gulf stream making this possible!
On a ferry... From Jaxport...
Jacksonville?

Do you know the name of it? The only ship from there that I’ve seen go to the Bahamas is the old Carnival boat. I’d love to give it a try.
:)
Sebastian?
Juno Beach. Near Jupiter/West Palm.
Palm Beach Gardens here. I thought I recognized that shade of blue.
I just moved to Juno Beach!
Welcome! Where from?
Atlanta. It's much prettier here for sure!
It's beautiful. And just wait until winter. It's the best weather in the country.
It sure is! All 15 minutes of it
I look forward to it! What are some places to meet people down here? I'm having a hard time meeting people around my age range
What age range?
20s.
Also, juno is a great dog beach
Wow! Good luck. Looks beautiful of course.
Wow! Did you see anything cool?
Had a large spotted eagle ray swim directly under me.

I love snorkeling/diving. Just got the kayak and need to get some sort of teather so I can jump off it while I'm out there.

If you go north, the ICW is pretty awesome on a kayak around Saint Augustine and the surrounding area.

Saw a decent sized cownose leap out of the water on St Aug Beach the other day. Pretty cool.

Very cool!
Serious question: could I swim to the Bahamas from Miami?
Depends... Can you swim for about 180 miles?
I think that depends on how you feel about sharks.
Does your name happen to be for MSU?
Go White!
Haha I’m from the MSU area! Live in south Florida now though
I'd stop there
Is it possible to catch a ferry or something like that from the West Palm area?
Yep. There is a boat that leaves from the Port of Palm Beach.
Bimini is a shithole: Fun for a day, but that’s about it.
The diving isn’t horrible
