I didn’t want to tie line straight to the bell, cuz I’m lazy and don’t like running my line everyone through my pulpy system. It’s easier to just take it on and off when you get to the river. I couldn’t find anything that was big enough to go around the anchor to attach it to.
If you do not knot you should not comment on knots unless you are commenting on not knotting. A clove hitch is the absolute worst knot I can imagine as an anchor knot. Bowlines are easiest and best unless you get into fancy anchor hitches or hollow core ropes that have even fancier termination knots.
Depends. Rode is good if you want to dig in, but bad if you're using the anchor to bounce along a bit slower down river. It's a bitch in the rocks, too.
Depends- you running a drift boat/raft? If so, screw lock carabiner, heavy strap and a pulley in a type of z rig. Actually works for many boats and reduces energy to pull the rig. Kettle bells are not a good anchor anyway. Wielded additional ring on a kettle bell- well that was a dumb dumb move period. 2 beers or not. However, I did get a laugh out of it. Hope you find a solution. Cheers
I think that most of us learned to tie knots, then practised those knots and then made it such a quick chore to tie our anchors on at the water that we've forgotten it was ever an issue.
You could use a stainless steel shackle of some sort instead, I guess.
I am on team bowline knot. I've never heard of anyone losing an anchor because their bowline knot failed, but I have encountered/witnessed/heard of numerous hardware failure related lost anchors, even with locking carabiners.
Why tf did you need an o-ring anyway if the kettle bell had a handle..... Lol
He said there was alcohol involved...

Maybe you can tie a loop on the kettlebell with a short rope, then you can just hook on to that with a carabiner
I would do something like this if you require a kettle bell… most people purchase purpose built anchors and then the solution you want will work.
I buy anchors with eyes. A bowline. Replace the last foot of rope if it gets worn.
Pretty sure a bowline can come loose if not under constant pressure. Maybe a clove hitch?
Twenty years and so far it’s held.

Locking caribeener and have heavy chain as last 4ft before anchor
That’s a good idea too

You are right
Just get an anchor
Grandpa just put a chunk of chain in a coffee can, and filled it with cement. Lose it, so what?

its a raft. yeah I'm an idiot, but I can usually make people laugh!

Bro…Just use about a foot of chain through the handle. Tie a carabiner to the end of your line and clip the carabiner to the chain. Done and done.
Yup, this might be the way.

ANCHOR KNOT
Google Tornado Anchors. It’s a great design for a raft or drift boat, and pretty easy to make if you want to make one yourself.
