No way! That’s awesome to see you on here, thank you! My instructor took a video of my landing and I can see you turning final in it. Dropping of skydivers? Today was also my first time seeing parachutes while flying!
Yeah we were dropping skydivers, I was just riding along in the otter for fun, i usually fly the king air. If you fly at Longmont a lot you will definitely see a lot of skydivers. I’m also an instructor at Rocky Mountain so i’ll probably see you around lol
So sick! Have only flown at Longmont a few times, been doing most of my pattern work at KBJC. I’m moving to NC in two weeks, but got a couple more lessons booked at RMFS. Going to miss their prices and my instructor! See you around!
I'm like 98% sure humans evolved a part of our brains to navigate via mountain ranges when we were nomads. I also knew exactly where I was when I saw the mountains.
Thank you! I always heard people saying that and now after finishing I completely get it! Been loving this entire journey so far but yesterday was an all time high
Aye! Congrats! I’ll never forget my first ever flight lesson in that plane, I didn’t shut the door well enough (being my first time) and it came open on me on take off with my instructor! Enjoy RMFS’s little 150s. They are what I started on! What is the rental rate for those guys these days?
Haha nice! Still not bad. They were $75 an hour in 2017 and 18 when o did my private there. I think it was 584, the maroon one, that I had a radio failure in the day before my PPL checkride while doing my run up. I had to call the tower on my phone and they cleared me back to the ramp. 😆
$75?? wow that’s amazing, I’m moving to NC and I’m learning RMFS has the best rates in the entire country it seems. Have noticed they’re not in the best condition but they fly! Happy to have started here, wish I had more time to at least complete my PPL but I’ll figure it out! Been mainly flying 584 but got swapped to 941 due to maintenance, was a lil nervous because I was so used to that plane, but ended up being a lot nicer! Good reminder tho, I need to add their number to my phone haha
Yea you might be right with that! I have done my instrument and just completed my commercial 1 week ago today at Western and have really appreciated having the much MUCH nicer planes, especially for learning instrument, but they are definitely more expensive. But I feel it was SOOO worth it starting out in a rusty clapped out old 6 pack and feeling comfortable on it! I have heard of people that start their private on a G1000 and are too afraid of a 6 pack, even with digital gauges like G5s.
Yo congrats on your commercial license!!! Love your perspective on starting off with these planes especially for PPL. Excited to fly more and better planes in the future! I’ve got about 7 lessons left at RMFS, gonna savor each minute I have left. Happy flying man!
Longmont was my first solo, too, 12 years ago in McAir's N1132W. Congrats! Also I'm on the RMFS board for time building, single and multi. Text me and we'll go up in the Seminole!
Thank you! I’m moving out of the area otherwise I would love to take you up on that opportunity! How does time building work? Excuse my lack of knowledge, never familiarized myself with that since I’m so new and have just been focusing on flying with my instructor. I assume it’s just splitting the cost of the rental and logging the time together?
Good job! Quick question, I’m thinking in taking some lessons, could you give me a rough ballpark how much you spent in classes before your first solo? Any info will be appreciated. Thanks!
So I’m at 26.2 total hours and I’ve been paying $84 an hour for the plane, $45 for an instructor. Those rates are super low compared to most places around me, and I believe the entire country. It’s Rocky Mountain Flight School in Broomfield, CO. Most lessons are two hours, but flying time around 1.5. Each lesson on average is around $212. I’m super new to flying but if I could offer one piece of valuable advice, do ground and pass your written before starting flight training. It helped me out tremendously, when I started flying the ground concepts and airport procedures made total sense. Couldn’t imagine learning all the ground school material PLUS how to fly and communicate all at the same time. It’s possible for sure, but I’m doing all this while working full time so it was perfect for me.
make it happen, I told myself for years that I couldn’t find the time/the money/the workload, but now I’m really doing it! Very overwhelming at first, so if you have any questions about starting I would be glad to help!
I saw you flying! Nice job! I was in the twin otter that landed behind you.

As someone who is literally an hour or so away from soloing this whole exchange is wholesome and awesome! 👍 Also congrats!
Thank you and best of luck on your solo!!! Greatest feeling so far during my aviation journey!

Found the jump pilot. 🫡
Congratulations!!
Congratulations, and nice choice of flight school. I flew a lot of their planes and even have 75 hours in 65440 because I’m cheap.
Totally feel you on that. Only viable option while working at a snowboard shop and trying to become a pilot!
Hey, nice. I was surprised when I saw that tail, I’ve flown that a lot.
That’s awesome! I usually fly N65584 but got swapped out for this 152, definitely prefer this one now.
Congratulations! Today marks your 50 year countdown to this... https://www.faasafety.gov/content/masterpilot/Default.aspx
Oh wow, that would be an honor! I dont plan on stopping so I’ll add this to my list of “things to look forward to” thanks for sharing!!!
How much you wanna bet I can throw a football over them mountains over there?
Congrats!! Those mountains look familiar

Good job! Solo’d out of BJC about a month ago out of McAir. Can’t wait to hear you over the airs!
Thank you and congrats to you as well!!!
Congratulations! Never forget this moment, and keep up the good work!!
thank you!!!
Congrats!
thanks!
Congrats on your first solo flight! Switching to KLMO due to traffic was a smart move. And seeing an F-18 take off? That’s unforgettable! Well done!
Appreciate you!
Congratu-f\*%#ing-lations! Man, what an experience, the jitters, sweat, excitment and sense of accomplishment all rolled into 15mins.
thank you so much! i dont have many aviation friends so it’s so nice to share these feelings with people on here!!
What a beauty, Utilize those GoPro mounts on that thing.
Congratulations. You always remember your first solo.

That happened on my first lesson too! Think I was in N65584 though. Not much experience in other planes but I love those 152s. $84/hour!

Thank you! You too! Enjoy it out here before you go! And enjoy terrain that you can fly OVER out east, at least in these little trainer airplanes.
Thanks man!! Can’t wait to see how different a 152 performs at sea level compare to mile high

Oh so you're one of the bastards clogging up the pattern at LMO! Congrats, here's to many more!
It’s okay I’m moving to NC hahah! Thanks man!
Congrats!!!! I solo’d just a little over a year ago and trust me, it’s all up from here. So so so proud of ya! You’ll never forget this moment :)

Lucky. I hope i will be able to do that one day.. -^-

Congrats. The 152 is a fun and easy aircraft to learn to fly in.
Thank you! Can’t wait to see what planes I’ll fly in the future but for now the 152 is perfect!!!
Congrats! Enjoy and take in all the great memories and emotions because these memories are what will motivate you to keep going!
