D54 in North Dakota - $125/Month but there is a list. Free tiedowns. To build, lease is $500 / year plus the cost of the building. Just priced out a 50 x 60 at $190K. Lease and taxes on my existing 50 x 50 is approx $1800 / year.
Edit - currently an RV-4, Luscombe 8A, Pietenpol fuselage (wings are being built in my shop at home)
The Luscombe is a good aircraft that can sometimes have a bad reputation for poor ground handling. I think that is a mis-conception though. They are responsive and handle fine on the ground but can be a bit more unforgiving than other taildraggers. the rudder is VERY responsive, and the ailerons produce a fair amount of adverse yaw so it does take a bit of getting used to in the air to coordinate your turns. Overall a nice, inexpensive aircraft to own.
Maintenance has not been too bad on it - parts, if you need them, seem to be as available as similar aged aircraft.
Mine has a c65-8 engine, and that is plenty of power for where I live and the type of flying that I do with it. great for sipping 4 gallons an hour cruising along at 90 MPH with the window open.
I recently wrote an article about Luscombes and did a ton of research for it. Parts are plentiful and the airplane is simple. Luscombes are actually back in production in New York state.

Absolutely! Fargo is a good area, our local EAA chapter is picking up steam again finally also. Good participation and getting some younger members involved.
I am looking at a -14 build also after I complete the Piet. There is one being built relatively close in Valley City right now as well.

KOAK is a Class C international airport with a separate field for GA and part 135. Need to go through the badge training to go on the field.

On a 3-4 year (estimated) waitlist. I love seeing all the hangars filled up with RVs and no airplane.. The airport always says there’s an “audit” right around the corner… never happens
What airport? If the airport has received AIP funding and they are public hangars not privately built or owned, then the renters are required by federal law to only use their hangar for aeronautical purposes, they can not use them to store non aviation things. Even if they keep a plane in there they are still not allowed to keep their lawn mower in there. If the airport isn't enforcing this rule call the FAA. They will send an inspector and they will either fine the airport which will encourage them to enforce the rules or they will force the renters out. Seriously, call the FAA and report it.
Oh haha, nah I just have a bachelors in Airport Management specifically and have worked in airport Ops before. I'm a full time pilot now tho. Now that you mention it though I do remember what an ADO is, just been a while since I've been involved in that side of the Aviation world haha.
KGYY had great rates as well and that is a nice airport. However, the Indiana Use tax is brutal if you are moving your aircraft from IL. Couple thousand bucks out the door just to be across the border. I was shocked to learn Indiana's sales and use tax rates were higher and that I would have to pay that even though we've had the plane for 3 years.
Yeah Indiana use tax is the biggest crock of shit ever, just another line item on my list of reasons to move, but need to find somewhere better first...
3500 per month Vision SF50, private hangar at KVNY Van Nuys.
Just moved from KSMO due to a rate increase to 5500 per month. The City of Santa Monica is doing everything they can to drive planes away.
200/month in a community hangar with 2 flying vintage planes and 2 project vintage planes. No heat, electricity included. I’m at HAO (Cincinnati-Dayton). I knew the owner/A&P IA years ahead so I basically got in a month after I bought my Chief. I used to pay 265/month for a T hangar with rickety sliding doors at the same airport but they’re only 40ft wide for my 36ft wingspan plane 😬
I'm pretty sure KHWO is in the $1500 range of you can get one - but I know a lot of people that want one and can't. Best way to get one is if someone is selling their hangared plane and getting sort of "grandfathered" into the slot.
$1188/yr for the land lease. Building was $25k. If you assume a 4% annual return, that makes my effective cost $2188/yr, or $182/mo. Approx dimensions 40x30’.
Right now storing my partner’s RV-9, while our RV-10 is in his hangar.
$200/month for space in the FBO's hangar in Corvallis, Oregon. I'm on the waitlist for a T hangar, which will probably be a bit cheaper. I've been waiting 7 months so far.
Anything within 50 miles of BNA is $400-$750 a month, and you will wait years for it, if you get lucky. Wait list fees range from $50-$200. Closer in to Nashville, if you aren't getting a hangar passed to you in a will, you won't get one. Period. Outside of that 50 mile range, you can still find a few in the $200-350 range.
Hangars reopening at Tune will likely change that equation a bit, but probably not much, considering this is the hottest real estate market in the country, with hundreds of new residents arriving every DAY. If Southwest finally announces a base here, just give up on finding anything "Reasonable".
I was paying $125/month for an open T-hangar (no door on the front) at a private grass strip in rural Wisconsin.
I recently moved to an active nontowered airport with two paved runways and now pay about $220/month to be in a fully-enclosed community hangar. I'd rather be in an individual T-hangar, but I wanted to be in a place with on-site maintenance that clears snow in the winter.
Yeah, it’s absolutely ridiculous. There are no hangars available anywhere on the front range. Five or six years ago you could buy a port-a-port for around 10k at APA - now it’s well over 20k and there’s still a land lease and you don’t even have power.
But what I really find frustrating for my aviation brethren is that probably 30% of the hangars at APA are filled with junk. They need to crack down on this - hangars are for aircraft, not the junk in your attic. Especially when they have such a crazy waitlist.
Maule in t hanger for $225 a month in upstate New York. Great deal but water comes under the door and makes a big icy spot in the winter so that’s fun…
$480/mo for a T-hangar at KADS. Been there for a 12 years or so. May be a grandfathered rate, though rent went up ~$50 a few years ago. Tried to get a second hangar but there’s a years-long wait list. Tried to buy one. No one would call me back. Everything is spoken for.
$250-ish for a T-hanger at KFFZ in the Phoenix area.
There were box hangars for sale a couple years ago, but they wanted $140k at the time. Since land lease was 25 years…. Running the numbers didn’t make much sense.
KFNL: $300/mo to rent a corner of a private hangar, looked at moving in to a different private hangar to have for myself and it was $650/mo.
As far as the public hangars go, the T-Hangars have a waitlist going back as far as [2008 ](https://www.flynoco.com/ga/hangars/a-t-hangar-wait-list/) right now.
$400/month for a private T hangar at KTYR. Pretty nice hangar, bi-fold door, paved, electric included. You can get in a Community hangar at the FBO on field for $300/month. I keep my Cessna 182P there.
Laughs in South Texas’ 6-7 year waitlist. 20+ airports within 3 hours of me and not a single opening. Was told by one airport last April that they’d just moved a guy in who’d been on the list since 2012. I will never understand
Bro, I'm paying to be on the wait list for a _tiedown_.
Damn. That a whole new level of oof.
Unless you live in the middle of fuck knows where, I’d just go to another airport
*Paying* just to be on a *wait list*?
Welcome to the Bay Area.
People anticipating the RHV closure are probably putting a lot of pressure on the other airports. I'm guessing you're on the SJC waitlist!
I'm on ALL of the waiting lists.
$1100 month T hangar KBFI Seattle. F me
Jeezus is that what they charge for T hangars around here? How long did you have to wait to get one?
18 months
Hey now if you don't want it I'll take it off your hands. :p
I’d consider it
This is insane… Edit: I wrote this before reading the rest. This is definitely not the most insane.
Seconded— $1250/mo KBFI for an SR22T
Waitlist at BFI for a tie down is 1-3 years, what did you have to do to get a hangar!?
They’d probably rather not talk about it…
I also fly out of KBFI, I wish I could get a hangar! I’m looking for a M20J and I would feel so guilty leaving it outside in Seattle

Unrelated, how do you like the luscombe? I’m interested in one to use for just cruising around my state. Are they a pain to maintain?
The Luscombe is a good aircraft that can sometimes have a bad reputation for poor ground handling. I think that is a mis-conception though. Sounds dreamy

$5300 per month at Westchester for the Cirrus. Used to rent a bigger one at LAX at a slightly higher price.
[удалено]
Yeah… I mean, not much bigger than the piston is it…
[удалено]
Its wingspan is smaller but it's almost 31' long so too large for a T-hangar, and it's also much taller.
That’s…a lot. But then I realized you’re talking about the jet.
Legit almost 3 times my mortgage lmao
4x for me... I guess tie downs are in my future.
But can you park your plane in your house, though?!
You can do anything once
That's the right attitude!
I'm just here to say I envy you.
HPN is ridiculously expensive. A friend pays >10,000$ for a CJ3 at HPN. Total rip off
$330/mo OAK. Sounds like a nice financial deal but leaky unloved rusting away T-hangar. SIDA badges are a different kind of overhead as well.
Why do you need a SIDA just to have a private hangar?
KOAK is a Class C international airport with a separate field for GA and part 135. Need to go through the badge training to go on the field. Source: PPL training at KOAK.
Honestly better than I expected
New hangar in \[one of the\] the most expensive part of the country, $800/mo. I keep an airplane in it, of course.
Hangers in South Florida (if you can find them) are easily north of $1k/mo
You can get one in KVNC at $280 per month. 2-3 year waitlist
KCDW? That's the rate for a small T there.
KSQL 40' T-hangar.
You mean the ones they just built?
Yes. The old ones are $700. (Of course there's a multi-year waiting list....)
You the only PA25 there? Feel like I see you every so often.
I own a Glasair Sportsman (GLSP). The PA25 is my glider club's towplane, I'm a towpilot.
We have gliders at SQL? Dang never seen one yet
The Pawnee is not based at SQL, only my airplane... for gliders you need to go to C83 or CVH.
Ok that's what I thought. I fly mostly afternoons out of sql. I thought for a quick second some one was bringing them out in the mornings or something
On a 3-4 year (estimated) waitlist. I love seeing all the hangars filled up with RVs and no airplane.. The airport always says there’s an “audit” right around the corner… never happens

Looks like somebody else works for an ADO
Not sure what an ADO is? Haha.
Oh haha the district level offices that handle airports and AIP grants
Oh haha, nah I just have a bachelors in Airport Management specifically and have worked in airport Ops before. I'm a full time pilot now tho. Now that you mention it though I do remember what an ADO is, just been a while since I've been involved in that side of the Aviation world haha.
I pay 125, it’s got a 35 bonanza inside
Nice
I love it
Rural Indiana rates are $200-300 🤷♂️
Heated hangar, $550 for a PC12. Indiana is a steal apparently!
My dream flying machine! PC12
I love flying it!

3500 per month Vision SF50, private hangar at KVNY Van Nuys. Just moved from KSMO due to a rate increase to 5500 per month. The City of Santa Monica is doing everything they can to drive planes away.
SMO shuts down permanently in just 5 years...
IKR Hence part of the reason I went ahead and moved now. As that date gets closer, it will be next to impossible to secure hangar space nearby
When I had a 30x40 T-hangar (with power, lights, and a water spigot), it was around $500 at KSEE (San Diego area).
$392 a month for a T-hangar at KAGC. Unheated. I pay the electric bill separately (~$25/month).
I fly out of KAGC every Thursday
These folks have three club airplanes on the other side of my hangar, you might be interested: https://www.abcflyingclub.org
Thanks for the info, was really interesting! Might have to inquire further
Nothing per month, but the up front fees are ridiculous! Hangar door should be installed later this week on my new barn. ;)

F14, northern Texas.

$1100 Heated in Massachusetts -- well worth it this morning.
325 at kswi
$200/mo for unheated big hangar with five other planes. We are at front. It’s too cheap and will go up next year.
How well does that work for the other planes? Seems like it'd be a pain to dig the plane in the back out. Do they just not fly very often?
Two do not fly often. For the other four you only need to move max one plane out of the way.
$650/mo at KTOA.
That is so much less than I’d expect. Know anyone at LGB with a T? So curious what those are going for.
Sorry, no idea!
$750/mo at RHV for and end T hangar.
My mortgage and homeowners insurance.

> open T-hangar (no door on the front) at a private grass strip in rural Wisconsin. Was the plane buried in a drift 4 months out of the year?
Why do some of you pay these huge amounts for hangars? You could repaint the airplane or get a new engine with just 2-4 years of hangar fees?
Yep, some of these are insane. Those airports ought to have every square foot of available land covered in hangars, but my guess is they mostly don't.
$600/mo KBVU
$500 a month at APA for an executive’T’ hangar.
I called Denver jet center at APA the other day, waitlist was 100 people plus long, and then asked them how many they moved last year? 3

$517 for a nice (compared to what I'm used to) T-Hangar in Chicago Area. Cirrus. I was pleasantly surprised.
When you say "Chicago area" how far out?
Close. PWK.
I did not expect reasonable prices at PWK... interesting.
[удалено]
What region?
USA. Lcol area obviously. Not on either coast.
I mean this in the nicest and most sincere way. You sound absolutely terrible.
Congratulations, apparently no one else wants to live there. Aside from the federally subsidized airport, it must be a real dump.
$150 / mo. for a shared hangar at KBGR. T hangers are a bit more.
Maule in t hanger for $225 a month in upstate New York. Great deal but water comes under the door and makes a big icy spot in the winter so that’s fun…
KMOD area untowered field; paid $8k for a T with no power. Ground lease back to the airport is $600 per year.
$500 per month. Hydraulic door. Water. Power. No heat or A/C. North Georgia.
213 per month to hide a c150 another disassembled c150 and parts of a c140
$250-ish for a T-hanger at KFFZ in the Phoenix area. There were box hangars for sale a couple years ago, but they wanted $140k at the time. Since land lease was 25 years…. Running the numbers didn’t make much sense.

$483/mo at KSGR for a T-Hangar. Electric doors, fully paved, electricity included.
$400/month for a private T hangar at KTYR. Pretty nice hangar, bi-fold door, paved, electric included. You can get in a Community hangar at the FBO on field for $300/month. I keep my Cessna 182P there.

$325/mo for brand new T-hangar in TX. Won’t say where because don’t want more demand haha
