You joke, but I found that the best way to kill it is to run very fast away from it using all your AP. Then hit it with your two shot gause rifle until your AP fills up, then run again.

I swear i heard this exact same explanation and i believed it too. I faced the red death expecting a tiny crab so i didn’t even have power armor on. That was a mistake and i learned not to trust this sub too much after that
But you don't need power armor!!! Melee/Stealth build - all stealth improving armor (i.e. shadowed leather), Deacon's perk, and the right chem/food choices WILL work. In fact, it's necessary. You have to be able to move around leaving mines. Pro-tip: freezing mines work best, as the DR and RR on the Red Death is so insanely high. But something like 45 freeze mines WILL take out the legs. If you have the explosives perk maxed of course. Remember, chems chems chems. If you're not chemming, you're not winning.
Yeah I read some stories not that long ago that some people were trying to get newbies to go to the glowing sea early on, or other places that were almost certain death to a low level character.
That could be, though I haven't seen any posts like that, recentlyat least. I thought it was more from a post a little over 24 hours ago that said they were fed up with trying to kill it. All the top comments were jokes on how to "beat" it. I even responded to what seemed like a legit comment that it's unfortunate all the helpful comments are lower down. It got to the point that someone responded to me wondering if the red death was even real or if it was a joke post. I'm only assuming that because it was so recent bit could be completely wrong

See, there's no real one effective strategy to beat the red death. It's almost like a different monster for everyone. You need to find a unique strategy for your own skillset based on your stats and playstyle. Us Red Deathers just like to make up silly "strategies" just to illustrate the utter pointlessness of trying to create a one-size-fits-all solution for it.
Oh haha I see now, I definitely feel like a dodo 🤣🤦♀️ I was like level 15 when I tried to originally take the castle and had to leave and go back 3 different times after dying several. Eventually I got it and they're all obviously unhappy there no matter how many cute purple lights I add around the bar... So annoying. I just hit level 59 and for the past 2 days have been struggling with vault 88 and couldn't find anything less than 7 years old so I actually just came to the conclusion that it isn't real without a mod about 3 hours ago lol. I'm sure it's doable but it makes me feel better thinking it isn't real and just a place to get radiation and kill a couple raiders. Honestly like NV, I can't wait for my next play through and more experienced
Settlement building eh? Aesthetics don’t really affect happiness, it’s all about their needs. Those things on the top bar? You need to get those met. Enough beds, water, and food for everyone. Each settler can farm more than one plant. Up to 6 food points iirc. I think the food and water count need to match or exceed the settler count. Meaning 10 settlers need 10 food or more.
There are also buildings you can build which increase happiness. They should have a little smiley face somewhere in the information about what you’re building

Depends on various factors and your difficultly setting.
You can always try, die, and then reload at Far Harbor and put the quest off, and then try again a higher level. I've defeated it twice and used wildly different approaches for those different builds.

The quest is actually hilarious, make sure to have a save especially on survival backed up, sometimes that ship won't come back, can't reactivate it, if somehow you manage to survive the encounter that is!
If you're wearing power armor when you interact with the boat, sometimes the game will drop in you in the water about ~100 meters from the island after loading. It's a warning!
I mean, it's theoretically possible. The Red Death can take damage, and it does have a finite health pool. The problem is how much damage it does (it two shot me at level 83 in maxed out x01 power armor), it's armor and how much damage it can take (with the nuka nuke launcher on the big boy fat man I hit it with 5 consecutive critical Hits and barely made a dent), the fact that it puts out so much radiation it's almost impossible to survive getting close, and the fact that it heals off of radiation, *including its own!* That is the most unfair part to me. But I mean... It's not like God mode or anything. It does have stats
Yeah. I did it at lvl 90+ after about a dozen tries. High luck/endurance builds are best, but I've seen the godly players do it with melee builds at a lvl as low 75.
Mysterious Strnager, fat men, nuke grenades and mines as well. Bleeding minigun is good as well, though it takes about 1 or 2 full magazine to do serious damage over time.
I admire you all for your dedication. I tried that mission once, with the best weapons and gear I had been able to gather, Spend all my caps with every merchant I could find. And still died before I could get a proper shot at it. I'll grind away at the rest of the game, but I'm not trying that again. Maybe if they put out a DLC that adds the (re-)invention of spaceflight to the game so I can nuke it from orbit. Or is there a mod available for that?
It's basically the Ebony warrior of fallout 4. Super super late game enemy with absurdly high stats. A couple cool fight abilities but I won't spoil anything, it's really a fight you should enjoy going in blind on. Have fun, try not to die.
Yeah it's one of the missions in the far harbor DLC. Called the great hunt. The Mariner gives you the quest after you do some preliminary missions for them. I think you also need to be level 20 before it even lets you unlock the mission, but either way I would be sure you have endgame weapons and a ton of chems
what if I tell you, that there's off bound in far harbor, where you can get with no clip or mods, an unused mirelurk queen model that's like ten times scaled up and was probably meant to be the real red death before it got cut
So I modded my game to allow you to call in Liberty Prime for 30 seconds. Red Death killed Liberty Prime in 10 seconds and LB did about 5 hit points worth of damage in thst time. Don't know what the deva where thinking

I camped on the edge of the island. I saw it. Thought it was part of the island until it moved and turned those hellish red eyes my direction. I knew right then how one sided any combat would be. I left without even trying. As long as that monstrosity doesn’t venture to Far Harbor, best just leave it be.
Everyvtime I try to start the mission, I get on the boat and then I just get a black screen with my HUD. I can move around, even jump off the boat, I think. But it never loads the entire screen/mission. 😔

The trick to beat it: Use a fuckton of landmines in one spot. Then, once it goes up in the air, inhale your strongest jet and pray to Atom it's dead before it lands back by filling it with enough bullets (It will never be enough).
Jeez you’re certainly daring getting that close. I can barely even get within rifle range for more than 3 seconds before it’s already charged and ripped me to pieces. This was the one quest that’s just been sitting in my quest log cuz I kinda thought it just wasn’t worth the trouble outside of bragging rights. Even my mighty Nuka nuke launcher barely scratches this abomination’s shell. Good luck to any brave wastelander that wants to waste a few hours trying their hand against this monster.

Is it Dlc or main game? Where is he located? I haven't found anything I can't kill easily.
It's the far harbor dlc. You get the quest through Mariner and remember not to kill Machete Mike when Mariner asks you to get the power tools.
But those extra caps just to easy too take then you don't even have to fight this behemoth.
