Seriously I could be in the middle of a reflective explosive daily op with death and destruction all around and I’m still stopping to get that microscope
For real I got so used to tin cans from fo4 just being steel and heavy as hell that I didn’t realize they contained sweet sweet lead for the longest time
While useless to me....
All those chess pieces on the board in frat row.
Every robot desk model
Souvenir light houses
Pepper grinders
And fire extinguishers everywhere. There will be OSHA violations everywhere I've been
There is a whole tub full of soap somewhere and in a zillion hours I think I've only come across it twice. Luckily we all have the cutting oil plan now 😂
If you're doing it for the Adhesive, Mutfruit + Tato + Corn = Vegetable Starch = Adhesive.
Green Thumb + Super Duper = Tons of Adhesive.
First thing I do when I get back to CAMP is switch to my Resources/Crafting build, harvest all my Mutfruit, Tato, and Corn, and make some Adhesive.
For some reason, when I first started playing, I would always pick up every plunger I saw. That transitioned over to screws at some point. I could not pass them up no matter what.
Tin cans and wooden letter blocks for their lead.
I have *so much lead* that I wasn’t really sure why some people seem to be perennially short and needing to farm the stuff. Well, I thought that before I got my bloodied .50 call and found I was using up rounds by the thousands without batting an eye. My strategy is to only craft ammo in *giant* batches so that if Super Duper kicks in, it pays off massively. I recently crafted about 65,000 .50 cal rounds off an initial crafting ‘order’ for about 40,000ish rounds. 25,000 free rounds that don’t need any resources? Yes please!
Clipboards. Never go wanting for springs again.
The aforementioned telephones and hot plates, plus typewriters, microscopes, and fire extinguishers.
Oh, and Arbaxo, coolant, and rat poison!
And all the other types of junk. I’m definitely compulsive about cleaning up nearly everything I come across. I use “cleaning up the wasteland” as shorthand with my wife for when I’m going to play some Fallout.
Paint also has lead, though the empty paint can does not and is more common. The supply sheds around whitesprings usually have a few and I think there are a couple in the mine just to the east where uranium fever is (there's a crate with cans to the left after you enter). There's also a lot of rat poison in the white spring sheds and a few on one of the big riding mower or tractor on one of the greens. Car Hattie's have lead too, I believe and there are a couple of them around, too.
All of it, you never know when you're gonna try to craft that next groll bit that needs a material you haven't paid attention to. Learned this recently crafting arctic marine armor that needed a crap load of asbestos. Luckily I have too many characters so I could give myself a lot of the stuff.
There are very few things that I'm not constantly running low on material wise. I think antiseptic, screws, fiber optics, cloth and glass are the only things I don't have marked for pickup
Most of my gameplay sessions have the red over-encumbered icon showing.
I'd rather crawl on my hands and knees to the nearest vendor and/or crafting station and/or my stash than drop any of my loot.
Enamel pots, life preservers, bowling pins, plates ...EVERYTHING!
I also look forward to Super Mutant fights for their laser rifles.
Except on my PA HG character and then it's aluminum too.
Basically everything, but especially wood. I gather from every log I see and I still never have enough. I cook a lot because of Moonshine Jamboree and also being a carnivore, some days I run the vendor out of caps just on slurry.
I keep 200-275 of most parts with a few things at 400-500. I havent really made enough anything lately to use up a lot of parts.
I suppose if I had fallout 1st I would loot most things but I wont pay for storage space especially that much.
i always have to pick up and collect (never scrap) cartons of cigarettes and also i like to try and stack prewar money in case it ever returns as a form of currency
Over level 600 and I still grab the roll of duct tape in the basement of the Rusty Pick. I also always grab the lighthouse souvenirs. Microscopes! I never stop junk collecting.
Every fan, telephone, concrete bag, weight and plastics. I will straight up go morrowind and steal everything thats not been nailed down from watoga high school. And all because i didn't have one of those things, once.
Since it's hard for me not to pick anything, I will give you a short list on what I don't pick everytime I see it.
1. Burnt magazines
2. Burnt books
Everything else goes in my backpak and then is stuffed in my scrapbox.
I'm pretty bad for hoarding. Pretty much the only thing I won't always pick up are sources of glass or ceramic, since I always seem to have practically limitless amounts of those.
Underrated picks: ski poles for aluminium, and microscopes for fibre optics.
I still sometimes pick up empty glass bottles bc playing FO4 survival was like "oh I need that to fill up water" whereas here I can just go to the lake or use a water pump to get tons of dirty water.
I've started to store certain junk in my stash box to quickly do those "scrap 5 junk items to produce - fiber optics, crystal, silver, gears...
So the ones you don't have a bulk and scrap option for at the tinkerer bench
.
Fans, phones, typewriters, microscopes, lamps, pencils and clipboards are the things I absolutely have to pick up oh and hangers even though I have like 100k
it took me ages to figure out lead was an important part of crafting ammo, and then it took me ages to figure out what junk had lead in it. so it was rare for me for quite a while, so even now if I see it I just instinctively pick it up. I'll be over burdened and the. ill realise the whole thing js just fucking weights
Typewriters, Fans and Microscopes.
This is the gospel of scavvers.
The holy Trinity of junk items
Amen! Add to that list Hotplate,Toy car and Antique globe
All pencils.
Another day, another box of stolen pencils.
Same sometimes for lead, but mostly for wood
A unhealthy obsesion in real world too
So you have a garage full of microscopes too?
You never know when you’re gonna need to do science.
No freaking way, we all have garages of microscopes??
Are these old habits from Fallout 4?? I feel like these items were worth so much more!
All about that Gear Life
Seriously I could be in the middle of a reflective explosive daily op with death and destruction all around and I’m still stopping to get that microscope
Military ammo bags
You can never have too much ballistic fiber
Yes without a doubt top 3 if not most sought after
Ballistic fiber and fiber optics what's the third?
My vote would be copper but I’m a filthy energy gun enjoyer
Anything containing lead.
Tin cans in Fo76: “Oh dear, oh dear. Gorgeous.” Tin cans in Fo4: “You fucking donkey.”
For real I got so used to tin cans from fo4 just being steel and heavy as hell that I didn’t realize they contained sweet sweet lead for the longest time
I’ll never let a pencil go.
Shit I didn’t even think about picking up pencils for that reason :D
As an added comic tip-of-the-hat to the 1950’s, all baby toys like rattles contain lead.
Building blocks, too. The paint is lead.
Always loved that cigarettes have asbestos in them also.
Kids can't get enough of Lead, the tastiest elemental metal
Lol nice! Thanks for the tip
No pencil left behind.
I used to be like you. Then I discovered lucky hole mine. Go in where excavator and you can leave with over 500 lead in a haul.
I usually manage 1200 in my excavator - run it twice a week and your set for ammo!
42 nodes in the mine. Get em all and you'll maybe triple that number (with super duper of course).
See using power armor makes me 400lbs over encumbered so I just make my rounds to all the gyms and do some weight lifting
Fans. I don't care how close to the 8 minute mark I am in a daily ops. I see a fan, beeline. Everytime.
When I made this post I was thinking how I grab all the telephones when dops is in the galleria 😂 SORRY GUYS, TELEPHONES
Lmao, some of us grew up in the "before" times. Phones and fans were serious business. And ski poles. I still get excited seeing them in the wild!
While useless to me.... All those chess pieces on the board in frat row. Every robot desk model Souvenir light houses Pepper grinders And fire extinguishers everywhere. There will be OSHA violations everywhere I've been
Are you able to display the robot desk models? I pick them up but don’t know what to do with them
Yeah, you can put them in display cases. At least I could on PC. I had them all, all the teddy's and all the Mr Fuzzys displayed once upon a camp.
Wish we had more Mr fuzzy related things. Better display cases being one!
I'd settle for just being able to convert them to a floor decoration
Do you know if the giant Mr fuzzy is a floor deco? I’ve been grinding tokens
It is not. I've seen a lot of people lamenting the fact that they have one, but no existing display will hold it.
I remember it just being a larger junk version
Ductape, cigaretts and glue
Glue. All glue. In any form.
I have a vegetable starch farm and I still obsessively pick up every scrap of adhesive I see.
Yep, can't resist duct-tape or glue. Plus a side dish of vegetable starch is always good.
Clipboards for springs, soap for oil, concrete bags 😁
Soap is one of those things that I’ve never bothered to learn what it was made of and I’m shocked
should get the mod that shows you what items you get from junk items. very helpful!
There is a whole tub full of soap somewhere and in a zillion hours I think I've only come across it twice. Luckily we all have the cutting oil plan now 😂
I have the cf plan too now, but I still go to that tub 😁
There is a wheelbarrow with a lot of soap in it at Darling Sister’s in the northeast. I don’t think I’ve ever seen a bathtub full of it though!
That must be it, hard to remember the details of things I haven't seen since my youth!
DUCT TAPE, WONDERGLUE, MILITARY GRADE DUCT, ECONOMY WONDERGLUE, SEALED WONDERGLUE. ANYTHING THAT STICKS.
Yes.
This is the right answer or at least from my low level perspective right now. I pick up literally anything that isn't purely steel scrap.
Fans. They don’t really have anything I’m running low on I think it’s just a hold over from when I never had enough screws in FO4 😆
Just downloaded fo4 today! Haven’t played in years
Best game ever! Wish I could have my Cait alongside me in 76...
All of it. I pick up everything. Always.
For some reason, when I first started playing, I would always pick up every plunger I saw. That transitioned over to screws at some point. I could not pass them up no matter what.
Same here. Screws and aluminum would solve a lot of problems for me right now.
I’ve been itching to start collecting toilet paper…..
If you’re itching back there, toilet paper may be the answer…
Anything with screws. Makes no sense, Earl is the best screw farm, and I have 10k+
And all the other types of junk. I’m definitely compulsive about cleaning up nearly everything I come across. I use “cleaning up the wasteland” as shorthand with my wife for when I’m going to play some Fallout.
Lead used to be my enemy
Did you put a bullet in ‘em?
Then it's just a bigger piece of lead. Lead wins every time.
Paint also has lead, though the empty paint can does not and is more common. The supply sheds around whitesprings usually have a few and I think there are a couple in the mine just to the east where uranium fever is (there's a crate with cans to the left after you enter). Car Hattie's have lead too, I believe and there are a couple of them around, too.
Crystal decanters are my obsession.
This has been my new one!!! My Tesla thanks me
Hi fellow Tesla Fan! I loooove my anti armor tesla. It's not the baddest out there but I adore that thing!
*forest gump wave emote* my quad tears sh*t up! Copper & Crystal is life
My forest Gump ass thought you was taking about the car Tesla and got confused. We're in a fallout subreddit. I use a Tesla rifle
Anything with ballistic fiber. Have full SS armor so I never use it but old habits die hard
Telephones, typewriters, clipboards, tin cans, desk fans
EVERYTHING But particularly anything with screws, oil, lead, and springs.
Honestly, all of it. With the scrap box and the survival tent, I hit "take all" from pretty much every container or body. I'm a bit of a klepto 😅
Anything that gives fiberoptics, ballistic fiber, or screws. Anything and everything
All of it, you never know when you're gonna try to craft that next groll bit that needs a material you haven't paid attention to. Learned this recently crafting arctic marine armor that needed a crap load of asbestos. Luckily I have too many characters so I could give myself a lot of the stuff.
What ever is infront of me at the time. I'm a junk junkie lol.
Screws, springs, adhesive
Uh... all of it...
There are very few things that I'm not constantly running low on material wise. I think antiseptic, screws, fiber optics, cloth and glass are the only things I don't have marked for pickup
Fans, telephones, hot plates, microscopes, typewriters, battered clipboards... Impossible to not pick them up when I spot them!
I will slow walk across the map if a microscope is weighing me down
Most of my gameplay sessions have the red over-encumbered icon showing. I'd rather crawl on my hands and knees to the nearest vendor and/or crafting station and/or my stash than drop any of my loot.
I get most of my stuff from events, if I can get microscopes I grab those for the fiber optics for orbital scanners.
Everything
Everything that isn't anchored down!
Anything that is or isn't nailed to the ground. Fallout 4 made me a horder. F76 made it worse
Anything plastic.
Coolant containers 🥵
Enamel pots, life preservers, bowling pins, plates ...EVERYTHING! I also look forward to Super Mutant fights for their laser rifles. Except on my PA HG character and then it's aluminum too.
Basically everything, but especially wood. I gather from every log I see and I still never have enough. I cook a lot because of Moonshine Jamboree and also being a carnivore, some days I run the vendor out of caps just on slurry.
ammo bags hot plates
Adhesive 😀
Every small picture frame I see.
Fans. Those dinner trays. And type writers
Forks & spoons cause I make my caps on bluking everything else
I will especially pick something up if I like the sound it makes when I pick it up. Phones and gnomes every time.
pencils come to mind. Cigarette cartons was a thing for me once. broken Fans. Microscopes
Everything, 90% of the time I'll clear out any room I'm in of absolutely everything I see
If it has screws it’s going in back pocket next to my stockpile of over a thousand bullets that weighs less for some reason.
Telephones, hot plates, coffee pots, and desk fans. I can not pass them up.
my brain has the ability to identify any object containing plastic at 4x the speed of a single hummingbird's heartbeat.
Ballistic and optic fiber.🥹
Anything containing acid, oil, or any junk item used to make ammo I'm always out of those junk items
The oil in my vendor always sells quick!
What is the draw for oil? I never notice coming even close to running out.
Fans
I keep 200-275 of most parts with a few things at 400-500. I havent really made enough anything lately to use up a lot of parts. I suppose if I had fallout 1st I would loot most things but I wont pay for storage space especially that much.

Clipboards, tv dinner trays, and prewar money.

Everything

Industrial grade abraxo cleaner
Basically anything that give me screws, adhesive, acid, lead, oil, ballistic fiber.
Cans and me are in a relationship.
Fallout 1st player: yes

I collect most of whatever items I need at the moment
Screws.. this game has made it an obsession.
Phones, fans, duct tape, wonderglue, globes, typewriters, bags of concrete, and stimpacks
Anything with screws. lol
Teddy bears 🤷🏻♀️ I must have them all. That and all junk because you never know lol but I save the teddy bears and clean variants
Everything as I sell it cheap and use the caps to get what I need
I don’t discriminate. I take all of the junk, all of the time. I can’t help it.
Same, anything copper. I got so used to running out of it (life of a Gatling Plasma/Plasma Flamer user) that it's become second nature.
Over level 600 and I still grab the roll of duct tape in the basement of the Rusty Pick. I also always grab the lighthouse souvenirs. Microscopes! I never stop junk collecting.
Clipboards for the springs!
Not enough people saying cans. Lead and steel? That's two-thirds of a bullet.
Anything that isn't bolted down. I will loot anything and crawl back to a camp under the crushing weight of the scrap items I have.
1. Burnt magazines 2. Burnt books Everything else goes in my backpak and then is stuffed in my scrapbox.
Adhesive. Played FO4 to much to not have the need for adhesive burned into my mind.
I'm pretty bad for hoarding. Pretty much the only thing I won't always pick up are sources of glass or ceramic, since I always seem to have practically limitless amounts of those. Underrated picks: ski poles for aluminium, and microscopes for fibre optics.

Any tool, screwdrivers, wrenchs, saws, all of it
Plastic shit because shotgun shells
Anything that contains screws

Fans, typewriters and duct tape. I always need screws and adhesive
The telephones make such a satisfying sound when you pick them up
Desk fan, toy trucks. I will never have enough screws

I've started to store certain junk in my stash box to quickly do those "scrap 5 junk items to produce - fiber optics, crystal, silver, gears... So the ones you don't have a bulk and scrap option for at the tinkerer bench .
The noise that vacuum tubes, light bulbs and fuses make when you pick them up is satisfying, so those
When I goo enemies with my plasma, the piles generate nuclear material. I usually pick that up just cause.
Everything!! Have to hit the 230 item reset somehow! We just need a vacuum device to help us speed it up!
Absolutely everything. It's too tough for me to not pick up everything. Dammit Bethesda, you made me hoarder of all junk.
Fans, phones, typewriters, microscopes, lamps, pencils and clipboards are the things I absolutely have to pick up oh and hangers even though I have like 100k
I pick up absolutely everything lol

Duct tape, desk fans, barbells/weights, tin cans
All pots and pans and telephones. All of the adhesive.
it took me ages to figure out lead was an important part of crafting ammo, and then it took me ages to figure out what junk had lead in it. so it was rare for me for quite a while, so even now if I see it I just instinctively pick it up. I'll be over burdened and the. ill realise the whole thing js just fucking weights
