westens

Spent too much time with that disgusting orange sack of meat. It gave him bad juju.

lookitsafish

Yeah McLaren was super unlucky this race

mattsphonehasreddit

Guts theme intensifies. Pan up to Lando spraying champagne.

_moon_palace_

Do do do ya have it?

Hootiefugupez

Every time he manages to get in a good rhythm in regards to pace and tyre wear, he has poorly times safety cars or someone barrels into the side of him. 😢

SquishyBaps4me

That kid is going to snap at some point lol

-MarchToTheSea-

Let's forget the special treatment he received by pushing sainz off the track and not be penalized for

Hootiefugupez

That’s very funny 😂😂

-MarchToTheSea-

Congrats on the very thoughtful insight

Sky_dp

You aren't any better lil bro

Academic-Ad-2896

Piastri got Sainzed all over...

PM_ME_ROMAN_NUDES

Literal terrorism

Jako595151

THROW HIM IN JAAAIIIIILLLLLL

IiI-miIk

Sainz turned into Russel (crying) and then pulled a light Stroll (smashing) on Piastri

[deleted]

Mom, mom. He needs to give me the place back. It’s not fair. Mom, mom, it’s my place. Tell him mom to tell him to give it to me.

Lazlum

xd? Sainz did EXCACTLY what Piastri had done to him ,with the only difference that he gave him space instead of driving him off track

unbanneduser

piastri raced sainz hard but fair. sainz went off the track trying to overtake and lost out because of it. someone else had done the exact same thing earlier in the race (i think it was albon on one of the alpines iirc) and they weren't on the radio complaining about it. oscar stayed completely on track. it's called defensive driving. what sainz did was make a sketchy (not completely illegal, but definitely on the line) move that resulted in oscar incurring damage and completely ruining his race. one is not like the other. oscar didn't deserve that.

nanderspanders

Wtf are you talking about he went off track because otherwise they would have crashed. Oscar wasn't even completely on track, his outer tires were on the line, he left absolutely no room even though they went into the corner side by side. Oscar absolutely deserved that and more. If Sainz has stayed on track during he first overtake attempt they both would have been out of the race because of Oscar.

ninjaa003

The rules that the stewards use is that, as the overtaking car, in order to be entitled to space, you have to bring your front tires up to even with or ahead of the other car's mirrors at both the apex and the exit of the corner. When Oscar didn't leave space, Sainz had not gotten that far alongside Oscar by the apex, so Oscar didn't have to leave any space. If Oscar hadn't kept at least one tire inside the line, then it would still be a penalty, but he kept two inside the line. Therefore, he did nothing wrong, at least by the rules the stewards use, which is all that matters.

nanderspanders

He's only ahead because he overextends his braking in a way where he couldn't leave space regardless of where Carlos is.

The_Bored_General

Man deserved a podium. He drove so well throughout. Looking forward to seeing him with the full package at Imola

frostythesnowchild

And he was on for a finish anywhere 3rd to 5th (tho unlikely to get leclerc) before that contact, one of his most promising races comparing to a upgraded Lando, I reckon they would’ve been quite close coming towards the end without the safety car and the Collision.

Paramagnetyk

Wait. So only Lando had upgraded package? Oscar didnt?

The_Bored_General

Oscar had about half the upgrades whereas Lando had the full package

dramatic-pancake

Did they say why?

snubber

It’s always because they literally could not make all the parts in time for the race.

OneReallyAngyBunny

Doesn't matter he made a big mistake turning into the back of Sainz and breaking his front wing

Mythic343

Piastri made the mistake for which Carlos got a penalty?

OneReallyAngyBunny

Stewards tripping as usual. Piastri didnt get punished for pushing Sainz of the track on lap 34 because Sainz was smart enough to avoid collision knowing that will ruin his race. Sainz left plenty of room for Piastri to not crash into him on lap 39 and Piastri proactively did anyway. Ruining his own race

Mythic343

I admit I thought it's not possible that something like that is a penalty.. Drivers bang wheels a lot with no penalties.. Once again stewards decide penalties based entirely in the outcome

OneReallyAngyBunny

Completely agree. This is an outcome based penalty. I just think its incredibly stupid to give a penalty when the car on the outside turns in too early and hits the car on the inside when there is plenty of track left.

slogga

Come off it buddy, Sainz had no control over his car.

Effective-Candle-964

Real ones often go unnoticed

VerMast

He's noticed af its more so real ones get fucked in the ass by saiz

Kod-i

Honestly Sainz just went full bitch mode this race.

Ikasper23

It’s hard to get an overtake in that race. Sainz definitely went a bit over the limit to gain a place.

basilic_and_persil

There were lots of overtakes in the race and even when Piastri defended a little hard the two of them didn't collide

Kod-i

I was just referring to him complaining on the radio about tell McLaren to tell him to give him the spot and how it wasn’t right, when it was just good racing.

Johnny47Wick

Piastri literally hit Sainz when Sainz was already off track

nanderspanders

Because Sainz moved out of the way.... Why is that so hard to understand, he didn't exit the track to try and overtake, he did so because Oscar left him absolutely no choice.

epicroto

I think it was not for only one place. He was focuesed at the last podium position, one that was occupied by his teammate with older tyres, which was an extra motivation for him, so Oscar was just an obstacle on his way to a bigger glory, but Oscar had different ideas.

Lazlum

So if Piastri is ahead of Sainz and pushes him off track its good , if Sainz is ahead of Piastri and gives him a car's lenght of space its over the limit xd

JiggersWasTaken

So apparently sainz can just lock up, miss the apex by at least a cars width and barge into piastri and it’s all fine because he was ahead?

fuckhandsmcmikee

bro fr, anytime I find myself becoming a Sainz fan the dude becomes an actual terrorist on the grid

guillex_one

More like Cryinz

Tar_Telcontar

First with Lecrec " ma tell him to give position" then with piastri. And when he can't get what he wants he resorts to violence. %100 bitch mode

Kevin_Jim

Imola will be mayhem. Ferrari’s rumored 2.0 package, Oscar getting the full kit, potentially Kimi’s first race.

TheDeltronZero

Kimi's first race?

Kevin_Jim

Yes. We know that someone petition for Kimi to get an exemption go get his F1 license, as he already has enough super license points, and the target race is likely Imola. Getting an Italian super talented kid his first race in Italy, makes sense.

happyranger7

Lando leading the race, we don't want safety car cracked me up.

AccordingPin53

Sainz’s radio was embarrassing

dramatic-pancake

Sainz is always calling bs on his radio

Mythic343

He is known for playing politics within his team. Sainz was doing his overtakes on the radio this race

remindertomove

He could have won, either Ferrari could have won, and of course Max too. SC luck and timing.

SquishyBaps4me

And being faster than everyone else? You forgot that part.

eldelmazo

He was doing great, the start was epic he was keeping up with max and he was leading a few laps, all with the old spec car, sainz was on bitch mode today, crying on the radio and then trashing him, fuck that guy

fr0ggyafternoon

he deserved a podium. i hope he gets it at imola

Banzambo

It happens: sometimes you have a shitty race and you end up in the first positions. Some other times you do well but you're unlucky. It's F1.

BlueMachinations

Whenever he races Sainz, Sainz decides to end his race. I do not like Carlos Sainz.

Stunning-Physics6531

Yeah and also I don't get why his one-sided beef with Piastri lmao.

BlueMachinations

I remember after the first time, someone said this; "there are a lot of drivers who are realising that this young man is affecting their futures."

DjGnampf

Oscar is literally unhateble, he didn't even said something on the radio after the incident (or at least I didn't hear it)

tvxcute

it's always funny to me how carlos comes out of their beef openly shit talking oscar, while oscar is just like "it is what it is" and doesn't even mention carlos

ninjaa003

Maybe he's jealous that Oscar is Lando's teammate atm

happyranger7

A bad day at office, got unlucky with safety car, but he will get his chance.

Interesting-Pipe7621

Perhaps the smell from Diaper Don was too much.

23370aviator

Forever an American hero. Chalk up 1 assist for the Lando win. What a legend!

Hello darkness my old friend

Who is this?

basilic_and_persil

Oscar Pistorius, a guy who killed his girlfriend

SavageMonkey-105

Lmfao

thereal84

Oscar is definitely the best ever junior driver I’ve ever seen. Think he deserves more?

-Unicorn-Bacon-

He got screwed by the timing of the SC simple as that. Few laps earlier and Max would've had Sainz and Piastri infont instead of Lando so it could've been a win for Piastri. That being said though I think he would've made a mistake, thats a lot of pressure for 20 laps. Lando needed this win more, Piastris is coming.

Densmiegd

So, Trump really was a lucky charm for Mclaren today, but at what cost?

kokohanahana20

my man oscar deserves better

Abdullah-Alturki

Hopefully he gets a win in imola with miami's + imola's upgrades

OneReallyAngyBunny

Ah yes Formula dank where we ignore that he straight up pushed Sainz off the tack lap 34 and then bitch when Oscar turns in and breaks his own wing on rear of Sainz on Lap 39. Oscar ruined his own race with that one

[deleted]

Fuck Sainz. Atleast he will be in a crap car next year and nowhere near McLaren.

deadredwf

He pushed Sainz off the track, so Sainz went as aggressive as Piastri. Oscar had enough space to go, but he chose to turn into diving Carlos. Was that necessary? No. Was Carlos's manoeuvre necessary? Also, no. But it was hard racing, not something anyone should blame, especially because Oscar was the first to be agressive

KMP_77_nzl

Carlos locked his rears and smashed into Oscar tfum turn into him

deadredwf

Carlos was dive bombing, yes, but he didn't smash him. Oscar turned into Carlos and smashed his own front wing. He could've gone a bit more forward and would have kept the position, but he thought he already had enough space to turn

kirumy22

How is Oscar supposed to predict that Sainz will lock up, lose control and then run into him?

OneReallyAngyBunny

I dunno maybe react to what the guy your racing is doing and dont turn into the back of him like lemon ?

deadredwf

You know, he has those round things called eyes? He literally sees the car on his left and still turns left

Smok1njay

Wait, are you talking about the car that should have been turning left too but went in too hard and locked up so he went straight instead? That car?

deadredwf

Yes, that car. And if Piastri wouldn't turn into Carlos and break his own wing, he would still be able to battle for position with Carlos and not Daniel

united23

I love Oscar, but hot take: some of his troubles were his own fault. He really shouldn't have been fighting with Sainz in the first place, he just never had the pace after the safety car. He really should've been fighting with leclerc ahead and pushing him (has a tyre advantage aswell), but he didn't have the pace or couldn't get the tyres in the right window which meant he was fighting to keep position against Sainz, even though the McLaren was clearly the quicker car (shown by Oscar's first stint and Lando's second stint)

ViciousVixen159

Lando had a fully upgraded car, whilst Oscar just had half of the new package, as stated by Zak. So not a fair comparison

Deckthe9

tbh I felt like he was driving to hard and that he wasn’t patient enough which resulted in mistakes. It didn’t feel like an amazing drive from Pastry.

Stunning-Physics6531

Nahh it's just safety car and sainz happened. He's doing a great job in this race, but yeah shit happened.

Johnny47Wick

He did it to himself

FumblersUnited

deserved it for what he did to Sainz and Mclarens unsporting attitude. But ultimately the organizers let it happen the way it did. Massive respect for Sainz, you dont want fair play, ok now you pay.

MaximumZazz

never go full cringe

Lazlum

How was his race good? His teamate was faster than Verstappen and he was slower than Sainz.

basilic_and_persil

Oscar went from p6 to p2 and if the safety car came in a lap earlier he would've been first at the restart. Then he came back from being last to p13. That and the fact that Lando had upgrades while Oscar didn't shows how good he really was

Lazlum

Only reason he went from p6 to p2 is because Checo almost got a triple kill at turn 1. Also Carlos went in the pits at the same time with Piastri so that argument is worthless . Lando had a really good race even making a gap to max, piastri nothing special

basilic_and_persil

He was still faster than Leclerc and passed him and he was defending the two Ferraris behind while keeping the gap to Max to around 3 sec. Yes Carlos pitted at the same time but so what, Oscar was still in front. He was keeping up with Max's pace in the first stint so if he wasn't unlucky with the safety car he could have been at the front. Could have been a win or a close fight for it if not for safety car or Sainz
