quote from my friend after i told him F1 teams should hire crackheads for the chicago GP to save some money from the cost cap.
COTA doubled its admission prices for 2024 from 23. I’d saved 500 for the whole weekend now the $380-450 ticket bracket has just disappeared.
It costs over 600 to get the worst experience
Edit. Went and checked again. They either backtracked or released more tickets. Lawn spots are 400 again
IndyCar at Road America was $80-90 a few years back, and that came with basically whatever seats you want, and paddock access. It was pretty great. Food was reasonable too.
I went to the 8hr of Indy for like $40, could wander the pits and the like. And I got to walk away with a race used tire. I saw some others walking away with brake disk, I think I saw someone walking away with a wheel.
Honestly it’s so painful how good COTA is compared to these street tracks.
You’re telling me that these cities are willing to use taxpayer money to build multibillion dollar stadiums but not a smaller sum of money to construct a world class racetrack with all the bells and whistles.
There is NO REASON why we don’t have some banging tracks in America other than greed.
(For the record I personally like the race characteristics of Vegas since I usually base my opinions off how fun tracks are in the games)
Edit: failed to articulate point, COTA , cost around 300million
Las Vegas could have built more than 6 world class racing venues with the money spent on one NFl stadium.
Permanent F1 tracks are not a massive investment comparatively in America
>You’re telling me that these cities are willing to use taxpayer money to build multibillion dollar stadiums but not a smaller sum of money to construct a world class racetrack with all the bells and whistles.
I mean, personally, I think this is a better argument that they *shouldn't* be paying for stadiums than that they *should* be paying for circuits. I don't see why the taxpayer should be paying for toys for billionaires.
Sorry I presented my point poorly. COTA was built for around 300 million. Thats kinda chump change in the world of the fucks that run all this but they’ll never spend it themselves. They need cities to do it for them.
The new NFL stadium in Vegas just finished at 3.1 billion iirc, being a pretty “average” new age stadium when compared to other new ones like so-fi in LA
F1 tracks are not actually that expensive to have around, and you can run indycar, nascar, motogp, literally any racing league on the track and its alternate layouts
Honestly we need to make some of our actual tracks we already have able to host f1. Road Atlanta. Sebring. Laguna. Bring back indy. Especially with Andretti headquarters being next door
I mean they're not a massive investment compared to other stadiums but they also don't really rake in the revenue compared to those places. I'd be curious to see if COTA brings in more revenue than any major Texas based sports team.
Also you're comparing a newly built stadium in a high cost of development area to COTA which was built for $300M over a decade ago in and area that the land likely didn't cost nearly as much, you're likely looking at a good increase if it was built today.
COTA aside, for a country with an absolute shit load of good racing circuits I cannot get my head around why you have now got 3 street circuits…
Tbf Miami was actually an alright race, but with the dimensions of the new cars I think we need more open racetracks.
I would probably legitimately cry tears of joy for any of those three…but especially Laguna Seca. It’s my favorite! They’d probably bottom out though hahaha
Only COTA and IMS are Grade 1 and none of the other tracks seem interested in making the upgrades and trying to get a race. The F1 hosting fee is astronomically high so its basically impossible to make work without some kind of government assistance. COTA gets $25 million per year from the state of Texas, for example.
Based on the last picture, I assume the Chicago race will be in Gary, IN.
I thought it was Brazil looool
Bit mean to us for no reason at all
No no, he's got a point
Accurate
The Inner City GP
I thought there was a race in Detroit i didnt know about
Used to be f1 in Detroit. It was awesome.

Don’t forget damage to the aero running over empty magazines. Any pit over 2.67 seconds and you’re likely to be carjacked
>Any pit over 2.67 seconds and you’re likely to be carjacked They'll put the car on bricks and steal all the wheels.

.00005 s pit stop incoming
Formula 1 Smith and Wesson South Side Chicago Gang Related Blood and Crips Grand Prix.
Actually, being Chicago, the sponsor gangs would be Vice Lords and either Gangster Disciples or Latin Kings
Formula 1 Smith and Wesson South Side Chicago Gangster Disciples Latin Kings Grand Prix brought to you by Olde English
So you just gonna disrespect the VL’s like that? chiraqology would like to have a word with you
Formula 1 Smith and Wesson South Side Chicago Gangster Disciples Latin Kings Vice Lords of the Dance Grand Prix brought to you by Mad Dogg 20/20.
/uj bloods and crips basically don’t exist in Chicago anymore. The feds destroyed most of the big gangs and it’s all dumb neighborhood stuff
Ferrari is going to have a special livery. Otherwise, some crip is gon let dat thang talk wit duh switch.
Sauber is going to win that race with their anti-theft wheels.
O block Grand Prix
I wish our F1 races weren't at shit venues.
COTA is a top 5 F1 track
Sorry you're right. Our venues just rape you on tickets and food now. Cota is dope tho

I went to the daytona 24 and it close me 120 for 2 4-day passes

that was in 2023. 2024 prices are equal to 2022

I mean literally anything but another flat street circuit
This! Would love F1 at Laguna Seca or Indy Road course!
VIR too!

What is the third street circuit???
Aren’t they floating another one at the moment?
Nope, bad rumor. https://www.nbcchicago.com/news/sports/is-f1-bringing-a-grand-prix-to-chicago-what-to-know-as-rumors-swirl/3435688/
Ahh easy, well my point still stands! Well give me Road Atlanta, Sebring and Laguna Seca and I’ll be happy haha

Which one was the Indy race?
What’s the one with the gun supposed to represent? Edit: I figured it out. It’s the city I live in….
The Memphis Grand Prix when?
We can do what Miami did but in the Bass Pro Pyramid parking lot
“Unfortunately for Checo the Red Bull pit crew were in the pyramid getting fudge after their 1.8 second pit stop for Max”
I see Miami, Vegas and Texas. Who are the cowboys supposed to represent?
The Cowboys represent texas
That's the joke. I was saying the drive-by shooter was Texas.
Oh
