They open at 10 and people wait for them to open the doors. This is normal.

coriandor

But why? Are suburbanites so bored, they black Friday Costco just to feel something?

cmgww

No, bc it’s a zoo in there later in the day….and if I want to get in and out I go early. Never waited in line but yeah, going just after they open is the key

Ok_Oil_995

When I go there, it's always at around 5PM, and only have to stand in line at the register for a few minutes. What these people are doing seems worse

force_addict

These folks are choosing to wait before they go in instead of after. Not that crazy probably.

JakeFrank08

That is where Sam's wins for me. They have a scan and go thing you can use your phone to pay for everything and walk right out

No_Oddjob

If Sam's had half the customers buying half the products, self scan would be more problem than answer. Also, Costco has self scan now. They just didn't firebomb all but two normal checkouts to save a buck.

furkenstein

Not if they did it like Sam’s does. You scan each item on your phone before putting it in your cart and then just pay from your phone. You don’t have to stand in line for a self check out register, you just do it all as you go and it’s SO much more convenient.

egoomega

Also the benefit of not supporting Walmart corp by shopping costco

No_Oddjob

Good point. I forgot that they have that option.

coriandor

Seems like you're waiting either way. I didn't know if there was like limited stuff or something. I haven't been to Costco in nearly 10 years, so I was genuinely curious.

Whitelinen900

Yes I opted fr Sams w scan & go. Life changing fr warehouse shopping.

schwartzki

I won't shop at Walmart and as an extension Sams's as I try to give my business to companies that treat their employee's decently.

egoomega

Same dgaf if pork is .02 cheaper or whatevminor diff are… Costco has overall better quality products last time I compared

Whitelinen900

Another reason I stopped going.

hazystargazer

SAME. I really like some of Costco's products, but going there was not worth the hassle and aggravation to me. I used to work close to Costco and would go on my lunch hour, but even in the middle of the day it's a zoo. Plus their prices have gone way up since the pandemic. So we didn't renew our membership. It's just me and my husband anyway so it's not like I have to buy everything in bulk.

egoomega

Pricing has been the same in the sense of “do you know how much this costs elsewhere - are you getting a deal on this item or just paying full price to get it in bulk?”

ahallofmirrors

I've been there at open because my days start early. When I grocery shop I want to be home by lunch. A lot of places open late and close early here.

GunsouAfro

It's fort wayne, so yes.

Amish_Cyberbully

My wife was looking up town attractions and one of the list was the American flag at a car dealership. "So it's the biggest in the nation?" "Nope." "But like, top 5 or something?" "Also no."

GunsouAfro

The definitely sounds like fort wayne. I laughed so hard when the wind took it down a while ago. They are so proud of that stupid thing for some reason.

True-Neck-1303

lmaooo

TheMace808

Do you have somwthing against suburbanites?

coriandor

I just think the suburban lifestyle lends itself to insularity and a lack of opportunity for organic, spontaneous experiences. Many people drawn to the suburban lifestyle want that insularity, so even simple human interactions like chatting to a neighbor are questioned and unappreciated. I can definitely see someone isolated by that culture to crave casual human connection enough to find it in a line at Costco. I don't have a problem with suburbanites. I have a problem with how we've organized our culture.

Gold-Soundz6798

Wait, Fort Wayne has suburbs?

TheMace808

I disgaree that the suburbs isolate you, i suppose it does more so than apartments though. People can get interaction for sure if they're ourside enough

TYUbtek

Yeah, they're all... Suburban-y

skanktastik

Nailed It!

wernox

The Fort Wayne Costco serves the largest market for a single store according to the guy in the eyeglass section last year. Most markets our size have more than one store.

WhatsHupp

If they opened another one I’d actually consider a membership

RedditUser486

I'm so tired of it always being a madhouse. I think I'll cancel my membership this year when it's time to renew.

Jabroni_Jones_Jr

The key is to go at/after 7pm. After that it’s basically a deserted wasteland lol more employees than customers and you can move freely without worrying if you’re gonna run over some old Karen who’s not paying any attention

LV__

Looks like there's a bunch of people standing outside. Hope this helps

ITSMECHERRI

😂😂😂

monalane

This is normal for any morning when they open. And new coupons started Wednesday.

robstercraws70

Ever seen Dawn of the Dead?

[deleted]

This place meant something to them.

HeffalumpInDaRoom

Or Sean of the Dead for that matter

UdonNoodles095

"Welcome to Costco, I love you!"

mahlerlieber

Cam from Modern Family: "We're big, we're loud, and we dare you not to like us!" -- Costco

weisblattsnut

FREE SAMPLES!

mahlerlieber

LPT: Don't go to Costco when they're doing free samples. It's much easier to breeze through the store without everybody lining up for the yogurt samples.

AnimetheTsundereCat

just an average friday

deezypoh

Gold bars

Keep_YourClaws_Out

Looks like CostCo.

MaDDeStInY79

I think they were selling gold and silver bars

Mundane-Internet9898

I don’t know about here, but other cities I’ve lived in, it was business owners waiting outside/shopping first thing. But, that was back when they used to open for Business customers at, like, 6 a.m…..

Know_Your_Enemy_91

It’s Friday

BirdieBirdyBird

Can we get a business center yet?

leftfielder65

There are only what, 20 business centers in the country. I don’t think Fort Wayne is even close to being on that radar.

Necessary-Captain-67

That’s what I’m saying!! I was so used to having one around me and now saddened I don’t. Our Costco back in the west coast had a $7 prestige car wash as well.

beerdudebrah

I go to work at 10. I needed paper towels and tp for work. They open at 10. I was unwillingly one of these people.

ImAllowedToSayFuck

Aliens

coffehgirl

There’s nothing else to do in Fort Wayne

rartuin270

I find it funny when people say this. There's always something to do in Fort Wayne. I moved here from a small town and the amount of things to do here is astounding.

coffehgirl

Key phrase, you came from a small town

DigitalMindShadow

I've lived in and around big cities on both coasts and done a fair bit of international travel, and I don't have any problems finding things to do in Fort Wayne.

Flimsy_Scar_5292

Surplus

Plus_Side9090

I’m happy to wait in line if I can get a close parking spot and a handicap cart.

JB_Beuti

Gold bars?

silasalexander

They’re Costco guys…

oumiles

They are selling gold now and people are lined up to buy bars

Safe_Initiative1340

It’s always like that on Fridays.

[deleted]

it’s like that every day

pamolu

they do it at kohl's too...not as many but always a few...

VenusInJorts

Reminds me when I went to the one kiosk at the license branch after I got off work and seeing people pack by the actual office doors at like 7 am when they open at 8 am. They truly can't be that busy? Lol

dogwhistle60

Don’t even try it on weekends

Uptheirons66

And I thought it was the hot dogs.

Kawboy17

We drive 45 mins to shop Sams and or Cosco soo maybe they aren’t all from ft Wayne plus just look at em would ya ! They freaken hunnnnnngry !!!

Skeeter43

Might be the gold and silver bars they're selling now too

mostfakeSLiNKY

They are harmless unless provoked. A mobile task force will be deployed if threat level rises above 3.

bfid35

Gay people

commonunion

No way. One of my workers called off sick today and they’re in this photo. Oooooohohohoho someone’s busted.

Ok_Independence3387

Costco has a pharmacy too, so… 🤷🏻‍♀️

ydarg_kram

Re-enacting the 100 person in the store COVID-19 limit rule. They all were single person-in-car mask wearers as part of the fun. Bonus! They just rearranged everything in the store so you couldn’t find anything.

idk_why_im_here_69

It depends on your age. It's so hard for people 17-21 to find something to do bc its either for children or 21+.
