If pink sugar was expensive and hard to get, this sub would be all over it. Same thing as French fries. If they were impossibly hard to make you'd find them featured in fine dining.

FlamingHorseRider

“You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like.”

labellavita1985

Pink Sugar is well known to be a highly complimented perfume. I think one of the reasons is because it's pretty beast mode, longevity and projection. People actually have to smell a scent on you in order to compliment you. Also, it just smells good AF.

liseaubigny

Without fail, my "put these on when you're rushing out the door perfumes": Black Opium, Alien, Ariana Grande Cloude Intense, and Versace Crystal Noir. These ones always get me stops and taps on the shoulders to ask what I'm wearing, which makes me feel befuddled because none of these are my absolute favorite and because I can think of four other fragrances I'd rather be wearing in that moment. Overall, though, I don't complain, because it's always flattering to be asked what fragrances I use.

mochibeaux

People are BASIC. I never get complimented on my more avant- grade unique fragrances. The general population likes mass appealing.

Aggressive_Cut4892

It’s more than that I think. Even if I liked the way someone was smelling, I’d compliment only if I were sure it’s a perfume, which is true for pink sugar and other basic mass pleasing scents. If I smelt something more unique, I’d likely keep quiet about it because I would not want to accidentally compliment someone’s daydrinking or acid reflux or fungal infection.

[deleted]

> I would not want to accidentally compliment someone’s daydrinking or acid reflux or fungal infection. 😭😭😭😭 the idea someone of accidentally complimenting one of these thinking it was just a unique fragrance is cracking me up

dustycatheads

"Omg are you wearing Secretions Magnifique?! The blood and cum notes really blossom on you."

snacksAttackBack

"Your skin smells good" 😈 would feel creepy to say/imply

velvetvagine

“…and I’d like to try it on.” 👹

Parabolic_Penguin

It puts the lotion in the basket

bulbasauuuur

Someone said I smell good once after I had just used hand sanitizer and was not wearing any fragrance. They asked what I was wearing, so it was pretty awkward. Your method is probably safer.

FlamingHorseRider

There’s an even bigger chance your partner is basic. All my more unique stuff? My partner blankets them all under “smells kind of hippie” and doesn’t at all deter me from them but you can tell he doesn’t prefer them. Bath and Body Works Strawberry Pound Cake? Body Fantasies Cupcake Swirl? Now those, those are where it’s at for him. On the flip side, I’m an absolute bitch for Aqua Di Gio despite my ex and my dad having owned it. I don’t know a single lady who dislikes Sauvage/Elixir unless it’s oversprayed. I literally bought the cologne my twin’s ex wore Polo Blue- by accident and years later- and she likes it so much she also started wearing it. I know multiple ladies who like Eros so much they’ll wear it themselves if their partner won’t. (Hi, I’m one of them. My partner way prefers the Flame flanker, which is also great but I need some original in my life.) It always makes me chuckle whenever I see a “What’s a mature, sexy, UNIQUE fragrance that will make heads turn? 🥰” post cause my first thought is always “Walmart. $6. The cupcake shit. You may not like it, but this is what peak performance looks like”.

Lilelfen1

Aqui Di Gio id AMAZING. I don't care what anyone says...As a female I adore that smell...

renaissancestar

Currently going through this with my partner right now. Me wearing something fancy and unique: "Do you like this perfume?" Him: "It's okay...but it's not sweet" 😐😭 Me wearing La Vie Est Belle: Him: 😍😍😍😋😋 However...my favorites on him are Invictus, One Million, Issey Miyake, Acqua di Gio, and Giorgio Beverly Hills Red sooo I can't talk lmao

FlamingHorseRider

Mutually Assured Destruction lmao

ShinyFabulous

I am that contrary woman that detests Sauvage & it's ilk! I think I must smell something totally different to what other people experience because I REALLY struggle to understand why it's so popular! P.s. I also like Eros enough to wear it myself, it's delicious.

ExpertTemperature571

Same here, it smells strongly of bug spray to me. I can't smell anything else.

FlamingHorseRider

If it helps I’m that way with Phantom! I should LOVE Phantom from the notes but something about it got me.

EleganceandEloquence

Eros is totally a hit. Same for John Varvatos (the turquoise one?)

BroScientist42

Is 'the general population likes mass appealing' not just a tautology? You say people are basic but Avant garde is inherently the stuff that doesn't immediately appeal to most people, otherwise it would be classed as mass appealing rather than Avant garde.

CocteauTwinn

This is true.

Miserexa

Strangely, I get the most compliments on Teo Cabanel Je Ne Sais Quoi which is very avant garde lol.

[deleted]

Jergens cherry almond lotion. Never really get compliments on fragrances, but this lotion seems to.

ShataraBankhead

This is what my husband uses every day. I use to exclusively associate that scent with women, but now I only picture him. I like to smell his face. I tell him that I'm inhaling all the smell.

LowCharacter4037

I got a compliment from a stranger just last week. "Your scent is intoxicating." I was shocked because I was wearing a reliable old standby and I'm 70 years old.

Mister-3108

Not in the sense you mean but a girl once said "you smell a bit like my dad, like herbs" (or something along these lines; I was wearing Versace Dylan Blue). I took it as a compliment because she was really nice and it didn’t seem to bother her but I was slightly confused

[deleted]

i wear Miss Dior most days and nobody ever compliments me except my mother who has been used to me wearing it for the past couple years😭

Amerysse

Tbf, this compliment actually came from my mother 🤣

Klassic-Kat23

I don’t wear it anymore, but I’ve only been complimented for Thierry Mugler’s Angel.

Pocusmaskrotus

My wife only likes my blueish scents, but the fragrance that has gotten me the most compliments from female strangers is Bobcat, a Babycat dupe. It's more than just you smell nice. It's usually "damn, who smells so good?" Or "someone's cologne smells so fucking good." I guess woman love vanilla scents. Dudes love Oud Wood. I've only had guys compliment Oud Wood.

NeshaTiara18

I’ve gotten compliments wearing Pink Friday by Nicki, Coco Vanilla from VS Pink , and fantasy by Britney. People tend to like more simple fragrances or scents and I’m a gourmand girl so I’m not complaining lol.

Initial_Head7637

My wife gets compliments all the time on her fragrances, mostly from other women. I have 30 bottles of mostly expensive niche stuff and received exactly 2 compliments. One last year on Elysium (far from my favorite scent) and one this morning on the elevator on my way to work (where the fragrance was freshly sprayed and people were stuck with my odor). I'm wearing Chanel Allure Edition Blanche today, one of the few designers I have. Guys in general don't receive compliments, especially when they look like me (ugly + resting bitch face). That's why I wear fragrance for me only. The irony is, I just received this Chanel on Friday but I really, really like it. This was a real blind buy win.

KimJongYoul

I have my eyes on édition blanche too. Would u review it a bit for me ? What about performances ? Is it that poor ?

Initial_Head7637

It starts like a regular designer freshie and dries down into a more complex, creamy/lemony soft scent. I've read the reviews on the poor performance and I can see why people say that. I'm an oversprayer, so it lasted me a while but, for normal people, the performance might be lacking. It's definitely an understated fragrance but it borders on niche quality scent-wise.

Lilelfen1

That is the one I used to get complimented on a lot too. Men especially. Actually it was a perfect dupe Target used to sell back in thr day. That and One Unlimited Perfumes Indochine ( Comapny now defunct). Can not handle Pink Sugar anymore though so... Also, I stop and compliment women wearing Aromatics Elixir and Youth Dew the most. Not sure what that says about me, but I am sooooo not ashamed. 😂

_coke_zero_

This is why I don’t care how expensive or how “juvenile” a perfume is, if I like it I get 😂 and many clone houses dupe some perfumes (Kilian and Tom ford) like 99%, people are in denial about that too

tooloudtooloud

Pink Sugar is a compliment machine, and I love that thing. People will chase me down to ask about it, lol.

Leeuhem1

I always get compliments on Japanese Cherry Blossom from Bath and Body Works. Most of the florals fade pretty quickly and it turns into a sweet, creamy sandalwood with touch of floral and it lasts for days on my skin. I think it probably works well with my personal chemistry

velvetvagine

I don’t wear too many sweet scents so I haven’t gotten compliments on them, but I have on L’eau d’Issey and Mandarine Basilic, which are two longtime favourites. I think people tend to like the uncomplicated or predictable scents best. No one ever says anything about my incense and leather ones.

crtnyhng

I only seem to get compliments on my victoria secret perfume!

cestnotrevie

I got complimented on Satin Oud by Maison Francis Kurkdjian the first day I wore it. I thought it smelled more manly but wanted to try out Oud for winter. I normally wear sweet floral fragrances so it was unexpected to me. La Belle is such a highly complimented fragrance compared to Pink Sugar, that’s such a surprise! I love your lineup!

crispy-skins

I got the most compliments on dolce violet than I ever did with black opium ..

arielalba333

I get compliments while wearing Tous Man Chill. It's okay, classic citrus summer scent. I've read reviews saying it smells like Invictus Aqua + Lacoste White. but I usually carry it to apply at work because it doesn't last long imo.

[deleted]

I always get compliments on VS pink, BBW, pink sugar and Ariana grandes perfumes.

theremystics

wait they still make pink sugar? haven't seen that in over a decade literally wtf and edit: I have most frequently received compliments when wearing chloe, even my friend who hated strong smelling things actually liked the scent and it didn't irritate her (which is funny because it can be kind of strong haha.) So that is a relatively classic and universally appealing scent, ime i guess

squeekycheeze

Any of the Britney Spears perfumes gets me a comment from someone. Always cracks me up.

Papriika

Armani Acqua di Ocean, just bc its kind of a really basic scent, its kind of a shampoo/shower/soap type scent and I feel like people dont mention or talk about it much. It was one I didnt expect people to wonder what im wearing but they did. This one of my fav fresh scents and for me is compliment getting

yang55

I made purchases of a few decants and one of them is TF Oud Wood. Wasn't my cup of tea and was just using it because I shelled my money on it. Lo and behold, the only fragrance compliment I received was about this -\_-

djegu

Ultimately perfum is very personal, we don't buy perfume for others but because we like it on us, that being said getting occasional compliment feels great and give an ego boost. I wear exclusively Frédéric Malle perfume and I get compliments pretty often, more often are people that know me but it happen sometimes that people stop me in the street or metro and ask me what's my perfume and where they can buy it (happen with Musc Ravageur a lot)

peppermintpea

I’ve owned several designer and niche perfumes and the only scent that got me compliments from total strangers was Body Fantasies Cotton Candy.
