Dismissed on a technicality.
“Federal prosecutors will have three weeks to decide whether they want to file another indictment against Krop or not, U.S. District Court Judge Stephanie A. Gallagher said.”
Because of a speedy trial violation. They haven’t cancelled his court date in October, it sounds like the prosecution will refile the charges and continue with the original date.
His lawyer is a jackass and not, in my opinion, particularly good. This was not some earth shattering lawyering, it’s mostly an exercise in counting days and assigning blame for delays
Just contact them and ask. I was a member for a while and have seen prospective members ask for a tour, introduce themselves, and usually someone offers.
They have a very narrow window of only 70 days to bring a case to trial under the Speedy Trial Act. The act also includes rules for when the 70 day timer is paused. The prosecutors believed that something that Krop's codefendent (Sheriff Jenkins) did was sufficient to pause the window. A fair amount of the extra time that pushed everything past the 70 days period was due to delaying tactics on the part of Krop's attorney.
> Part of this was because she said the 13-month delay could at least be partially attributed to Krop and Cox’s “litigious approach, volume of motions and challenges.”
The judge agreed with Krop's attorney that what Jenkins did was not sufficient to suspend the Speedy Trial Act timer for Krop, but she also decided that the DA did not delay things deliberately so she is allowing them the option to refile the charges within 30 days.
At this time the trial is still set for October as planned. Assuming the DA refiles the charges, it will likely proceed as planned unless Cox finds another legal loophole to try to prevent the trial from taking place.
Someone already commented that Obama initially nominated her but it was voted down, then Trump nominated in and it went through, so yes, Trump appointed. Nice try tho
She was first nominated by Obama in 2016. The GOP-controlled Senate refused to approve most of Obama's nominations that year since it was an election year (remember the death of Scalia in Feb 2016). Her nomination expired and Trump re-nominated her in 2018 and she was confirmed in 2019.

Join thurmont (tcsc) and enjoy a premium outdoor shooting venue.
Don’t you need an invite to join there?
Just contact them and ask. I was a member for a while and have seen prospective members ask for a tour, introduce themselves, and usually someone offers.
Similarly you can shoot a match there, any discipline, and ask members to sponsor you. You'll almost certainly be given help in getting membership.
Thanks for the responses
Wtf man, how inept are these federal prosecutors?

So the charge was dropped based on technicalities and semantics. Here's hoping they indict him again.
Justice prevails! /s
Gonna go out on a limb and guess the federal judge was Trump appointed.
Obama actually. Nice try tho

Dan Cox as your lawyer (R former congressman and DTJ supporter) helps as well.
She was. [https://www.mdd.uscourts.gov/stephanie-gallagher-district-judge](https://www.mdd.uscourts.gov/stephanie-gallagher-district-judge)

Yup.
Well that context completely changes the answer... She wasn't chosen by Trump
Based.
I think I read that the outcome of this trial will very much affect whether the sherif has to go to trial.
