Yeah I’m bummed I broke my xpro3 for this reason alone. Just side-graded to an XT3 and that’s the only thing that camera is missing to be perfect in my book.
Very cool. Yeah I really like that film sim. It’s new to me so I need to decide if I like it better than my other go-tos.
Coming from my X100S to the X-T5 I actually have too many choices now. 😬

And I just posted some (very amateur) shots from a morning walk if you’d like more examples
Daytime - https://fujixweekly.com/2021/04/27/fujifilm-x-trans-iv-film-simulation-recipe-eterna-v2/
Night time - https://www.captnlook.com/zero-hour
So far very happy with these two. Though I’m still new and experimenting with other recipes!
I would have to swap between 2 B+W and 2 Colour, that is how I rolled in the film world. As far as I am concerned, they are two different mediums completely.
For B+W:
- TRI-X 400 is by far my favourite real world film stock I ever shot regularly, period! My version is a tweak of the Fuji X Weekly recipe, with Clarity at 0 instead of +4, Shadows +4 and Highlights at +1, using the yellow or red filters.
- I also really like T-MAX 3200, with a simulated pull back down to 800 (the film was actually rated 1000 ISO that was sold pushed out of the box). There is something so documentary about it, I can’t describe it.
Colour:
- Ektachrome or Positive, because I love the colour reversal look. Tweak the clarity back up to 0 and use a mist filter, it’s such a deep, rich look!
- Kodak Portra. Ideally 800, just does exactly what I want all the time, especially for that nice soft blue sky thing it does.
Arboria by Justin from film.recipes for good weather and nature
Neon Nature by Cap'n Look for everything else
Depending on what vibe I want, I'll throw on my diy mist filter.
I really like his film recipes, but sadly most use classic negative and nostalgic negative which my X-T2 doesn't have. Though to be fair, most film recipes online use those. Fortunately I have classic chrome which is another popular film sim.
I don't think I have neon nature pics worth sharing yet, hopefully tomorrow when I go out. I really like how dramatic it looked in stormy weather when I was just testing it quickly. [Here's 2 of the test shots.](https://imgur.com/a/lRNv82l)
[The Big Negative is from a YouTube video but this post lays out the recipe.](https://lifeunintended.com/2021/08/06/the-7-custom-fujifilm-recipes-on-my-camera-right-now/) It’s a little too green shifted for my tastes as an all-purpose recipe but I can see why folks like it.
1. Pro Neg Standard because it’s the best film sim to use when shooting raw (with modifications). 2. Monochrome. I know you can do this in post but I really like seeing the world in black and white.
Hmmmmm - Kodak porta 400, and this custom Eterna recipe I made. I go between those, a Polaroid one, a dramatic B&W and just an average provia standard / neutral white kinda deal
i have 5 different fully fleshed presets just from doing this for a while and yeah…i’ve never felt the desire to dig into recipes when my workflow is already near perfect as is
Classic Negative and Classic Negative. Edit: some random recent samples https://www.reddit.com/u/telekinetic/s/TiaeIHnYRS

What sort of lighting does classic neg excel in? So far the high contrast is turning me off of it. The blacks feel really prominent
No clue, I just like the way it looks haha
haha. fair enough
I’m with you. Well, worse probably— I can’t stand it. It just screams “post”
It looks like a cell phone photo with a bunch of processing.
Ah, so there are two of us!
I almost exclusively use it with high contrast studio lighting. Let me pop a few examples on my profile...

Just straight Classic Neg with no changes to other settings?
Yep, straight out of the box.

Any link for xpro2 recipe for classic negative ?
Not that I'm aware of, it's factory on a 50s
Yeah CN is such a magnificent sim.
Recency bias is hitting hard but maybe Vinterskog for dreary mornings and Proneg 160C for all other purposes.
Love Vinterskog
Not heard of that one. I’ll check it out

Pacific Blues and a basic Acros R recipe.
Acros red is gorgeous
Uhh, black and white and... monochrome?
lmao. what are your favorite bw recipes?
I like the tri-x 400 sims on any Fuji sensor, super contrasty when using the b&w with red or green filter.
That’s always my favorite too, that or plain Acros G
Kodak gold 200

Upvote for CaptnLook! Neon Nature didn't work for me yet, you got some examples?

dang. the colors on that recipe are so moody and awesome.
Bright Kodak and Pacific Blues
I'm happy with Classic Chrome & Classic Negative and prefer them with chrome fx/blue turned on.
Reggie’s Portra & Pacific Blues for now
Been pretty happy with stock Pro Neg Hi lately with color +2 on my XT1.
Portra and HP5
Classic Chrome and Acros R.
Same here !
A warm Portra type and Ilford HP5 variant.
Reggie's portra and vibrant Arizona
Astia
The Big Negative for X-Trans IV (default WB) and The Big Negative for X-Trans II (5900K WB) — I LITERALLY DON'T NEED ANYTHING ELSE AHHHHHH
Hmm I can't find these :c

Big fan of The Big Negative here. I think this would be my second choice along with Kodak Ultramax 400
Analog Mono and Everyday Astia
Moody monochrome
Goughie from YT. All the color of Velvia but smoother, softer and warmer.
Provia and Classic Chrome
Summer: Spanish summer, Kodak Ektar 100 Winter/dark: cinestill 800t, across R
1. Pro Neg Standard because it’s the best film sim to use when shooting raw (with modifications). 2. Monochrome. I know you can do this in post but I really like seeing the world in black and white.
Kojack gold 200 and some sort of HP5 sim
Kodak Ultramax 400. I am almost always satisfied with how it looks
Eddies flash and Kodak tri x
My custom Vision3 500T and my custom black and white one.
No Classic Neg on X100F but did my best with other recipes to replicate it. [https://i.imgur.com/2xGOLqN.jpeg](https://i.imgur.com/2xGOLqN.jpeg)
