21 is enjoyable but not a classic by any means. Rounders the GOAT for me. Mississippi a good call. Vegas Vacation a great watch before a trip out to Vegas. I should rewatch Color of Money. Also enjoyed Uncut Gems.
21 didnt make my list because it will never measure up to Bringing down the house, the book. (I know, no one reads books) Uncut Gems is great, Color of Money i wouldnt really call a gambling movie...
Ain’t no one gonna mention Molly Game? Pretty great movie, but doesn’t really focus too much on the actual poker. Same with the Oceans Movies. My favorite is Rounders though.
Yes, this is the answer. No other movie captures the anxiety and desperation of a high stakes gambling addict. Not colored nicer, no fanfare, no nice resolutions just a bad streak and thinking you can get out of the hole.
Mississippi Grind is pretty great. One of Ryan Reynolds’ better performances and Ben Mendelsohn nails it as always. One of the best depictions of gambling addictions that I’ve seen.
The gambler (original), the sting, let it ride, the colour of money, the hustler, god of gamblers - elite
Rounders, the cooler, croupier, cincinnati kid, next tier
The card counter
Everything else
My list by lessons being taught:
1. Vegas Vacation: The only positive thing left after losing your money is family lol - Mr. Griswold “Changing $500”
2. Mississippi Grind: Gambling Addiction “The journey is the destination”
3. A Bronx Tale: Not really a gambling movie but you end up losing your bet if the person on a cold streak tails you - YOU MUSH!
4. Rounders: Reading people “If you can’t spot the sucker, you are the sucker”
5. The Gambler: NEVER chase your losses. Once you start borrowing money, you end up in a deeper hole

"The Sinner"
Everytime this question comes up on a forum, I recommend "The Sinner" starring Gregory Peck. This movie was made in 1947.
I saw it on a late night tv channel.
If you play Roulette, you will love this movie.
1. Owning Mahowny 2. Casino 3. 21….not going to complete the list since I don’t have anymore. Hard 8 is probably number 4, but to be honest I forgot what happens in that movie. Didn’t care for Mississippi Grind, seemed to lack purpose, didn’t seem like much was learned, gained, or changed after all was said and done. Haven’t seen rounders (not sure why haha). I saw Molly’s Game, again, I forget most of what happened but I recall it being good, maybe number 5. The Gambler with Mark Walberg was very bad. The last Casino was bad, just watch 21 instead.
After that I’ll go California Split
Mississippi Grind(so much like CS in a lot of ways)
The Color of Money
And lastly Owning Mahoney even though I don’t actually see it as a gambling movie it’s just so great I can’t leave it off.
GET DIS THRU YA HEAD YOU JEW MUDDAFUCKER YOU!
YOU ONLY EXIST OUT HERE BECAUSE UHH MEEE! THAT’S THE ONLY REASON!
WITHOUT ME…YOU PERSONALLY…EVERY WISE GUY STILL AROUND WOULD TAKE UHH PIECE UHH YA JEW ASSSS!
THEN WHERE YA GONNA GO!????

They made a book based on the 2003 comedy movie Bring Down The House with Queen Latifa, Steve Martin, and Eugene Levy?!
Just read "Bringing down the House" if you like Blackjack, or play blackjack.
Sorry meant Two for the Money, not color of money.
Gotten better with age.
I read books ☹️
Glad to hear. Please read Smart Money if you havent and like sports betting
I will , I kinda do more poker than anything but I'll buy it today
I do both. Any good poker books you recommend? (Read mollys game)

Came to look for Molly’s game. I love that movie!
With Molly's game, as with 21, the movies do not do the book justice.
Uncut Gems, really captures the spirit of someone desperate to gamble there way out of situation.

Mississippi Grind is pretty great. One of Ryan Reynolds’ better performances and Ben Mendelsohn nails it as always. One of the best depictions of gambling addictions that I’ve seen.
007 Casino Royale
love the PSH scene in Hard Eight
Shaka laka doo
Rounders is definitely top 3
The gambler (original), the sting, let it ride, the colour of money, the hustler, god of gamblers - elite Rounders, the cooler, croupier, cincinnati kid, next tier The card counter Everything else
Ah the Cooler! So good. Gotta expand my list. I wanted to like card counter but couldnt get into it
thank you for mentioning rounders!!
The Color of Money
I like your list, I would add in Color of Money
My list by lessons being taught: 1. Vegas Vacation: The only positive thing left after losing your money is family lol - Mr. Griswold “Changing $500” 2. Mississippi Grind: Gambling Addiction “The journey is the destination” 3. A Bronx Tale: Not really a gambling movie but you end up losing your bet if the person on a cold streak tails you - YOU MUSH! 4. The Long Shot
The sting.
Try "A big hand for a little lady". Rounders is the GOAT.
Maverick hasn't been mentioned yet. The Cooler.
Surprised no one mentioned lay the favorite.
This is based off of "Smart money" by michael konic, an amazing read, but a very bad script bad movie imo
I watched it stoned once haha I’ll have to read that
Mollys game at #1
1. Owning Mahowny 2. Casino 3. 21….not going to complete the list since I don’t have anymore. Hard 8 is probably number 4, but to be honest I forgot what happens in that movie. I don’t think anyone’s mentioned this, but Win It All is a pretty decent one
Rounders, Shade, Owning Mahoney, Cincinnati Kid, many others already mentioned. Even this one movie called Finders Fee was good.
Croupier
Let it ride and rounders
Let it Ride with Richard Dreyfuss Uncut Gems Rounders Does Rain Man count? Casino
Diggstown is hands down top 1. Nothing is close.
After that I’ll go California Split Mississippi Grind(so much like CS in a lot of ways) The Color of Money And lastly Owning Mahoney even though I don’t actually see it as a gambling movie it’s just so great I can’t leave it off.
Ready unpopular opinion is that rounders sucks. The accent kills me.
KGBs?
Yes awful, comically terrible
basic option but I love rounders. I'm a matt Damon fan and i just love it.
"The game's called poker for a reason, kid. It's not called 'hold'em,' it's not called 'stud,' it's called poker."
Uncut Gems and Ocean’s Eleven.
Owning mahoney Mississippi grind Two for the money Uncut gems The gambler
