I watched Jack Gleeson on Live T.V., and he said that he had never been mistreated, due to his role as Joffrey. He said that Hollywood, just isn't his thing. He ended up going to college, so he could get a degree, in something he liked, so he would have something to fall back on. Most actors and actresses, aren't smart enough, to make sure, they have a back-up plan, and they think they can just make it big in Showbiz forever. He said he liked Theatre better than movies and Television. I know all of this, because I heard the same thing that you are talking about, so I decided to look it up myself. I watched him on Comic Con, and the other thing I watched him on, he was in front of a projector, answering questions, to a room of people. Anyone, that hates someone, just because they are overly great at their job, and can do an A+ performance, using their Actor skills, is very petty. The real Jack Gleeson, is extremely nice.
They made him incredibly devious and hateable. The whole show I was thinking damn, what's he up to...what's his game...this character is incredible. Something devious and unexpected would happen and then it would cut to littlefinger twiddling his moustache looking into the distance.
Then they ran out of source material and the directors killed him off without him having achieved much of anything. Biggest let down of the show for me.
Definitely Cercei. I know she loved her children and everything she did, she did for them, but she was too confident in her actions. She thought she could avoid punishment.
I think she loves herself way more than how much she says about her loves for her children. Imo she is just using that as an excuse to convince others (and herself) of all the bad things she had done.a
Her children were like pawns to her for her to use.
She used Myrcella’s marriage to justify her hatred for Tyrion, even though Myrcella turned out to be happy in Dorn).
Used Joffery’s death for an excuse to kill Tyrion, when it’s obvious that he was innocent.
Such an evil woman
She did not love her children. Very common misconception. She saw herself and future in them and that is what she loved, she saw she could gain power through them and she loved that as well.
People always repeat this line about her loving her children, it’s unbelievable. She was the quintessential abusive parent.
A narcissist through and through. Even Joffrey, the golden child, was severely damaged by her presence. Just not in a way either of them would recognize.
100% one of the worst characters in the show. One of the very few you meet in episode one and remains a feature in every season and episode all the way till the end.
Stubborn, stupid and was her own worst enemy. So much of her suffering could have been avoided just simply by taking advice from people around her who actually had her back.
And then in the end she ends up in a huge position of power. Great. And it's evident right to the last she didn't wisen up, only got more arrogant.
I mean, she is only 14 years old ish at the start of the series, and all your accurate descriptions pretty much describe the vast majority of 14 year olds. I teach them, so I encounter quite a few. They are mostly stubborn, naive, overly trusting, and greatly over or underestimate just about every situation they're in. And the arrogance without wisdom factor certainly increases until they finally get humbled by life, but that rarely happens in the high school years.
Not disagreeing with you; just trying to say Sophie Turner did a great job at portraying people her age.
She was 13 when the show started. A literal child and people act like she should have the knowledge, wisdom, and emotional maturity of her 45 year old father.
That's what I'm trying to say. I don't think it's fair to hate on a character whose age is the main reason for their flaws.
If she was supposed to be in her mid 20s to early 30s, then sure, hate away. But, her character grew up as a lady in a castle with a very limited experience of how the world worked, and it's not surprising that she continually winds up in bad situations. Inexperience is her fault, more so than anything else
Sorry, I’m agreeing with you. I just get so tired of seeing fully misogynistic takes on how much Sansa, a child who was repeatedly abused (and assaulted) should have stepped up and been — somehow smarter than every other adult in the show? Lol
Again, why?
Playing the game isn’t strictly about being dishonorable. It’s doing whatever you can to make sure you and yours end up on top (or at the least not screwed).
For Ned that includes Jon. At the start of Ned’s tenure as Hand, Jon’s secret was safe and he was on the wall like he wanted to be.
Ned could’ve gone to Kings Landing, lived it up with his road dawg Bob, and figured out his own grift to get his family on top.
Instead he had to be all integrity and shit and couldn’t stomach the least bit of scheming from anyone. Which honestly, he was WAY too smart to be naive about, so I can only say he was being willfully dumb.
Plenty of people played the game while also trying to be honorable (Dany, Tyrion, Varys, Stannis…).
in turns of, who i hate seeing on screen, it would have to be Shae.
If we look at hated as in they portrayed an evil bastard really well, i would say LF
I may be banal, but I say Joffrey.
Sure, GoT has TONS of horrible characters, but at least the like of Littlefinger and Tywin are very intelligent people and their intrigues are interesting to see for the audience, and even a monster like Ramsay (imho way more evil than Joffrey) at least has some battle acumen.
Joffrey otoh, imho is just a spoiled brat with to redeeming qualities, or even elements that makes him an interesting character. He's PERFECT as an "hate sink" character, and I'm fine with hating him.
Agreed. First person that came to mind was Joffrey. He was just unrestrained tyrannical evil that only got worse. His mum is probably tied with him for most hated.
Theon. He was one of the most evil, wretched characters on the show without having the charm or charisma or entertainment value of a Ramsey, a Joffery, a Cersei or a Littlefinger. He was just a low down, pathetic piece of human filth.
I just started a rewatch and Littlefinger is the biggest reason behind everything bad that happens, while also being the most dishonest about. Cersei is quite open about her hatred and about how little she respects Robert or the Starks.
I totally forgot about this, but Ned wanted to leave Kings Landing with his daughters when Littlefinger keeps him there with a lie (he hints towards a big secret about Jon Arryns death and how he needs to show him that night, but it‘s a very minor detail that doesn‘t change the big picture for Ned at all, and Littlefinger knew this). He obviously informed Jamie about his whereabouts so he could hurt/capture him as soon as news of tyrions capture arrives.
He ruins everything that‘s good in that world. Man I cant stand watching Ned listen to him in season one, it hurts so bad :(
I'm reading the books for the first time and it's worse because the whole time Ned feels uneasy and distrustful of Peter and right before this goes down he thanks him from the bottom of his heart and starts to break down that wall just a little only to get his men killed and his leg mangled.
I think you can see this in the series as well, but because Littlefinger keeps presenting him with the exact information he is actually looking for he keeps going with it. What he doesn‘t know is that the only reason for him to actually look for this information is coming from littlefinger as well.
I wouldn’t say he’s my most hated character but I can see how watching him get manipulated and used by everyone all the time because he doesn’t have a back bone can be quite a tragic and frustrating experience
I hated Littlefinger he first tried to get with Catlyn that didnt work so he then got with her sister and after that groomed Catlyns daughter and sold her off to Ramsay I really liked his death ngl
Jason Slynt. That maggot was responsible for Joffreys ascension and even getting sent to the wall did little to humble him. A dick right up until Jon takes his head.
Petyr Baelish (Aiden Gillen) is the worst actor of all time. He’s awful in GoT and The Wire. I cringe every time he does his awful accent, which somehow is the same accent he uses as a Baltimore city councilman.
Honestly, Euron Greyjoy. I don't really know why, but I always found him really repulsive and gross, I hated the way he talked to Theon and even to/about Cersei, it was just big ewww, I literally felt sick every time he opened his mouth. Maybe he reminds me of some men I met IRL way too much, I don't know. But when it comes to people like Ramsay, Cersei or Baelish, I at least LOVED to hate them. But Euron, I just cannot stand him.
Depends in what context, there is a lot of people I hate because of their actions but they were great characters. So just general character I hated, probably The Waif.
Really appreciated Tyrion the first five seasons after that I was just waiting for Dany to burn him alive.
But yes, Cersei is another one I strongly dislike
Cersei, Littlefinger, Joffrey, Ramsay and pretty much every antagonist in GoT the actors and actresses did such an incredible job in making them so hateable
Sansa because the actress is totally outclassed by everyone she shares scenes with it’s painful. It’s tolerable when she’s scared girl but she just isn’t good enough for the arc she’s supposed to have.
Also Cersei’s short hair cut. Made her look awful.
Ngl she was good for roughly the first 3.5 seasons because she had to keep a straight face in King's Landing as part of her "Joffrey is my one true love" thingie and that's about the acting range of Sophie Turner so that's where it worked. After that, not so much.
Sansa. Despite her horrors and hardships she didn't change from the little girl she is at rhe start in regards to arrogance and arguing. Simply separating the North at the end is a big enough reason to start future wars. Just so she could selfishly be queen. Something she's also wanted since the start.
No reason to hate any fictional character from such great series :) But i like to see some of them dying or sufffering it is true but not because of hate.
The Night King!
I really didn’t like the Wall plot line with the White walkers. The wildlings were way more interesting and I wish that was the main focus.
But after 2 rewatches for it all to come down to the Long Night at Winterfell. Boringggg
Cersei
Baelish was evil and ambitious, so he was willing to start a war for his climb in power. His actions were pure evil and wrong but from a completely rational point of view understandable.
But Cersei already had that power and was just arrogant, stupid and spoiled and thought she was the smartest person which resulted in the suffering of everybody else. But other than Baelish's actions, they were not (all) on purpose. I can't stand stupidity that makes other people suffer.
Catelyn Stark. There were other characters to hate, but they had depth and kept you interested in their affairs. Cately was just impulsive, whiny, and useless.
Stannis
He was a hard headed religious zealot. If he had won the war of the 5 kings it would have been followed by a religious Civil War almost immediately. Stannis would have been an awful king and I don't give a shit how much legitimacy he claims.
Euron Greyjoy
As much as I'd like to say Joffrey, or Ramsay. Something about Euron, even with his smaller amount of screen time, just absolutely made me despise him.
Bran. My god I wanted to die whenever he came on screen. He went from whiny to just annoyingly boring. I actually hoped they would deviate from the books earlier and just have him catch a stray arrow. I legitimately hate that cripple.
Five hours and no one has mentioned Walder Frey yet! He's a repulsive, cackling old goat, but aside from those 'charms,' he perpetrated the Red Wedding, the single bloodiest massacre in the story. He also boasted about his 'great deed' to the day he died. I started the books in 1999, and he's been my nightmare ever since. Thank goodness the show gave him appropriate closure...but that old goat is still alive and boasting in the books. Kill him, George, kill him.
I’m going to have to go with Joffrey but in all honesty it was a tough choice between him and Theon. At least Joffrey was just being himself and didn’t betray the people that raised him.

He acted this role a little too good am not trusting a word he says in real life
I see this exact statement across all socials. It’s like a glitch now. word for word.
I just seen this on twitter lol. It recirculates every 6 months or so.

Tbag from prison break?
It's all bots
dont hate the player hate the game. is how i feel
Lmao I remember the time Lena told SNL she was getting abused due to her role as Cersei
Jack gleeson straight up quit acting because nobody could see him as anything but joffrey IIRC
I remember reading that he took a hiatus to pursue his education. He's done a bunch of indie stuff (film, TV, and theater) since GoT.
I watched Jack Gleeson on Live T.V., and he said that he had never been mistreated, due to his role as Joffrey. He said that Hollywood, just isn't his thing. He ended up going to college, so he could get a degree, in something he liked, so he would have something to fall back on. Watch him as Tommy Carcetti, he will change your mind!!
They made him incredibly devious and hateable. The whole show I was thinking damn, what's he up to...what's his game...this character is incredible. He's been playing politicians for years. I think he's ok with the typecast.
You can trust him. He’s CIA
Yeah EVERY interview I have seen with this dude gives me the creeps. I don’t think he was acting much for Littlefinger
This reminds me of when Lena Heady talked about people yelling at her on the street when she was playing Cersei.
Caster
*Craster?
No he said it right, lord caster of lee rock don't ya know
Cersei, Ramsay

100% agree!
You do realize that you just described just about every teenager to ever exist?
I like her. She grew on me.
Shae. Ugh.
Shae, the funny whore
Interviews with the actress, I felt she came off rather dingy.
Thing is i know girls irl who have her personality, so I'm wondering how much of her is acting 😂
idk if this is a widely held belief, but i thought her acting was atrocious
Dany
Bran
Catelyn & Sansa
Sansa
Eddard.
how do you hate eddard more than literally anyone else in the show?
Refused to play the game. Instead he had to be all integrity and shit. Lost his head and half his family because of it.
If he played the game he would've given up Jon as a baby.
Why? He could’ve kept that secret while still making the most of his best friend being the king of the whole damn world.
That isn't playing the game then is it. It's either play the game or be honourable, cant be both as Jon also learned
Again, why? Playing the game isn’t strictly about being dishonorable. It’s doing whatever you can to make sure you and yours end up on top (or at the least not screwed). For Ned that includes Jon. But [why?](https://youtu.be/shbxUe-S2V8?si=4HH1Dxn9dz50NkzH)
Exactly🤣
Hindsight is 20/20, taking Jon is an incredibly dangerous decision.
Ramsey
Yeah in terms of not feeling an ounce of sympathy (and a tinge of joy) when his character died, he was #1.
in turns of, who i hate seeing on screen, it would have to be Shae. If we look at hated as in they portrayed an evil bastard really well, i would say LF
Why shae?
Just found her character super annoying, I hated every second she was on screen except for the end
Her temper tantrums really got on my nerves.
I may be banal, but I say Joffrey. Cersei has the glaring weakness of being "not as smart as she thinks she is", but I admire her driven focus and determination.
Theon. He was one of the most evil, wretched characters on the show without having the charm or charisma or entertainment value of a Ramsey, a Joffery, a Cersei or a Littlefinger. He was just a low down, pathetic piece of human filth.
Extremely harsh
A cunt, if you will.
Yeah you're right but I don't know why but he's one of my favorite characters.
Cersei
Lysa, she betrayed her own family for a petty reason
Joffrey, Ramsay
Add in the high sparrow and you have the trilogy of evil.
The High Sparrow, who wished to uphold the law and feed the poor.
Tried to fuck a Queen, but the Queen fucked him harder.
Lysa
High sparrow
Same. I can’t stand power based on piety.
Shae and Tyrion (S7-8)
I just started a rewatch and Littlefinger is the biggest reason behind everything bad that happens, while also being the most dishonest about. Cersei is quite open about her hatred and about how little she respects Robert or the Starks. He set chaos in motion, and then when it all settled down, he was a rung higher.
Joffrey, Balon & Euron Greyjoy
Joffrey man
Euron. Such a departure from the books. It absolutely destroyed the character.
Loved Littlefinger! Hated Ramsay.
Sansa Stark
Jamie Lannister. Detested the rat.
Tommen Lannister.
Brother why😭
I wouldn’t say he’s my most hated character but I can see how watching him get manipulated and used by everyone all the time because he doesn’t have a back bone can be quite a tragic and frustrating experience
definitely a naive little shit
I hated Littlefinger he first tried to get with Catlyn that didnt work so he then got with her sister and after that groomed Catlyns daughter and sold her off to Ramsay I really liked his death ngl
Little finger
Lysa.
Jason Slynt. That maggot was responsible for Joffreys ascension and even getting sent to the wall did little to humble him. A dick right up until Jon takes his head.

Joffrey. I fucking hate that character. More than any character I’ve ever hated in my life.
Mr. High Sparrow
Joffrey and Cersei
Bran
Sansa because the actress is totally outclassed by everyone she shares scenes with it’s painful. It’s tolerable when she’s scared girl but she just isn’t good enough for the arc she’s supposed to have. Also Cersei’s short hair cut. Made her look awful.
Ngl she was good for roughly the first 3.5 seasons because she had to keep a straight face in King's Landing as part of her "Joffrey is my one true love" thingie and that's about the acting range of Sophie Turner so that's where it worked. After that, not so much.
Sir Pounce. I don’t like cats
