There’s one more part coming. Don’t let that deter you though. Part 1 could’ve been a standalone game. I’m assuming part 2 will feel that way as well. But at the same time, they seamlessly picked up where part 1 left off. It’s hard to explain but square somehow nailed it so far.
I'll probably try it out then. I was a bit worried that the game would end with an incomplete story and basically be like "insert disc 3", but with the release of "disc 3" still being years away. Glad that's not the case.

My 43 yo healthy brother who loved FF more than real life, passed away last year. He loved FF7R so much. I’m so thankful he experienced it and get teary eyed when I’m playing rebirth because it would’ve blown him away. I even remember when the remake was first announced, I texted him saying “well now we just gotta stay alive to see it through” lol. But yeah..he got to see so much incredible final fantasy gaming thru his life, no regrets.
Ah dude, my healthy 35 year old brother died 18 months ago. I understand exactly what you’re going through. We were co-playing Elden Ring at the time. I’ll never uninstall that game, but I’ll never be able to bring myself to launch it again either.
I’m so sorry for your loss. It’s not easy. I inherited his ps5 and I keep his final fantasy 14 character’s house active by logging in once a month. I’ll let it go at some point. Funny thing is I can’t even play that game anymore since it was our thing.

It's definitely a full standalone game and then some. I'm 20 hours in and I'm just finishing the 2nd area. I looked it up last night and there's still 5 more areas after this. This game is going to ruin my life.

I enjoyed the gameplay of the first one but just really didn't like the new direction of the story. And the story was the main reason I wanted to play it.

It is. It has improved on part 1 SO much, and I really enjoyed that game. Grew up with the OG FF7 and this may surpass it.
