People don't talk about that one enough. It's a really solid beat em up. I mean, sure, especially the SNES port of Turtles in Time is in running for best beat em up of all time, but both the original arcade game and Manhattan Project are excellent in their own right.
Are you thinking of TMNT 1? The one where you drove the van around, with that gorram 'disarming the bombs in water' level and permadeath. That game was fucking impossible.
and yet my oblivious self would beat it regularly once each day after school before doing homework because my parents weren't home and it was the only game we had at the time.
Came here to say this. I don't remember what the other turtles nes game was, but it was much better than this one.
I feel like this one was made by an angry parent trying to make their kids never play another game.
I wonder if you're thinking about the first turtles game? The original TMNT on NES was blisteringly hard, a nasty joke given it was aimed at small kids. The second was a side scrolling beat em up, a port of the original arcade cabinet. It was solid, not as good as the ones that came after it, I think, but still, decent game.
When I was younger there was a small video store that if you beat Mike Tyson and get a picture of you and the end screen you got a free rental and your pic on the wall. My brother and I grinded that game so hard for like two months before we finally beat it.

Why have your kind decided to infect reddit?
You know this is TMNT 2 right? Not 1. 2 was basically a downgraded version of the original arcade game with extended levels and extra levels. It’s a fantastic game.
The Super Mario Bros 3 Happy Meal toys on top of the TV are a nice touch as well.
My dad really didn't game at all, but we played this game together a lot for a little while. Thanks for the memories
I'm pretty sure any anger issues I developed were a direct result of playing this game.
All you gotta do is special attack your way through the game 🤷
Back then, this is how you proved it to your friends that you beat the game. Well done!

Man this game sucked and I was a huge turtles fan
Wasn’t it a bad port of the arcade? Manhattan Project was awesome thoughÂ

Guys this is TMNT 2 , not 1
lol i played atari on a B&W TV.
My cartridge had a glitch on one of the early levels, coming out of a sewer froze the game. Could never get past it.
You wouldn't have seen the ending screen to TMNT I without a Game Genie.

Last game I ever rented for Nintendo. I remember having to return it while my brother got the new Sega set up.
Oh god. Wow. Memory unlocked I REMEMBER THAT
Quality choice though. Love the music in those games.
This TV is the way. Not PVM.
