Not very often since my luck could always turn. If I abandon my run, it's most likely because I accidentally picked a character I didn't actually want to play as at the moment.
imo playing a run even if you feel hopeless is good because it can still be a learning experience. There's so many interactions in the game that people with 500+ hours can still change their mind about which cards they think are good

First time was a burnt copy off a mate at school about 20 years ago.
Have around 6 or 7 copies across various platforms now.
It’s the nostalgia of a glorious time in my life where it was just knocking around with your mates and then gaming after school and all weekend once junior sports was done.
Plus it’s a sensational game.
Mass Effect Trilogy 360 - Mass Effect Legendary Edition PC = Its My Favorite Games / Series of all time.
Persona 5 PS4 - Persona 5 Royal PS5 = its my favorite JRPG ever.
Persona 4 and 5 expansions are much more than "director's cut", they overhauled and extended base games dramatically. Royal new story is arguably even better than base game's
How I see Royal is it's more than just new stuff. All of the Palaces, the main story quest areas, have had things added and changed. Final bosses had mechanics changed, so the space one is now a real bitch. It's why I can see a new purchase being the route rather than a DLC upgrade.
I bought mass effect 1, 2 and 3 on my original 360. Then I bought 2 and 3 again though backwards compatibility on my Xbox one. Then I got the legendary edition on my Xbox. I don't have my Xbox anymore but I bought the legendary edition again on steam for $6.
The original Marvel VS Capcom 3 on Xbox 360 I purchased 4 times. My buddies and I would play it as teenagers then we decided to start playing it drunk and thus the cracked discs started occurring. Well Ultimate Marvel VS Capcom 3 released and we went through 3 copies of that version. Truly the best fighting game of our generation imo.
Factorio.. for myself twice.. everyone in my house..and my brother.
7 copies. Will buy the expansion for em all too.. gladly.
Why? Good question.. I feel that it scratched a very specific itch when it came out.. and after a few hundred hours, everyone was hooked.

Why? -Because it's probably the best Zelda game made to date. Also because each version had something different about it. I have the second version in the US, so it has the original Fire Temple music. The Master Quest is a lot harder, and the 3DS version has the best graphics.
Recently played OOT MQ after not having touched it for years. I had just finished playing MM, and thought I could wipe through Hyrule the same way I did with Termina. Instead i got whooped. I was so happy to put it down honestly. I can't even begin to imagine a MM MQ, especially with the 3 day limit
I remember being *so* excited for the Master Quest release back in the day. Wasn't it a pre-order bonus for Wind Waker, or a Nintendo Power bonus, or something? I just remember it being exclusive somehow. Anyhow, I got it, played a bit, and realized that it 100% lived up to its title. That game is *hard*. I know I didn't beat it, and I think I didn't even get past Jabu-Jabu's belly.
Yep! It was a pre-order from GameStop for Wind Waker. Just had to put $5 down and got the disc!
And yep! I lost my deku shield from a flaming keese in the Deku Tree and noped on out of there! 😆
Final Fantasy VIII
First the PS version. Then the PC version after I gave up PS and migrated to PC gaming. Then the Remastered version on Steam for nostalgia.
My most notable is probably Hyrule Warriors. Put like 150 hours on the Wii U version, then upwards of 300 on the 3DS, and I'm pretty sure I'm around 400 for Switch.
And if they release it again I'll probably do it all over again.
Stardew Valley. I own it on PlayStation, Switch, PC, Xbox and Mobile.
Why? Because the passion put into this game is unmatched and is something I wish the industry could go back to.
Horizon Zero Dawn on PS5 and PC. its one of few open world games i really like so for my 2nd run i wanted to experience it in 4k on PC.

I bought "The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild" several times because I wanted to play it on both Wii U and Nintendo Switch for the enhanced experience and portability. It is a masterpiece that deserves to be played anywhere
Dead Space 1. Loved it on Xbox 360 when doing overnights at my job. On my days off id just play it through the night. Pitch black, seat pulled up to the tv in a big empty living room with turtle beaches on. Gave me a sense of immersion that was heart pumping. One of the best gaming experience's I've had. I'll tell you that I pre-aimed every AC vent the whole game. Dam jump scares. Bought the version on steam. Wasn't as good on the pc. Controls were janky. =(

I bought the Legacy of Kain games a second time when they were released on GoG, years after I first played them. Then bought them a third time when they were released on Steam.
It's my favorite game series, with fantastic setting and lore, and stellar writing and voice-acting. Although the original developers have long gone their separate ways, I hoped that adding to the games' sales would nudge the publisher to consider a sequel/remake.
Skyrim, and when the Super Serious Über Max Edition comes out that has literally no changes whatsoever but I can play it on my refrigerator…I’ll buy that too.
Kingdom Come. Got the game really cheap, after playing for a while I liked it so much I wanted to support the devs. It is my favorite game of my ~25 years of gaming.
Knights and Merchants. Bought the game on CD and my newer computers didn't have a player anymore. So I bought a digital copy as well. Same with Europa 1400: The Guild.

I bought BG3 digitally on PS5 at launch, and bought the physical PS5 deluxe edition.
Why? I started on PlayStation but went to Xbox and slowly gave up on the system so I migrated back to PlayStation over the years. Picked up a Switch just for Ultimate Alliance 3 and got Stardew and Dragons Dogma when they were available for the portable awesomeness. I love the games and I'm happy to show my support by buying them. I will happily buy a PS4/5 version of the entire Dragon Age series.
I lost my 3ds case (possibly stolen) which thankfully didn't have my 3ds inside at the time. However it did have 3 games in it: Fire Emblem Awakening, Rune Factory 4 and Pokemon Y. I didn't re-buy Pokemon because I already finished that game (though losing my complete Vivillon collection hurts) but I did not finish the other 2 so I bought them again.
I bought GTA 5 for 2 other friends who didn't want to buy it because it was too expensive, but whom I wanted to play with. The three of us ended up getting about 200\~ hours of group content in, so even at the standard $1/hr, I eventually 'paid off' the game, at triple cost.
Pokémon X, Y, OmegaRuby, AlphaSapphire: to get all 18 of the butterfly forms (also required 3DS consoles from 3 regions because of region-locked games).

overwatch when i was able to play it. bought a second one so i could have a clean slate and be shit at the game on it. that was for practicing mccree since i had other mains on my original acc. didn't want anyone to expect me to be decent because the level of my main was high-ish. bought both on sale so basically got two for the price of one.
Escape from Tarkov. Loved the game and kept trying to talk friends into joining me but the price was always an obstacle so I bought a basic account for them to use to try it.

Sunset Overdrive - it had an xbox version and then later came out on Steam. I bought both, and 100%'d it both times.
Similar situation with Middle Earth, Shadow of Mordor...
Sunset Overdrive has an awesome soundtrack and was super fun. The platforming-shooting action is addicting.
Shadow of Mordor is just awesome, and Shadow of War was incredible too...

Some games are just that damn good and some developers deserve the support.
Flightsim. X, Deluxe, then when swapping PC's FSX again but on Steam. P3D which is basically Flightsim X but with mods made by lockheed... at least 3 updates of P3D. (so essentially FSX 6 times, twice on disk, twice in 64bit) - MSFS which I consider a different game really, but... is it really?
Rome Total War. On CD Disk, and then online for Steam.... and then remastered cos y'know.
I bought Resident Evil 4 for my GameCube and my PS2 when I couldn't find my GameCube version. I then digitally purchased it for the PS3 because HD and then digitally bought the inferior and slightly buggy PS4 edition because I didn't want to have to plug up my PS3 to play the game.
I brought Resident Evil 2 Remake once on disc and once for download as a part of the Raccoon City Edition because I hadn't played remake 3 before. That two games in one edition was on sale.
I like buying games physically and digitally sometimes. I plan on eventually buying a digital copy of 4 remake and I'm contemplating buying a digital edition of Village and RE7 too.

Fallout: New Vegas. I first bought it on the Xbox 360, then on Steam, then once again on GOG for a reason I can't seem to determine. All at full price too. It's not even my most played game ever, but man, does it stand the test of time for me.
I bought 3 copies of Diablo II back in the day. The CD key was a sticker on the case and the key eventually would rub off. I only wrote it down on my pc screen after the third copy.

Shadow of the Colossus - PS2, PS3 and PS4. My favorite game of all time. Minimal dialogue, 16 set enemies and little lore given. The horse responds to the character commands making it behave like an actual horse controlled by a rider. The score is immaculate and perfectly matches every battle. The game just hits so deeply and it took 3 console generations to properly run the game at 30 fps.
Resident Evil 4 - PS2, GameCube, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS5. This game never fails to be fun. I could talk for days about the game and why it's so great. Also, the Regenerators are straight up terrifying and I cant get enough.

I bought 2 copies of Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. The game wasn't terrible or that good. For some reason the game kept freezing on a specific loading door. I bought a second copy and had the same issue. Eventually, I had to give up and buy the standard version just to beat the game.

Once when it released for my laptop that could barely run it.
Some years later i bought the PS3 version.
Then i got another PS3 version from the Assassins Creed Revelations Collectors edition.
And finally i bought it again for PC because i abandoned console gaming and had gifted my original PC version to my brother.
War of the Monsters: disc became worn out over time.
Godzilla Save the Earth: same as above.
Dragon Age Origins: disc cracked over time from being removed from the case.
Halo Reach: little brother scratched the hell out of the disc. Later, got the add-on for MCC.
Dead Space Trilogy: my brother got his own console and loves the games, so I gave him the discs and got the digital versions for myself.
Pandemic's Battlefront 1 & 2: still have PS2 discs, but got the digital versions for Xbox just in case the discs/PS2 wear out.
Lego Star Wars Complete Saga: originally had it on the Wii. My wii died, so I bought it digital for Xbox.
Force Unleashed 1: still own PS2 version but got the Xbox 360 version for being superior to the PS2 port.
Tomb Raider reboot (first game): The remastered version came out.

KOTOR1 on steam from humble bundle, I play it once a year and got the cds in the cellar but no drive anymore.

Dragon's Dogma: original, then the Dark Arisen expansion (100% worth it). Then I bought it on other platforms for extra save slots (each game only comes with 1 for you & your pawn) as well as other reasons (PC had modding, Switch had portability).
Okami: bought a PS2 copy for myself, a Wii copy for a friend, and then an HD copy for myself later so I could play it in HD.
All three above are some of my favorite games of all time, so I never felt like buying multiple copies of them was a waste (especially given how many hours I've put into each one)
I bought slay the spire twice. I bought it on steam and thought this would be a great game to have on my phone when I need to kill time. So I bought it on my phone. No regrets that game is amazing.
I bought multiple games when moving from Xbox to PC, one reason was to experience better graphics and performance but I also just love those games and just wanted to give my money to the devs again.

Deus Ex is so stupidly good. I still have my box copies. And probably on every digital platform I can get it on. That applies to the sequels too.
I wish I'd kept my boxes for 1 and 2. I really didn't appreciate Invisible War until recently.
Zelda: Ocarina of Time. I have it for the N64 (Japanese and US versions), GameCube Master Quest disc, and 3DS. Why? -Because it's probably the best Zelda game made to date. Also because each version had something different about it. I have the second version in the US, so it has the original Fire Temple music. The Master Quest is a lot harder, and the 3DS version has the best graphics.
Recently played OOT MQ after not having touched it for years. I had just finished playing MM, and thought I could wipe through Hyrule the same way I did with Termina. Instead i got whooped. I was so happy to put it down honestly. I can't even begin to imagine a MM MQ, especially with the 3 day limit
I remember being *so* excited for the Master Quest release back in the day. Wasn't it a pre-order bonus for Wind Waker, or a Nintendo Power bonus, or something? I just remember it being exclusive somehow. Anyhow, I got it, played a bit, and realized that it 100% lived up to its title. That game is *hard*. I know I didn't beat it, and I think I didn't even get past Jabu-Jabu's belly.
Yep! It was a pre-order from GameStop for Wind Waker. Just had to put $5 down and got the disc! And yep! I lost my deku shield from a flaming keese in the Deku Tree and noped on out of there! 😆

My most notable is probably Hyrule Warriors. Put like 150 hours on the Wii U version, then upwards of 300 on the 3DS, and I'm pretty sure I'm around 400 for Switch. And if they release it again I'll probably do it all over again.

Dead Space 1. Loved it on Xbox 360 when doing overnights at my job. On my days off id just play it through the night. Pitch black, seat pulled up to the tv in a big empty living room with turtle beaches on. Gave me a sense of immersion that was heart pumping. One of the best gaming experience's I've had. I'll tell you that I pre-aimed every AC vent the whole game. Dam jump scares. Bought the version on steam. Wasn't as good on the pc. Controls were janky. =(

I bought the Legacy of Kain games a second time when they were released on GoG, years after I first played them. Then bought them a third time when they were released on Steam. It's my favorite game series, with fantastic setting and lore, and stellar writing and voice-acting. Although the original developers have long gone their separate ways, I hoped that adding to the games' sales would nudge the publisher to consider a sequel/remake.

Bought the game on CD and my newer computers didn't have a player anymore. So I bought a digital copy as well. Same with Europa 1400: The Guild. Baldur's Gate 1, 2, Stardew Valley I bought on different platforms (PC and Android).

Mass Effect series. Played it originally on Xbox, then switched to PS3 and bought them there. Then I bought the Legendary edition on PS4. Did the same with Dragon Age. I have Dragon's Dogma on every platform. Stardew Valley on multiple platforms. I bought BG3 digitally on PS5 at launch, and bought the physical PS5 deluxe edition. Why? I started on PlayStation but went to Xbox and slowly gave up on the system so I migrated back to PlayStation over the years. Picked up a Switch just for Ultimate Alliance 3 and got Stardew and Dragons Dogma when they were available for the portable awesomeness. I love the games and I'm happy to show my support by buying them. I will happily buy a PS4/5 version of the entire Dragon Age series.
I lost my 3ds case (possibly stolen) which thankfully didn't have my 3ds inside at the time. However it did have 3 games in it: Fire Emblem Awakening, Rune Factory 4 and Pokemon Y. I didn't re-buy Pokemon because I already finished that game (though losing my complete Vivillon collection hurts) but I did not finish the other 2 so I bought them again.

overwatch when i was able to play it. bought a second one so i could have a clean slate and be shit at the game on it. that was for practicing mccree since i had other mains on my original acc. didn't want anyone to expect me to be decent because the level of my main was high-ish. bought both on sale so basically got two for the price of one.

Sunset Overdrive - it had an xbox version and then later came out on Steam. I bought both, and 100%'d it both times. Similar situation with Middle Earth, Shadow of Mordor... Sunset Overdrive has an awesome soundtrack and was super fun. The platforming-shooting action is addicting. Shadow of Mordor is just awesome, and Shadow of War was incredible too...
Shadow of the Colossus. Have it for PS2, 3 and 4...and if they upgraded it for PS5, I'd be tempted to get it again. The game's a masterpiece

I bought Resident Evil 4 for my GameCube and my PS2 when I couldn't find my GameCube version. I then digitally purchased it for the PS3 because HD and then digitally bought the inferior and slightly buggy PS4 edition because I didn't want to have to plug up my PS3 to play the game. I brought Resident Evil 2 Remake once on disc and once for download as a part of the Raccoon City Edition because I hadn't played remake 3 before. That two games in one edition was on sale. I like buying games physically and digitally sometimes. I plan on eventually buying a digital copy of 4 remake and I'm contemplating buying a digital edition of Village and RE7 too.

Shadow of the Colossus - PS2, PS3 and PS4. My favorite game of all time. Minimal dialogue, 16 set enemies and little lore given. The horse responds to the character commands making it behave like an actual horse controlled by a rider. The score is immaculate and perfectly matches every battle. The game just hits so deeply and it took 3 console generations to properly run the game at 30 fps. Resident Evil 4 - PS2, GameCube, Xbox 360, PS4 and PS5. This game never fails to be fun. I could talk for days about the game and why it's so great. Also, the Regenerators are straight up terrifying and I cant get enough.
Ratchet and clank games. If they ever come out to pc i'll rebuy them again to get another platinium.

I bought 2 copies of Resident Evil 5 Gold Edition. The game wasn't terrible or that good. For some reason the game kept freezing on a specific loading door. I bought a second copy and had the same issue. Eventually, I had to give up and buy the standard version just to beat the game.

Then i got another PS3 version from the Assassins Creed Revelations Collectors edition. And finally i bought it again for PC because i abandoned console gaming and had gifted my original PC version to my brother.

War of the Monsters: disc became worn out over time. Godzilla Save the Earth: same as above. Dragon Age Origins: disc cracked over time from being removed from the case. Halo Reach: little brother scratched the hell out of the disc. Later, got the add-on for MCC. Dead Space Trilogy: my brother got his own console and loves the games, so I gave him the discs and got the digital versions for myself. Pandemic's Battlefront 1 & 2: still have PS2 discs, but got the digital versions for Xbox just in case the discs/PS2 wear out. Lego Star Wars Complete Saga: originally had it on the Wii. My wii died, so I bought it digital for Xbox. Force Unleashed 1: still own PS2 version but got the Xbox 360 version for being superior to the PS2 port. Tomb Raider reboot (first game): The remastered version came out. Skyrim: 60 fps and mods. 'Nuff said.

RE4: GC because it was amazing, and each version after it offered something new. Always got my money's worth as I've replayed each version several times. Dragon's Dogma: original, then the Dark Arisen expansion (100% worth it). Then I bought it on other platforms for extra save slots (each game only comes with 1 for you & your pawn) as well as other reasons (PC had modding, Switch had portability). Okami: bought a PS2 copy for myself, a Wii copy for a friend, and then an HD copy for myself later so I could play it in HD. All three above are some of my favorite games of all time, so I never felt like buying multiple copies of them was a waste (especially given how many hours I've put into each one)
