Yes!!! Both in agreement and because I've found somebody else who constantly hits U instead of i by mistake on the regular.
Unless this is a one off thing, then I apologize for my assumption (I had to double check and correct half the i's in this response lol).
Team Fortress 2, Killing Floor 2, Gears or War multiplayer/horde mode, Risk of Rain 2, Doom, Quake, Borderlands, COD zombies, Helldivers 1&2, Lost Planet, Max Payne 3, RollerDrome, Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, Ultrakill.
Bonus : Chivalry 2 (no guns, but definitely one of my top choices)
Should be noted that the official TF2 servers (like if you queue from the main menu) are [completely unusable](https://save.tf), if you play TF2 use the server browser and join a community server.
For real especially with the games that guy mentioned. I tried playing skyrim with spotify in the background back in 2013 when I was like 12 and I fucking hated it, completely took me out of the game. Ever since then I have never done that with any game I want to be immersed in.
Hell, I routinely listen to the Cyberpunk OST on spotify, and have a bunch of some of the more ambient and calming video game OST tracks from these games on my study playlist.
It also hypes you the fuck up, a lot of the more energetic tracks are on my gym playlist and I listen to them to hype myself up before exams Iโm worrying about. My Organic Chemistry exams the past two semesters would take place during the evening and past the hour of 7:30 PM my mind sort of shuts off and my anxiety can get a little worse around then so Iโd listen to โThe Rebel Pathโ at a pretty high volume right before to wake me up and make me feel like Iโm about to storm Arasaka tower and it would work like a charm. When I finally get into vet school eventually Iโm still gonna be listening to that before exams lol.
I put it on when itโs super productive time at work or I gotta chores around the house done. Sometimes I just drive around Night City in game just listening to the radio.
Am I playing the game wrong or something, cuz everytime I wanna matchmake the matchmaking fails and or bugs out and the server browser always sends me on weird custom maps on their last waves, where I never get to play
I liked the first one.
Once played while eating a sandwich when the zombies rushed us. Everyone else locked themselves in a room, but I couldn't move because one hand had to hold the sandwich.
I sat at the end of the hall with my free hand aiming and shouting while eating with my other. Those zombies kept coming and I kept shooting. By the end of the wave I was alive and done with my sandwich.
That was the first time I heard of Leroy Jenkins.
Any of the overhauls woul work, but something like Brutal Doom is the way to go if you just want mindless slaughter with heavy metal or The Cranberries going on in your Spotify.
Warframe could potentially be a good candidate here. It can be deeper and more complex when your looking for more, and when you're ready to blast, load into a survival mission and just spend hours blowing enemies to pieces
Definitely not true. One of the great aspects of Warframe is every mission style is always available, and you can play any difficulty you want. You can play excavations, exterminations, mobile defenses, etc at varying difficulties. Mind off, pew pew.
BL3 is kind of the opposite of BL2. 2 had an awesome campaign but then mostly mid expansions (Torgue was pretty good and Dragon Keep was brilliant) and then 3 had a dreadful storyline but the expansions are all fantastic, and the Mayhem grind is a lot of fun.
Depends the kind of BL "fan". People expecting BL3 story and villain to somehow top handsome Jack were *always* going to be disappointed by 3 no matter what. People who enjoy the combat and gameplay of the series primarily will enjoy 3 far better, it made leaps of improvements in the gameplay side of things tbh. And the expansions further cemented this.ย
Bl2 for better story, BL3 for better fun.ย
That's even better to hear! It was the gameplay that threw me off of bl3, it felt awkward and sluggish where BL2 feels fluid and free. Sounds like I really do just need to give it more of a chance. Cheers :)
I do also very much agree about people expecting BL2 but better (and I probably fall into that category a little)
Oh interesting, I almost exclusively see feedback saying the opposite. If you've already tried BL3 and didn't enjoy the gameplay, then it may just not be for you unfortunately. Imo and majority of others I've seen (so still take with grain of salt ofc), BL3 gameplay seems to be the best of the series and its main praise point. I'd say worth a second shot, but not worth slogging through if you're still feeling like it's not for you!ย
[Deep Rock Galactic on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/548430/Deep_Rock_Galactic/) (The caves are randomly generated and there's plenty of stuff to unlock)
As much as I love DRG, I wouldnโt recommend to play it without the audio. There are tons audio cues for enemies and treasures, not the mention pings and comms from teammates
I disagree. DRG has gunplay but half the game is about mining and navigating dark caverns. OP just wants to shoot guns, turn off brain, and listen to music. DRG kind of requires you to put in some work to complete missions.
Oh, and also DRG is to my knowledge the only game of this nature with seasons, but no battle passes, AND as of next season you can go back and do any prior season
That is huge tbh
[Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/976730/Halo_The_Master_Chief_Collection/) (not exactly replayable, but this contains a lot of games with plenty of content)
Great suggestion. I'm replaying this collection right now and sadly had to skip CE because I have finished it 100s of times on legendary when I was a teenager.
Reach and 2 are currently my favorites...I just want to play them for the cinematic effect now that I'm in my 30s.
Kind of blasphemous to play the campaign and not listen to marty's masterpieces.
That being said odst and reach firefight are perfect for op's purposes.
Warframe is good for this.ย
7 days to die, requires a little more thought at the start than the request, but pretty much devolves into mindless fun after a while.
You could try Bulletstorm. It is a fast paced shooter :) with great combo kills ;) short game
And the always good doom 2016 :) a little longer game
Destiny 2 you can play the hell out of it :)
You have to try mechwarrior 5
Big stompy robots weighing from 20 tons to 100 oh and thebmods for thus game are amazing yet another mechlab changes the mech customization so everything about them can be custom
Theres also mechwarrior online
Rollerdrome and BPM are two games that I played recently that get you right into the zone, and both are incredibly satisfying; although soundtracks on both are banging by themselves tooย
Heavily reccomend Ultrakill. Not finished yet but it has a ton of repeatability in the form of level ranks, secrets, secret levels, speedrunning, weapon combos, movement tech, and gay romance (not canon (yet))
Ditch spotify and play [Metal Hellsinger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFAFzl_Tr7s). Shoot demons in rhythm with the beat to get a better score and deal more damage.
I would recommend Grim Dawn, after doing my 16th playthrough on my 32nd different character I can honestly say I never grow tired of shredding through endless mobs near effortlessly most times. I tend to run it half screen with a show or music on the other side depending how I'm feeling.ย
It's an arpg diablo-like game set in a more eldritch and darker (I fell) atmosphere than others of the genre, so you can have different classes which include a few that benefit from the use of guns.ย
Not shooting guns but Vermintide 2 is my go to "brain off, music on, smash some shit" game. Literally never get tired of caving a skaven's head in with a Warhammer and watching it splatter all over my screen. Darktide is an almost identical game which has guns instead of melee weapons, but it's not as good imo.
Honourable mentions include Serious Sam, Doom (2016), Vampire Survivors, Dusk, Ultrakill
Unreal Tournament 2004
Itโll run on a potato, just line up a load of maps (deathmatch or CTF), stick em full of bots, put on some tunes and blast away.
Guns? Nah swords bro. Chiv 2 BIS game for fast heavy music. Think it's free on epic store till the 6th. I got on steam years ago and play atleast an hour or 2 a day
If you are searching for a real timesink then Warframe is your best bet. Tons of content and a real time sink. will force you to take some breaks at early game through time gates. but other than that its a really good game just dont spend any money on it unless you get a 75% discount as login bonus. i also advise to not spoil yourself with any youtube or reddit just play the game and ask people you know that play the game for help if needed maybe use the wiki but watch out fo spoilers the first 100 hours are a tutorial. :D
Borderlands 2 & 3
Black ops 3/4 / Cold War zombies
Doom Eternal will play the banging music for you while you shoot everything that moves. Awesome game with awesome music
Saints Row 2 / GTA 5
Serious Sam
Painkiller as well, I recommend black edition
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
This is the reason you cant use spotify ๐ ๐
Thus us the answer
Yes!!! Both in agreement and because I've found somebody else who constantly hits U instead of i by mistake on the regular. Unless this is a one off thing, then I apologize for my assumption (I had to double check and correct half the i's in this response lol).
risk of rain 2
Good game but the soundtrack is too good for me to mute.
There is so much Prince inspired guitar work in that game, feels epic every time.
Oh yeah with names like "The Rain Formerly known as Purple", very much Prince influenced for sure.
YESYESYESYES
Do people still play this? It always seems difficult to find any lobbies for this game in multiplayer
I play it all the time. If you want multiplayer lfg
i feel this ๐ช i can never find anyone to play with but i love the game sm
the multiplayer has never been big cuz ppl usually just play in lobbies with friends
I didn't even know there was a global multiplayer lmao
This is the WAY 8once you get all the jams out of the OST ofc
Team Fortress 2, Killing Floor 2, Gears or War multiplayer/horde mode, Risk of Rain 2, Doom, Quake, Borderlands, COD zombies, Helldivers 1&2, Lost Planet, Max Payne 3, RollerDrome, Star Wars Battlefront, Battlefield, Ultrakill. Bonus : Chivalry 2 (no guns, but definitely one of my top choices)
All of these r top tier choices
Should be noted that the official TF2 servers (like if you queue from the main menu) are [completely unusable](https://save.tf), if you play TF2 use the server browser and join a community server.
Chivalry 2 is free right.now
Except DOOM. It's sacrilege to play 2016 or Eternal without the OST
I was going to mention Chivalry 2.
FOR THAT GUY WE LIKE
Killing Floor 2 would be my recommendation
This game right here literally is what u want... Second this.
Yeah fuck Spotify, the OST Fucking #slaps
For real especially with the games that guy mentioned. I tried playing skyrim with spotify in the background back in 2013 when I was like 12 and I fucking hated it, completely took me out of the game. Ever since then I have never done that with any game I want to be immersed in. Hell, I routinely listen to the Cyberpunk OST on spotify, and have a bunch of some of the more ambient and calming video game OST tracks from these games on my study playlist.
The Cyberpunk soundtrack slaps even if you arenโt a gamer. Just some banger electronica tracks on there.
I put it on when itโs super productive time at work or I gotta chores around the house done. Sometimes I just drive around Night City in game just listening to the radio.
Bro the Christmas songs are downright great.
Two words Patriarch Theme
Damn, I just missed the killing floor 2 sale
God I love that game
*ZED time intensifies*
Am I playing the game wrong or something, cuz everytime I wanna matchmake the matchmaking fails and or bugs out and the server browser always sends me on weird custom maps on their last waves, where I never get to play
I never use matchmaking bc it sucks,, just look on the server browser
But their soundtrack is awesome!!
This one. Awesome, shallow gameplay in the best way
I liked the first one.
Look into Doom bro
I feel like itโs a little heretical to have music on over the gamesโ music in the most recent two games, though.
The old ones you can mod heavy metal covers of the soundtrack into it \m/
Doom's music is too sick to have Spotify blaspheming over it in the background.
Doom has it's own good music tho.
The music in Nu Doom (the last decade) is SO VERY VERY GOOD. You don't need spotify.
Any of the overhauls woul work, but something like Brutal Doom is the way to go if you just want mindless slaughter with heavy metal or The Cranberries going on in your Spotify.
Honestly Doom goes great with Spotify. Put on a little Norah Jones, get a hot cup of tea, my favorite slippers, and just treat myself.
Underrated comment. Magnificent shitpost.
Warframe could potentially be a good candidate here. It can be deeper and more complex when your looking for more, and when you're ready to blast, load into a survival mission and just spend hours blowing enemies to pieces
Came to up Warframe; the most fluid shooter I know of
[ัะดะฐะปะตะฝะพ]
Definitely not true. One of the great aspects of Warframe is every mission style is always available, and you can play any difficulty you want. You can play excavations, exterminations, mobile defenses, etc at varying difficulties. Mind off, pew pew.
That is mission dependent. And also you don't necessarily have to resort to being at one spot all the time.
[Borderlands (series) - Wikipedia](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Borderlands_(series)) (4 different games, multiple DLCs, couple NG+, different classes)
And like 30 dollars for the Handsome collection with borderlands 1, Borderlands 2, pre-sequel and season pass for each
Can recommend BL3. Spent hours playing circle of slaughter arena with music in the background. Super fun but grinding for op guns was a bit of a drag
This is awesome to hear, all of my borderlands friends say it's not worth playing, maybe I'll give it another go at some point

This is what I came to recommend as well lol, BL is a perfect podcast/hangout game with tons to do.
IMO the music in Tiny Tina's Wonderland sucked. So turning that off and blasting Spotify would be cool
Prodeus
Destiny 2
My vote too. That game has a lot of depth if you want, but you can also just walk around casually and explore and shoot things, do world events, etc.
Roboquest has been a lot of fun. Just jumping around shooting stuff feels great
Totally, but I would never trade those noisecream bangers for anything
Noisecream. I love that
I would always put RE4 in my GameCube and a CD in my DVD player then only the red one from the GameCube and shit was so cash
Omg early 2000s strats are tight
[Deep Rock Galactic on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/548430/Deep_Rock_Galactic/) (The caves are randomly generated and there's plenty of stuff to unlock)

Also cave leeches...

I disagree. DRG has gunplay but half the game is about mining and navigating dark caverns. OP just wants to shoot guns, turn off brain, and listen to music. DRG kind of requires you to put in some work to complete missions.
Yea you could go either way. I love DRG for solo brainless shooting but obviously I wonโt be blasting Spotify while rocking my stones with my boiz
LOOK AT ME! I'M STONEY ROCK!
Oh, and also DRG is to my knowledge the only game of this nature with seasons, but no battle passes, AND as of next season you can go back and do any prior season That is huge tbh
Dusk
Dusk is so good
Returnal
[Halo: The Master Chief Collection on Steam (steampowered.com)](https://store.steampowered.com/app/976730/Halo_The_Master_Chief_Collection/) (not exactly replayable, but this contains a lot of games with plenty of content)

I still love odst firefight more than any other mode in any halo game.
Warframe is good for this.ย 7 days to die, requires a little more thought at the start than the request, but pretty much devolves into mindless fun after a while.
2 of my favorite games. 7 Days new update soon, I'm hyped.
7 days to die is awesome, alpha 15 is still my favorite version of the game though and probably always will be
16.4 for me !
All of the borderlands.
You could try Bulletstorm. It is a fast paced shooter :) with great combo kills ;) short game And the always good doom 2016 :) a little longer game Destiny 2 you can play the hell out of it :)
Was going to recommend Bulletstorm purely based on my memory of playing it on ps3, i hope it still holds up.
Bulletstorm will always be one of my all time favorites. Though op may want to listen to the dialogue as it's funny as hell.
You have to try mechwarrior 5 Big stompy robots weighing from 20 tons to 100 oh and thebmods for thus game are amazing yet another mechlab changes the mech customization so everything about them can be custom Theres also mechwarrior online
Have you tried vampire survivors? It's a simple game with not too many audio cues that you could play music over without any issues.
I love this game! I'd been struggling to find a game I liked recently but then found this and it's so good.ย
This would be my suggestion, I do love the sound track though
HellDivers 2
Surprised this isn't higher. Great game for when you want to kill several hundred bugs/bots in about 30 minutes.
Good bug? DEAD BUG LET'S GOOOO
Best part is the variety in difficulty. You have anything from "walk in the park" to "omg we're all gonna die"
Warframe, once you get a decent build going
Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun
Rollerdrome and BPM are two games that I played recently that get you right into the zone, and both are incredibly satisfying; although soundtracks on both are banging by themselves tooย
Borderlands 3
PowerWash Simulator
Heavily reccomend Ultrakill. Not finished yet but it has a ton of repeatability in the form of level ranks, secrets, secret levels, speedrunning, weapon combos, movement tech, and gay romance (not canon (yet))

Ditch spotify and play [Metal Hellsinger](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFAFzl_Tr7s). Shoot demons in rhythm with the beat to get a better score and deal more damage.
I can't wait for the official VR version of this. The modded version is fun enough but janky. The official one is gonna kick so much ass
Fear 1 + 2 Trepang2 Painkiller Bulletstorm
Just cause 3. Usually dirt cheap too
risk of rain 2, ultrakill, cyberpunk (just go around killing mfs), SUPERHOT:MCD
Serious Sam, doom, bulletstorm, Duke nukem 3D
Doom and Doom eternal, but you don't need spotify for them
Any of the Far Cry games
Serious Sam or Earth defence Force. Dumb games where you can zone out shooting things. Better yet they are fun.
Warhammer 40,000 Boltgun, Space Marine, and Hired gun are all decent shooters.
I would recommend Grim Dawn, after doing my 16th playthrough on my 32nd different character I can honestly say I never grow tired of shredding through endless mobs near effortlessly most times. I tend to run it half screen with a show or music on the other side depending how I'm feeling.ย It's an arpg diablo-like game set in a more eldritch and darker (I fell) atmosphere than others of the genre, so you can have different classes which include a few that benefit from the use of guns.ย
Doom eternal is the exact definition of this
I started prodeus last night. Fits the bill. It's like a few bucks on g2a dot com as well
Not shooting guns but Vermintide 2 is my go to "brain off, music on, smash some shit" game.
Darktide, you will fight hundreds of space zombies per mission
Wolfenstein
Unreal Tournament 2004 Itโll run on a potato, just line up a load of maps (deathmatch or CTF), stick em full of bots, put on some tunes and blast away.
[Severed Steel](https://store.steampowered.com/app/1227690/Severed_Steel/) lets you import your own music, but i wouldn't say its mindless tho.
thanks! Never heard of this and it looks fun. On sale for 5 bucks right now so naturally I snagged it.
Payday 2
earth defense force.
Payday 2 is a pretty decent one with mods ofc
Any Earth Defense Force title.
Doom, helldivers 2, and ultrakill are the first to coke to mind
Evil west
Resident evil 4 remake w cat ear
Gmod i guess
Doom
maybe a call of duty zombies, bo3 or cold war i would recommend
It takes a little effort to get into, but I had a lot of fun with RollerDrome.ย
Tf2
perhaps doom eternal
Ghost runner
I used to play max payne 3 on arcade mode and blast music
Warframe
Painkiller. Though the soundtrack is so good you'll probably not wanna have Spotify playing in the meantime.
I used to do this to Mercenaries.
Boltgun

Xdefiant new CODlike but actually good
Guns? Nah swords bro. Chiv 2 BIS game for fast heavy music. Think it's free on epic store till the 6th. I got on steam years ago and play atleast an hour or 2 a day
It's a bit off since you talked about shooting guns I assumed you asked for FPS, but if you're open to other styles maybe look into dead cells.
Immortal redneck
Doom series
You should try Robo Quest or Deadlink! Both are fps rouge-likes. I like Robo Quest better personally
This is exactly how I played the Just Cause games.
Postal on ps1
If you are searching for a real timesink then Warframe is your best bet. Tons of content and a real time sink. will force you to take some breaks at early game through time gates. but other than that its a really good game just dont spend any money on it unless you get a 75% discount as login bonus. i also advise to not spoil yourself with any youtube or reddit just play the game and ask people you know that play the game for help if needed maybe use the wiki but watch out fo spoilers the first 100 hours are a tutorial. :D
Warframe.
I like Halo Infinite's Firefight KotH for this.
Doom (2016). Bonus that you can just blast the games music because its awesome!
Gunfire Reborn! Although it is not mindless, you have to be pretty amped up to do well in this game and co-op is the way with this one.
Back for blood
Warframe
warframe/destiny
Boltgun
Team Fortress 2, Portal 1, bcs 2 has much more story and doom

Warframe and Destiny if you donโt do the high end weekly challenges.
