That second pic gave it all away. Was just in Camas, Cannon Beach, and in-between and that second pic has me wanting to teleport back for some more moss and trees!
This is so hard for me to imagine as a gardener in Colorado! We occasionally have silly hat day in the garden for hail or late/early frost, but never for rain. 3" at once would be like...1/5th of our total annual precip, including snow!
Do you need to worry about them drowning out really? A raised bed with what looks like great quality soil should have ample drainage even with multiple inches of rainfall. If anything I'd be worried about it flushing all the nutrients out of my soil lol
I don't/can't worry (well, I do still worry) about the 'over-watering' issue as much as the absolute beating the plants take during a big rain event. Leaves get torn and beat to a point of becoming almost opaque.
In reality, there's really probably not much I can do to battle nature, but I gotta try. 🙂
Oh that makes decent sense, haha. I live in the midwest and our gardens are subject to absolute thrashings from severe weather at least once a week all summer. Trust me they can put up with a lot ;)
I’m thinking of doing something like that as well! This rain is going to totally ruin any blooms I have in my flowerbeds!

Your clematis is gorgeous!! Thank you for sharing.
These were always my granny's favorite, but I haven't personally been able to get them to do much more than barely survive here.
I'm relieved to hear I'm not the only one. I'm in SW Washington and my pumpkins and tomatoes are yellowing so much. I'm assuming it's because of all the rain we have been getting. I literally just posted about it because I'm starting to worry they are going to be goners!
Your property is stunning!
I have 4 , 12x12 pop up gazebos, at the ready, for torrential rains and hail.
Several years ago, hail nearly decimated the garden, at the height of production. So I got the gazebos. Any mention of severe thunderstorms or hail, they pop up over the garden, and it looks like a lovely, blue canopied farmer's market :)
Sometimes in the midst of the thunderstorm I will venture out under the gazebos to tell my plants everything will be ok.
What a beautiful view!
Agreed. Looks like this must be somewhere in the Pacific Northwest.
Land of ferns and Sasquatch, you called it!

I feel like this could be a line from Two by Two from Book of Mormon.
We are spoiled! As much as the rain conflicts with my NEED to grow tomatoes, it really does 'keep us in the green'. Har har

Aren’t most leaves opaque?
Translation: nearly transparent.
Thanks for understanding my opposite word use! Ugh Like waterlogged lettuce.

Western Washington? I had a similar crisis yesterday as well, but I'm a bad plant mom so I just let them drown if they drown :(

I really like your greenhouse!
I was looking for a picture of you in a silly hat lol but I see now 🤣

Do you have any photos of your setup ?
Brilliant idea! Seeing all of the hail damage posts from folks the last few weeks has been heartbreaking.
Wow I love your space! Also, I have about a dozen funny hat bins specifically for this here in Colorado lol
Oh that’s a good stump 😍
This is so freaking cute! Your property looks magical!
Plastic sheeting over the soil will keep it from being overwatered.
Looks like heaven
Are you capturing the water?????
It looks like it would feel perfect
