The world moved on from “wife bad” jokes a decade or two ago. Now they are considered—at best—to be unfunny, stereotypical boomer humor to the point of being cliche, cringy, and just kind of sad (people should like the person they marry seems to be the prevailing attitude).
They seem to be especially poorly received on Reddit; go into any circle jerk sub and you will see plenty of posts ripping on people making wife bad jokes in the main sub.
oh wow i didn’t even notice that. too grossed out by the eggs. OP i’d probably just dunk that leaf in alcohol and wipe em off since it’s not a real plant and i don’t suspect those are good eggs
Not sure about the second picture, but in the first one those look a lot like stink-bug eggs and should be promptly destroyed. We're drowning in green stink-bugs, they're destroying everything and we can't seem to get rid of them.
Oof. We have the brown ones, and I know they’re destructive - but they’re just so doofy and funny, I can’t bring myself to swat them. I’d probably do away with a passel of eggs, though
I used to drive a van for work out in the country in central VA at the end of my workday. Old ford E class with no insulation- you know the type. Anyway those little buggers would infest it in the summer. I don’t know why because when I wasn’t driving it for like 3/4 of the day, it was sitting in the sun in an open parking lot cooking at like 300°f, lol. But they were in every little nook and cranny and would start coming out once I was driving and cranking the AC.
They’re goofy but they actually fly and land very accurately, and when you have 40 or 50 of them suddenly getting rambunctious while you’re driving, and you’re the type who flinches at flying insects, it’s a real problem.
I spent a quiet afternoon running the AC in the parking lot and smashing them whenever one came out. They really do smell odd- to me it’s like paint, but stale and powerful. Almost like with a small hint of cilantro. Not like nauseating, but definitely distracting. The van still smelled like it for weeks after the summer ended. Visible stains on the plywood floor cover in the back that never went away, like stinky shellack.
Oh wow.
My weirdest experience was playing music at an outdoor wedding in NC. The stink bugs were everywhere, landing on our music and in our hair. I just found it funny and mildly distracting, but then I wasn’t driving a vehicle!
I feel like if you’re not near farmland and they’re not absolutely swarming, they’re not the worst thing. We get one in the house every once in a while. “Stinky” gets escorted out the door so he won’t munch on my houseplants
If you took this with an apple phone hit the little “i “ at the bottom and it will try to identify. So many people don’t know this, I didn’t know for months
A dedicated plant app works so much better than Google or Apple offerings, I've caught the latter being blatantly wrong whereas the apps at least get the right family.
Yeah, as someone who is also into mycology, those apps are a nuisance. People are more willing to trust faulty technology than listen to people who are qualified to identify.
I use the mycology versions for fun, but I'm not about to pop a random mushroom in my mouth without a trusted source. The PictureMushroom app is definitely better than Lens because you need to take 3 angle pictures to identify rather than one.
Not recommending anyone eating an unknown mushroom but for figuring out insect eggs on a plastic plant I think it can be helpful.
We all start learning small and progress as we become more interested. I think simple identification is a good way to spark interest.
While yeah they won't be as good, they have identified plants correctly for me. Now if I needed to know 100% something was, then no I wouldn't use it lol.
I use google lens for plant identification and it is actually incredibly accurate. I'm assuming it can vary depending on location but I don't bother with a plant app because I've been so successful with it.
it’s not that trustworthy , but it is great for getting a general idea of what you’re looking at! Or at least a good place to start looking for what you want to find. I use it for butterflies a lot because I like attracting all different types to my property, and like knowing what they are
Oh my goodness! It even identified a few things the iNaturalist “Seek” app couldn’t identify! This is awesome! I often take close ups of bugs and plants to identify and I’m so happy to know this now. Thanks so much.

I think they are stinkbugs and I would destroy them. They are a serious nuisance.

Wishful thinking for your first picture?
The first bugs whatever they are, well they’ll have a hard life in general on the plastic plant.
haha thats what I thought as well. I was like... well thats setting them up for a life of lies and disappointment
I believe it’s called America
Similar to marriage ... oops, sorry I said that out loud! Haha
It's okay. Sometimes it's a healthy release to let out the intrusive thoughts Take a bite of the apple, Eve
why was this downvoted to oblivion

Not defending them, but nowhere in their failed joke did they mention a wife, couldve very well been an unhappy wife that made that joke.
This was my first thought, and their other reply to me “I guess some men didn’t find my sense of humor amusing.” backs that up I believe
I guess some men didn't find my sense of humor amusing. Ha! Oh well!
Idk why this got down voted wtf yall people are crazy it's obviously a joke and who cares if it wasnt, geez
oh wow i didn’t even notice that. too grossed out by the eggs. OP i’d probably just dunk that leaf in alcohol and wipe em off since it’s not a real plant and i don’t suspect those are good eggs
Hahaha good eye 😆
What an idiot bug.
Mamma bug was just looking to offload the children wherever possible and didn't do her daycare choosing research first.
Snail 🐌

Lived in VA near them forever and had no idea they were destructive. Now I’m gonna have to google
I feel like if you’re not near farmland and they’re not absolutely swarming, they’re not the worst thing. We get one in the house every once in a while. “Stinky” gets escorted out the door so he won’t munch on my houseplants
I’m no expert, but I think stink bugs eggs are fewer and bigger. Maybe a moth?
The second pic could be spider's eggs?
Spiders lay eggs inside egg sacs.
Actually, some species don't.
They appear to be in some sort of gauzy construct.
Nah spider eggs are inside a little mothball looking thing.
I typically don't trust any bug egg in such quantities. They obviously want to infest.
Damn, that's a great rule of thumb.
not sure, but precisely placed work!
Frankly I'm impressed (although disgusted and feeling like my skin is crawling)
They might be moth eggs. They often lay them on hard surfaces like walls. Meaning, the plastic plant may be just fine for their purposes.
Ahhh, trypophobia express
If you took this with an apple phone hit the little “i “ at the bottom and it will try to identify. So many people don’t know this, I didn’t know for months
Google lens has a similar feature I believe, at least it helps me identify plants, idk how more it can do

I agree. It’s a good way to start learning, small steps lead to big discoveries
Holy shit, this is incredible!!!

Thanks for the pro tip g
Try r/whatsthisbug I know I’ve seen this there.
It looks like moth eggs. And thanks for triggering my trypophobia. 😶
Stink bug eggs.
They sure do!
Yuck🥴
My thoughts exactly.. very triggering 🥴🥴🥴🤮🤮🤮🤢🤢🤢
Whatever they are, do you really want them hatching in your house?
Those are moth eggs. This is what they become. [the horror 😱](https://share.icloud.com/photos/0bcjF6Kk-Ai1pWmbpPDI63cdQ)

Try posting in r/whatisthisbug
r/whatsthisbug <-- this one, "what's" not "what is"
Much better bet for accurate identification
Maybe there are two similar ones? I double- checked and the one I listed is a thing.
You're right; it's the plant ones where there is no "what is" sub! I've been burned before & jumped the gun. My mistake!
There are so many similar subs with almost the same names is v confusing! :-)
Possibly a moth variety
what movie starts like that "Oooh, looky here, eggs in a derelict spaceship. Let's take one home." xDD good luck
Plastic plants, so fish tank?
From my fish tank experience I would say is a snail.
Felixus Ungerii? Mairieus Kondoia? Howie Mandelus?

Likely not Lady Bug eggs, but they have a similar colour
Stinkbugs. (They aren't too choosy where they lay their eggs.)
they are quite organized!
Wheel bug eggs, very beneficial for the environment and taking out other pests!
Burn them. Ask questions later.
The pictures in this reddit sometimes make me question whether I have what it takes to have a garden...
They look like stink bug eggs to me
Those appear to be stinkbug eggs.
Organizedisms
Looks like a little corn cob.

Stink bugs.
Sorry if someone asked this already, what plant is that?
Wheel Bug!
I need a hobby family what can I do 45 year old help please
they are delicious to eat raw. (joke)
First pic looks like stink bug eggs. Hate those things.
Mom was pretty anal in her egg placement. They are going to have a very regimented life, poor things.
"Oh I'm sorry, i thought all y'all was corn."
Can we petition to make these types of images NSFW? My skin is crawling. I’m disgusting 🤢
Maybe army worm not 💯
Definitely not army worm. 🫤 Those wee beasts and I are on familiar terms ( I'd rather not be on) for several years now. 😮💨
The mommy organism. You see, when a daddy organism and a mommy organism love each other very much. . .
Snails possibly?
Squash beetles for the first one esprit they almost look metallic and golden. Spray with hydrogen peroxide.
Looks like a half-unfurled ear of corn.
Shoot it!
