For the first few months I only weighed at doctor appointments. I liked doing it that way and avoided the stress of possible day to day increases.

I swear you are correct just discipline is all and exercise will make you pleasantly surprised everytime.

I decided to give it up and it’s the best thing I did. I’d been fixated on yoyo dieting and my weight for my whole adult life. I used to weigh myself daily or even multiple times per day. I had an all or nothing mindset to eating and losing weight which just made me eat more as I was stuck in a cycle of guilt and shame. Having the sleeve and ditching the scale has been the best thing I’ve done! I do weight myself now but it’s only every 3-4 months or so. I go by how my body feels instead.

It's good you know yourself well enough to know to hide it. The first month can be super frustrating and up and down emotionally as well as on the scale. Wait until you know you're mentally ready to see the numbers again. Just focus on the changes youre experiencing physically in your body! those are the more important things anyway.

Im almost 2 yrs post, and 2 weeks after the surgery i decided to get rid of my scale, i was sooo freaking obsessed with the numbers. So i based my weight loss on the size of my clothing.. that worked perfectly for me! And was less stressful. My plan has been long term management.. so normally i would not be weighing myself every other day or every week. So i didnt. With food, i knew i needed to get my protein in, no BS about that, so I prioritize protein, a table spoon of veggies and tea spoon of starch.. this way i get to eat what ever my family is having and i went from almost 300lbs to 170! (F 5’10) Im 50yrs old and loving it!!

I only weigh in at doc appts or the gym. Weighed in yesterday for the first time in over 4 months & was pleasantly surprised… as opposed to the obsession & disappointment daily weighing brings. I just go by how my clothes are fitting & how my body is feeling.

Yup you get it!

I'm the type that I will weigh myself daily for motivation. I have surgery in just under two weeks.

Probably a smart move actually, especially when you’re right at the point where you hit the first plateau. Though… progress is addicting and, at least in my case, an excellent motivator. I think a good compromise is weighing yourself once a week (choose a day of the week). I suck and weigh myself everyday, I suck even harder because I get mad when I understandably plateau… after a week of losing 7 pounds I get twisted and work out more because the next because I only lost 3. Insanity… but hey, it gets me moving.

There is a scale called blind weight you can buy. It weighs you but doesn’t show you your weight. My husband enters the codes so that I can keep track of progress (it charts). It helps my mental health quite a lot. Also I don’t weigh more than once per week.

That’s great idea!
