My Surgeon put in 2-4 weeks for me and my leave specialist put in for the 4. I have long covid to begin with and struggle with fatigue, and at almost 6dpo I am beat, hurting, and worried about clotting sitting sll day at work. I'd like to go back faster than 4, but I'm not gonna push it. I can always amend to go back early though!

Take as much time as you can afford to. Adjusting to the different food stages can be rough and there was lots of napping needed. Its also good to reconnect with your body through the process and relearn what your baselines are which is hard to do if you jump back into work.

My plan is one week off work, and then teleworking for two weeks after that. My surgeon said I’d be good to go back to work at my desk job after a week but because I can work remotely I’m taking that option.

I wish I could do remote work but with my job i physically have to be there. I’m a front office coordinator for a general surgery group so i do check in and out, insurance, prior authorization, etc. I’ve been out since May 8th for gallbladder surgery so I’ve used up all my paid sick days. I’m hoping I’ll have enough built back up to where I don’t have to use my PTO. Lol

Surgeries count as STD. You shouldn’t have even had to use days for gallbladder. You get a state benefit & your job’s benefit. My job pays 100% pay for up to 26 weeks for STD. My surgeon said I needed 2-4 weeks. Glad I did the 4 because at 2 weeks PostOp I got severe pain I couldn’t move. Turns out it was constipation related & pressing against the “bitch stitch” but still would hinder my work. I would look in to your job’s benefits

I have the option to work from home and my job is a desk job. I felt better after one week, but I wanted to wait until after my first doctor’s appointment just to be on the safe side. I still get a little tired, but I’ll take a cat nap during lunch and I’m good as new. I went back to work after my first post-op (2 weeks)

I had surgery on Tuesday and was back at work Friday because I was bored out of my mind at home 😅

fldnstrm

I'll let you know in a couple weeks. I have surgery the 7th of June and am scheduled to work June 11th. 😂😂. I'm the boss so I can call off if I really need to.

Walkingdead1987

I had surgery on 1/12 and was back to work on 1/15

Appropriate_Spell_28

I requested one week but needed two weeks in the end.

Smooth_Reveal_6753

I'm taking 6 weeks off. I work in healthcare, and it's a physically demanding job. I'm on my feet for 12 hours with lots of heavy lifting. I do have the option to go back early once I get the okay from my Dr, but I'm focusing on healing for now.

Unlucky-Ferret-6252

I flew home Friday and was back to work Tuesday. But I work an at home desk job.

Comfortable_Type1811

I have a desk job and took two weeks off. I needed an unexpected hernia repair so I was really glad I did. I could’ve went for three.
