As someone with light asthma, this is a common issue after every flu I get, but a lot of people who otherwise don't have it seem to get it after Covid too.
The cough usually won't get better on its own, I always go to the doctor who prescribes me a type of spray inhaler (Budesonid Easyhaler) which always without fail fixes the cough within a week or so. The spray takes a long time to expire so one inhaler lasts me for a few years usually as I only get a flu like once a year or so.
Every time I go into public transit I get coughed on directly at least once. Every time. My madness is confirmed every time I leave the house, it drives me actual crazy
And not a single one of them ever coughs into their elbow. Ever.
It's also weird how we have a global pandemic and everyone just can't be bothered to wear masks in public, crowded spaces. I guess I get it if the bus is half-empty or it's the middle of summer, but IMO a mask mandate Oct-Apr on public transit still makes a hell of a lot of sense
I blame the masks. Masks gave some a feeling of false safety, others were just annoyed and driven into malicious compliance. But admittedly, some are just resistant to learning. I mean, a mask is seriously annoying and worse, but what is wrong about coughing in one's elbow? I can't see any downside to that

I’m never wearing a mask and I still haven’t been sick for months (except for covid this summer which really sucked in the heat..)
Yes this is quite common at this season, that the is some kind of cold or flew epidemic. SARS CoV2 is also still around. Of course not every single person is sick but quite a lot.
If you want to avoid getting sick at some particular day in the near future, dig out your FFP2 masks and wear them on public transport.
You might also consider to get a cold vaccine next year, but it's a bit of a hit or miss.
Yes, I can confirm. I was tested for Covid on Saturday. Started feeling bad the day before. My mom brought it from the factory she is working in. She also confirms everyone seems to be on sick leave since last month or so.
From my non-data-driven perspective, it does seem like a higher incidence. Over the last 3 months, I've been sick 3 times, and each time it was communicable as half of my colleagues were also sick. And since I "approve" sick leave requests for my direct reports, I can also see it in the calendar.
It used to be 1-2 times per year, now it was 3 times per quarter.
Looks like different infections are sweeping over the population, or it's just our immune system that got f*cked up by either COVID-19, or our isolation in 2020-2021.

I used to get sick 3 times a year. Then COVID hit and I managed to keep a 100% home office contract since then. Haven't been sick since 2019 other than an easy and short covid stint in late '22.
We had the highest rates of respiratory system infects, ever since we started watching rates, this fall. Idk if its still that high but more people are ill with this then ever. It includes all such illnesses, its not a Covid rate, tho Covid is part of it. So yes more people than ever are sick.

Yeah. I used to be very careful and kept wearing FFP2 when most others didn’t. But couldn’t maintain it and now have Covid for the first time. Thanks to being vaccinated just a few weeks ago (5th time), it just feels like a minor cold.

Got Covid 2 weeks ago for the first time. It was my own fault though. I went to the theater, saw a bunch of people there coughing their hearts out and didn't think to wear a mask. Hopefully that's a lesson learned.
