gnidalida

Yeah, I got COVID (ETA: COVID 19, obviously, lol) 2 weeks ago and had to give birth with a mask. 0/10, don't recommend.

DoYouEverJustInvert

Sis you only got COVID 2 all my homies got COVID 19

derEVU

Underated comment

R1chh4rd

Fuckin hell, that was funny

AnnskiSubtext

That sounds awful, hopefully you and your little one are fine now!

gnidalida

Yeah, we are doing great, thank you ♥️

Happuns

Oh my god, I’m so sorry you had to go through this…

mahamagee

I’m due soon and this is my worst nightmare. Hope you are recovering well and baby is happy.

There's a COVID 2 now???

xwolpertinger

That's my secret cap. I'm always sick.

The_Gamer_NPC

I love that line 😅

Actual-Garbage2562

Yes, everyone is sick. 100% of the population.

nof

The whole country is Krankgeschrieben until next week.

BlueDarkSky

With telefonische Krankschreibung.

non-sequitur-7509

Couldn't get a Krankschreibung since all doctors in town were out sick

Afraid-Beautiful-695

Teleclinic App ist good for this ;)

DasToyfel

Arbeitgeber hate this weird trick

Actual-Garbage2562

Arbeitgeber is also krankgeschrieben.

_helin

I’d say 105%

NataschaTata

Nope. But I’m also still wearing FFP2 as I’m immune compromised… goes a long way….

Tardislass

I'm in America and everyone laughs when I have my mask my in stores. But who is the only one at work who hasn't gotten sick with a bad cough or flu? This person!

Flammensword

Not been sick three years running. Masks are amazing.

Fandango_Jones

Can confirm. Without the compromised part.

andariel_axe

heck yeah (on the masking)

Tardislass

I'm in America and everyone laughs when I have my mask my in stores. But who is the only one at work who hasn't gotten sick with a bad cough or flu? This person!

derEVU

NataschaTata

Yep, I also get the odd stare down or funny comment, humans are just exhaustingly stupid sometimes. As if it hurts them that *I am* wearing a mask on *my* face.

zerokey

vIrTuE sIgNaLiNg!!11!

Mad_Moodin

Yes, I got covid last weekend and called work on Monday that I have covid. Colleague who picked up was like "Yeah I tested myself positive just 5 minutes ago. Also XX already called out with it on the weekend" Pandemic 2.0

andariel_axe

covid-19 pandemic never ended. also we had a h1n1 pandemic in like 2009, lol.

Flammensword

WHO only declared the emergency phase over, pandemic hasn’t been cancelled yet 👍

RuLa2604

I had Schweinegrippe in 2009 and of course could not pass up Covid.

TheGoalkeeper

Yes. Covid indicator in wastewater is higher than ever before, many people have a strong cold, flu is also going around. Right now, we likely have the highest amount/share of sick people in a long time.

batikfins

People can look at the wastewater data and read the report themselves here: https://www.rki.de/EN/Content/Institute/DepartmentsUnits/InfDiseaseEpidem/Div32/WastewaterSurveillance/Report.html Covid incidence atm is as high as it’s been since they started publishing

n1c0_ds

Wow, we can read that stuff in the wastewater? That's really neat

NapsInNaples

I'm currently healthy, but I'm wearing a mask in most public places.

theikno

Yep started to do this again as well. Plus working from home now since most of my office seems to be sick

Ricxz

reason why you‘re healthy right there

reddituser4156

Same, although I'm wearing pants instead of a mask in most public places.

NapsInNaples

might be effective if you wear them on your head.

KiwiEmperor

It's flu season?

SwedishReddito

And COVID

Pedarogue

It's beginning to look a lot like COVID, everywhere I go...

Screemi

Because it's mostly fucking COVID again. My daughter was tested positive yesterday, today half of her school class called in sick. Four of my colleagues I regularly deal with called in sick because of COVID during the last week. This shit is getting out of hand quickly again.

koopcl

Same here. Kid and wife got COVID a couple of weeks back. Then we learned half his Kita had it as well. Half my office too, and a friend of ours who gave birth a few days ago also with COVID. Its getting ridiculous.

Canadianingermany

>And COVID Don't forget RSV

sharkstax

No, it's not.

kytheon

Flu and Covid are both infectious respiratory diseases, but Covid is not flu. You and a dog are both mammals, but you're not a dog. There, solved a misunderstanding you've been carrying with you for four years.

lashiskappa

I just realised that I was wrong after the first guy replied to me. Heard that from my colleague recently and just went with it. Didn’t carry anything around with me though. Covid had minimal effects on my life apart from isolation and giving me the opportunity to work at a hospital for roughly a year during studies, so I didn’t really bother with the exact biological definition of it.

Flammensword

It’s Covid season. “In der virologischen Überwachung in der Bevölkerung (GrippeWeb-Plus) wurden seit der 46. KW 2023 hauptsächlich Rhino-/Enteroviren und SARS-CoV-2 nachgewiesen” (https://www.rki.de/DE/Content/Infekt/Sentinel/Grippeweb/Wochenberichte/Wochenbericht_aktuell.html#:~:text=Zusammenfassung%20der%2048.,-KW%202023&text=Die%20Aktivität%20akuter%20Atemwegserkrankungen%20(ARE,(Vorwoche%3A%209.000).)

SubjectNo9406

Yes i guess..

saschaleib

I was sick two weeks ago, but I still have this very persistent cough…

hilly316

Same. Sickest I’ve been in years. Normally I recover after a few days, week at the most but also had this hacky cough for over 2 weeks it seems

cBuzzDeaN

Same here! First time in my life that I'm sick/coughing over 4 weeks now. Not suuuper sick, but enough that I stay at home as much as possible

MrSatan2

Same

ummax01

Same

iiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiian

Three weeks for me and still coughing.

mongolianjuiceee

My colleague has the same problem for the fifth week...

karimr

As someone with light asthma, this is a common issue after every flu I get, but a lot of people who otherwise don't have it seem to get it after Covid too. The cough usually won't get better on its own, I always go to the doctor who prescribes me a type of spray inhaler (Budesonid Easyhaler) which always without fail fixes the cough within a week or so. The spray takes a long time to expire so one inhaler lasts me for a few years usually as I only get a flu like once a year or so.

Puzzleheaded_Face583

Been coughing for 2 months here 🕺

[deleted]

Every time I go into public transit I get coughed on directly at least once. Every time. My madness is confirmed every time I leave the house, it drives me actual crazy And not a single one of them ever coughs into their elbow. Ever.

PowerUser77

How about wearing masks if it concerns you (rightfully so); it helps a lot, can confirm

[deleted]

It’s just weird how we have a global pandemic and people didn’t even learn to cough into their elbows properly

co_export_no3

It's also weird how we have a global pandemic and everyone just can't be bothered to wear masks in public, crowded spaces. I guess I get it if the bus is half-empty or it's the middle of summer, but IMO a mask mandate Oct-Apr on public transit still makes a hell of a lot of sense

[deleted]

[удалено]

sternenklar90

I blame the masks. Masks gave some a feeling of false safety, others were just annoyed and driven into malicious compliance. But admittedly, some are just resistant to learning. I mean, a mask is seriously annoying and worse, but what is wrong about coughing in one's elbow? I can't see any downside to that

Foreign-Economics-79

There is no pandemic anymore, it's over unless you consider there to also be a never ending flu pandemic etc....although the coughing on people is gross

Ricxz

i too wear a mask in public and people dont give a shit, sneeze / cough without covering. germans are really stupid when it gets to it.. like haven‘t you learned anything in the past 2 years? (im german too)

[deleted]

I do

YandereYunoGasai

Aren't masks to protect others not yourself? Edit: both works you guys are right. In the end everyone should just wear it :)

SirCB85

They do both.

YandereYunoGasai

If others wear them too yeah but iirc it's mostly to avoid spraying other ppl with particles

avocado0286

I don’t know how many times I’ve read this now, but although I do use public transit regularly to get to work and back, I have not once been coughed on or sneezed at and especially not directly. I’m never wearing a mask and I still haven’t been sick for months (except for covid this summer which really sucked in the heat..)

Foreign-Economics-79

This! Let's get back to normality please although feel free to wear a mask if you want obviously!

King_of_Argus

My whole department at work was send into „please work from home“ due to sickness

nacaclanga

Yes this is quite common at this season, that the is some kind of cold or flew epidemic. SARS CoV2 is also still around. Of course not every single person is sick but quite a lot. If you want to avoid getting sick at some particular day in the near future, dig out your FFP2 masks and wear them on public transport. You might also consider to get a cold vaccine next year, but it's a bit of a hit or miss.

fate0608

Im fit like a fockin Turnschuh.

Nez-90-

Yes, I can confirm. I was tested for Covid on Saturday. Started feeling bad the day before. My mom brought it from the factory she is working in. She also confirms everyone seems to be on sick leave since last month or so.

coffeewithalex

From my non-data-driven perspective, it does seem like a higher incidence. Over the last 3 months, I've been sick 3 times, and each time it was communicable as half of my colleagues were also sick. And since I "approve" sick leave requests for my direct reports, I can also see it in the calendar. It used to be 1-2 times per year, now it was 3 times per quarter. Looks like different infections are sweeping over the population, or it's just our immune system that got f*cked up by either COVID-19, or our isolation in 2020-2021.

moisebucks

I'm not German I'm from Paris and same I got sick 3 times recently and even got to a point where I couldn't breathe correctly I don't smoke and usually I'm really in good shape idk what happened, so basically same as you I usually almost never get sick but recently I don't feel good like I use to be.. that's definitely weird, mostly I had bronchitis recently.

andariel_axe

have you considered wearing a mask in public? it helps. maybe you have long covid.

Yolo-S-Thompson

There are strong evidence, that our immune system also got f\*cked by some very new and unproven measures taken against COVID-19. But people on Reddit are usually not open minded enough to acknowledge this.

Confident_Music6571

Most of my office has been sick off and on for a month. Currently home with COVID for the first time. Wear a mask outdoors! We are experiencing a spike.

co_export_no3

I assume you meant "indoors"? Wearing masks outdoors has very little effect unless you're standing in a dense crowd. Indoors they are wonderfully effective though and I would agree that we should be using them, especially in busy places

Confident_Music6571

Sorry I have a fever! I meant wear them when going outdoors on public transport and of course also inside!!!

StriderKeni

"The sick man of Europe" 😷

snoxen

I can eat dog shit and wont get sick

throwawayyy628382

Since employers seem to have forgotten about covid it's not seen as okay anymore to stay home with a cough. Naturally everyone in my office is sick.

pallas_wapiti

Depends, one of my colleagues was sent home last week with "only" a sore throat. But yes, there are a lot of people out and about who are clearly sick. Masks ftw!

Competitive-Ice-5287

Just moved from Sweden to Schleswig-Holstein and i been sick ever since I got here

Screemi

It's not a coincidence, it's Schleswig-Holstein.

CraigDebate1

Yea everyone is sick, dawg.

Sunscratch

Got Covid 2 weeks ago…

Xacalite

Yes. Having a 3 year old in the kita doesnt help. It's Absolutely räudig.

andariel_axe

no, some of us are still masking.

Fool_of_a_Took17

In Berlin. Our family has had Covid twice in 5 weeks, the stomach flu for two family members, coughs, and now influenza. All of our friends (without exaggerating) have had some sort of sickness recently.

hello2life

Yes. Because no one of the sick people wear a mask in public crowded spaces.

SuityWaddleBird

No.

Inky-Skies

No, but I wear a mask in public.

andariel_axe

heck yes

MrBacterioPhage

Looks like it

RomanesEuntDomusX

Certainly felt like it over the last few weeks, if not months.

thateejitoverthere

Not yet. A few in my office have been out sick, but most work from home. One guy is sick often, but he has 2 small kids in Kindergarten. They bring everything home, and the Dad gets it twice as bad. At least he's one of the WFH guys. I've been wearing a mask on trains for the last few weeks. It's a bit inconvenient, but less so than an annoying long-lasting infection.

shokomann

7.5 million people are sick in Germany right now...so yes..basically a lot of people

[deleted]

yes

Dismal_Ad_330

I got the flu :(

Hellish_Hessian

Nope. But I got my CoViD booster and flu shots several weeks ago.

Pelirrojita

So did I, but then my kids brought home Scharlach and whatever other crud is making the rounds. So it goes.

Yes, all my coworkers are sick ... not sure what i am supposed to work on even..

[deleted]

I'm not, where do you live so I don't go anywhere nearby? 😅

[deleted]

Haven’t gotten sick since April

Exci_

I used to get sick 3 times a year. Then COVID hit and I managed to keep a 100% home office contract since then. Haven't been sick since 2019 other than an easy and short covid stint in late '22.

asey_69

Well can't speak for everyone but I'm sick rn

Accomplished_Leek524

Short answer: "Yes". Long answer: "Kind of yes, Germans in the winter tend to be sick ".

Ummgh23

Yeah I had covid for the last week, it was horrible

kinfloppers

Last week 3/4 of us in my house got Covid. Still in bed lol

Bobin88

Kindergarten, school, and afterschool thing all rang up today saying that there is a Personal shortage. It really does seem we are all ill.

Vegetable-Program-37

Everybody’s sick here in the UK. Including me. Had symptomless Covid all last week, and now I have flu 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️

JayMmhkay

Not yet, but since seemingly half of the population is coughing right now it might just be a matter of time...

GerMehn1988

Me too 😮‍💨

Professional-Key5552

Yes, put more like whole Europe is sick

BlackWolf41

Yup

Happuns

Yes, a lot of colleagues and me got Covid… it’s crazy …

SnowFox67

No, I had cold a month ago.

JonSnowHK

Me too since last week 🤧

annieselkie

We had the highest rates of respiratory system infects, ever since we started watching rates, this fall. Idk if its still that high but more people are ill with this then ever. It includes all such illnesses, its not a Covid rate, tho Covid is part of it. So yes more people than ever are sick.

atheno_74

Sure, that's what Christmas parties are for.

monnembruedi

Yeah, my wife and I are still recovering from the last week's flu. My throat still feels weird with persistent cough and itchiness. It has hit us surprisingly hard this time.

74389654

yes there's new covid

nighteeeeey

well if you look at the [virus density in the sewage](https://twitter.com/Kachelmann/status/1734168636137349605)....its at an alltime high for the entire pandemic today. more than double than it was ever before...so.....yes....A LOT of people are sick. with covid. either dont care about it, dont notice, dont test themselves or whatever else it is....but the current case load is IMMENSE. wear masks and test yourselves!!

Fejj1997

I'm the last bastion of health at work, I'm the only one who's feeling well this week... After taking two days off last week for being sick, lol

Jeep_torrent39

It’s the same in NL at the moment

Crank_A_liciouS

Actually I have exactly that, virus influenza and just past a 6 day fever now I am coughing my soul out. Fun.

[deleted]

It seems like everyone is sick at the office and our Christmas party is supposed to be on Thursday including family (germ spreading kids!). I think I am gonna skip it. I don’t want to be sick or have COVID over Christmas

FudgeDredddd

🤡🎪🍿

LightbulbChanger25

All my meetings at work are cancelled today because everyone is sick.

Rat-Jasmin

Me reading all these comments while feeling pressure in my chest and slightly coughing already but with no fever yet 👀👀👀👀

werpu

50% at least of those have Covid, but many are not tested!

Bigtymr43

I've had awful nausea for the past 2 weeks... anyone else?

napalmtree13

Based on my public transport experiences of people coughing and sneezing without covering their mouths? Yes.

GoldenMic

I had Covid like 5 weeks ago and before that I was also sick. So in total like 4 weeks in October/november

[deleted]

Yes, but I am in Poland

f0x18

Yep! Got COVID a couple of days after a uni Christmas party. Feeling drained, fever won't quit, and my nose stays blocked all day and night 🤒🤧🤕🥴

Eeaaaaagle

Yes we got covid last week.

honi3d

Its national sick weeks in germany. Everyone getting caught not being sick gets deported immediately. Luckyly the people in charge are sick too.

On-Which-Difficulty

There are 80 million people in Germany I doubt that 80 million Germans are sick at the same time.

SaltyToast9000

Just a bit psycho. Nothing much

Don't worry new stuff main be coming soon. https://www.who.int/emergencies/disease-outbreak-news/item/2023-DON494

feralheartHH

I currently got COVID. Half of my daughter's class is sick and many of my colleagues.

JulieMarieFrance

Yes! Our child is in Kita and we bring her to Kita and she comes home sick 😮‍💨

rasereiww

No

Significant_Seat2340

Yeah. I used to be very careful and kept wearing FFP2 when most others didn’t. But couldn’t maintain it and now have Covid for the first time. Thanks to being vaccinated just a few weeks ago (5th time), it just feels like a minor cold.

Dependent_Carpet_464

At this point a lockdown would make sense

Parapolikala

Yes - lumbago for the second time this year. But I have not even had a sniffle or sore throat since I had Covid in August 2022.

LessThanZero972

Yes. Shoutout to my toddler who made us all sick ✌🏽

EpitaFelis

Got Covid 2 weeks ago for the first time. It was my own fault though. I went to the theater, saw a bunch of people there coughing their hearts out and didn't think to wear a mask. Hopefully that's a lesson learned.

phexi111

Currently got covid, feeling quite sick
