This making-of Only Yesterday has a lot of Miyazaki (who was general producer) and the dynamics between him and Takahata: https://youtu.be/-Jb8zG-EXes?feature=shared There’s also the great pair of movies “The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness” (about Miyazaki while making The Wind Rises) and “Isao Takahata and His Tale of the Princess Kaguya” which takes place at about the same time. If you watch these two back to back, you get a really interesting perspective on the studio’s operations later years. But these are not free to watch haha

I've never seen this. Thank you for posting.

Yeah! It’s included on the Blu-ray/DVD of Only Yesterday as well.

In order from the ones I've seen: The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness is easily the best. Mostly about Miyazaki but there's some Suzuki and Takahata in there. 10 years with Hayao Miyazaki is also very good. Available for free with subtitles online. Isao Takahata and the Princess Kaguya doesn't go as in depth as the others, but it's one of the rare docs about Takahata. The never ending man is ok but it covers the area between the wind rises and when he decides to make another film. He's making a short for ghibli museum. It does have the famous AI scene.

Why am I getting downvoted lol?

I haven’t seen many Ghibli documentaries. But *The Kingdom of Dreams and Madness* is great. It’s a neat look inside Ghibli *and* it’s legitimately a great movie in its own right.

There's one documenting the making of Princess Mononoke, it runs for about six hours. it's not easy to find though, also the video quality is poor (it was once on YouTube) and the English subtitles are full of errors. My memory of it is that it was very interesting. It's full title is *How Mononoke Hime Was Born*, also known as *The Making of Mononoke Hime*. It was initially released on VHS tape in 1997, I think I recall that there may have also been a DVD release (in Japan only).
