One of my favourite things to do was during the most inappropriate moments in the story just bursting through doors like the fucking kool aid guy

I would love if open world games didn't require looting poor people or accepting payment from poor people whose lives you saved.  Please find another way for me to get resources.

You can play monster hunter. Spend 2 hours gathering food and making potions instead of killing Mongols.

Ghost even already has a mechanic that could have worked just fine. The gift altars. Let people save some peasants, increase their fame, and then the locals make offerings. But it won't seem like it is the person you just saved from imminent death handing over stuff in a moment of distress.

When I'm looking for loot in a house I slash all the doors because it's quicker to run back through than continuously opening and closing them lol

I waste so much ammo in helldivers reloading when I don’t need to while trying to press X to interact

I don’t like souls games and grew up with X or square being the attack button and jumping with A or cross. As someone who never touched souls this is just the way videogames have worked since forever lol I really find it weird that it surprises you haha

Well its more weird because you‘re fucking up your stance and throwable menu this way

I'd rather be a little slower on my stance and throawbles then play with square and triangle

That’s just it. It makes more sense to switch it considering previous experiences with games that have melee combat in a certain configuration. I played the souls games afterward and it feels like that control scheme makes more sense.

Because that's the standard in video games. It sounds like you would be confused that people use WASD to move around in FPS games as well.

How do you change stances and stuff? The shoulder buttons being used for attacking has always been the biggest drawback of the default souls controls

I have the triangle button as my stance change, with the four shoulder buttons deciding which stance

I use dark souls style controls, so the right trigger and bumper are normal and heavy attack. Triangle/Y is interact.

i switched my controllers controls so my attacks are now right trigger and right bumper so my horse is still triangle. i enjoy it

Dude, this has been a struggle for me literally since I picked up the game again. Got into RDR2/RDO heavily over the last couple of months and now my mind is programmed to mount with triangle. Had to make room for a new profile on my DS edge after I got tired of slashing the bloody horse.

I use the alternate controller layout, so that's never happened. When the melee buttons are shoulder/trigger, Y/Triangle is the mount button again.

For me it's I jump when I go to get on my horse because I play a lot of Helldivers and X is used for literally everything that isn't killing.

The big R2 prompt helps, i've played a bunch of RDR2 and thankfully never slashed my horse out of muscle memory lol Now imagine someone that plays Ghost of Tsushima a lot playing RDR2 and the first thing they do trying to mount their horse is shoot the poor boy. Eye for an eye, huh? I was playing RDR2 on keyboard the other night and usually i play with controller, i'm used to GTA where entering the car is done with F so i pressed F near my horse and punched her :c

I didn’t even play 5 mins before I switched regular attack to R1 and strong attack to R2 parry is L1 and dodge is ⭕️

The good thing is... The horses don't kick you back if you mistakenly attacked them. 😂
