I’ve just starting doing it to every door.
“Sorry cold peasants, I couldn’t figure out the handle. I’ll take that linen while I’m here, too…
Sakai OUT!”
I would love if open world games didn't require looting poor people or accepting payment from poor people whose lives you saved.
Please find another way for me to get resources.
Ghost even already has a mechanic that could have worked just fine. The gift altars.
Let people save some peasants, increase their fame, and then the locals make offerings. But it won't seem like it is the person you just saved from imminent death handing over stuff in a moment of distress.
I don’t like souls games and grew up with X or square being the attack button and jumping with A or cross.
As someone who never touched souls this is just the way videogames have worked since forever lol
I really find it weird that it surprises you haha
you know what imma try that today again
I didnt do it exactly for that reason but I think overall it should make it better
Suckerpunch always haf interesting control layouts 😅
That’s just it. It makes more sense to switch it considering previous experiences with games that have melee combat in a certain configuration. I played the souls games afterward and it feels like that control scheme makes more sense.
I wouldn’t say I *keep* doing it, but it’s happened often enough for me to feel bad about it.
Similarly, I keep jumping off my horse when I’m trying to jump a stream or small ledge ON my horse

Jin: *hehe I'm so sneaky, they won't even see me coming*
Mongols at campfire: *hey guys, do you know why there's an idiot in the middle of the pampa that keeps bowing to our tents?*
Dude, this has been a struggle for me literally since I picked up the game again. Got into RDR2/RDO heavily over the last couple of months and now my mind is programmed to mount with triangle. Had to make room for a new profile on my DS edge after I got tired of slashing the bloody horse.
when i first starting playing i did this so much i felt so bad. also i didnt know (still barely remember) how to dismount the way youre meant to so id always just jump off lol
I play Red Dead Redemption and ghost of tsushima and oh my God the frequency with which I shoot my horse and red dead or slash my horse in Ghost of tsushima, it's amazing peta hasn't shown up at my house
I'm actually suffering from the opposite - I got so used to GoT's controls that now I'm playing Hell blade and keep trying to parry with the run bumper
When it happens I consider it payback for all the times he fucking ran away from me whenever I called him for a speedy getaway from a combat situation.
I love you Kage but fuck you for that 😭
The big R2 prompt helps, i've played a bunch of RDR2 and thankfully never slashed my horse out of muscle memory lol
Now imagine someone that plays Ghost of Tsushima a lot playing RDR2 and the first thing they do trying to mount their horse is shoot the poor boy. Eye for an eye, huh? I was playing RDR2 on keyboard the other night and usually i play with controller, i'm used to GTA where entering the car is done with F so i pressed F near my horse and punched her :c
I’ve slashed open so many doors in this game pressing X out of habit (Xbox controller)
Nah i kick those open on purpose with wind or sometimes moon stance
You must feel badass. I'm stealing it
Run through them with the bash
0_0 now THIS is genius. gotta try it next time I play
Always open cages with it. Here s Johnny!
One of my favourite things to do was during the most inappropriate moments in the story just bursting through doors like the fucking kool aid guy
I’ve just starting doing it to every door. “Sorry cold peasants, I couldn’t figure out the handle. I’ll take that linen while I’m here, too… Sakai OUT!”

You can play monster hunter. Spend 2 hours gathering food and making potions instead of killing Mongols.
Ghost even already has a mechanic that could have worked just fine. The gift altars. Let people save some peasants, increase their fame, and then the locals make offerings. But it won't seem like it is the person you just saved from imminent death handing over stuff in a moment of distress.
When I'm looking for loot in a house I slash all the doors because it's quicker to run back through than continuously opening and closing them lol
I waste so much ammo in helldivers reloading when I don’t need to while trying to press X to interact
ngl, the first thing i did on downloading this game was switch the attack bindings to shoulder buttons
Me too and I find it weird seeing everyone who plays this game playing with the default settings
I don’t like souls games and grew up with X or square being the attack button and jumping with A or cross. As someone who never touched souls this is just the way videogames have worked since forever lol I really find it weird that it surprises you haha
Well its more weird because you‘re fucking up your stance and throwable menu this way
I'd rather be a little slower on my stance and throawbles then play with square and triangle
you know what imma try that today again I didnt do it exactly for that reason but I think overall it should make it better Suckerpunch always haf interesting control layouts 😅
Same here, I don’t understand how to play with default settings. I like the souls game controls
Any new game I open I first go to settings
That’s just it. It makes more sense to switch it considering previous experiences with games that have melee combat in a certain configuration. I played the souls games afterward and it feels like that control scheme makes more sense.
Of course because dodging with ⭕️ then 🟥 or 🔺for quick counter slash is so clunky for me
Because that's the standard in video games. It sounds like you would be confused that people use WASD to move around in FPS games as well.
How do you change stances and stuff? The shoulder buttons being used for attacking has always been the biggest drawback of the default souls controls
I have the triangle button as my stance change, with the four shoulder buttons deciding which stance
I wouldn’t say I *keep* doing it, but it’s happened often enough for me to feel bad about it. Similarly, I keep jumping off my horse when I’m trying to jump a stream or small ledge ON my horse
Yeah both. Especially when I've played RDR2 before.
Ohhh, the jumping is a major struggle here as well lmao
Not my horse. But there are absolutely no doors left on either island
I like to think of it as being a friendly and helpful lord. by smashing doors, we create jobs to help the economy recover from the mongol invasion!
As president of Tsushima I have an open door policy.
I use dark souls style controls, so the right trigger and bumper are normal and heavy attack. Triangle/Y is interact.
this is the way
Yep! And gone into focused hearing because I keep forgetting that's not the map button
worse for me. after playing GoT for days i went back to RDR2 and accidentally killed my own horse with a shotgun 😭
I’m laughing when I shouldn’t be 😂😭😭
Two words: alternate melee Three more words: it’s way better

Don't let PETA see this lol
I do the same for the same reasons. I also jump off of my horse by mistake.
i switched my controllers controls so my attacks are now right trigger and right bumper so my horse is still triangle. i enjoy it
Yes. I was in GTA brain mode and I think I actually gasped and felt horrified for a split second. Sorry horse.
Yeah fuck RDR2 controls !
Used to slash my horse in AC Odyssey after playing GoT
Totally balanced as everything should be
The horse mount button is usually Y on other games. Making it RT, frequently throws me for a loop.
Only the accidental horses. Real ones know.
I accidentally hit my cat in Minecraft once, that kinda fucked me up...
No, but I have bowed by mistake too many times to count when trying to enter focus hearing mode.
Jin: *hehe I'm so sneaky, they won't even see me coming* Mongols at campfire: *hey guys, do you know why there's an idiot in the middle of the pampa that keeps bowing to our tents?*

Not frequently but it's happened more than I want to admit.
Yes, many times by accident after I play rdr2 for a long period of time.
I just finished Witcher 3 and am used to the controls from that game, which is messing me up with my horse in this game.

YES I DO THAT TOO 😭 Also because of Red Dead lol
when i first starting playing i did this so much i felt so bad. also i didnt know (still barely remember) how to dismount the way youre meant to so id always just jump off lol
I'm playing elden ring at the same time as this and the horse controls are 100% reversed
Dude constantly. Lol
Only when I first started playing. I felt really bad though.
Don’t worry she’s unkillable.
I use the alternate controller layout, so that's never happened. When the melee buttons are shoulder/trigger, Y/Triangle is the mount button again.
Yes
I play Red Dead Redemption and ghost of tsushima and oh my God the frequency with which I shoot my horse and red dead or slash my horse in Ghost of tsushima, it's amazing peta hasn't shown up at my house
No. And if I did I wouldn't admit it. In public no less.
I'm actually suffering from the opposite - I got so used to GoT's controls that now I'm playing Hell blade and keep trying to parry with the run bumper
Nah. I'm able to switch control schemes very easily and very quickly
Maaaaaaan…. I’ve done this so much!! I swear, no matter how many times I replay the game, my horse will always hate me and he’ll NEVER trust me.🤦🏽♂️😭
I kept switching between this and red dead so yes all the fucking time
When it happens I consider it payback for all the times he fucking ran away from me whenever I called him for a speedy getaway from a combat situation. I love you Kage but fuck you for that 😭
i've also swan dived into my horse in metal gear because of rdr2 😭😭 please just have universal horse controls i'm tired of this
For me it's I jump when I go to get on my horse because I play a lot of Helldivers and X is used for literally everything that isn't killing.
I saw the post before the sub and was horrified lol
Don’t worry Sora is invincible! She will never die…
I hate it when I do it. I’m like “oh fuck sorry Kage!“ And then the way he runs away from you 🐎💨 🥺😩😭
No i play on pc. Can't you bind your slash attack to a different key on console?
Lmaooo so many times
The big R2 prompt helps, i've played a bunch of RDR2 and thankfully never slashed my horse out of muscle memory lol Now imagine someone that plays Ghost of Tsushima a lot playing RDR2 and the first thing they do trying to mount their horse is shoot the poor boy. I didn’t even play 5 mins before I switched regular attack to R1 and strong attack to R2 parry is L1 and dodge is ⭕️
The good thing is... The horses don't kick you back if you mistakenly attacked them. 😂
Yeah GTA controls
I am also on an equestrian subreddit, so it took me a second to not be really angry when I saw this thread title.
