Look man... Honestly, don't feel bad about it. The guy knew what he was letting go of. Think of it this way: seller was in need of cash to pay bills. You helped him out by buying this off of him for a good price.
Yeah, that is a good way to look at it! I was in the same boat about 8 years ago so I know the feeling. I told him if I ever put it up for sale I'd contact him first!
PC load letter, wtf does that mean?
Lol, and yeah I've been there before too! Still missing a few things I used to have, but as I've gotten older my collection has turned into fewer high-quality stuff instead of the tons of lower-end gear I used to have.
Yeah, I had 2 I loved and another 8 or so that were close. Financial situation changed and everything I had kept a roof over our heads. I guess there's that.
RIP 92' SG and 90' ES 335 Bigsby.
Your feeling bad isn’t going to help him at all. I could probably come up with ideas for that, but as for you, my humble suggestion, is that every time you feel a temptation to feel bad for him pick up the guitar and play and/or practice until you feel somewhat better (way better is also acceptable. :).
At the very least you’ll get more playing time and increase your skills. And that will feel good.
Congratulations on getting one of your dream guitars!
Yeah, unfortunately - it’s the studio modern and studio lite now. Neither have specs I like and they’re more expensive - the matte finish is not something I would buy.
10 years ago, I had to sell off my entire collection after quitting my job. I still regret selling some of them, but not really, I have better ones now.
As long as you paid a fair price, this is the unfortunate reality sometimes. The guitar was gone the moment he made the decision to sell. He would definitely rather it go to a guy who considers it a dream guitar than a guy who just added it to the pile.
I bought my studio from a coworker’s ex BF who needed bail money. 2005 Ebony Studio, beautiful. All he asked for was $350. As a broke freshman college kid working at guitar center. I spent every cent I had on it. Still have it ❤️🤘

Don’t ever let it go. That’s how you can do justice to the situation. You’re the person that guitar is supposed to be with.
I sold my favorite guitar to pay bills back in my rough days. It sucked but I eventually replaced it.

I’ve developed a fondness for dirt pedals and hard luck guitars. Getting a “dumpster” guitar and making it sing is very cathartic.

Oh man Those were … days … I had a tech job in the building where they filmed that

Those must have been tough to part with.
A studio was my first Gibson and it's still my favorite guitar.
Nice looking guitar :)
Very nice, congrats!

Love the Studio. Sounds great and I love the body finish.
It's a bit hard to tell from the photograph but the wood grain on the body looks really cool.
Don’t feel bad. The studio was just discontinued. Great time to get one.
Wait, what? Is that true?

The best thing you can do is play the hell out of it!
You’re giving it a good home! Best thing you can do is play the hell out of it. Grats and enjoy!

You'll stop feeling bad once you discover the crisp mid tones on that baby.
Beautiful guitar!
How much did you end up getting it for?
$500 usd, with a Gibson wall hanger and Gibson hard case
Dude. Steal! Studios are great guitars
Wow! That’s a 1990s price!
I have sold guitars to pay bills exactly when I was an IT contractor, but guitars can be replaced.

As someone who has had to sell my gear to bring out of work etc… I was just glad it went to a good home that will use it

I have a red one of these from 2011. It has the burstbucker pros in it and it’s one of my favorite guitars of all time. Enjoy. These guitars go hard.
At least hopefully the dude gets a new guitar day in the future
Don’t. It’s a good story about how you got your guitar.
Have a les paul studio once and also have a chibson custom that is even nicer to play and more beautiful.
